Sunday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 02/13/22

Boys Basketball
Attleboro, 57 vs. Catholic Memorial, 52 – Final – Attleboro senior Alvin Harrison dropped a team-high 18 points and junior Jaiden Outland had some key plays in the final minutes to help Bombardiers secure a win over visiting Catholic Memorial. Senior Colin Morais converted a tough layup with 1:30 to go to put the Bombardiers ahead 52-49, but CM made it a two-point game with a free throw. The Knights had a chance to tie the game after an Attleboro turnover with just a minute to go both Outland raced back and combined with Harrison to steal the ball back. Outland sank a key free throw, and then leading by just one, he scored on a breakout with just under 20 seconds left to make it 55-52. Morais finished with 10 points while Outland had a career-high nine points for Attleboro, who overcame a 30-21 halftime deficit, starting with a 20-point third quarter in which seven players scored.

Milford, 78 vs. Ludlow, 21 – Final – Milford had 12 players get into the scoring column in a big win over Ludlow, its second win in a three-day span. Freshman Gustavo Coutinho hit three of the Hawks’ 11 three-pointers and finished with a career-high 18 points to lead the offense. Senior Justin Luchini scored all of his 13 points in the first three quarters while freshman Andrew Rivera had nine of his 11 points in by halftime.

Taunton, 67 vs. Durfee, 54 – Final – Taunton senior Trent Santos sank five three-pointers and finished with 12 makes from the field for a game-high 35 points as the Tigers avenged their loss to the Hilltoppers in December. Faisal Mass added 20 points and sophomore Troy Santos chilled in with eight points for Taunton, who had a 36-32 lead at halftime.

Girls Basketball
North Attleboro, 45 @ Sharon, 49 – Final – Tess Letendre led three Eagles in double digits to help them split the season series with the Rocketeers. Sharon led by two at halftime, but North came up with 17 points in the third quarter to take a five-point lead into the fourth. Sharon held the visitors to just six points in the fourth quarter to pull out the win. The Eagles scored 15 in the final quarter, including 6-for-10 at the line. North was only 5-for-12 from the free throw line for the game. Jasmine Davis added 12 points and Rachael Hager scored 11. Summer Doherty was North’s top scorer with 14 and freshman Sam Faria added 10. Ava McKeon and Sam Sweeney each scored seven points in the loss.

Boys Hockey
Canton, 4 vs. Reading, 3 – Final (OT) – Eamon Kelly scored his second goal of the game to give Canton the overtime win and seal the Walter Brinn Division championship of the Ed Burns Coffee Pot Hockey Classic. Reading twice had the lead in the game but Kelly, who was named tournament MVP, tied it at 1-1 and Patrick Drury made it 2-2. AJ Thomas put the Bulldogs ahead for the first time late in the second period, but the Rockets were able to score with 27 seconds left in the third to force the extra period. It was Canton’s 15th straight win.

Franklin, 0 vs. Natick, 2 – Final

Girls Hockey
Franklin, 3 @ Mansfield/Oliver Ames, 2 – Final – Maggie McCaffrey scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner with three minutes left to play, to help the Panthers pick up the road win. Molly Hurley had the first goal for the Panthers while Lindsey Dennett, Shaw Downing, Samantha Wong, and Dana Stott each had an assist. Maeve Anastasia and Kylie O’Keefe each scored for MOAF, the latter tying the game at 2-2 with nine minutes to play. Cammy Shanteler, Cierra Doherty, and O’Keefe each had an assist for the Warriors.

Boys Basketball
Taunton, 52 @ Attleboro, 48 – Final – Taunton senior Trent Santos sank a pair of free throws with 4.9 seconds left to ice the win for the Tigers. Santos scored eight of his 16 points in the final frame, hitting of half of his four three-point field goals to lead the Tigers, who trailed 14-9 after a quarter but held the hosts to two points in the second quarter to seize a 20-16 edge at the break. A three-pointer from Attleboro’s Evan Houle put the Bombardiers up 41-38 with four minutes to go but Taunton sophomore Cyrus Morrisette finished a tough take to the rim, Tristan Herry (14 points) drew an offensive foul, and a layup from from Faisal Mass put the Tigers ahead 42-41. Colin Morais (20 points) hit two free throws as Attleboro jumped ahead again but a tough floater in the lane from Herry gave Taunton the lead again, this time for good. Santos added a three with 90 seconds to go to pad Taunton’s lead. Evan Houle added 14 points for the Bombardiers, hitting four three-pointers in the second half.

North Attleboro, 38 @ Canton, 59 – Final – Canton connected on eight of its 10 three-pointers in the first half, racing out to a big lead that it never relinquished in a win over North. Nate Mei (13 points) had two of his triples in the first eight minutes and Lanse Dorcelus scored 18 of his 20 points in the first half as Canton established double-digit leads at the end of the first quarter (21-10) and at halftime (38-15). Matt Chafin and Ashton Cetoute added third quarter triples to help the Bulldogs keep a large lead (51-26) going into the final quarter. Brody Rosenberg and Givany Carney each had 12 points for the Rocketeers.

Sharon, 64 @ Foxboro, 60 – Final – Locked in a close contest the entire way for the second straight game, Sharon emerged with a hard-fought victory on the road over Foxboro. The Eagles’ largest lead of the second half peaked at nine less than a minute into the second half, but it was closer than that the rest of the way. In fact, a 10-0 burst from the Warriors quickly erased that and the teams stayed within two possessions the rest of the way. Sharon carried a 53-51 lead into the fourth quarter and got five points from Matt Baur (16 points), four from Jacob McLoughlin (nine points) and a bucket from John Baez (nine points) to hold on for the win. Dylan Gordon (16 points) banked in a three with just under four minutes to to cut the deficit to one, 59-58 but a strong take from McLoughlin a minute later pushed it back to three. Alex Penders (16 points) cleaned up his own miss with 2:30 to go to one again cut it to one. McLoughlin hit a floater with under a minute to go and Baur added a free throw and the Eagles ended the game without giving up a point over the final two minutes. Donyae Pierre had a big first half for the Eagles, scoring all 12 of his points then to help the Eagles establish a 38-32 halftime lead.

King Philip, 63 @ Milford, 65 – Final – Milford senior Justin Luchini grabbed an offensive rebound and kissed it off the backboard with 1.6 seconds left to give the Scarlet Hawks the win over King Philip. Milford missed on its first layup attempt but Luchini (19 points) poked the rebound free and put it back up and in for the winner. Milford held a 42-29 lead at halftime before King Philip came storming back. Senior Paul Roberts added 14 points, freshman Andrew Rivera added nine points, and junior Wyatt Zagami chipped in with eight points for Milford.

Stoughton, 46 @ Oliver Ames, 42 – Final – Anchored by senior guard Josh Rivera, Stoughton had one of its best defensive performances to secure a road win at OA and its first season sweep of the Tigers since the 2010-2011 season. Defense was the story for both teams from the get go, with OA taking an 8-7 lead after one and Stoughton carrying a 17-14 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Black Knights got the offense going, closing the third on a run capped by a three from junior Rayan Sablon (career-high 26 points) at the buzzer. Sablon went on to score 10 points in the fourth for Stoughton, who pushed the lead to as much as nine before a couple of threes from OA’s Zach Tagliamonte (10 points). Rivera capped it with three free throws down the stretch. CJ Williams added a team-high 12 points for the Tigers.

Girls Basketball
Attleboro, 81 @ Taunton, 47 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. – Attleboro’s offense was clicking on all cylinders on Friday night, as the Bombardiers scored at least 19 points in each quarter to pull out the road win. Meghan Gordon scored 30 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead Attleboro, which also got 12 points and 14 rebounds off the bench from freshman Vanessa Ellis. Taunton started well on senior night, as Olivia Gannon scored all eight of her points and Abby Souza scored four of her nine in the first quarter, but Gordon was also on fire from the opening tip, matching Taunton’s total with 14 points in the first eight minutes. Attleboro extended its lead in the second with Gordon scoring seven and the Bombardiers knocking down three triples. Kameron St. Pierre (team-high 16 points) kept the Tigers close by knocking down four from deep and racking up 12 points. Attleboro stormed out of the break with a 22-point third quarter to break the game open. Gordon added another seven, while Lindsey Perry scored six and Lily Routhier added four. Kayla Goldrick scored nine points and dished out eight assists for the Bombardiers, while Routhier, Perry, and Avery Vieira had eight points apiece. Cali Melo had four points, three steals, and three assists and Jillian Doherty had four points for the Tigers.

Canton, 71 @ North Attleboro, 41 – Final – Kiara Cerruti scored a game-high 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs to the road win. In the process, Cerruti became the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,068 points, surpassing the 1,057 points of Eileen Morneau. The game was tied at 7-7 after one, but then Canton went on a run, outscoring North 21-5 in the second to take control. Both teams found a rhythm on offense in the third, as they combined for 36 points, but a 24-12 fourth quarter put the game away for the Bulldogs. Fay Gallery added 13 points, five rebounds, and seven assists and Erin Beatty had eight points and six boards for Canton. Maia Mahoney added six points and Han Hong had four assists in the win. Summer Doherty was North’s top scorer, finishing with 15 points (all in the second half) and Taylor McMath had seven.

Foxboro, 72 @ Sharon, 52 – Final – Foxboro bounced back with a big win on the road and clinched its place in the state tournament. The Warriors were led by its underclassman backcourt, as freshman Kailey Sullivan scored a career-high 26 points and sophomore Camryn Collins finished with 24. Jasmine Davis scored 19 points to lead the Eagles and Rachael Hager added 17.

Franklin, 65 @ Mansfield, 34 – Final

Milford, 29 @ King Philip, 35 – Final – The Warriors outscored Milford 11-5 in the fourth quarter to pull out a defensive struggle. The first quarter was a struggle for both teams on the offensive end and finished 5-4. In the second, KP found the range to score 13 points and extend the lead to eight at the break. Maddie Paschke and Leah Santoro each scored four points in the quarter to help KP build its lead. Both would finish with six on the night. The Hawks stormed back in the third, coming out of halftime with a 14-6 quarter to tie things up heading to the fourth. Maddalena Mannucci Pacini scored six of her game-high 11 points in the third and Emily Croteau added all four of her points in the frame. KP got baskets from five different players in the fourth and held Milford to two made baskets to seal the win. Emily Sawyer led the way for the Warriors with eight points and Julia Marsden added five. Jill Araujo scored five for the Hawks and Khatrina Leger chipped in with four.

Oliver Ames, 70 @ Stoughton, 27 – Final – Oliver Ames built a double-digit lead by halftime and never looked back in a win on the road at Stoughton. Caroline Peper and Jasmyn Cooper each scored 15 points for the Tigers, who led 31-15 at the halftime break. Anna Murphy chipped in with 10 points for the visitors. Senior Kate Bulger led all scorers for Stoughton with 11 points and sophomore Alyssa Edwards grabbed eight boards.

Mansfield, 2 @ Canton, 7 – Final

Girls Hockey
Canton, 4 vs. Lincoln-Sudbury, 0 – Final – Audrey Koen scored a pair of goals and Carolyn Durand made 19 saves to earn the shutout, as Canton picked up a big non-league win. It is the fifth straight win for the Bulldogs. Tess Khoury scored one and had a pair of assists, while Payton McDonough had a goal and assist. Allie McCabe had two helpers in the win.

Girls Basketball
Foxboro, 39 vs. Wachusett, 50 – Final – Click here for a photo gallery of this game. Foxboro got off to a strong start on Wednesday against unbeaten Wachusett, leading 11-8 after one, but struggled to maintain its offensive output and the experienced Mountaineers made the plays down the stretch to pick up the win. Camryn Collins was the top scorer for Foxboro with 14 points, scoring five each in the first and the third. Hannah Blake also had a big game for the Warriors with 13 pints and 14 rebounds. Erin Foley chipped in with seven points and Kailey Sullivan added five. The Warriors had the lead down to four in the fourth quarter (36-32) before Wachusett senior Charlotte Head took over. She scored nine of her game-high 19 in the fourth and Wachusett closed the game on a 14-7 run to win by double digits.

North Attleboro, 39 @ Franklin, 60 – Final – Franklin jumped out to a 35-16 lead by halftime and never looked back, picking up its fourth win in four days and clinching the outright Kelley-Rex title in the process. Stefany Padula led the way for the Panthers, burying four three-pointers and scoring a game-high 20 points, including eight points in the first as Franklin led 17-8. Padula added another seven points in the second, helping the Panthers score another 18 points in the quarter. Olivia Quinn hit a pair of threes and scored 12 points and Katie Peterson added 11. Brigid Earley and Julia White each scored six points in the win. North’s offense got going in the second half, as the Rocketeers scored 23 points (including a 13-6 fourth quarter), but it wasn’t enough to close the gap. Sam Faria was North’s top scorer with eight points, including a pair from downtown, while Abby Camelio added seven. Summer Doherty scored six and Ava McKeon scored five in the loss.

Stoughton, 24 @ Mansfield, 51 – Final – Mansfield used its defense to pull out a win on Tuesday and was dominant again on Wednesday for a third win in the last four days. After a 13-9 first quarter, the Hornets held Stoughton to just four points in the second, seven in the third, and four in the fourth. The Hornets are now just one win away from clinching a playoff berth. Abby Wager had a game-high 13 points for the Hornets, scoring all of her points in the second and third quarters. Bridget Hanley added six in the third, on a pair of threes, and had 11 for the game. Kara Santos added 10 points and Olivia Salisbury had seven for the Hornets. For Stoughton, senior forward Vanessa Phelimond grabbed 10 boards and had eight points, Kate Bulger scored six points, and freshman Leah McCarty chipped in with seven points and seven boards.

Attleboro, 1 @ Franklin, 9 – Final – Eight different Panthers found the back of the net as Franklin celebrated senior night with a win over visiting Attleboro. Dan Daley scored a pair of third period goals for the Panthers while Ryan Sicchio, Ben Jarosz, Aiden Linehan, Aiden Kuykendall, Ben Paterson, Tommy Balducci, and Domenic Lampasona each found the back of the net once. Nate Parker scored an unassisted second period goal for Attleboro while Nick Piazza turned away 45 shots in net.

Stoughton, 8 vs. Wareham, 0 – Final – Stoughton notched a key win in its push for a spot in the Division 3 State Tournament, knocking off visiting Wareham/Carver. Colby Strunk led the offense with four goals while Cooper Card, Josh Greenspoon and Steven Westerlund scored a goal each. Chris Andrade and Sean McGowan combined for the shutout for the Black Knights.

Stoughton/Sharon, 0 @ Mansfield/Oliver Ames, 8 – Final – Click here for a photo gallery of this game. – Mansfield/Oliver Ames exploded for six goals in the middle period in a win over visiting Stoughton/Sharon. Cataline Kipp scored a pair of goals for the Warriors while Kylie O’Keefe, Maeve Anastasia, Ava Adams, Erin DiCenzo, Madison Guilfoyle, and Samantha Ledin each lit the lamp once. Jess Widdop recorded the shutout in net for MOAF. Janelle Murphy played well in net for Stoughton/Sharon.

Taunton, 67 @ Bristol Plymouth, 6 – Final – Taunton knocked off city rival Bristol-Plymouth to claim the City of Taunton Championships and Christian Balmain became the program’s all-time wins record with his 114th career win. Balmain surpassed former team captain Keith Porazzo, who held the previous record at 113. Michael Leskoski, Ryan Jones, Brandon Mendes, Anthony Vieira, Xavier Sandoval, Ben Mandeville, John Mandeville, Elijah Prophete, Peter Ye, Logan Frank, and Robert Tran also won for the Tigers.

Attleboro, 52 @ Milford, 38 – Final

Stoughton, 50 @ Canton, 70 – Final – After struggling to find its shooting touch over the weekend on the road, Canton was on fire from downtown in its win over Stoughton. Canton came out hitting from three-point range right from the start with five trifectas in the first quarter, and eight by halftime, leading to a 34-27 lead at the break. The Bulldogs added four more in the third and finished with 14 made threes, and senior Lanse Dorcelus scored all of his 16 points in the second half as Canton pulled away (58-38) going into the final quarter. Matt Chafin hit on four threes and finished with 16 points, Nate Mei hit two threes and had 10 points, and a total of eight different Bulldogs made a three-pointer. Stoughton junior Rayan Sablon head a game-high 19 points.

Foxboro, 43 @ North Attleboro, 59 – Final – North Attleboro’s defense limited visiting Foxboro to single digits in each the second and third quarters, and the Rocketeers created separation with a big third quarter to earn the upset win. The Rocketeers took a 26-22 lead into the locker room and then limited the Warriors to seven points in the third. Meanwhile, the offense came alive for 16 points as junior Givany Carney scored six of his career-high 17 points and senior Brody Rosenberg had five of his team-high 20 points to take a 42-29 lead into the fourth quarter. North had six players contribute to its 17-point fourth quarter and went 9-for-13 from the line over the final eight minutes. Junior Alex Penders led Foxboro with 23 points while Dylan Gordon added 11 points.

King Philip, 60 @ Mansfield, 74 – Final – King Philip exploded for 27 points in the second quarter to seize a halftime lead but Mansfield responded with over 20 points in each the third and fourth quarters to get the win. The Warriors trailed 22-10 after the opening quarter but then won the third 27-9, including a 21-0 run, to take a 37-31 lead into the locker room. Freshman Tommy Kilroy came in and scored all of his 11 points in the second to spark KP’s run. The Hornets got back on track in the third as Matt Hyland scored seven of his 15 points, sophomore Trevor Foley added five of his 18 points, and senior Andrew Slaney had five of his career-high 22 points to help the Hornets jump back in front, 52-49. Mansfield kept its foot on the pedal in the fourth with Slaney adding nine more and Foley added six while the visiting Warriors were held to 23 second half points. Will Laplante added 15 points while both Grant Kinney and Tommy Martorano added 11 points each for KP.

Oliver Ames, 64 @ Sharon, 60 – Final – Oliver Ames emerged with a key division win in a close contest on the road at Sharon, splitting the season series. Neither team saw a double-digit lead as the contest stayed close throughout, OA leading leading at the end of each quarter, including a slim 37-35 lead at halftime and a 49-45 advantage going into the fourth. Junior Zach Tagliamonte led the charge for the Tigers with 25 points while CJ Williams gave the visitors a big boost with 13 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Nate Katznelson scored a team-high 20 points while Matt Baur added 17 points.

Girls Basketball
Milford, 29 @ Attleboro, 55 – Final – Attleboro put together a strong defensive performance to put an end to a three-game losing streak. The Bombardiers held Milford to 10 or fewer points in each quarter and jumped out to a 32-10 lead by halftime to break the game open early. Meghan Gordon and Lily Routhier each scored 11 points for Attleboro, which also got eight points from Lindsey Perry and seven points from Vanessa Ellis. Maddalena Mannucci Pacini had 11 for the Hawks. Erin Michelson and Jill Araujo each scored four points in the loss.

Canton, 63 @ Stoughton, 38 – Final – Canton bounced back from a tough loss to OA on Monday but pulling out a road win just 24 hours later. Fay Gallery led the way for the Bulldogs, scoring 24 points, grabbing six boards, dishing out six assists, and recording eight steals. Kiara Cerruti added 16 points and four boards and Sydney Gallery had 12 points and eight rebounds in the win. Senior Vanessa Phelimond played well on both ends of the floor and Makaiyah Singleton Rivera was a great spark in the second half for Stoughton

North Attleboro, 38 @ Foxboro, 66 – Final – Foxboro broke the game open with 22 points in the second quarter, running out to a big win. Camryn Collins and Kailey Sullivan each scored 18 points for the Warriors, while Hannah Blake (11 points) and Erin Foley (10 points) both reached double digits as well. North was down only three after one, using a good zone defense to slow Foxboro down, but the Rocketeers struggled to keep up on the other end of the court. Summer Doherty led North in scoring with 14 points and freshman Maryellen Charette added 10.

Franklin, 59 @ Taunton, 33 – Final – Taunton was tied with Franklin late in the third quarter, but the Panthers, playing their third game in three days, caught fire in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Tigers 26-5 in the final period, to pull out the win. With the victory, Franklin clinches at least a share of the Kelley-Rex division title. Katie Peterson, Olivia Quinn, and Brigid Earley each scored seven points in the fourth to propel Franklin to the win. Peterson led all scorers with 17, while Quinn finished with 16 and Earley had 11. Stefany Padula added 10 points on three triples in the win. Kameron St. Pierre was Taunton’s top scorer with 16 points. Olivia Gannon chipped in with six points and Cali Melo had four.

Sharon, 20 @ Oliver Ames, 65 – Final – Oliver Ames started off strong with a big opening quarter and never looked back in a win over Sharon, clinching at least a share of the Davenport division title. All seven of OA’s seniors had a hand in the win with Caroline Peper leading the way with 15 points. Anna Murphy had a double-double in the win with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Attleboro, 46 @ Newton South, 51 – Final

Franklin, 68 vs. St. Paul Diocesan, 25 – Final – Franklin tossed a shutout in the second quarter and then allowed only one point in the fourth to earn its second big win in as many days. All 14 players got on the score sheet for the Panthers, led by Katie Peterson’s game-high 17. Caelyn Leonard hit a three to close out the first with Franklin ahead 13-8 and then the Panthers put together a 16-0 second quarter to take full control of the game. Leonard scored all nine of her points in the first half. After edging a shooting in the third, Franklin closed the game with a 22-1 fourth quarter. Brigid Earley scored six points and Stefany Padula and Olivia Quinn each had five points in the win.

Girls Basketball
Attleboro, 31 @ Franklin, 62 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. Franklin dominated the first and third quarters and rolled to a big win over the second place team in the Kelley-Rex. The Panthers opened the game on fire, taking the first quarter 24-7. Attleboro played nearly even in the second (10-8), but the Franklin stormed out of halftime with an 18-4 third to put the game out of reach. Franklin’s full-court press and interior defense proved too much, as the Panthers have allowed only three teams in 11 games to score more than 33 points in a game. Katie Peterson led all scorers with 15 points, and added two blocks and three steals. Stefany Padula chipped in with 10 points, eight of them in the first quarter. Brigid Earley scored seven and had three blocks and Olivia Quinn scored six points. Attleboro was led by Meghan Gordon, who scored eight points despite being under the weather. Rylie Camacho added five and Sarah Maher and Lily Routhier each scored four for the Bombardiers.

Mansfield, 45 vs. Fontbonne, 32 – Final – Kara Santos scored 18 points and Mansfield held Fontbonne to 10 or fewer points in each quarter to pull out a non-league win in the rescheduled finale of the Hornets’ holiday tournament. Santos, who was named to the all-tournament team, scored six points apiece in the first and third quarters. Mansfield held a 13-7 lead after the first, extended it by a point in the second, and then pushed it to double digits in the third. The fourth quarter was a defensive stalemate, with both teams scoring seven points, as the Hornets closed out the win. Abby Wager had nine points for the Hornets, while Rose Maher knocked down a pair of threes for six points, and Bridget Hanley added five in the win.

Taunton, 52 @ New Bedford, 49 – Final – Taunton rallied in the final minute to pull out a non-league road win against the Whalers. Kameron St. Pierre led all scorers with 25 points. The junior guard knocked down three from beyond the arc and shot 8-of-9 from the line. The game was tied at 12 after one, with St. Pierre scoring eight points for the Tigers, including a pair of threes. New Bedford grabbed a three-point lead going into halftime, but the Tigers answered back with strong third quarter to go ahead by four. The Whalers battled back in the fourth, leading 47-46 in the final minute, but then Taunton closed on a 6-2 run to seal the win. Olivia Gannon had a big night for Taunton scoring 12 points and grabbing 15 boards. Jillian Doherty added 11 points in the win.

King Philip, 52 @ Taunton, 44 – Final – Emily Sawyer scored 12 of her game-high 18 points in the second half to help the Warrior hold off Taunton and pick up a road win. KP led 13-9 after the first quarter and extended its lead to five points at halftime. The teams were even in the third quarter, so the Warriors kept their five-point edge going into the the fourth. KP outscored Taunton 16-13 over the final eight minutes to secure the victory. Julia Marsden added 12 points for KP and Jackie Bonner had six. Kameron St. Pierre was Taunton’s top scorer with 16 points, including 11 in the second half. Jillian Doherty chipped in with 13 for the Tigers and Cali Melo had nine points before fouling out in the fourth quarter.

Boys Hockey
Stoughton, 1 @ Foxboro, 4 – Final – Foxboro senior Ben Ricketts found the back of the net twice to help the Warriors skate to a non-league win over Stoughton/Brockton. Ricketts scored the first goal for Foxboro and then the third goal, assists from Steve Bridges and Alex Coveillo on the first and Coviello again on his second. Derek Axon’s unassisted shorthanded goal proved to be the game-winner while Matt Grace (from Tom Marcucella and Brett Axon) tacked on a key insurance goal. Sophomore Trevor Marder played well in net for the Warriors with 24 saves. Anthony DeSousa scored the lone goal for the Black Knights.

King Philip, 2 @ Bridgewater-Raynham, 3 – Final (OT)

Girls Hockey
Canton, 5 vs. Dennis-Yarmouth, 2 – Final

King Philip, 4 @ Mansfield/Oliver Ames, 2 – Final – Kelly Holmes scored twice and Sydney O’Shea and Morgan Cunningham lit the lamp once each as King Philip skated to a league win over Mansifeld/Oliver Ames. Both Holmes and O’Shea also had a pair of assists and Cunningham had one, and Mallory Johnston had 19 saves in net for KP.

Stoughton/Sharon, 2 vs. St. Joseph’s Prep, 6 – Final – Ava Buckley accounted for both of Stoughton/Sharon’s goals but the Knights fell to St. Joseph’s Prep. Zoe Bangs assisted on both goals while Peri Rodman recorded one helper.

Wrestling
D2 State Dual Meet (Oliver Ames, Sharon, Mansfield, Milford, North Attleboro), 10:00 (@ North Andover) – Milford won three meets to claim the D2 State Dual championship while Oliver Ames took third and Sharon rounded out the top four. The Scarlet Hawks picked up a win over Plymouth South (60-18) to advance to the semifinal, where they secured a win over the Tigers (42-24). In the championship round, Milford pinned down a win over Minnechaug (52-22). Oliver Ames opened with a win over Mansfield (56-21), moved to the semifinals with a win over Dracut/Tyngsboro (43-33), and then after falling to Milford, rallied to avenge its league loss to Sharon with a come-from-behind 35-32 win, capped by a pin from heavyweight Jaden Hinton. Hinton, Kyle Hardie (145), Giovany Juste (170), and Nathan Lipski (132) went 4-0 on the day. Chris Mills (220) rallied for a win that cut the Sharon lead to three going into the last match, won by Hinton.

Brockton Quad (Taunton) – Taunton had another impressive day on the mat, picking up four wins at the Brockton Super Quad. The Tigers secured wins over Woburn (78-6), Quincy/North Quincy (63-12), Brockton (45-24), and Xaverian (52-27). Six Taunton grapplers went 4-0 on the day: Michael Leskoski, Anthony Vieira, Xavier Sandoval, Christian Balmain, Ethan Harris, and Peter Ye.

Mansfield/Oliver Ames, 2 @ Franklin, 5 – Final – Freshman Julia Flynn had another stellar showing on the offensive end and Franklin secured a win over Mansfield/Oliver Ames in the first meeting of the season. Flynn scored four goals to pace the Panthers while Molly Hurley added another goal in the win. Ava Villella recorded three assists in the win while Shaw Downing had a pair of helpers. Kylie O’Keefe and Cammy Shanteler each scored once for the Warriors.

Boys Basketball
Canton, 48 @ Southeastern, 52 – Final – Canton made a final push in the fourth quarter but couldn’t quite catch Southeastern. The Bulldogs fell behind 21-12 after a quarter and were chasing the rest of the way. Southeastern carried a 46-39 lead into the final quarter, and Canton upped its defensive intensity to limit the hosts to just six points in the final frame but just couldn’t close the gap by the final buzzer. Matt Chafin led the way for Canton with 17 points, Lanse Dorcelus added nine points, and Jacob Solomon scored all eight of his points in the fourth quarter.

Mansfield, 54 @ Bridgewater-Raynham, 55 – Final – Mansfield held a three-point lead after a quarter and at halftime, and had a four-point advantage going into the fourth, but Bridgewater-Raynham was able to keep it close and scored the winning basket just before the buzzer to steal the win. Junior Chris Hill scored a career-high 23 points to lead the offensive charge for the Hornets. Matt Hyland added 13 points and Anthony Sachetti chipped in with 12 points for the Hornets.

Attleboro, 47 @ Bishop Feehan, 43 – Final – Sophomore Neo Franco sank a pair of free throws with 13 seconds left to push the lead to four and Attleboro held on for a season sweep over the Shamrocks. Attleboro had a five-point lead at 32-27 going into the fourth quarter and, for the second straight game, opening the final period with a big run to extend its advantage. Joe Francois-Annevil drove to the rim for his only bucket of the game, Franco hit a three, and Colin Morais (team-high 15 points) converted a traditional three-point play as Attleboro’s lead ballooned to 40-27 in the first 90 seconds of the fourth. Feehan cut it down to two with just over a minute to go but Alvin Harrison (nine points) had another traditional three-point play to keep the Bombardiers ahead. Evan Houle (nine points) hit two threes in the first and Jake Struminski and Morais each had one as Attleboro raced out to a 18-7 lead. Feehan battled back to make it 25-21 at half, and then trailed Attleboro by five going into the fourth.

Girls Basketball
Franklin, 71 vs. Bishop Fenwick, 48 – Final – Two players scored more than 20 points and the Panthers scored at least 17 points in every quarter to earn an impressive non-league win against another top 10-ranked team. Katie Peterson led the way for Franklin, scoring 16 of her team-high 22 in the second half. Stefany Padula added 20 points and Olivia Quinn had 12 in the win. Franklin led 18-10 after one and had a 10-point edge at halftime. After pushing the lead to 15 through three quarters, Peterson (eight), Padula (six), and Quinn (four) combined for 18 points in the fourth to put the game away and seal the win.

Boys Hockey
Foxboro, 6 @ Attleboro, 1 – Final – Foxboro erupted for five goals in the second period during its win over Attleboro. The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a nice backhand goal from freshman Dan Jacobs. Senior Ben Ricketts had a pair of goals in the win while Matt Grace, Tom Marcucella, and Dylan Pothier each scored won.

Stoughton/Sharon, 3 vs. Cambridge R&L, 7 – Final – Ava Buckley scored a pair of goals but Stoughton fell to visiting Cambridge Rindge and Latin. Zoe Bangs added a goal and an assist while Lily Dinh and Mikayla Snyder each had an assists as well.

Foxboro, 44 @ Mansfield, 33 – Final

Oliver Ames, 30 @ Taunton, 49 – Final – In a battle of two of the top five teams in the Hock, Taunton pinned down a win over visiting Oliver Ames. Michael Leskoski, Ryan Jones, Brandon Mendes, Xavier Sandoval, Ben Mandeville, Christian Balmain, Elijah Prophete, Peter Ye and Logan Frank had wins for Taunton.

Sharon, 36 vs. Andover, 37 – Final – Adam Landstein , Cam Birnbaum, Nick Varvak, Ben Shocket, Ben Grabie , Philip Varvak, and Cormac Horlbogen each won for the Eagles, who fell in a tight non-league clash with Andover.
