Tuesday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 02/01/22

Boys Basketball
Canton, 40 @ Attleboro, 48 – Final – Canton cut a double-digit halftime deficit down to three in the third quarter but Attleboro finished the quarter strong and pulled away for good with a 10-0 run to start the fourth. Lanse Dorcelus drained a three with three minutes left in the third to make it 28-25 but Attleboro closed with a 7-2 run to take a 35-27 lead into the fourth. Alvin Harrison, who had a career-high 19 points, scored twice down low and then sophomore Neo Franco (eight points) and senior Colin Morais each hit a three as the Bombardiers pushed the lead to 45-27 with five minutes left. Dorcelus scored 12 of his team-high 13 points in the second half, Dillon Nguyen hit a trio of second half trifectas for 12 points, and Matt Chafin had 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Foxboro, 68 @ Taunton, 69 – Final – Taunton’s big three of Trent Santos, Tristan Herry, and Faisal Mass combined for 65 points and the Tigers avoided an upset bid from visiting Foxboro. The Warriors twice rallied from big deficits to make a game of it but came up just short as the buzzer expired. Taunton raced out to a 21-5 lead but Foxboro had a big second quarter to make it a six-point game, 43-37, at halftime. After an even third quarter, Taunton once again stretched its lead to double-digits at 64-51 before the Warriors came charging back in the final minutes. Santos, who dropped a game-high 33 points, sank a pair of free throws with 30 seconds left to put the hosts ahead 69-66. Foxboro finally converted at the rim with under 10 seconds to go but there wasn’t enough time left to force an inbounds and the buzzer sounded for a 69-68 win for Taunton. Santos hit five first-half threes while Faisal Mass also had two in the opening half, finishing with 19 points. Herry added a first half three of his own and finished with 13 points. Dylan Gordon led Foxboro with 22 points, Alex Penders added 15, and Sam Golub chipped in with 13 points with three trifectas for the Warriors, who sank a season-high 11 three-pointers.

Sharon, 57 @ Franklin, 75 – Final – Sharon had a one-point lead after the first quarter, Franklin surged ahead by 10 at the halftime break, the Eagles cut it back to eight going into the fourth, and then the Panthers poured in 24 points in the final frame to run away with the win. Senior Sean Vinson (14 points) sank four three-pointers in the fourth quarter and sophomore Henry Digiorgio (game-high 25 points) had five three-pointers in the second half, two in the fourth, to help Franklin pull away. Sophomore Sean O’Leary scored 12 of his 18 points in the opening half as Franklin staked a 35-25 lead at halftime. Sharon’s Donyae Pierre scored eight of his 13 points in the opening quarter and both Will Hippler (10 points) and Matt Baur (10 points) hit first quarter threes to help the Eagles take a 17-16 edge into the first intermission.

Oliver Ames, 56 @ Mansfield, 69 – Final – Mansfield jumped out to a double-digit lead by the end of the first quarter and kept OA at bay the rest of the way to finish crossover action with a win. Junior Chris Hill (eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks, two steals) tied a career-high with 21 points, including 13 in the first half to help the Hornets seize a 33-20 advantage at halftime. The Tigers held the hosts to 10 points in the third but Mansfield went 9-for-10 from the line in the fourth and put the game away with 26 points. Andrew Slaney (four steals) hit three three-pointers on his way to 15 points while Caden Colby had eight first-half points for Mansfield. CJ Williams and Drew Baxter paced OA with 11 points each while CJ Santos and Zach Tagliamonte chipped in with 10 points apiece.

Stoughton, 57 @ Milford, 54 – Final – Stoughton used a balance attack offensively and survived a last second shot from Milford to record a win on the road. The Black Knights had eight players in the scoring column with senior Cash Mathurin leading the way with 11 points. Stoughton led by four (23-19) after a hot start from both offenses but the Hawks tied it up at 32-all by halftime. Stoughton jumped ahead by the end of the third (45-39). Rayan Sablon had a huge three in the final minutes and finished with a team-high 13 points for Stoughton. Milford had a shot at the go-ahead basket in the final seconds but its bid from the block stayed out. Sophomore Jake Soares led Milford with 13 points.

Girls Basketball

Taunton, 33 @ Foxboro, 60 – Final – Freshman Kailey Sullivan continued her strong rookie campaign with 22 points, as the warriors earned a fourth straight victory. Camryn Collins also reached double figures for Foxboro, finishing with 11.

Franklin, 61 @ Sharon, 27 – Final – Franklin had 10 players get on the score sheet and the Panthers held their fourth straight opponent under 30 points to improve to 10-0 on the season. Sharon was held to just four points in the first quarter and Franklin broke the game open by scoring 20 in the second for a 29-12 halftime lead. An 18-6 third quarter put distance between the teams. Stefany Padula and Olivia Quinn each scored 14 points. Padula scored all of her points in the middle two quarters and buried four threes. Quinn had five of Franklin’s nine points in the first and another six in the second. Katie Peterson added nine points in the win. Jasmine Davis led the Eagles with nine points and Tess Letendre scored eight.

King Philip, 29 @ North Attleboro, 23 – Final – KP was able to pull out a defensive struggle on the road and moved back to .500 on the season. Although North was able to hold KP’s center Emily Sawyer to six points, the Rocketeers struggled to find the range with only four players getting on the score sheet. Summer Doherty led North with nine points and Taylor McMath added seven, while also doing a strong job defensively in the paint and on the glass. Ava McKeon chipped in with five points.

Mansfield, 36 @ Oliver Ames, 60 – Final – Mansfield made a second quarter push to cut the deficit to single digits, but Oliver Ames dominated the second half to get the win. The Tigers limited the visitors to just four free throws in the opening quarter to establish a 20-4 lead through eight minutes. Mansfield made a game of it with a big second, cutting it to 32-23 by halftime. But OA once again locked in defensively, surrendering just three points in the third to run away with the win. Senior Caroline Peper led the way with 15 points and eight assists, sophomore Jasmyn Cooper added 14 points and 11 rebounds, Anna Murphy chipped in with 10 points, and Hailey Bourne set the tone with high energy defensive play. Abby Wager led Mansfield with a team-high 10 points.

Milford, 40 @ Stoughton, 36 – Final – Following a 40-point night against Burncoat on Monday, Maddalena Mannucci Pacini scored 23 against Stoughton to help Milford win for the second time in two days. The Black Knights had a 25-23 lead going into the fourth, but the Hawks scored 17 in the final eight minutes to come from behind and pick up the win. Pacini had 11 points through three quarters and exploded for 12 in the fourth, including 4-of-4 at the line, and Maeve Driscoll added four of her nine points in the final quarter to pull out the win. Jess Maddalena led the Black Knights with nine points. Katrina Varnum nearly had a triple-double in the loss, scoring eight points, blocking seven shots, and grabbing nine rebounds, while Alyssa Edwards had seven points and 10 boards.

Boys Hockey
Oliver Ames, 1 @ Franklin, 8 – Final – Franklin came out hot right from the opening puck drop, scoring five goals in the opening period in a league win over visiting Oliver Ames. Dylan Marchand scored twice while Christian Shabbick, Ben Paterson, and Domenic Lampasona each found the back of the net once as Franklin established a 5-0 lead. Shabbick, Logan Marchand, and Dylan McEvoy tacked on goals in the third period for the Panthers. Ryan Sicchio assisted on half of Franklin’s goals, Paterson added three helpers, and Justin Magazu recorded two assists. Andrew Livingstone (from Jack Corey and Sean Kearns) scored a second period goal for OA. Junior Brandon Burke turned away 27 saves for OA while sophomore Cole Pouliot-Porter had 16 saves in the win for the Panthers.

Boys Swimming
Mansfield, 63 @ Seekonk, 94 – Final – Mansfield closed its dual meet with a loss to Seekonk but put up some impressive performances in the setback. Rico Balanza won both the 100 free and the 100 back, Kevin McCarthy shaved off seven seconds for a new personal best in a first place finish in the 200 free, Xavier Gwynne set a new PR in his win in the 100 fly, and Ryan Morley came in first in the 100 breaststroke with a new PR. Palanza, Morley, McCarthy, and Gwynne teamed up to take first in the 200 free relay as well.

Girls Swimming
Mansfield, 73 @ Seekonk, 97 – Final – Mansfield recorded a handful of season-best times but fell on the road to Seekonk. Sofia Seifert took first in the 100 breaststroke, followed by a second place finish and new PR time from Katherine Elliott. Seifert added a season-best time in the 100 free and took second, Elliott also set a new PR in a second place finish in the 200 IM, and Carla Guirguis set a new personal record in a second place finish in the 100 fly. Separately, over at Wheaton College at the Hockomock League Diving Championships, Mansfield’s Caitlyn Zajac took home the championship with a score of 187.75.

Gymnastics
North Attleboro, 123.15 @ Oliver Ames, 136.3 – Final – Senior Kate McGarry took first place in both the bars and the floor, Abbey DeCouto won the beam, Katie Babinikas grabbed first on the vault, and Oliver Ames finished its final dual meet with a win over North Attleboro. McGarry scored a 9.1 on the bars, and won the floor with a 9.3 while OA captains Peyton Rivers (8.8) and Halley Gramer (8.3) each set new personal bests on the floor. DeCouto and Babanikas each scored 9.0 in their respective wins while Shayla Nagle, Kalli Puskar and Lexi Weintraub all scored key points to help the Tigers.

Girls Basketball
Stoughton, 30 @ Brookline, 62 – Final – Stoughton dropped a contest on the road at Brookline on Monday evening. Evie Lam led the offense for the Black Knights with 11 points while Alyssa Edwards hauled in seven rebounds.

Milford, 71 vs. Burncoat, 59 – Final – Maddalena Mannucci Pacini scored a career-high 40 points, including 24 in the second half, to lead the Hawks to a big non-league win. Pacini buried seven threes, went 11-for-13 from the free throw line, and scored in double digits in three of the four quarters to set a new career mark. Erin Michelson added eight points for the Hawks, all in the first half, and Brooke Ferreira and Jess Douglas chipped in with six points apiece. Milford jumped out to a 23-9 lead after the first quarter and carried that advantage for the rest of the night.

Boys Hockey
Franklin, 6 vs. Weymouth, 1 – Final – Franklin scored twice in the first, once in the second, and three times in the third to win its opening round matchup of the Ed Burns Hockey Classic with Weymouth, avenging its loss to the Wildcats from earlier this season. Ben Jarosz scored a hat trick for the Panthers, scoring once in each period while Logan Marchand, Ben Paterson, and Christian Shabbick each had one goal. Sophomore Cole Pouliot-Porter made 20 saves in the win. Ryan Sicchio, Anthony Lampasona, and Shabbick each had a pair of assists in the win.

Canton, 4 vs. Burlington, 0 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. Eamon Kelly scored twice and Brendan Tourgee had a goal and two assists, as Canton dominated its first round game in the Ed Burns Hockey Classic. Kelly opened the scoring just 28 seconds into the game, as he followed up Tourgee’s initial shot and then lifted the rebound high to the clove side from close range. Six minutes into the second period, Kelly doubled the lead. He took a pass from Tourgee in the right wing circle, dragged it past a stick check and then roofed his shot from a tight angle. Tourgee sealed the win with 6:59 left to play, finding space inside the left wing circle and picking the far corner. Billy Delello tacked on a fourth inside the final minute, as he was in the right place to finish off a chance created by fellow senior Michael Leonetti. Freshman Colin Davis made 12 saves to record the shutout, as Canton outshot Burlington 34-12. The Bulldogs will take on Natick in the next round on Sunday.

Foxboro, 5 vs. Norton, 2 – Final – Foxboro scored four goals between the first two periods and tacked on one more in the third for a win over Norton. Derek Axon scored twice for the Warriors while Steven Bridges, Ben Ricketts, and Tom Marcucella each lit the lamp once in the win. Alex Coviello and Ricketts each recorded a pair of assists and Sullivan Keneally, Henry Diamond, and Bridges each had one helper. Sophomore Trevor Marder earned the win in between the pipes for Foxboro.

Mansfield, 2 @ Bishop Feehan, 8 – Final

North Attleboro, 1 vs. Silver Lake, 4 – Final

Stoughton, 3 @ Southeastern, 1 – Final – Chris Andrade shined between the pipes and Colin Alessi accounted for all three goals to lead the Black Knights to a win over Southeastern. Alessi scored a hat trick while Andrade turned in 25 saves in the win.

Taunton, 3 vs. Apponequet, 2 – Final (OT) – Colton Scheralis scored with five seconds left in overtime to give Taunton its second win over Apponequet in the past week. After skating to a 2-2 tie in regulation, the Tigers looked destined for a tie until Scheralis lit the lamp just before the buzzer to give Taunton the two points. Loran Corcoran and Evan Pereira also scored for Taunton while Conner Goranson, Connor McGrath, and Nathan Fernandes each had an assist. Freshman Cam Tomaszycki recorded 23 saves to get the win in net.

Canton, 40 @ Foxboro, 46 – Final – Foxboro held the visiting Bulldogs to just two points in the third quarter to get back into the game and then had its best offensive quarter of the game, scoring 18 points in the fourth to earn a comeback win over Canton. The Bulldogs built a 16-6 advantage after eight minutes of action and carried a 28-19 lead into the locker room. Foxboro cut it to just two, down 30-28, going into the fourth. Canton kept the lead for the majority of the fourth, getting an early three from Jacob Solomon, and then another triple from Conor Hunter with 2:19 to play to make it 40-37. An offensive rebound from Alex Penders turned into two free throws from Dylan Gordon to make it a one-point game with just under two minutes to go. Ryan LeClair forced a turnover and Gordon sank a corner three with 1:08 to go to put the Warriors ahead for the first time all half, 42-40. LeClair forced another turnover and Penders sank two free throws with 31 seconds to go and the Warriors ended with back-to-back stops. Gordon had 15 of his team-high 20 points in the second half while Penders scored 10 of his 12 points after the break. Lanse Dorcelus had a team-high 12 points while Matt Chafin added nine points.

King Philip, 46 @ Franklin, 69 – Final – After giving up 16 points in the opening quarter, Franklin’s defense limited the visiting Warriors to 11 points or less in each of the next three quarters on its way to a win. Franklin also got off to a good start offensively with 22 points in the opening quarter. The Panthers extended the lead in each of the next three frames, pushing it to seven at halftime (32-25) and a 15-point cushion (51-36) going into the fourth. Sophomore Henry Digiorgio hit a trio of trifectas on his way to a game-high 19 points while Sean O’Leary (11 points) and Sean Vinson (10 points) each hit two three-pointers and finished in double figures. Sophomore Andrew O’Neill scored seven of his eight in the third to help the Panthers pull away. Tommy Martorano led King Philip, scoring all of his team-high 12 points in the first quarter.

Taunton, 83 @ Milford, 41 – Final – Taunton scored 18 or more points in each of the four quarters and had four players in double-figures in its road win over Milford. Sophomore Troy Santos hit a pair of first quarter threes to help the Tigers jump out to a 20-6 lead after a quarter of play and then senior Tristan Herry scored nine of his 15 points in the second as Taunton established a 38-17 lead at halftime. Trent Santos Scored 16 of his game-high 18 points in the second half, Faisal Mass finished with 17 points, and sophomore Cyrus Morrisette finished with a career-high 13 points for the Tigers, who hit 32 shots from the field.

Oliver Ames, 65 @ North Attleboro, 42 – Final – Oliver Ames junior Zach Tagliamonte continued his hot streak on the offensive end, dropping a game-high 28 points to help the Tigers earn a big win on the road over North Attleboro. Tagliamonte his one three in the first and fourth quarters and hit a pair in both the second and third quarters, hitting a total of 11 shots from the floor to pace the Tigers. After OA took a slight lead after the first quarter (14-12), the Tigers erupted for 22 points in the second to take control of the game. Tagliamonte had eight points and freshman Cole Craffey had seven of his 12 points to help OA grab a 36-21 lead at halftime. The Tigers carried the momentum into the second half, scoring 17 points in the third to push the advantage to 53-32 going into the fourth. Brody Rosenberg led North with 10 points while Casey Poirier had nine.

Stoughton, 81 @ Sharon, 52 – Final – Stoughton freshman Matt Greenspoon poured in a career-high 24 points, hitting five three-pointers, and the Black Knights had their best offensive showing of the season in a big win on the road over Sharon. Without leading scorer Connor Andrews due to injury, Greenspoon stepped in and scored 18 of his points after the halftime break to help Stoughton stay ahead from start to finish. Greenspoon hit a pair of threes and Rayan Sablon (20 points), Cash Mathurin, Konrad Rogers, and Jayden Costa Heyward each scored to help Stoughton grab a 22-13 lead after one. Josh Rivera, Sablon, and Costa Heyward each hit threes in the second and then Stoughton hit a trio of threes early in the third quarter, turning a 37-17 halftime lead into a 59-37 lead going into the fourth quarter. Sophomore Nate Katznelson had a team-high 13 points for the Eagles.

Girls Basketball
Attleboro, 54 @ Mansfield, 42 – Final – Meghan Gordon scored 26 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter alone, to power the Bombardiers to an eighth straight win. Attleboro started well, holding the Hornets to just five points in the second and took a 28-15 lead into halftime. Mansfield battled back in the third to cut the lead to seven, but then Gordon caught fire in the fourth and Attleboro outscored the Hornets 17-12 over the final eight minutes to seal the win. Riley Camacho scored 11 for the Bombardiers. Kara Santos was Mansfield’s top scorer with 17 and Abby Wager finished with 15, including 12 in the second half.

Foxboro, 79 @ Canton, 73 – Final (OT) – After Canton came roaring back with a big fourth quarter to force overtime, Foxboro scored 15 points in the OT period to pull out the win. Camryn Collins and Kayleigh Sullivan scored 25 points apiece and combined for all 15 in the extra frame. Collins scored 18 of her 25 in the fourth quarter and OT. The Warriors led by 11 heading into the fourth, but Canton’s offense came alive as the Bulldogs scored 25 points to level the score. Fay Gallery led all scorers with 27 for the Bulldogs, including 10 points in the fourth. Kiara Cerruti scored 19, all in the second half, and is now at 999 career points. Sydney Gallery chipped in with 13, seven of those in the fourth quarter. Hannah Blake scored 13 points and Ava Hill had 10 in the win.

Franklin, 48 @ King Philip, 21 – Final – Franklin was held to its lowest points total of the season, but the Panthers locked down on defense, not allowing KP to score more than nine points in a quarter, to stay unbeaten. The Warriors led 6-3 after the first, but the Panthers held KP to three in the second and went into the locker room leading 15-9. Franklin outscored the Warriors 33-12 in the second half to pull out the win. Katie Peterson led all scorers with 14, including eight in the second quarter. Olivia Quinn scored eight and Stefany Padula had seven for the visitors. KP was led by Liv Lafond’s seven points and Elizabeth Molla had four.

North Attleboro, 32 @ Oliver Ames, 45 – Final – OA continued its win streak with a strong defensive effort, holding North to 20 points through the first three quarters. OA led by two, 12-10, after the first quarter but pushed the lead to 23-15 by halftime and then ran away with the win. Sophomores Jasmyn Cooper (12 rebounds) and Sarah Hilliard each scored 12 points apiece for OA. Ava McKeon was the top scorer for the Rocketeers with 16 points and freshman Maryellen Charette added five.

Sharon, 34 @ Stoughton, 38 – Final – Stoughton held off the Eagles down the stretch to secure its first win of the season. Senior Evie Lam led the charge offensively with a team-high 12 points while sophomore Katrina Varnum sank some clutch free throws down the stretch, finishing with eight points. Alyssa Edwards and Vanessa Phelimond each hauled in seven rebounds for Stoughton. Rachael Hager scored 13 and Jasmine Davis added 12 points for the Eagles.

Boys Hockey
Oliver Ames, 3 @ Attleboro, 1 – Final – Oliver Ames grabbed its second road win in a three-day span, snagging a 3-1 win over the Bombardiers. Freshman Shaun Teehan opened the scoring while sophomore Jack Corey and senior Elliot Cohen each found the back of the net as well. Landon Grothe, Dan Paul, and Corey each had an assist while Brandon Burke made 23 saves for the win.

Taunton, 4 @ Apponequet, 1 – Final – Taunton senior Loran Corcoran scored a hat trick to lead the Tigers to a win on the road over Apponequet in the first of three meetings between the two teams this year. Sophomore Conner Goranson added the other goal while junior Connor McGrath and freshman Jonathan McGrath each had a pair of assists. Freshman Cam Tomaszycki recored 29 saves to get the win in net for Taunton.

Oliver Ames, 6 @ Foxboro, 3 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. – Oliver Ames raced out to a 4-0 lead in the first period and used that strong start to know off Foxboro. The Warriors cut the deficit in half before the first intermission but OA tacked on a fifth goal to make it 5-2 going into the second. After a scoreless second period, Foxboro senior Steve Bridges scored midway through the third to make it a two-goal game but OA junior Sean McCarthy completed his hat trick moments later to restore the three-goal cushion. Sophomore defenseman Sean Kearns added a pair of goals and an assist and senior Elliot Cohen chipped in with a goal and an assist for the Tigers. Jack Corey notched a pair of assists while Matt Lawson, Jack Perron, and Andrew Poulos each had one assist.

Franklin, 13 @ Mansfield, 5 – Final – Justin Magazu scored four goals and had one assist and Dylan Marchand scored one and had five assists, as the Panthers won a shootout against rival Mansfield that moved them closer to a league title. Magazu scored twice in the first period along with goals by Domenic Lampasona and Christian Shabbick, as Franklin led 4-1 after one. Dillon Benoit (two goals and two assists) had the goal for the Hornets. Franklin added nine goals in the third period. Shabbick scored two to complete his hat trick, Magazu added two more, Ben Paterson scored twice, and Lampasona, Marchand, and Thomas Balducci each scored once. Benoit added his second goal for Mansfield. Matt Tourigney got one in the third and Kyle Oakley added two for the Hornets in the third period. Franklin finished with a 42-20 edge in shots. Cole Pouliot-Porter made seven saves and Joe Toracco made eight stops for the Panthers.

Girls Hockey
Canton, 3 @ Mansfield/Oliver Ames, 2 – Final – Allie McCabe had a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs to help them pick up an important league win and sweep the season series with the Warriors.

Franklin, 4 @ King Philip, 6 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. – King Philip’s Morgan Cunningham scored her fourth and fifth goals of the contest in the third period to help the Warriors win, avenging a loss to Franklin from December and splitting the season series between league rivals. Freshman Catie Putt gave KP the lead in the first period but Franklin freshman Julia Flynn scored her first of her four goals just three minutes later on the power play to make it 1-1 after a period of play. Cunningham and Flynn then put on a show, each scoring a second period hat trick as the teams traded goals to make it 4-4 going into the third. Sophomore Kelly Holmes recorded three assists, Sydney O’Shea added a pair while Putt and Jen Daniels each had one. Lindsay Dennett and Haley Wernig each had an assist for the Panthers.

Wrestling
Canton, 6 @ Sharon, 66 – Final – Seniors Adam Landstein, Ben Shocket, Aaron Cashton, Phil Varvak, Conor Grew, and Khashayar Zafar all had pins throughout the match while a pinfall victory from Ben Grabie clinched the win and the Hockomock League Davenport division title for the Eagles.

Franklin, 12 @ Milford, 57 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this meet. – Milford finished with six pins as a team, including pins in the final three matches of the meet, and rolled to a big win that clinched the outright league title for the second straight season. Aidan Baum kicked things off for the hosts at 106 with a pin a minute into the first period. Mike Boulanger scored a 6-0 win at 113 and then Robby Lyons got a major win at 120, winning 18-1 to add five points for the Hawks. Alex Castro’s 8-2 victory at 126 made it 17-0 and then Joey Testa pinned his opponent in the first period at 132. Franklin’s first points came with a quick pin by Timothy O’Leary, who needed :33 to get six points at 138. Luke Donis got the six right back with a disqualification win at 145. Donis was leading 5-2 in the third period when the match ended. Franklin’s Alex Fracassa had a pin in :35 for this 100th career win to make it 29-9, but Danny Alves added four points for Milford with a 20-7 win at 160. Ryan Donovan added a second-period pin at 170 before Ryan Parlon won 5-0 at 182 for Franklin’s final points of the night. Cam Phillips (195), Hampton Kaye-Kuter (220), and Mike Mastroianni (285) added first-period pins to close out the meet for the Hawks.

King Philip, 39 @ Taunton, 40 – Final – Taunton’s Logan Frank recorded a first round pin to secure the Tigers a key six points, clinching a win over visiting King Philip. Mike Leskoski, Ryan Jones, Xavier Sandoval, Christian Balmain, and Elijah Prophete also won by pin for Taunton while Brandon Mendes recorded a victory via major decision.

Mansfield, 56 @ Canton, 41 – Final – Mansfield opened the game with a dominating first quarter and never looked back to get a win on the road at Canton. The Hornets raced out to a 9-2 lead and then scored 10 points over the final three minutes to establish a 19-4 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Junior Chris Hill scored eight of his 11 points in the opening quarter and Mansfield seized a 27-14 lead at halftime. Caden Colby scored nine of his 12 points in the third to help the Hornets pull away in the second half. Senior Matt Hyland also scored 12 points for the Hornets while Canton senior Lanse Dorcelus scored a game-high 17 points.

Milford, 46 @ Foxboro, 61 – Final – A big first quarter helped Foxboro establish a double-digit lead that it never surrendered the rest of the way to take its second win in as many days. Sam Golub hit a pair of threes and scored nine of his 13 point sin the first quarter as the Warriors jumped out to a 20-3 lead after eight minutes of play. From there, it was an even game with Dylan Gordon scoring eight points in the second and seven more in the fourth, finishing with a game-high 22 points. Junior Alex Penders chipped in with 15 points for the Warriors. Sophomore Jake Soares led the Scarlet Hawks with 13 points while freshman Luca Testa added 10 points.

King Philip, 54 @ Oliver Ames, 65 – Final – After a close first quarter, Oliver Ames nearly doubled up on King Philip between the second and third quarters to grab a key crossover win at home. The Tigers took a 20-17 lead after one quarter but held the visiting Warriors to eight points in the second, grabbing a 37-25 halftime lead, and then limited KP to nine points in the third to push the advantage to 50-34 going into the fourth quarter. Junior Zach Tagliamonte got the hosts off to a strong start, scoring 15 of the team’s 20 first quarter points. Tagliamonte finished with a game-high 30 points while Drew Baxter added 13 points for OA, who hit 27 shots from the floor. King Philip had six players connect from downtown for a total of 10 three-pointers. Senior Braeden Sottile hit two of them and finished with a team-high 12 points while senior Charlie Grant also knocked down a pair for 10 points.

Franklin, 71 @ Stoughton, 43 – Final – Franklin had four players score in double figures and used a big third quarter to run away with a win on the road at Stoughton. Senior Sean Vinson (19 points), sophomore Henry Digiorgio (15 points), sophomore Andrew O’Neill (13 points), and sophomore Sean O’Leary (10 points) accounted for 11 of Franklin’s 13 made three-pointers on the night. Digiorgio and O’Leary each hit one in the third and O’Neill knocked down a pair and had a total of 10 points in the third as the Panthers turned a 10-point halftime lead (30-20) into a comfortable 57-37 advantage going into the fourth quarter. Junior Rayan Sablon led the way for the Black Knights with 15 points.

Taunton, 60 @ North Attleboro, 33 – Final – Trent Santos and Troy Santo each knocked down a pair of first quarter three-pointers as the Tigers grabbed an early lead but Taunton needed a big second half to pull away from a pesky North Attleboro side. Taunton led 22-13 after a quarter but a prepared and pesky North defense limited the Tigers to just five points (all from Tristan Herry) in the second quarter as the Rocketeers closed the gap to five, 27-22, at halftime. Taunton responded by limited the hosts to just four points in the third as Trent Santos (17 points), Herry (15 points), and Faisal Mass (14 points) each had a pair of baskets to push the lead back to double-digits, 39-26, going into the fourth. Taunton’s strong defense continued, holding North to seven in the final frame while the offense came back alive for 21 points. Casey Poirier led North Attleboro with 10 points.

Girls Basketball
Sharon, 32 @ Attleboro, 61 – Final – Meghan Gordon scored a game-high 31 points to power Attleboro to a big win. The Bombardiers jumped out to a 21-9 lead after the first, extended the lead in the middle quarters, and then closed with a 15-4 fourth quarter to break the game wide open. Gordon scored 10 of Attleboro’s 12 points in the second and nine of Attleboro’s 15 in the fourth. Kayla Goldrick added nine points and Lindsey Perry and Riley Camacho each had seven for the Bombardiers. Jasmine Davis was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 13 points, while Trinity Payne had six and Rachael Hager had five in the loss.

Foxboro, 69 @ Milford, 30 – Final – Freshman Kailey Sullivan recorded a career-high 23 points to lead the Warriors to a second win in as many nights. For the second straight game, Foxboro had three players reach double figures. Erin Foley added 13 and Camryn Collin scored a dozen points in the win. Brooke Ferreira was Milford’s leading scorer, finishing with 17.

Stoughton, 27 @ Franklin, 61 – Final – Franklin led 18-3 after one quarter and never allowed Stoughton to get back into the game from there, extending its long win streak and staying unbeaten in league play. Stefany Padula buried a handful of threes on her way to a game-high 17. Katie Peterson had 11 points and Emma Sousa finished with eight. The trio combined for all 17 of Franklin’s points in the third quarter. Sophomore Maiya Merritt had 11 points while Alyssa Edwards chipped in with 8 points for Stoughton.

Oliver Ames, 57 @ King Philip, 32 – Final – OA went on a run at the end of the half to take the lead for good and then locked down defensively in the second half to earn the road win. The Warriors led 11-10 after one but a run near the end of the second quarter gave the Tigers a 26-19 lead heading to the locker room. OA took control with a 16-8 third quarter and then held KP to just five points in the fourth to pull away. Anna Murphy anchored a strong defensive effort from OA and added 13 points offensively. Sophomores Jasmyn Cooper (eight rebounds) and Sarah Hilliard (seven rebounds) tied for the team-high with 14 points apiece while classmate Kaydance Derba added 10 points and eight boards. Emily Sawyer finished with nine points, seven in the first half, to lead the Warriors, which also got eight points from Julia Marsden.

North Attleboro, 30 @ Taunton, 53 – Final – Kameron St. Pierre scored 14 points in each half, knocked down four three-pointers, and finished with a game-high 28 to lead the Tigers to a big home win. Summer Doherty was North’s top scorer with 13 (10 in the first half) and no other Rocketeer finished with more than three points. Taunton jumped out to a 19-6 lead in the first and never looked back, leading by 11 at the half and holding North to just two made field goals after the break. Abby Souza added six points, all in the first half, for the Tigers and three other players finished with five.

Canton, 59 vs. Southeastern, 46 – Final – Canton had its double-digit halftime lead shrink to seven going into the final quarter, but the Bulldogs held Southeastern to nine points in the final quarter to pull away for the win. Senior Lanse Dorcelus matched a career-high with 27 points, helping Canton establish a 36-23 lead at halftime by scoring 17 points in the first half. Dillon Nguyen (nine points) and Nate Mei (seven points) hit three-pointers in the fourth to keep Canton ahead.

Franklin, 86 vs. New Bedford, 60 – Final – Franklin poured in 22 points in the second quarter and then 28 more in the third to score a blowout win over visiting New Bedford. Justin Allen (nine points), Will Tracey, and Sean Vinson (12 points) all hit threes in the second quarter to help turn Franklin’s lead after one quarter (18-10) into a 40-28 advantage going into halftime. Sophomore Henry Digiorgio scored 10 of his team-high 15 points in the third while sophomores Bradley Herndon and Sean O’Leary (13 points) each hit threes to extend the Panthers’ edge to 68-50 going into the final quarter. Evan DaSilva hit a pair of threes in the fourth and finished with 11 points to help the hosts pull away.

Mansfield, 65 @ King Philip, 35 – Final – Mansfield opened the game with a big run and never let its foot off the gas pedal on its way to a comfortable win on the road at King Philip. The Hornets turned their 16-7 lead at the end of the first into a 39-14 advantage going into halftime. Senior Matt Hyland scored 16 points and hauled in 20 rebounds while junior Chris Hill also recorded 16 points.

Mark Ayvazyan scored a pair of goals and Kyle Gruber earned the shutout, as North picked up its fourth win of the week and second in as many days. Ayvazyan opened the scoring on a quick break out down the right wing three minutes into the game. North doubled its lead just 37 seconds later when Brady Sarro was on hand to knock in a rebound. Four minutes into the second, Nick Longa made it three, getting space in the right wing circle before firing in a power play goal. With 90 seconds left in the period, Brody Gaulin got a piece of Anthony Westcott’s shot from the point to make it 4-0 and then Ayvazyan netted his second of the day on a rebound with only 18.7 to go in the period. Freshman goalie Cam Tomaszycki had a strong game for the Tigers in the loss.

Stoughton, 2 @ Oliver Ames, 5 – Final – Oliver Ames scored three unanswered goals over the final two periods to earn the win, sweeping the season series against rink mate Stoughton. Elliott Cohen scored both first period goals for the Tigers while Joe McNulty and Ryan Summers scored for the Black Knights. Sophomores Jack Corey and Matt Lawson each scored and senior Dan Paul netted his first career goal to help the Tigers pull away for the win. Jack Corey, Sean McCarthy, Andrew Poulos, and Ryan Parks all had an assist for OA while Brandon Burke made 17 saves for the win in net.

Girls Hockey
Canton, 0 vs. Medfield, 1 – Final (OT)

Franklin, 1 vs. Norwood, 4 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. Norwood scored three unanswered goals to earn the non-league win over Franklin. The Mustangs took the lead late in the first period, but Julia Flynn tied the game with 3:49 left in the second. She stole the puck at the blue line, deked the goalie to open space on the forehand, and stuffed her shot into the bottom corner to make it 1-1. Norwood answered back inside the final minute of the period. Freshman goalie Izzy Brown stopped a breakaway and made another great save to keep the Mustangs out, but the rebound couldn’t be cleared and Norwood tapped it in to go back in front. Norwood added a third three minutes into the third and sealed the win with an empty net goal. Brown finished with 29 saves in the loss.

The Eagles landed wins over B-R (42-36), Whitman-Hanson (36-34), and King Philip (49-19). Adam Landstein (120) and Cormac Horlbogen (182) both went undefeated for Sharon.

Cape Cod Invitational (Taunton) – Taunton sent 10 grapplers to the finals on its way to a first place finish at the Cape Cod Invitational at Sandwich High School. Brandon Mendes won his first two matches by pinfall and then earned a 13-2 major decision in the final to take the title at 120, while Ben Mandeville sandwiched a pair of pins around an 8-6 decision in the semis to secure the title at 145. Michael Leskoski (106), Ryan Jones (113), Anthony Vieira (126), Xavier Sandoval (132), Christian Balmain (152), Ethan Harris (182), Peter Ye (195), and Logan Frank (220) all finished second.

King Philip, 41 @ Attleboro, 76 – Final – Attleboro got off to a blistering start with 27 points in the opening quarter, and kept its foot on the pedal with 20 more points in the second on its way to a big win over King Philip. Alvin Harrison scored all nine of his points in the opening quarter, one of six Bombarders to hit a shot from the field as the hosts established a 27-11 lead after just eight minutes. Junior Trevor White accounted for four of Attleboro’s nine made three-pointers, including three in the opening half that led to a 47-23 halftime lead. White finished with a game-high 20 points, Evan Houle added 13 points, including a trio of trifectas, and sophomore Neo Franco chipped in with nine points. Will Laplante led King Philip with 11 points.

Sharon, 51 @ Canton, 59 – Final – Canton exploded for 21 points in the third quarter to surge ahead of Sharon and held on to land an upset win over the visiting Eagles. Trailing 27-25 at halftime, five different Bulldogs hit field goals, including a pair of threes from Jacob Solomon, to help the hosts stake a 46-38 lead going into the fourth. Canton was held to just one field goal in the fourth but went 10-for-12 from the free throw line to stay ahead. Senior Lanse Dorcelus score a game-high 17 points, going 9-for-10 from the free throw line to lead the charge offensively while Solomon finished with nine points. Junior Jack Bates scored a team-high 11 points for the Eagles while classmate Matt Baur added 10 points.

Foxboro, 56 @ Oliver Ames, 65 – Final – Oliver Ames built a lead in the first quarter and added enough cushion in the second quarter to keep Foxboro at bay throughout the remainder of the game to get back into the win column, snapping a three-game skid. The Tigers got a balanced scoring attack with nine players registering points, and OA found success attacking the basket with 22 two-point field goals compared to just a pair of three-pointers. After just two points in the first half, junior Zach Tagliamonte got it going in the second to finish with a game-high 18 points. MJ Jean-Baptiste added 12 points and Drew Baxter had 10 for OA, which led 15-10 after one quarter, 30-18 at halftime, and 44-35 going into the final frame. Foxboro’s offense came alive in the second half, hitting on all eight of its three-pointers but couldn’t close the gap. Senior Dylan Gordon and juniors Sam Golub and Alex Penders all finished with 13 points apiece.

Milford, 34 @ Franklin, 77 – Final – Franklin poured in 21 points in the first quarter and never looked back in a big win over visiting Milford. Junior Justin Allen hit half of his four three-pointers in the first quarter, sophomore Henry Digiorgio hit had one of his game-high five three-pointers in the opening quarter, and senior Sean Vinson also hit from deep as the Panthers established a 21-9 lead after one, and pushed the lead to 40-17 at half after hitting five more threes in the second, including one from freshman Caden Sullivan. Digiorgio finished with a game-high 21 points, Allen had 16 points, Vinson finished at 10 points, and junior Geino Scaringello chipped in with 10 second half points.

North Attleboro, 48 @ Stoughton, 46 – Final – Junior Jack Munley had a big block late and North Attleboro hit just enough free throws down the stretch to score an upset on the road at Stoughton. Stoughton led by one possession at halftime (23-20) and at the end of the third quarter (34-32) but the Rocketeers pulled even late and went ahead on free throws in the final minute. Freshman Ryan Bannon tied the game with a free throw before Stoughton went back ahead with one of their own. Senior Brody Rosenberg (game-high 16 points) went 2-for-2 at the line to put North ahead, 47-46, with 13 seconds to go and Munley came up with a big block on the other end to get the ball back. Junior Givany Carney (11 points) gave North a two-point lead with a free throw with five seconds to go, and Stoughton’s last-second three was off the mark. Senior Connor Andrews had a team-high 13 points while sophomore Liam Pearl added 11 points for the Black Knights.

Attleboro, 49 @ King Philip, 45 – Final – Meghan Gordon scored eight of her game-high 17 points in the fourth quarter, as Attleboro rallied to pick up a road win and extend its streak to six straight victories. Attleboro led 28-18 at halftime, but the Warriors stormed out of the break, holding the Bombardiers to just four points in the third to take the lead. The visitors took the fourth quarter 17-11 to pull it out despite only making five field goals in the second half. Lindsey Perry added 11 points, including seven in the first, and Kayla Goldrick scored eight in the win. Emily Sawyer paced KP with 16 points, scoring six in each of the second and third quarters. Julia Marsden scored 10 and Liv Lafond finished with seven for the Warriors.

Canton, 66 @ Sharon, 33 – Final – Kiara Cerruti and Sydney Gallery each scored 20 points to lead the Bulldogs to a sixth straight win. Cerruti added five rebounds and two assists and Gallery had six boards. Fay Gallery scored nine points and had five steals, while Emily McCabe chipped in with nine rebounds, five assists, and five steals and Marissa Staffiere had four assists. Samya DaSilva had four points and five rebounds and also played lockdown defense on Sharon star sophomore Jasmine Davis, holding her to four points and without a made basket.

Oliver Ames, 65 @ Foxboro, 30 – Final – Oliver Ames raced out to a 35-9 lead by halftime and controlled the game from start to finish to secure a key division win over Foxboro. “We played great defense, and controlled the glass at both ends and got great finishes…it was a total team effort,” said OA head coach Laney Holbrook. Senior Caroline Peper led the offense with 18 points while Hailey Bourne provided a big spark with a season-high 12 points. Sophomore Jasmyn Cooper added 12 points, 11 rebounds, and seven steals while classmate Kaydance Derba added nine points.

Franklin, 62 @ Milford, 19 – Final – Franklin held Milford to six or fewer points in each quarter to continue its win streak. The Panthers jumped out to a 23-4 lead after the first and then extended the lead to 41-9 by halftime. Katie Peterson and Olivia Quinn each scored 11 to lead the Panthers and Stefany Padula added 10, as a dozen Franklin players got on the board. Maeve Driscoll led Milford with six, all in the fourth quarter on a pair of threes. Maddalena Mannucci Pacini and Brooke Ferreira each scored four.

Mansfield, 72 @ Taunton, 62 – Final – Mansfield survived a Taunton fourth quarter comeback and won a shootout at the Raboiun Field House to make it three straight victories. Bridget Hanley led the way for the Hornets with a career-high 27 points, knocking down six of Mansfield’s 13 threes. Kameron St. Pierre was Taunton’s top scorer, finishing with a game-high 35 and making six threes of her own. The Hornets jumped out to a 42-128 lead by halftime and added three more to the lead after the third quarter, but Taunton responded with 25 points in the fourth to cut the lead back to 10. Abby Wager added 16 points for the Hornets, all but one coming in the first half, and Natalya Gill scored 11. Kara Santos chipped in with nine, including six in the fourth. Jillian Doherty scored eight and Abby Souza had seven in the loss.
