Baseball
Franklin, 4 @ Attleboro, 5 – Final – Down to its last out, Attleboro rallied to tie the game and junior Austin Taliaferro followed with the game-winning hit as the Bombardiers walked off with their first win over Franklin in nearly a decade (2017). The Bombardiers let a two-run lead slip when the Panthers rallied to take the lead with three runs in the top of the sixth. Junior Dylan Rosa had a one-out single to left and moved to second on a ground out. Junior Ben Lally came through with a shot to right and the ball got past a sliding attempt and went all the way to the fence, allowing Rosa to score to tie the game and Lally to get to third. Taliaferro got just enough on an 0-1 pitch to drop in over the second baseman and in front of the right fielder to give Attleboro the thrilling win. The Panthers wasted little time taking the lead as senior Jack Sullivan led off the game with a double, took third on a wild pitch, and scored on an RBI single from classmate Sean Kryzak. The lead didn’t last as the hosts plated a trio of runs in the bottom half. Ryan Landry, who led off with a triple, scored on a sac fly from Lally, and Tatum Cambridge plated Taliaferro and Jeremy O’Hara, who had back-to-back walks, with a double to center. Attleboro held its 3-1 lead into the sixth inning; Cam Lambert walked, Drake McAlpine reached on an error, and Joey Goguen had a bunt single to load the bases with no outs. Ethan Herndon and Henry George each had an RBI groundout to tie the game, and courtesy runner James Amaru scampered home on a wild pitch to give Franklin a 4-3 lead. Jeremy O’Hara had a solid start for the Panthers, giving up just one run on one hit and one walk, striking out six in four innings and Jake Westwater tossed a scoreless inning in relief with a pair of strikeouts.
Oliver Ames, 9 @ Canton, 6 – Final – Oliver Ames secured its second straight win on the road, overcoming an early four-run deficit behind a 13-hit outburst at Canton. The Bulldogs came out flying in the first with four runs, including a two-run single from Tommy Rose. OA got a run back in the top of the third but Canton regained its four-run advantage in the fourth. The Tigers were able to flip the game with a big fifth inning, pushing six runs across to take the lead for the first time. Alex Saade cleared the bases with a three-run double and then scored on a double from Zane Prescott to tie it 5-5. With two outs, Grayson Reed came through with a clutch single to bring in two more to put OA ahead 7-5. The hosts made it a one-run game when Will Young reached on an infield single and Daniel Ferrera, who reached on a single in the previous at-bat, came around to score when the throw sailed high. Reed and Jayden Levine came through with RBI singles in the seventh to give OA two key insurance runs. Levine led OA with three hits while Saade, Tarren Lawless, Reed, and Tommy Regan each had two hits. Young and Gavin Davis each had two hits for Canton.
Foxboro, 18 @ Stoughton, 6 – Final (6 Inn.) – Foxboro was cruising going into the bottom of the third inning with a sizable lead but Stoughton’s offense came alive and the Black Knights scored six runs in the bottom half. An inning later, the hosts had the tying run at the plate with the bases loaded and no outs. Foxboro senior Trevor Franco put an end to the hosts’ comeback bid. Franco got a strikeout and then induced a double play to escape the jam and any further damage and the Warriors went on to score nine unanswered runs over the next three innings to pull away for a big win. Foxboro scored twice in the first, added four more in the second, and plated a trio of runs in the third to stake a 9-0 lead. Stoughton’s Gavin Alexson had an RBI triple, Joel Short drove in a run with a base hit, and Kyle Bunker cleared the bases with a three-run triple, and then scored on a wild pitch to close the gap to 9-6. Brayden Jones got one back for Foxboro with an RBI double in the fourth to make it 10-6. Patrick McLaughlin (HBP), Alexson (single), and Short (HBP) loaded the bases in the fourth before Franco shut it down. Franco retired the side in order in the fifth and worked around a two-out single in the sixth to end it for the three-inning save. Foxboro senior Harrison Lamson had a day to remember at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBI including his first career home run — a bomb to center field in the second — and then his second career home run — a two-run shot to deep left. Aidan Stow (RBI, four runs), Nick Hardiman (three RBI), and Jones (four RBI) each had two hits and sophomore Gavin Smith had a pinch-hit RBI triple. Alexson went 4-for-4 for the Black Knights with two singles, a double, and a triple, and Bunker had two hits.

Taunton, 8 @ Sharon, 2 – Final – Senior Joey Benoit homered for the third time in the last four games and junior Max Kaplan delivered a strong pitching performance as Taunton rolled on the road in Sharon. The Tigers plated a pair in the first inning, highlighted by Jeremy Knief’s RBI triple, and added one more in the third on Benoit’s leadoff solo home run to left. The Tigers blew the game open with a four-run fourth inning, scoring all the runs with two outs. Knief drove in two with a single up the middle and junior Angel Rodriguez plated two more with a double in the next at-bat as the lead ballooned to 7-0. Benoit added an RBI double in the sixth before Sharon got on the board in the bottom half on a two-out RBI single from Mason Silverman. Benoit, Knief, and Brevan Rogers each had two hits for Taunton. Kaplan scattered five hits in a complete game effort, giving up two runs (one earned) while striking out five and issuing no walks. Brady Shuffain went 2-for-3 for the Eagles with a double and a triple.
King Philip, 7 @ Milford, 6 – Final – Johnny Prater scored the tying run and Alex Labell drove in the game-winning run in the top of the seventh as King Philip came out on top in a see-saw battle with Milford at Fino Field. The Warriors went up by a run in the top of the sixth but the Scarlet Hawks answered with a pair of runs in the bottom half, taking a 6-5 lead into the final inning. Down to their last three outs, the Warriors rallied to tie it and regain the lead. Johnny Prater reached on a fielder’s choice and then stole both second and third. Jacoby Cady laid down a bunt and the throw to home was high as Prater slid in to knot the score at 6-6. Cady took off for second during the next at-bat and was in safely after a wild pitch. On a 1-2 count, Labell drilled a double to right field to bring Cady in to go up 7-6. Nick Broughton tossed a scoreless seventh, retiring the side in order to close out the win. Labell finished 3-for-4 from the leadoff spot with two RBI and a run scored and Thomas Lutfy added two hits and an RBI for KP. Ryan Atherton and Vincent Loscerbo each had two hits for the Scarlet Hawks.
Softball
Canton, 8 @ Oliver Ames, 9 – Final – Oliver Ames rallied back from an early deficit and then held off a seventh inning rally from Canton to get back into the win column. The Bulldogs had an early three-run lead before the Tigers clawed back, surging ahead by a run with a three-run fourth inning. Canton tied the game at 6-6 on an RBI single from Kennedy Burke but OA freshman Stella Morris deposited a solo home run — the first of her career — over the fence in left, junior Logan Macomber drove in a run with a single to center and then scored on a two-out error and the Tigers never trailed again. Holding a 9-6 lead in the seventh, Fiona Trendell and Burke had back-to-back hits to bring the Bulldogs within one and the visitors put the tying run on second but the Tigers got the final two outs to close it out. Morris finished 3-for-3 with two doubles to go along with her home run, and both Ella O’Keefe and Macomber had two hits apiece. Canton freshman Lauren Chiulli hit her first career home run — a three-run shot in the second inning — to put the Bulldogs ahead early and finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate while Burke, Trendell, Parker Marcelonis (two runs), and Rori Sasin (two-run double) each had two hits.

North Attleboro, 6 @ Mansfield, 3 – Final – North scored three runs in each of the first and fourth innings to seal its fourth straight win and move within a game of 0.500 on the season. With two outs in the first, Grace Forman’s pop up wasn’t handled and Lindsey DeGirolamo (single) and Molly Willey (walk) both came in to score. Gracyn Cuzzi drove in Forman with a single and put North up 3-0. Mansfield got one back in the third. Emmy Peterson singled to right to bring in Dani Jameson (single). North answered right back with three more runs. Kate Juergens singled in Lucy Palmer and Jill Lewicki followed with a hit to left that plated Maiya Martelli (reached on error) and DeGirolamo (walk) for a 6-1 edge. The Hornets chipped away at the lead scoring once each in the sixth and seventh innings. In the sixth, Gabby Rogers singled in freshman Courtney Keenan. An inning later, Riley Zukowski took advantage of a pitch getting away to make it 6-3. Forman capped the win with a strikeout. She worked around 10 walks, striking out seven and allowing just five hits. Cuzzi (2-for-4) and DeGirolamo (2-for-3) each had a pair of hits for the Rocketeers.
Sharon, 4 @ Taunton, 18 – Final (5 Inn.) – Taunton won its seventh straight, erupting for a dozen runs in the bottom of the fourth to turn a three-run game into a comfortable win. The visiting Eagles pulled within one in the top of the second and plated a pair in the top of the fourth to get within 6-3, but the Tigers’ offense roared to life in the fourth to run away with it. Seniors Gracia Oliveira and Grace Bennett sandwiched RBI singles around a two-run double from classmate Meghan Krockta early on in the frame while Grace Simmons, Mia Torres, and Tori Corrao all had consecutive RBI hits later in the frame. Torres (four runs), Bella Bourque (four runs), and Oliveira (five RBI) each had three hits, junior Kaylee Lopes added two hits, including a triple, and Bennett finished with three RBI. Sharon freshman Isla Tammaro went 3-for-3 from the leadoff spot with a walk, RBI, and a run scored, freshman Libby Brimhall added two RBI, and freshman Allie Lee chipped in with two hits for the Eagles.
Attleboro, 1 @ Franklin, 10 – Final – Franklin scored seven runs in its final two at-bats to pull away and pick up a marquee win against an Attleboro team that is in the top five in Div. 1. Ciara O’Brien and Phoebe O’Connor each had three hits for the Panthers and Amelia Rakitin had a pair of hits and three RBI. The hosts took the lead in the second. Zoe Williams doubled with two outs to plate Michaela O’Brien (reached on an error). Williams would score on a passed ball. Attleboro halved the deficit in the third when Lola Ronyane’s grounder scored Nina Sullivan (walk). Ava Florest got it back in the bottom half, singling in Sophia Sacramone (fielder’s choice). Rakitin gave Franklin a cushion in the fifth with a single that drove in Sacramone and Ciara O’Brien. In the sixth, the Panthers put the game away. Ciara O’Brien, Brooke Gatewood, Rakitin, and Michaela O’Brien had consecutive RBI singles. Ciara O’Brien picked up the win in the circle, striking out seven and allowing just one hit (a single by Jenna Callahan) over four innings. Sacramone closed out the game with three scoreless innings of relief.
Milford, 0 @ King Philip, 5 – Final – Ali Gill went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double and drove in four of KP’s five runs, while fellow senior McCoy Walsh dominated in the circle, striking out 13 (including the 800th of her career) and allowing just two hits, as KP kept pace with league leading Taunton. Gill kicked off senior night in style, smacking a two-run homer to center in the bottom of the first to give KP a perfect start. Emma Flaherty (double) scored on the blast. The score stayed the same until a three-run rally in the fifth. Kelley Donahue singled and moved up on Annabelle Curran’s sac bunt and Flaherty followed with a single. With runners at second and third, Gill doubled to left and plated both runners. She would come home as well on Lauren Griffin’s RBI groundout. Walsh struck out at least two batters in four of the seven innings and went the distance to pick up the win. Ava Baglione and Angelina Bonina had the hits for Milford.
Boys Lacrosse
Sharon, 4 @ Bishop Feehan, 14 – Final
Canton, 5 @ Mansfield, 14 – Final – Mansfield coach Tim Frias earned his 200th career win and the Hornets maintained their unbeaten record with a convincing non-league win over the Bulldogs. After being held to a season-low nine goals in the first meeting back in the opening week, Mansfield scored seven goals in each half to pull away. Andrew DeGirolamo spearheaded the attack with eight points (two goals and six assists). Will Hogencamp added a hat trick, while Cole Hogencamp (three assists), Thomas Donovan, and Max Tillman each chipped in with a brace. Nico Smith (three assists), Tommy Vallett, and Anthony DiIeso each scored once. Smith also won 10 of the 11 draws that he took. Zane Plante made eight saves and the defensive group of Will Killory, KJ Mahoney, Michael Genovese, Ben Boni, Cole Gibson, and Matt Kelly killed off a pair of penalties and made big plays to stymie the Canton attack.

Milford, 10 @ Bellingham, 9 – Final

Stoughton, 2 @ Foxboro, 3 – Final – Freshman Jacob Dsouza and sophomore Justin Truss did not drop a game at the top two singles spots, and Foxboro added a key win at second doubles to edge Stoughton. Dsouza rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles, while Truss matched it with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at second singles. Sophomore Finn Devine and junior Nikunj Nagpal added a 6-1, 6-2 win at second doubles for the Warriors. Sophomore Tyler Cabrera picked up a 7-5, 7-6 (6) win at third singles for Stoughton, while sophomores Jason Ikonitskiy and Andrew Srey battled back for a 2-6, 6-3, 10-2 victory at first doubles for the Black Knights.
Milford, 0 @ King Philip, 5 – Final – Seniors Luke Bailer, Brent Schneider, and Jaydon Ajoy all won in straight sets as KP took care of business at home against visiting Milford. Bailer earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at first singles, Schneider rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at second singles, and Ajoy added a 6-2, 6-0 win at third singles. The Warriors also got a 6-3, 6-1 win from senior Logan Riley and freshman Zach Bailer at first doubles, while junior Khaldoun Tahan and junior Brendan Lawler completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at second doubles.
North Attleboro, 1 @ Mansfield, 4 – Final – Mansfield defended home court by sweeping both doubles matches in straight sets and adding two more wins in singles to knock off North Attleboro. Sophomore Muhi Karuppusamy battled to a 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 win at first singles, while senior Kingston Carey rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at third singles. The Hornets got a 6-4, 6-4 win from junior Daniel Fleming and sophomore Dorian Michel at first doubles, and senior Roman Spivak and junior Sean Lynch added a 7-6 (2), 6-2 victory at second doubles. Senior Bhavi Mood picked up North Attleboro’s point with a 6-4, 6-2 win at second singles.
Sharon, 5 @ Taunton, 0 – Final – Sharon delivered a dominant sweep to clinch at least a share of the Kelley-Rex division title, setting up a showdown with second-place Attleboro on Monday. Senior Isaac Chen, junior Milan Kulijev, and sophomore Sri Piratla all rolled to 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles play, while juniors Avaneesh Mohan and Owen Snow added a 6-0, 6-0 victory at first doubles. Freshmen Evan Kim and Kingsley Xu completed the Eagles’ sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 win at second doubles.

Foxboro, 3 @ Stoughton, 2 – Final – Foxboro swept doubles and added one more win at third singles to return home from Stoughton with a victory. Senior Veronica Souaiden rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win at third singles, while junior Audrey Magee and sophomore Maddie Feetham battled to a 7-6, 6-0 victory at first doubles. Junior Morgan Brightbill and senior Camilla Burton added a 6-3, 6-0 win at second doubles for the Warriors. Stoughton picked up both singles wins from its seniors, with Jackie Boutros earning a 7-5, 6-2 victory at first singles and Olivia Henderson battling back for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win at second singles.
King Philip, 3 @ Milford, 2 – Final – Junior Rose Loughlin grabbed a key win at second singles and KP swept doubles to notch a road win at Milford. Loughlin earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory, while junior Courtney Lewis and freshman Hiya Valia rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at first doubles. Junior Alexandra Hickey and senior Taylor Gabriella added a 6-1, 6-1 victory at second doubles for the Warriors. Senior Chloe Murdock picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win at first singles for Milford, and junior Catie Delaney battled to a 6-3, 7-6 (2) victory at third singles.
Mansfield, 3 @ North Attleboro, 2 – Final – Sophomore Hamsika Devineni pulled out a key three-set win at second singles and Mansfield swept doubles to edge North Attleboro. Devineni battled to a 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 victory, while seniors Maddie Buckley and Katherine McGlone added a 6-2, 6-4 win at first doubles. Seniors Noelle Cooper and Annalise Bilodeau completed the Hornets’ doubles sweep with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at second doubles. North Attleboro picked up wins from Sai Prav, who battled to a 7-5, 4-6, 10-2 victory at first singles, and junior Naomi Shum, who earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at third singles.
Taunton, 0 @ Sharon, 5 – Final – Freshman Megan Pinnix, sophomore Kat Budovalcev, and senior Lila Hogan swept singles to help Sharon secure another dominant win, this time at home against Taunton. Pinnix and Hogan both rolled to 6-0, 6-0 wins at first and third singles, while Budovalcev added a 6-1, 6-3 victory at second singles. The Eagles also got a 6-0, 6-0 win from senior Sydney Wiener and junior Heather Hou at first doubles, while senior Lillia Precourt and sophomore Hanae Houlihan battled to a 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 victory at second doubles.
Boys Volleyball
King Philip, 3 @ Xaverian, 2 – Final – KP pulled out a thrilling five-set win on the road in Westwood against Xaverian (25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 27-29, 15-11). Jett Tucker powered the Warriors with 22 kills, 23 receptions, 28 digs, and one block, while Hayden Patel dished out 48 assists to go along with 12 digs and one block. Jayson Lussier anchored the defense with 46 digs and 34 receptions, Jesse Poynot added 14 kills, 14 receptions, 11 digs, and one block, Camrin Xavier chipped in with seven kills, five blocks, and two solo blocks, and Grady Soares had 11 receptions and 15 digs.
Milford, 3 vs. Barnstable, 0 – Final
Taunton, 3 vs. Southeastern, 0 – Final – Taunton took care of business at home against Southeastern, earning a 3-0 win (25-10, 25-16, 25-12). A dominant first set set the tone, as the Tigers had just one hitting error on 19 attempts. Denzel Chukwu led the offense with nine kills, while Aiden Andrew added eight kills. Jaidn Penna handed out 17 assists, and Maddox Chaves chipped in with four aces.
