Attleboro

2024 Record: 10-8-1

The Bombardiers should enter the 2025 campaign with plenty of optimism, returning a strong core that makes them a serious contender in the Kelley-Rex division. With talent and experience spread across the field, Attleboro has the pieces to compete with anyone in the league.

Senior captain Kelsey McCleary, committed to Assumption University, will once again anchor the midfield. A dynamic two-way player with vision, speed, and creativity, McCleary does much more than her stats show and is a true playmaker in every sense of the word. She’ll be joined in the midfield by sophomore Tatiana Outland, who impressed as a rookie starter last fall with her pace, defensive skills, and confidence carrying the ball out of the back. On the attack, junior Megan Huntington will spearhead the offense after a breakout season in which she finished top 10 in the Hock with 10 goals and 16 assists. Her ability to push the tempo and create scoring chances will be crucial for the Bombardiers’ high-paced style.

Defensively, the Bombardiers will be led by senior Makenzie Aveiro, a HockomockSports.com Second Team selection last year. With her experience and leadership, Aveiro will be the anchor of the back line and a steady voice organizing the defense. Sophomore Nile Kerr adds depth alongside her, bringing strong stick work, good positioning, and the ability to jump into transition. Behind them, Attleboro will have a new starter in net with junior Mikayla Whitehead stepping up from JV. While replacing standout goalie Siany Ortez-Amaya (HockomockSports First Team) won’t be easy, Whitehead has shown strong growth and continues to improve each day. With three returning starters in front of her, the Bombardiers’ defense should remain a strength.

“Attleboro field hockey is ready for the 2025 season,” said head coach Jess Pink. “The girls have worked hard in the offseason and I cannot wait to see all they have done and all we continue to work on, be applied on the field. We have high expectations this year as a coaching staff and we know the girls can achieve those expectations.”

Canton

2024 Record: 19-3-0 (Davenport division champions)
2024 Finish: Reached Div. 2 state semifinals

The Bulldogs come into 2025 looking to build on a memorable run to the Division 2 state semifinals, where they came just shy of reaching the championship game. With the majority of their offense back and hungry for more, Canton has its sights set on taking the final step this fall.

Up front, Canton boasts one of the league’s most dangerous attacks. Junior Shannon Lane, last year’s leading scorer in the Hock and a Providence commit, returns after a dominant season in which she proved nearly unstoppable around the circle. She’s joined by senior Carolyn Schiavo, a Bucknell commit and one of the league’s best stick handlers, whose vision and control make her a constant threat. Juniors Cassidy Lyons and Ellie Young add balance and pace through the midfield, while seniors Nora Giannacopoulos and Michaela Dickie bring experience, leadership, and additional firepower to the lineup. Sophomore Tabitha McCready is a player to watch as she looks to carve out a role in a dangerous offensive group.

Defensively, the Bulldogs will need to replace some key starters, but the foundation remains strong thanks to senior goalie Shealyn Murphy, a two-time HockomockSports Second Team goalie selection. Her confidence and shot-stopping ability give Canton stability as the back line develops chemistry with some new faces. With so much offensive firepower and a proven anchor in goal, the Bulldogs will be a major contender again this season.

“We are excited about this season,” said head coach Chrissy O’Connor. “With several returning starters, a strong offensive group and a goalie coming off a great year, we feel confident in our experience. The players have been working hard, and we’re looking forward to building on last season’s success.”

Foxboro

2024 Record: 11-7-2
2024 Finish: Reached Div. 3 Round of 16
Coach: Melissa Bordieri

Foxboro has long been one of the league’s most competitive programs and enters 2025 determined to remain among the top contenders under longtime head coach Melissa Bordieri, now in her 23rd season at the helm. With a strong group of returning starters and experienced leaders, the Warriors have the foundation to continue their tradition of success.

Junior captain Brynn Allen, Bordieri’s first-ever junior captain, and classmate Lauren Share bring skill and experience in the midfield and will help set the tone for a fairly young team. Senior captains Reese Hassman and Camilla Burton give the Warriors proven scoring options up front, with Hassman providing a presence inside the circle and Burton adding versatility on the wing. Together, that group gives Foxboro balance in the middle and plenty of offensive punch.

Defensively, the Warriors will rely on senior captain and returning starter Kathleen Staruski, who anchors the back from between the pipes. A UMass Lowell commit, Staruski combines athleticism and fearlessness in net with quick feet and strong decision-making. Her experience and leadership will be critical as Foxboro develops a younger defensive group in front of her.

“We return a strong core of experienced leaders on both sides of the field,” said Bordieri. “Their leadership, skill, and competitiveness will be key as we develop a fairly young team this season.”

franklin

2024 Record: 19-2-0 (Kelley-Rex division champions)

Franklin enters the 2025 season as the perennial favorite in the Kelley-Rex, still riding one of the most remarkable runs in league history. The Panthers have gone unbeaten in their last 94 league games — including 45 straight wins — and haven’t lost a Hockomock contest since 2018. While graduation took away some of the program’s biggest stars, including Raena Crandall (Sacred Heart) and HockomockSports.com Player of the Year Haley Wernig (UMass Lowell), Franklin once again has the depth, talent, and experience to remain the team to beat.

The Panthers will be anchored in net by senior captain Devon Barry, a four-year starter who has developed into one of the league’s best goalies. Last fall, she posted a 0.84 goals-against average and three shutouts, and her leadership and composure will be central to Franklin’s defense. In front of her, senior captains Ava Lucenta and Liz Dumais return to lead the back line, joined by sophomore Clara Blongastainer and junior Jossie Camp, who shifts into a defensive role after excelling in the midfield a year ago. Together, that group should keep Franklin among the stingiest defenses in the state.

Despite losing much of its scoring punch, Franklin has plenty of firepower ready to step up. Junior Ella Marzullo is coming off a breakout season in which she netted 19 goals and 13 assists, while senior captain Addi Weiss (nine goals, four assists) provides speed and skill up front. Sophomore Penelope Brady and freshman Cade Taccini are two players to watch; Brady’s creativity and finishing make her a rising offensive threat, while Taccini has already earned the starting center mid spot with her high field hockey IQ and pace in transition. Juniors Caydence Canavan and Tori Cahill add energy and control to the midfield, while a group of freshmen including Lily Aparo, Lila Reardon, and Riley Goodman will bolster the attack.

“Franklin field hockey is ready to defend our Hockomock Kelley-Rex championship title and to once again make it deep into the state tournament,” said head coach Michelle Hess. “We are blessed with outstanding captains, and this team is very talented, extremely coachable, and so much fun to be around. I cannot wait to see what this team can accomplish.”

King Philip

2024 Record: 13-7-1

The Warriors are once again expected to be among the top teams in the league, coming off a 13-win season that included an impressive run to the Division 1 quarterfinals where they nearly knocked off Wellesley on the road. With a strong defensive core and a group of underclassmen ready to step into larger roles, KP enters the new season with plenty of optimism.

In net, senior Lauren Griffin provides stability and leadership after establishing herself as a dependable presence between the pipes last fall. In front of her, seniors Cam O’Shea and Nora Tobichuk will lead a defensive group that combines experience and toughness, giving the Warriors confidence that they can once again keep games tight against tough competition (which KP has plenty of this year). Sophomore Caitlyn McManus will also take on a bigger role in the midfield and in defensive responsibilities, adding more depth to the unit.

While the offense will be younger this fall, there’s still plenty of varsity experience and talent to keep KP dangerous in the attacking third. Juniors Ella Morgan, Tayla McDuff, Calleigh Brady, and Courtney Lewis are all poised to build off of last year, and their development will be key to the Warriors’ scoring depth. The midfield will be central to generating offense and controlling the tempo, with KP leaning on its skill and speed to create multiple scoring threats inside the circle.

“This season we are excited to face new challenges with the league schedule and the flexibility of out-of-league games,” said head coach Kaitlyn Wilder. “Our focus has been on connecting as a team and becoming one unit. We have depth, speed, and skill, and we’re eager to see how it all comes together.”

Mansfield

2024 Record: 5-12-2

Coach: Carrie Ciccarelli

Mansfield enters the 2025 season eager to build on last year’s playoff appearance while filling the void left by some key graduates. With leading scorer Ella Palanza and top defender Carys Colby both moving on after standout careers, the Hornets will lean on its experienced core and a wave of emerging talent ready to seize bigger roles.

Up front, senior captain Tessa Johnson will spearhead the attack. A fast and physical forward, Johnson has the ability to create her own scoring chances and finish around the cage. She’ll be joined by newcomer Mem Krieche, whose speed and energy add a new dimension to the front line. In the midfield, sophomore Maria Dodd will take over in the pivotal center mid role, while junior Grace Sigman provides stability on the left side and junior Brielle Bilodeau offers an offensive punch on the right with a powerful shot.

Defensively, Mansfield looks to be in good hands with an experienced group leading the way. Senior captain Gwynne Pare, a University of New Haven commit, will anchor the back line from the center back spot, bringing both composure and toughness. Senior captain Annalise Bilodeau adds another steady presence at left back, giving the Hornets veteran leadership across the defense. In goal, sophomore Addison Cooper will take on a larger role this season after gaining varsity minutes last fall, and her quick reflexes and aggressiveness should serve her well as she grows into the position.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with our preseason effort,” said head coach Carrie Ciccarelli. “I am quite fortunate to have such a coachable and driven group of athletes to work with. We are making strides and improving every day and I cannot wait to see what this team brings to the table on game day.”

Milford

2024 Record: 2-15-1
2024 Finish: Missed postseason

The Scarlet Hawks enter 2025 eager to continue learning and growing as a program while becoming more competitive within the league. With a new schedule format providing flexibility to find good matchups outside of the Hockomock, Milford is optimistic this season will bring important strides forward.

In net, the Scarlet Hawks are anchored by senior captain Kylie Merrill, an experienced goalie entering her third year as a starter. Merrill has totaled 284 career saves and continues to develop her leadership and poise. Her ability to organize the defense and make timely stops will be key for Milford in staying competitive.

Senior captain Kayleigh Morin will lead the offense from the center forward spot. A steady and reliable presence, Morin can create her own chances or set up teammates and provides the quiet leadership this young team will lean on. With several new players stepping into bigger roles, the Hawks are focused on communication, chemistry, and capitalizing on opportunities as they continue to build.

“My girls have a lot to learn but are ready and willing to put the work in and show our competition we are ready,” said head coach Jenna Casello. “Our focus this year will be communication and using our momentum in a positive way. We do great things, but need to work on capitalizing on the opportunities we have!”

North Attleboro

2024 Record: 8-10-1
2024 Finish: Reached Div. 2 Round of 32

The Rocketeers are coming off an eight-win campaign that ended with a playoff appearance, and this fall they’ll look to return to the postseason despite graduating a large senior class. With several key returners and some younger players ready to step in, North is focused on building chemistry and continuing to play with grit under longtime head coach Karen Folan.

Senior captain Julia Smith headlines the attack in her third varsity season at center forward. Smith’s speed and aggressiveness around the cage make her a constant threat on breakaways and rebounds. She’ll be joined up front by fellow seniors Grace Jordan, who excels with her reverse sweep from the wing, and Janessa Ferreira, whose length and reach allow her to redirect passes in front of the net. The midfield diamond is balanced with experience and skill, led by captains Bailey Converse and Riley Charron, who bring a mix of composure, vision, and toughness.

Defensively, North will need to replace some big losses but has pieces in place to hold steady. Senior Maggie Mazmanian and sophomore newcomer Lindsey Degirolamo will be important in front of the cage, with Degirolamo bringing speed and strong tackling skills in her varsity debut. In goal, junior Olivia Trottier and freshman Ava Sharpe are both new to the varsity level and will split time early in the season as they continue to gain experience.

“The varsity squad is excited to take the field,” said Folan. “We have spent time during preseason cleaning up our ball control and passes to have greater possession of the ball and be more in control of the play.”

Oliver Ames

2024 Record: 10-7-2

Coach: Alexandria Sylvia

The Tigers are coming off a 10-win season and a trip to the state tournament, and with most of their starting lineup returning, they’re aiming to be right in the mix for the Davenport title. Under head coach Alex Sylvia, now in her fourth year at the helm, OA continues to be one of the toughest teams to play in the league thanks to its balance and competitiveness across the field.

Up front, senior Kayla Kenney will spearhead the attack after establishing herself as a dangerous scoring threat. The midfield will be a major strength, led by Anna Luke and Katelyn Lemanski, who bring speed and control to transition play, while senior Linda Cooper, one of the league’s top defensive midfielders, adds grit and composure with her ability to dictate the pace and shut down opponents. In the back, Monica Scarbrough will anchor the defense inside the circle and has the versatility to jump into the play when needed. Sophomore goalie Carly Basse, who gained valuable experience as a rookie, returns as the starter and gives OA confidence in net.

OA will also look to a group of newcomers to contribute right away, including freshman Alexa Kavanaugh, junior Grace Pelfrey, and sophomore Avery Rothwell, who have all impressed during preseason and add depth in key areas. With improved communication and speed up front and a patient, disciplined defensive group, the Tigers have the pieces to contend in the Davenport.

“I am very excited for this season,” said Sylvia. “Our team dynamic is different this year and the players have been adapting to new positions and systems very well. Our strong leadership from the senior class is setting a great example for the underclassmen.”

Sharon

2024 Record: 1-16-1
2024 Finish: Missed postseason

The Eagles battled through a challenging schedule last fall but return this season eager to lay a strong foundation and continue moving the program forward. With more experience across the field and a growing youth program feeding into the program, Sharon is optimistic about taking steps toward being more competitive in the Hockomock League.

In net, senior captain Laasya Allam will be a vital presence once again after recording more than 200 saves a year ago. Her leadership and poise give the Eagles confidence in the back. Up front, Sharon will look to generate more scoring through junior Rachel Needle and senior captain Shia Kwon, both of whom will be central to the attack. On the defensive side, Hailey Sand brings a big stick and strong presence, joined by Alexa Newbold to form the core of the unit. Newcomers Charlotte Hendrixson and Amanda Li are expected to add depth and toughness to the back line, giving Sharon more stability in front of Allam.

The future also looks bright with the first wave of players from the Sharon Youth Field Hockey League beginning to filter into the program, providing valuable experience and energy. That development, coupled with the addition of new JV coach Jillian Pagliuca, has Sharon confident in the direction the program is heading.

“We are excited to see the growth of this team and the impact of our younger players,” said head coach Liz Krasofski. “The girls are working hard and we’re optimistic about the future of Sharon field hockey.”

Stoughton

2024 Record: 4-12-2
2024 Finish: Missed postseason

The Black Knights enter the 2025 season with a year of valuable experience under their belt and a strong group of leaders ready to guide the program forward. After leaning on several young players last fall, Stoughton returns with more confidence and is eager to continue building in a competitive Hockomock League.

Senior leaders Casey Groppi, Megan McGowan, Neala Garrels, and Julia Monaghan have helped set the tone throughout the offseason, providing stability and work ethic for a group that is looking to take the next step. Up front, sophomores Kayla Monaghan and Raegan Costello will be key pieces in the attack, working alongside Garrels to form a more balanced and dynamic frontline. In the midfield, Groppi’s versatility and Monaghan’s playmaking ability will give Stoughton a strong presence in transition, while McGowan brings consistency and toughness to the defensive unit.

Defensively, the Black Knights return two starters on the back line, giving them experience in front of a goalie competition that should help raise the level of play. Both Truly Harding and Ady Guinta are pushing each other for the starting spot, and the healthy competition has given the team confidence that the position will be a strength.

“This upcoming season, Stoughton is fortunate to have excellent leaders who have set the tone for our team this year,” said head coach Caitlin Jamiel. “Casey Groppi, Julia Monaghan, Megan McGowan and Neala Garrels did a great job in the offseason, and are eager to be fully underway this fall. We look forward to being competitive and upbeat as we push through the season.”

Taunton

2024 Record: 3-12-3

The Tigers bring back a young but energetic group in 2025, focused on turning their speed and grit into more competitive play within the league. With returning experience in key spots and an influx of hungry newcomers, Taunton is aiming to keep improving and put itself into the playoff conversation.

In net, junior Kennedy MacEachern will be the backbone of the defense. A vocal leader with strong game sense, MacEachern’s command of the backfield gives the Tigers stability and direction. In front of her, senior Meghan Krockta will be a key piece both in the midfield and on defense, using her ability to cover ground and recover quickly to help in transition. Junior Logan Wade adds another steady presence in the midfield, capable of sparking possessions and creating space for her teammates.

On the attacking end, senior forward Tori Corrao brings speed and composure to the circle, consistently creating opportunities for herself and others. She’ll be joined by junior newcomer Colbie Peterson, whose pace and ball control make her a promising addition to the front line. With a core that mixes leadership and youth, Taunton will look to use its athleticism and determination to stay competitive each game.

“Our youth and speed are our biggest asset this season,” said head coach Liz Hathaway. “We have a lot of young players whose eagerness to play will make a difference for us this fall, and our defenders bring a sense of grit and determination.”
