By HockomockSports.com Staff
Earlier this week, the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association released its latest coaches poll and two Hockomock teams were involved.
The Mansfield boys cross country team, who were ranked 11th in the MSTCA Preseason Poll for Large Schools, jumped up seven spots to #4. The Hornets are also the top D2 East team in the poll. So far this season, Mansfield is 3-0 with wins against North Attleboro, Taunton and Franklin. The Hornets also finished 4th in the Ocean State Invitational this past weekend. Jack Crawford finished fifth in the event and Jake Affanato was right behind in sixth.
Oliver Ames boys cross country made its debut in the poll this season after not being ranked in the preseason poll. The Tigers are ranked 20th in the Large Schools poll. OA is currently tied for first in the Davenport Division with a 3-0 record with Sharon. So far this season, OA has victories over Milford, Canton and Foxboro. The Davenport could likely be decided next week when OA hosts the Eagles.
