Mansfield Names Salter As New Girls Soccer Coach

Mansfield has a new leader for its girls’ soccer program as Aaron Salter takes over as head coach following the departure of longtime coach Kevin Smith, who guided the team for more than two decades.
Salter has served as the program’s freshman coach for the past couple of seasons. Before joining the Hornets, he previously coached at Stoughton as the boys varsity coach for two seasons, guiding the Knights to a 17-17-5 record and a pair of playoff appearances in 2015 and 2016. He played semi-professionally in England, has been the Director of Coaching for Mansfield Youth Soccer since 2018, and is currently the Director of Coaching for NEFC South.
“I’m honored to take the reins of the Mansfield Girls High School Varsity program, following the incredible work of Coach Smith, who has built a fantastic and competitive team,” Salter told HockomockSports.com. “I’m excited for the opportunity to continue growing the program and carrying on the tradition of success.”
After an incredibly successful 21-year stint at the helm, Smith was hired as the women’s soccer coach at Cairn University (PA) this past June. A two-time HockomockSports.com Coach of the Year, Smith recorded over 200 wins in his tenure and guided the Hornets to the Division 2 state final in 2023 and the state semifinals a year ago. Smith’s sons Joshua and Toby, who both played at Attleboro, both played at Cairn. Toby is entering his junior year this fall.
