Attleboro, 5 @ Oliver Ames, 1 – Final (8 inn.) – Attleboro’s offense exploded for four runs in the top of the eighth to earn a win on the road at Frothingham Park. Dylan Maskell knocked in two runs, including the game-winner, to put Attleboro ahead. Sophomore Mason Houle followed that up with an RBI single and Sam Larkin brought home the fifth run with a squeeze bunt. Drew Pagano allowed just one run on four hits in six innings of work in his first ever varsity start. Eoin Kelleher pitched two scoreless innings in relief to earn the win. Oliver Ames’ Cam Johnson reached base three times, with one hit and two walks, and also stole a base.

Canton, 7 @ Sharon, 1 – Final – Canton’s Robbie Wilkinson went 6.1 innings for the Bulldogs to earn the win.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Stoughton, 2 – Final (10 inn.)

King Philip @ Taunton – Postponed to Thursday, 5/18 at 3:45.

Softball
Oliver Ames, 3 @ Attleboro, 4 – Final

Foxboro, 1 @ North Attleboro, 14 – Final (5 inn.) – With the game tied at 1-1 through three innings, North Attleboro exploded for 13 runs in the bottom of the fourth. Olivia Capobianco reached four times (three hits) and scored two runs, Andrea Miceli was 3-for-3 with a pair of runs and Abby Gallagher recorded a hit, walked, two RBI and scored two runs. Sam Courtemanche, Kristina Murphy, Liz Morehouse and Meg Barlow all finished with two hits apiece for Big Red. Bella Erti struck out six in four innings of work while Olivia DesRoches pitched a scoreless fifth inning.

Franklin, 3 @ Mansfield, 4 – Final – Mansfield scored two runs in the third, added two more in the fourth and never trailed in a close win over Franklin. Marissa Staffier knocked in a pair of runs in the third, bringing home Megan Letendre (double) and Mady Bendanillo (single). In the fourth, Letendre and Bendanillo – who both had two hits on the day – had RBI singles to cap the Hornets’ scoring. Sarah Cahill struck out three while allowing 10 hits in the win. Franklin freshman Anna Balkus went 3-for-3 while Alyssa DaSilva and Alexx Niss (two-run triple)
each had two hits for the Panthers.

Sharon, 8 vs. Ursuline, 3 – Final – Sharon had its best offensive game of the season in a win over Ursuline, sweeping the season series. Alli Small (2-for-4), Sam Marglous (3-for-3) and Clara Cook (2-for-4) each had extra base hits, an RBI and a run scored for the Eagles. Rebecca Clayman, Shoshana Lowe and Courtney Sollis all contributed with a triple each. Cook notched 10 strikeouts and scattered five hits in a complete game effort.

Boys Tennis
Oliver Ames, 2 @ Attleboro, 3 – Final – Attleboro won a pair of singles matches and prevailed with the win over Oliver Ames with a three-set win at first doubles. Shawn Gordon won 6-3, 6-4 at first singles and Abdul Khatib won 6-2, 6-0 at second singles for the Bombardiers. The team of Eli Araujo and Ryan Gordon won 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 at first doubles to clinch the win. Oliver Ames senior Danny Hanley won 4-6, 7-5, 10-4 at third singles and Jack Simone and Alex Barnett teamed up for a 6-4, 6-2 win at second doubles.

Foxboro, 5 @ Milford, 0 – Final

Franklin, 2 @ Mansfield, 3 – Final – Franklin won both doubles matches but Mansfield swept singles play to earn the win. For Franklin, James Johnston and Derek Wu won 6-2, 6-3 at first doubles and Tyler DiPalma and Rahul Hosdurg prevailed with a 6-4, 6-2 win at second doubles.

Stoughton, 0 @ North Attleboro, 5 – Final – North Attleboro defended home court with a sweep, winning all five matches in straight sets. Zac Pfeffer won 6-0, 6-2 at first singles, Daniel Zhang won 6-4, 7-5 at second singles and Alex Rinaldi prevailed 6-2, 6-2 at third singles. The team of Andrew Harris and Vikram Senthilakumaran won 6-2, 6-1 at first doubles and Mayank Wadekar and Alex Pfeffer won 6-0, 6-1 at second doubles.

Taunton, 3 vs. Durfee, 2 – Final – Taunton edged out non-league rival Durfee with two wins at singles and one more at doubles. Sophomore Brett Beaulieu won 6-3, 6-2 at first singles, senior Eric Gwozdz notched a 6-1, 6-4 win at third singles and the team of sophomores Dylan Kullas and Charlie Fiske prevailed with a 6-1, 7-5 win at first doubles.

Girls Tennis
Attleboro @ Oliver Ames – Postponed to Thursday, 5/18 at 3:45.

Foxboro, 1 vs. Martha’s Vineyard, 4 – Final – Foxboro’s Lexi Nelson captured the Warriors lone match, winning 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (8-6) at second singles.

Mansfield, 3 @ Franklin, 2 – Final – Mansfield earned two wins in singles play and one more in doubles to defeat Franklin on the road. Junior Sarah Doyle won 6-1, 6-1 at second singles and sophomore Elizabeth Elsner took a 6-2, 6-2 decision at third singles. Mansfield’s first doubles team of Chloe Peters and Tessa Garufi won 6-0, 6-0. Franklin’s Hannah Sweeney won 6-2, 6-2 at first singles and the team of Jillian McLaughlin and Alexa Katsaros won 6-4, 2-6, 10-4 at second doubles.

Sharon, 4 @ Bishop Feehan, 1 – Final

North Attleboro, 5 @ Stoughton, 0 – Final – North Attleboro dropped just one game in singles play and prevailed with wins in both doubles matches at Stoughton. Emily Chiasson won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, Jordan Willis won 6-0, 6-0 at second singles and Azka Siddiq notched a 6-0, 6-1 at third singles. The pairing of Gabby Duva and Katie Demontigny won 6-3, 6-1 at first doubles and Hana Hershey and Leah Marceau teamed up for a 6-1, 6-3 win at second doubles.

Taunton, 5 @ Durfee, 0 – Final – The Tigers won all five matches in straight sets, losing a total of eight games to leave Fall River with a win over the Hilltoppers. Olivia Sweeney won 6-2, 6-1 at first singles, Jordan Pagliuca notched a 6-1, 6-0 win at second singles and Jillian Pagliuca recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles. Ashleigh Eason and Emily Moor teamed up for a 6-2, 6-2 win at first doubles while Caroline Hebert and Jordan Martin didn’t lose a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at second doubles.

Boys Track
Attleboro, 87 @ Taunton, 49 – Final

Canton, 61 @ Stoughton, 75 – Final – Canton’s John Guenthner and Jack Healey were both double winners; Guenthner clocking in at a personal best 15.9 in the 100M hurdles and also winning the 400M hurdles in 60 while Healey won the 1 Mile (5:00) and the 2 Mile (11:12). Other first place finishes for Canton included Steven Brady (triple jump, 39’1″), Riley McDonnell (200M, 23.8), Marquise Montes (long jump, 18’11.25″) and the 4×100 of Montes, Cordell Smith, Dan Pierre and Dan Alice.

Foxboro, 23 @ North Attleboro, 113 – Final

Franklin, 71.33 @ King Philip, 64.67 – Final

Oliver Ames, 23.5 @ Mansfield, 113.5 – Final

Canton, 50 @ Stoughton, 86 – Final – Canton’s Sarah Collins concluded the dual meet schedule with another two wins, taking first in the 400M hurdles (68.3) and the 800M (2:33). Other first place finishes for the Bulldogs include Nicole Brown (100M, 12.9 – a personal best), Jimisha Williams (200M, 27.1 – a personal best), Bronwyn Mahoney (shot put) and Erika Lum (high jump, 4’10”). Canton’s 4×100 of Lum, Williams, Brown and Claire Belisle) also came in first with a state qualifying time of 51.5.

Foxboro, 42 @ North Attleboro, 94 – Final

Franklin, 71 @ King Philip, 65 – Final

Oliver Ames, 68 @ Mansfield, 68 – Final – The Tigers and Hornets finished level in the final dual meet of the season. For Mansfield, Angela Corkery won the javelin with a 20-foot PR, finished second in the triple jump and was a member of the 4×100 relay (with Jordan Brill-Cass, Julia Harrison and Amanda Mangano) that finished first. Madison Haughey won both the high jump and the long jump and finished second in the 100M hurdles.

Boys Lacrosse
North Attleboro, 11 @ Attleboro, 1 – Final – North Attleboro outscored Attleboro 7-0 in the second half to pick up a non-league win. Tommy Lindstrom orchestrated the offensive attack, registering five assists while Zach McGowan scored twice and added two helpers. Paul Yeomans (two goals, one assist) finish with three points while Jason McNeany (goal, assist), Colin Young (two goals) and Jack Dakin (two goals) each had two points. Owen Costello and Zac Doucette each scored once and Brett Labonte and Hunter Sarro each had an assist.

Canton, 5 vs. Braintree, 3 – Final – Canton outscored the visitors 4-1 in the second half to pick up a win on senior night and keep its postseason hopes alive. Senior Dan Dillon led the charge, notching three assists and scoring the game-winning goal with just over three minutes left to play. Senior Ryan Lodge and sophomore Mike Shaw each netted a pair of goals to round up Canton’s attack. Freshman Jack Connolly made 11 saves in net while CHS coach Bill Bendell praised the work of junior Charlie O’Connor at the face off X and the defensive work of senior Michael Pigeon.

Foxboro, 8 vs. Westwood, 9 – Final (OT)

Franklin, 11 @ St. John’s Shrewsbury, 12 – Final (2OT) – St. John’s rattled off a 5-0 run in the second half to create an 11-7 cushion but the Panthers answered, scoring four straight goals over the final 5:45, capped with a goal from freshman Jake Davis with just seven seconds left to send the game into overtime. The Panthers won the face off at the beginning of each overtime period but couldn’t covert and the Pioneers netted the winner with 1:02 to go in the second overtime. Eric Civetti led Franklin’s offense with seven goals and one assist, Packie Watson scored twice and had one helper and Nitin Chaudhury scored once. Sam Arsenault, Jack Platner and Kyle McEniry had had one assist while Jacob Alexander won 19 face offs.

Milford, 8 @ AMSA, 4 – Final

Oliver Ames, 9 @ Pembroke, 8 – Final – Oliver Ames freshman Shane Kikelly and junior Owen Gallagher each recorded a hat trick to pace the Tigers’ offense. Senior Liam Brown, junior Eric LeBlanc and freshman Sam Stevens rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.

Taunton, 2 @ Norton, 14 – Final

Girls Lacrosse
North Attleboro, 17 @ Attleboro, 3 – Final – Erin Holley paced the Rocketeers, who had 11 different goal scorers in the win, with four goals and a pair of assists. North also got five assists from Katie Lindstrom, a goal and three draw controls from Julia Noreck and two goals and two assists from Camille Pizarro.

Franklin, 8 vs. Westwood, 7 – Final – Franklin freshman goalie Gianna Cameron made 15 saves and FHS head coach Kristin Igoe Guarino had high praise for her defensive unit, anchored by Dana Lewandowski and Grace McDermott. The win marked the Panthers’ first ever win over Westwood, the defending D1 state champions. Caroline Lounsbury led the offense with three goals, Erin Walsh netted two goals and Annie Walsh recorded a goal and an assist. Jordan Jette had two helpers and Kendall Reardon and Kelsey MacCallum both found the back of the net once.

King Philip, 11 @ Walpole, 19 – Final

Oliver Ames, 10 vs. Pembroke, 15 – Final

Taunton, 14 @ Norton, 6 – Final – Taunton eighth grader Alana Tavares scored a team-high eight goals and assisted on three others to pace the Tigers to a win on the road. Kayla Phillips netted a hat trick, Abbey Kingman scored twice and Annie Tate (two assists) found the back of the net once. Lorni Li turned away 12 shots in goal for the Tigers.

Boys Tennis
Sharon, 5 @ Canton, 0 – Final – Sharon won all five matches in straight sets, losing a total of just seven games on the road. Griffin Fein won 6-1, 6-1 at first singles, Fred Bondar notched a 6-0, 6-1 win at second singles and Andre Olivei recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles. The team of Alex Romantz and Alberto Olivei won 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles and Sammy Kirshenbaum and Max Brody prevailed 6-0, 6-2 at second doubles.

Mansfield, 3 vs. Holliston, 0 – Final – Sarah Cahill scattered five hits and struck out seven in a complete game shutout. Mansfield opened the scoring in the first on a two-run homer by Mady Bendanillo, plating her sister Kara. In the sixth, Mansfield added another run when pinch hitter Hayley McGowan drove in Marissa Staffier with a sac fly. Head coach Lori Letendre said that Mady Bendanillo also made a “fantastic” catch in center.

Boys Lacrosse
King Philip, 3 vs. Walpole, 13 – Final

Sharon, 7 @ Shrewsbury, 16 – Final

Girls Lacrosse
Franklin, 7 vs. Natick, 4 – Final – Franklin freshman goalie Gianna Cameron turned aside seven shots in net and Dana Lewandowski caused five turnovers and played well on defense.

Friday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 05/12/17

Canton, 4 vs. Cohasset, 3 – Final – After falling behind early, Canton rallied to tie the game in the fifth inning. In the sixth inning, senior Danny Hartnett doubled and senior Jackson Maffeo knocked in the go-ahead run with a single. Sophomore Paul Sullivan pitched three scoreless innings in relief to earn the win.

Foxboro, 0 vs. Dedham, 3 – Final

King Philip, 0 @ Franklin, 6 – Final – Franklin’s offense got off to a strong start, plating five runs in the first inning and tacking on one more in the second to beat King Philip and qualify for the state tournament. Junior Bryan Woelfel tossed a complete game shutout with just three hits allowed, one walk and a pair of strikeouts. The Panthers loaded the bases with Jake Lyons (double), Ryan Hodgkins (hit by pitch) and Jason Ulrickson (bunt single) reaching base. Josh Macchi followed with an RBI single, Tyler Gomes knocked in a run with a sac fly and sophomore Alex Haba drove in two with a double. James Leofanti doubled to move Haba to third and Jake Macchi’s sacrifice fly brought Haba home. In the second inning, Ulrickson doubled to score Lyons. King Philip’s Dan Antunes tossed 4.2 scoreless innings of relief for the Warriors.

Milford, 12 vs. Hopedale, 3 – Final

Softball
Foxboro, 2 @ Dedham, 3 – Final

Franklin, 8 @ Bridgewater-Raynham, 2 – Final – Franklin’s offense exploded for 14 hits as a team to complete a season sweep of the Trojans. Ally Shea had a three hits to lead the way while Tara Hartnett (RBI), Olivia DiGiacomo (two RBI, two runs), Anna Balkus (run) and Clara DeCarvalho (RBI double) each had a pair of hits. Alexx Niss also had a hit and brought in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Milford, 5 @ St. Peter Marian, 2 – Final – Ali Atherton scattered six hits in a complete game effort, striking out four in the win. Offensively, Maggie Farrell stroked three hits, including two doubles, while also scoring a run. Jess Tomaso added two hits (double), knocked in two runs and scored once, Emily Piergustavo knocked in a run, scored a run and had one hit and Emily Hartman notched an RBI double.

Sharon, 5 @ Ursuline, 4 – Final – Sharon’s Clara Cook struck out a season-high 15 batters to help the Eagles edge Ursuline on the road. Cook tossed a complete game to earn the win. Offensively, Sam Marglous went 2-for-4 with a pair of base hits and scored a run, and Alli Small, Rebecca Clayman, Shoshana Lowe and Sarah Levitt each had a single for Sharon.

Boys Lacrosse
Canton, 3 @ Cohasset, 14 – Final

Foxboro, 7 @ Wayland, 8 – Final (OT)

Franklin, 14 vs. Algonquin, 6 – Final – Franklin goalie Connor O’Rourke made eight saves the FHS head coach Lou Verrochi praised the defensive effort of his team’s defense as the Panthers picked up a key non-league win. Based on North Attleboro’s win over King Philip, the Panthers clinched at least a share of the Kelley-Rex division title. Eric Civetti had his way on the offensive end, netting eight goals with one assist and Sam Arsenault and Nitin Chaudhury each scored once and had two assists. Packie Watson found the back of the net twice and Kyle McEniry had two helpers; Johnny O’Glishen and Pat Morrison each tallied a goal as well.

King Philip, 5 @ Wellesley, 4 – Final

Mansfield, 5 vs. Bishop Feehan, 2 – Final – Junior Kevin Dow allowed just two runs in five innings of work, striking out five to lead the Hornets to their sixth straight win. Senior Matt Farragher (3-for-4, run) delivered the biggest hit of the game, knocking in three runs with a bases clearing double in the third inning.

Taunton, 3 vs. New Bedford, 2 – Final (9 inn.) – Taunton sophomore Jack Moynihan drove in the game-winning to hand the Tigers a walk-off win over New Bedford. Moynihan launched a double to bring in senior Matt Machado for the game-winning run. Machado and Tyler Medeiros each knocked in a run in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead before New Bedford tied the game with two runs in the sixth. Danny Keogh earned the win, tossing three scoreless innings in relief with just one hit allowed, no walks and two strikeouts. Owen O’Gara went six innings, striking out five with two earned runs allowed on one hit.

Softball
Stoughton, 10 @ Brockton, 0 – Final – Alessandra Loffredo was a single shy of the cycle for the Black Knights who totaled 11 hits on the day. Gina Carafa tossed a three-hit shutout, striking out five to get the win. Megan Eosco drove in the winning run with a first inning double and Jordan Lyons and Bri Ferrandiz each had a pair of hits for Stoughton.

Boys Lacrosse
Mansfield, 6 vs. Barnstable, 11 – Final – Mansfield trailed by just two at halftime, down 5-3 to the Red Raiders but couldn’t rally. Cullen Murphy led the Hornets’ offense with five points, scoring twice with three assists. Sam O’Connell, Joe Cox and Brad Grant each scored once and had an assist and Danny DeGirolamo scored once. Tommy Donnelly had a strong defensive performance in front of goalie Sean Powers (19 saves).

Girls Lacrosse
Milford, 11 @ Attleboro, 10 – Final

North Attleboro vs. Notre Dame Academy, 4:00

Oliver Ames, 13 vs. Norton, 3 – Final – Eight different players found the back of the net as Oliver Ames cruised to a non-league win at home over Norton. Olivia Piazza led the charge with four goals while Sarah Stevens and Sofia Masciarelli each netted a pair of goals.

Oliver Ames, 5 @ Brockton, 0 – Final – Oliver Ames picked up a non-league win on the road, sweeping neighboring Brockton. Sarah Leger won 6-2, 6-0 at first singles, Claudia Ferrara won 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 12-10 at second singles and Maura Kiernan notched a 6-3, 6-3 win at third singles. OA had two strong performances in doubles, with Tori Wyman and Tate Hadges earning a 6-0, 6-3 win at first doubles and Kristin Bloumbas and Olivia Groebe prevailing 6-3, 6-0 at second doubles.

Boys Volleyball
Taunton, 3 @ Durfee, 2 – Final – Taunton rallied from a two-game deficit to beat Durfee in five (16-25, 23-25, 29-27, 25-21, 15-9). Gage Kingman had a big day for the Tigers with 11 digs, nine kills and one ace and Mike Fernandez had seven kills and four blocks. THS coach Toby Chaperon said Jason Khang and Alex Tavares both provided the Tigers with a spark.
