The 2025 Hockomock League golf season is well underway and the Davenport division is in the spotlight, as both reigning champions return as favorites with a handful of challengers ready to make things interesting. North Attleboro and Foxboro shared the title last fall, Canton returns a deep roster with the potential to contend, Oliver Ames could be a dark horse with some young talent, and Mansfield is a young team you can’t count out.
Meanwhile, in the Kelley-Rex division, the league’s biggest rivalry continues to shape the race as King Philip and Franklin are expected to battle for the top spot, while Attleboro and Milford look to make strides and Sharon and Taunton bring back key leaders to anchor their lineups.
North Attleboro returns six starters from last year’s co-champion squad, which makes the Rocketeers one of the teams to beat in the entire league. Head coach Steve Nelson’s group is highlighted by a mix of proven upperclassmen and a handful of underclassmen who have already competed at the varsity level.
Sophomores Maxx Zides and Lincoln Frisoli have led the way so far, each posting averages under 40, and Nelson has been impressed with their growth since last fall. Junior Evan Sawyer has been a consistent scorer while senior Caiden Alberigo brings valuable experience to the top of the lineup. Fellow seniors Ryan Backner, Alex Kojoian, and Matthew Reilly give North veteran depth that will come in handy in the tough divisional slate.
“We think we can be very competitive this year with six returning starters,” Nelson told HockomockSports last week. “So far, six of our team members are averaging under 40, which shows the balance and depth we have.”

Foxboro enters the fall with momentum and a lot of depth after tying for the Davenport crown last season and winning at Hocks. The Warriors lost four seniors, but the roster is bolstered by a record number of underclassmen and it certainly helps having the defending Hockomock and Division 2 state champion in senior Zac Georgantas.
Georgantas, who recently committed to Providence College, is joined by senior Colin Trimble and junior Ryan McGuire as captains, and both gained valuable experience last year and are poised to be consistent scorers for the Warriors this fall.
“Our captains are coming off strong summers competing in big events, and the depth of this roster is greater than we’ve had in past years,” said head coach Paul LaCerda. “The Davenport looks stronger across the board and we’re expecting some tremendous matches this fall.”
Foxboro continues to enjoy one of the league’s biggest home-course advantages at Foxboro Country Club, where fast greens and challenging tee shots test even the most experienced golfers. With more than half of the Warriors’ lineup holding memberships at the club, they’ll be difficult to beat on their home turf. Seniors Max Keen, Mike McCabe, Mike Ruo, and Brian Sullivan will all play key roles for the team this year.
One team to keep an eye on in the Davenport title hunt is Canton, which took a step forward last year and is aiming to take another leap into championship contention this fall. The Bulldogs bring back a deep roster with experienced golfers and have some new faces that will be in the mix right away. Senior captain Joey Ryan is coming off a strong season a year ago and has shown improvement in all aspects of his game.
Sophomores Harrison Weitz and Matt Ryan had big summers and are competing for top spots, while freshman Chase Thomas has impressed immediately, earning a place in the opening-day lineup.
“Chase has had a very impressive start and I’m confident he’ll make an immediate impact,” said head coach Mike Barucci. “We also have a lot of depth this season with guys returning that have match experience, which should help us in the close matches.”

Senior Teddy Shuman returns as a second-year captain, giving Canton steady leadership and another reliable scorer. With Blue Hill Country Club as their home course, the Bulldogs will be a tough team to beat.
Mansfield is looking to bounce back and jump into the title conversation after falling short last fall. The Hornets return a mix of veterans and young talent that gives head coach Chris Hall reason to be optimistic.
Senior captain Chase McDonald leads the way on and off the course, with classmates Jacob Bianchi and Mikey McCoy providing additional leadership. Juniors Anthony Diieso, Owen Adams, Chase Jordan, and Gavin Garnett all gained valuable experience last year and will factor into the scoring this fall.
Sophomore Alex Jastive had a strong finish to the 2024 campaign and is poised for a bigger role this season, while freshman Will Hogencamp has already made immediate impact in the lineup.
“This group brings a wealth of youth, talent, and competition,” Hall said. “They’re all multi-sport athletes who push each other to compete at the highest level, and they’ve been fun to be around every day.”
Oliver Ames was our pick for dark horse in the Davenport division — and they’ve already made some noise in the division with a rare win at Foxboro Country Club over the Warriors. The Tigers return just two varsity golfers from last year’s team but are banking on rapid development from a group of newcomers.
Senior co-captain Brendan Teehan will be a steadying force in the lineup after contributing a year ago, and sophomore Matthew Drohen is coming off a strong freshman campaign in which he scored in every match. Drohen is expected to be a focal point this fall.
“We’re going to be leaning on Brendan and Matthew, but I’ve already seen promise from our new group,” said head coach Ryan Riley. “This is one of the youngest teams I can remember, but they’re ready to be thrown into the fire.”

Junior Luke Brodsky and Zachary Barrett are expected to contribute, while freshmen Owen Smith and Anthony Shepard have already made an impact by scoring in early matches. OA may be young, but the Tigers are looking to embrace the challenge and set the foundation for the future.
The Kelley-Rex race once again figures to come down to rivals King Philip and Franklin, who have traded wins over the last several years; the Warriors bring back an experienced and talented lineup while the Panthers have some new faces eager to make their mark in the rivalry.
King Philip returns one of the deepest and most experienced lineups in the league, with 12 seniors making up the bulk of the roster. The Warriors are led by a pair of returning Hockomock League all stars — senior captains Evan Regan and Jason Silva — who headline a lineup that boasts six players that averaged under 40 in the preseason, including fellow senior captain Leo Dowling.
“This year’s team has been four years in the making with several starters that have been with us since their freshman year,” said head coach Myles McHugh. “Our goal is to win the Hockomock League title and advance past sectionals, and we’ll need contributions up and down the lineup to make that happen.”
Senior returners Dylan Daley, Henry Campbell, and Charlie Pelkey along with junior Collin Hasenfus give KP a ton of depth, and Wentworth Hills remains one of the toughest courses in the league, providing the Warriors with a strong home-course advantage. With crossover tests against Mansfield and North Attleboro and a non-league clash with Xaverian, KP will be well-prepared for their late-season matchups with the Panthers.
Franklin brings back nine players from last year’s squad, though just four regular starters. The Panthers will rely on their depth to push for a third straight Kelley-Rex crown. Head coach Bo Botelho has been impressed with the work ethic of his roster, which has shown significant improvement since the spring.

The Panthers will be led by juniors Ben Burgess and Tyler Perlman, who both surged during the second half of last season and carried momentum into the summer. Senior co-captains Gabe Rodrigues and Dylan O’Brien bring leadership and consistency, while sophomore Bryce Botelho is another golfer expected to play a major role after a strong offseason. Seniors Chris Shanahan, Vinny Spencer, and DJ Silverstein, junior Ayden Doyle, and sophomore Leo Swahn will all be in the mix for scoring as well.
“I have total confidence in every single one of my returning players,” Botelho said. “Practices are going to feel like real matches with the level of competition we have, and that will only make us better.”
Attleboro lost two all stars from last year’s team but has a group of experienced returners ready to step into bigger roles. Senior captains Ty Veronesi and Cam Elliott, along with junior Wes Butler, are expected to lead the way.
Head coach Mark Bonneau will also look for contributions from juniors Jon Wellington, Jackson Deyesso, Nick Friess, Mark Moran, and Nolyn Tremblay, along with sophomore Will Lyons.
Milford is in a similar boat as the Bombardiers. The Hawks graduated their top three golfers from a year ago but head coach Jason Potty is encouraged by the group of returners. Seniors Ricky Nashawaty, Eli Johnson, Aidan Eastman, and Logan Petruska bring leadership and experience, while juniors Lucas Richard and Ryan Flis have the potential to step into key scoring roles.
The Hawks will also get a boost from freshmen Ben Richard and Hank Richards, who are ready to contribute right away.
Sharon will be led by senior captains Shaun Fireman, Benny Hertzel, and Nate Root. Juniors Evan Binder, Sarah Scappaticci, and Mason Silverman provide depth for the Eagles, who will look to gain experience in the always-tough Kelley-Rex.
Stoughton continues to rebuild in a competitive division but will rely on the leadership of senior captain Aidan Lewis, along with fellow returner junior Gavin Alexson, to help guide a young Black Knights roster.
Taunton returns five of its starters, giving the Tigers stability and experience to build on. Senior Colby Emond, junior Jason Cashman, junior Jameson Vallarelli, sophomore Brayden Smith, and sophomore Logan Mendes make up a core that will look for some new faces to step in and add to the scoring.
