2017 HockomockSports Girls Lacrosse Awards
Sharon senior attacker Alex Rabb has been named the 2017 HockomockSports.com Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year. Rabb led the Eagles to a second place finish in the Davenport division, tied for the program’s best-ever finish in the league, and was named a Hockomock All-Star by the league’s coaches.

Rabb finished the regular season with a league-high 73 goals this spring and added 12 assists for a total of 85 points, which was second best in the Hockomock. She also added five goals in the first round of the playoffs against Newton South, including the eventual game-winner, to lead the Eagles to their first tournament win in program history.

HockomockSports.com Managing Editor Josh Perry said, “Alex was at times unstoppable on offense for the Eagles. When she drove to the goal, her size and strength made it very difficult to prevent her getting into a good scoring position and she was one of the best finishers in the league.”

“She is always competing at a high level,” said Sharon coach Colleen Carchedi, who has coached Rabb for the past three seasons. “Alex has had a huge impact on the Sharon girls’ lacrosse program in the past three years and her shoes can never be replaced.”

Carchedi added, “She is someone we could always count on and I wish her the best of luck playing at Ithaca College.”

Rabb finished her four-year varsity career with a program record of 230 goals and, with her leading the attack, the Eagles made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons (the first tournament appearances in program history) and had the best season in program history with a 15-5 record overall and 7-3 in the league.

She will join her twin sister Samantha, a defender for the Eagles, at Ithaca College next year.

Rabb is the second Sharon athlete to be named Player of the Year, following basketball player Karlie O’Driscoll in 2013-14. Rabb is also the first Davenport girls’ lacrosse player to earn Player of the Year in the five years that this award has been given out (Marta Versprille of Franklin in 2013 and 2014, Emily Jeffries of Franklin in 2015, and Hana Caster of North Attleboro in 2016).
