King Philip, 8 @ Attleboro, 0 – FinalKing Philip broke open a close game with six runs in the seventh inning to pick up a win on the road at Attleboro. The Warriors took the lead with two runs in the second inning but didn’t breakthrough again until the top of the seventh. In the top of the second, Ryan Coulter singled, stole second and then scored on a base hit from Chris Wing. Wing came across to score on a double by Patrick Limerick. Wing got the win on the mound for the Warriors, tossing a complete game with six hits allowed. The senior struck out eight batters in the win. In the seventh inning, Will Weir tripled in Kyle Guenthner, Weir came across on a single from Ben Furfari, Collin Cooke knocked in Furfari with a base hit and Jack Webster and Cooke scored on a double from Wing. Attleboro’s Tyler McGovern tossed five solid innings for the Bombardiers with two runs allowed.

North Attleboro, 11 @ Canton, 2 – FinalNorth Attleboro scored a pair of runs in each of the second and third innings and really created separation with a five-run fifth inning. Big Red added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Junior Nick Sinacola had a standout performance, both at the plate and on the mound for the Rockteers. He tossed six innings, scattering five hits with just one walk allowed while striking out eight. At the plate, Sinacola went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a triple, a run scored and three RBI. Kyle McCarthy added two hits, two runs and two RBI, John Brennan had a pair of hits and Zach DeMattio hit a solo home run.

Oliver Ames, 0 @ Franklin, 1 – FinalFranklin emerged from a pitcher’s duel with a 1-0 win, scoring the lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Franklin lefty Jason Ulrickson went the distance, tossing a complete game shutout with just four hits allowed. He walked just one batter while striking out three. Ulrickson also had a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-3. Oliver Ames sophomore Tom Parker also had a strong performance, going five-plus innings with just three hits against and two walks. The sophomore struck out a pair while allowing just the one. Franklin senior Ryan Hodgkins scored the lone run of the game, coming home on a sacrifice fly to right field from Josh Macchi. The Panthers had a strong game defensively, led by sophomore shortstop Alex Haba, who had eight putouts.

Mansfield, 0 @ Taunton, 2 – FinalJunior Tyler Medeiros shined in his first start of the season, striking out four while allowing just three hits and one walk in six scoreless innings. Trevor Pietrzyk and Danny Keogh (save) combined for a scoreless seventh inning to close the game. Taunton junior Joe Manchester singled in the fourth inning and came around to score after an errant pickoff attempt and a misplay in the outfield. Taunton tacked on a second run in the fifth. Billy Emerson singled, advanced to second on a sacrifice by David Schofield, advanced to third on a single from Matt Machado and scored on a single to left field from junior Jacob Crawford. “Tyler threw the ball exceptionally well today,” said first year head coach Blair Bourque. “He threw strikes and let his defense make plays for him. After the first inning he really settled in. He was mixing his pitches up and hitting corners.” Mansfield’s Nolan Dousa struck out six in six innings of work, scattering six hits. Max Boen had two hits for Mansfield.

Milford, 0 @ Stoughton, 15 – Final (5 inn.)For the second time in three games, Stoughton’s offense has reached double figures in hits and runs scored. The Black Knights belted 16 hits while coming across to score 15 runs. Stoughton senior Justin Hutchinson (3-for-4 at the plate with a double, two runs and an RBI) got the win on the mound, tossing four shutout innings with just two hits and one walk allowed, all while striking out seven batters. Sophomore Evan Gibb (2-for-3, three RBI, run) tossed a scoreless 1-2-3 fifth inning with a pair of strikeouts. Also hitting well for the Black Knights were Ruben Gonzalez (3-for-4, three runs, RBI, three stolen bases), Jack Connelly (2-for-2, double, home run, three runs, three RBI), Pat Hagerty (2-for-3, triple, RBI, three runs), Nick Hardy (2-for-3, double, run, two RBI), Matt Hadley (triple) and Ryan Sullivan (run, RBI).

Softball
Attleboro @ King Philip, 3:45

Canton, 0 @ North Attleboro, 21 – Final (5 inn.)Bella Erti was perfect through five innings to pick up the victory for North Attleboro, striking out five of the 15 hitters she faced. Olivia Capobianco went 4-for-5 and Liz Morehouse went 3-for-4 for North. Also for the Rocketeers, Meg Barlow, Amelia Murphy (3-for-3 on the day), and Stephanie Inglese each had two-run homers.

Franklin, 13 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – FinalFranklin turned a 2-0 deficit into a big lead, plating 10 runs in the fourth inning and then adding three more runs in the sixth inning. Ally Shea had a hit and knocked in two runs for the Panthers while Meg Caron and Olivia Haba each knocked in three runs. Sophomore Emily Valentino tossed a complete game, striking out one to earn her first varsity win.

Taunton, 5 @ Mansfield, 0 – FinalCourtney Fisher went the distance for the Tigers, tossing a three-hit shutout with six strikeouts. Hannah Aldrich went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored a pair of runs for Taunton, while Jaime Brown had a pair of hits and Kya Enos drove in a pair of runs. Sarah Cahill made her first varsity start for the Hornets and went five innings, allowing just five hits.

Stoughton, 2 @ Milford, 10 – FinalThe Scarlet Hawks broke the game open with a five-run third inning, turning a one-run deficit into a lead. Jess Tomaso (3-for-4, double, six RBI) had a three-run homer run and three batters later, Kelley Reichert (2-for-4) had a two run single to put Milford up 5-1. Shannon Cormier drew three walks and came around to score each time for Milford. Reichert got the win in the circle, tossing a complete game with five strikeouts.

Boys Lacrosse
Attleboro, 17 @ Stoughton, 4 – Final

Canton, 6 @ Scituate, 12 – FinalThe Bulldogs finally played their first game of the season, but fell on the road to a tough Scituate team. Sophomore Mike Shaw led the Bulldogs with three goals and one assist while Kevin Albert added three asses. Ryan Lodge scored a pair of goals, Dan Cohen netted one tally and Nick Allen chipped in with two assists. Freshman Jack Connolly played with in goal in his first varsity game, making 12 saves.

Franklin, 7 vs. BC High, 8 – Final

King Philip, 8 @ Bishop Feehan, 7 – FinalKing Philip overcame a plethora of penalties to edge out Bishop Feehan. The Warriors were down a man for over 16 minutes in the game but a great defensive effort and a stellar performance from Paul Macrina in goal helped KP hang on. Macrina made 16 saves in net while first year head coach Jamie Stefanini said Michael Curtain, Connor Khung, Zach D’Amico (goal), Wes Bishop and Garrett Maxwell all played outstanding. John DeLuca scored a pair of goals for KP while Tim Watson had one goal and two assists, Colin DeVellis had one goal and one assist and Ben Palmer and Robert Tartagulla each scored once.

Oliver Ames, 4 @ Silver Lake, 5 – FinalOliver Ames shut out Silver Lake in the fourth quarter and scored three unanswered goals but fell just shy of completing its comeback against the Lakers. Senior Liam Brown, juniors Owen Gallagher and Eric LeBlanc and freshman Shane Kikelly each scored once for OA.

Girls Lacrosse
Foxboro, 7 @ Walpole, 8 – FinalSophia DiCenso and Caroline Boudreau each scored hat tricks for the Warriors and Meghan Curran added one. Freshman goalie Sara Addeche made six saves, as Foxboro held the defending Div. 2 state champions scoreless in the second half.

King Philip vs. Bishop Feehan, 4:00

North Attleboro, 8 @ Mansfield, 4 – FinalKatie Lindstrom, Erin Holley and Kenzie Rosenberg each scored two goals for the Rocketeers and goalie Kayla Moulin made 12 saves in the win.

Milford, 19 vs. Bellingham, 5 – Final

Oliver Ames, 7 @ Whitman-Hanson, 9 – FinalEmalyn Duvall recorded a hat trick and Sofia Masciarelli found the back of the net twice but the Tigers fell on the road at Whitman-Hanson. OA goalie Ari Waldorf made 14 saves for the Tigers.

Boys Tennis
Attleboro, 0 @ King Philip, 5 – FinalCole Ginter didn’t drop a game at first singles, the team of Ryan Gemelli and Sam Collela did the same at first doubles and KP won all five matches in straight sets to beat Attleboro. Ginter won 6-0, 6-0 at first while brother Blake Ginter won 6-1, 6-0 at second singles. Martin Martous won 6-0, 6-1 at third singles for KP. Gemelli and Collela won 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles while Jake Webster and Marco DiStefano won 6-0, 6-1 at second doubles.

Canton, 1 @ North Attleboro, 4 – FinalNorth Attleboro dominated in both doubles matches and took wins at second and third singles to pick up a win over Canton. Senior Barsomo Nuay win 6-2, 6-3 at second singles and junior Alex Rinaldi won 6-1, 6-3 at third singles. The team of senior Daniel Zhang and junior Ben Pfeffer won 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles and senior Andrew Harris and Vikram Senthilakumaran won 6-1, 6-0 at second doubles. Canton junior Jake Wolicki won 6-1, 6-4 at first singles for the Bulldogs’ lone win.

Franklin, 5 @ Oliver Ames, 0 – FinalFranklin’s Tony Calderone and Dan Angermeier both made their varsity debuts, teaming up at second doubles and won in straight sets without losing a single game. The pair won 6-0, 6-0 at second doubles while the team of James Johnston and Derek Wu won by the same score at first doubles. Rahul Herur won 6-2, 6-2 at first singles, Eli Brooks won 6-1, 6-1 at second singles and Rohan Herur won 6-0, 6-2 at third singles.

North Attleboro, 5 @ Canton, 0 – FinalNorth Attleboro’s Emily Chiasson and Jordan Willis each won in straight sets without dropping a game to pace the Rocketeers. Chiasson won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles while Willis won with the same score at second singles. Kate Ovoian won 6-3, 6-1 at third singles. The team of Gabby Duva and Azka Siddiq won 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles while Katie Demontigny and Hana Hershey won 6-2, 6-0 at second doubles.

Oliver Ames, 2 @ Franklin, 3 – FinalFranklin junior Hailey Strier rallied back after dropping the first set, winning the second set 7-5 and then winning the tiebreaker, 10-8, to secure the win for the Panthers. Franklin also got wins from senior Hannah Sweeney (6-0, 6-0 at first singles) and senior Anja Deric (6-1, 6-3 at second singles). Oliver Ames swept doubles play as Tori Wyman and Kristin Bloumbas won 6-2, 7-5 at first doubles and freshmen Tate Hadges and Maura Kiernan won 6-1, 6-2 at second doubles.

Mansfield, 0 @ Taunton, 5 – Final – Taunton won all five matches in straight sets with Jillian Pagliuca taking the win at third singles without losing a game (6-0, 6-0). Olivia Sweeney won 6-4, 6-2 at first singles, Jordan Pagliuca won 6-2, 6-0 at second singles, Emily Moor and Ashleigh Eason won 6-2, 6-4 at first doubles and Callie Herbert and Jordan Martin won 6-2, 6-1 at second doubles.

Milford @ Stoughton, 3:45

Boys Volleyball
Milford, 3 vs. Nipmuc, 1 – FinalMilford picked up its third win of the season, beating Nipmuc 25-21, 25-20, 16-25, 25-19. Outside hitter Jack Winship had 18 kills and 18 digs, middle Joao Boaventura had 10 kills, 11 digs and four blocks and setter Danny Zwonik finished with 37 assists, a block and an ace.

Taunton, 3 vs. Durfee, 1 – FinalThe Tigers defended home court with a 25-20, 25-16, 14-25, 25-21 win over the Hilltoppers on Monday. Lens Esquil had eight kills, three blocks and an ace, Lance Law had seven kills, a block and an ace, Collin Hunter added five kills, two blocks and two aces and David Fusiecki had six digs, two blocks, two kills and an ace.

Friday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 05/20/16

Attleboro, 13 @ Dartmouth, 7 – Final – Sophomore Dakota Kirby knocked in a team-high four runs on three hits to lead the Bombardiers. Nate Tellier went 2-3 with a pair of RBI, pair of runs and pair of stolen bases while Robbie Araujo went 3-5 with an RBI.

Canton, 7 vs. Cohasset, 0 – Final – Canton senior Kevin Powers allowed just three hits in a complete game shutout effort, striking out six on 73 pitches for the win. Jim Jenkins was a perfect 3-3 at the plate with a pair of singles and a double, Matt Casamento went 2-2 with a stolen base and two runs scored and Jimmy Hamrock scored a run.

Sharon, 5 @ King Philip, 3 – FinalThe Eagles scored three runs in the third and added two more in the fifth to build the lead. Sharon freshman left handed pitcher Noah Kamens made his varsity debut, tossing 5.2 innings for his first career win. Jordan Chabot went 2-4 with a double and a triple and knocked in three runs for Sharon.

Stoughton, 1 @ Brockton, 0 – Final – Stoughton’s Justin Hutchinson tossed a one-hit complete game shutout, striking out five to lead the Black Knights to a win at Campanelli Stadium. Stoughton’s lone run came in the top of the second when Ryan Sullivan reached on a fielder’s choice. Joe Piana’s two out RBI single plated Sullivan for the lone run of the game.

Softball
Attleboro vs. Dartmouth, 4:00

Franklin, 3 vs. Bridgewater-Raynham, 2 – Final – After Bridgewater-Raynham opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with a run, Franklin replied right away in the bottom half. Allie Shea led off with a single and Clara DeCarlvalho reached on an error. Alexx Niss then smashed a three run home run over the fence in centerfield. Caroline D’Aprile struck out five to get the win for Franklin. DeCarvalho also threw out two runners trying to steal with freshman Tara Hartnett applying the tags.

Mansfield, 3 @ Milford, 8 – Final – Maggie Farrell launched a three run home run to center field in the fifth inning, turning a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead and the Scarlet Hawks never looked back. Farrell went 2-4 with four RBI, also having a triple. Kate Irwin went 3-4 with a double, Jess Tomaso was 1-3 with a double, Megan Jacques went 1-2 with an RBI, a double and a walk and Emily Piergustavo went 2-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Ali Atherton struck out a career-high 14 batters, allowing just one earned run. Mansfield’s Maddie Letendre struck out five while allowing 10 hits.

Oliver Ames, 2 @ Weymouth, 3 – Final – OA’s Victoria Ziner was 2-3 with a double and a solo home run, Katie Pursley was 2-3 with a double, Jordyn Leite was 1-1 with a nice shot to center, and Dalene Gomes knocked in Sarah Tetrault on a suicide squeeze in the 7th. Kayla Georgeu pitched six innings for the Tigers striking out 5 and allowing only one earned run.

Sharon, 2 vs. Milton, 10 – Final – Senior catcher Rachel Usen went 3-for-4 (a double and two singles) with an RBI for the Eagles in the loss. Freshman Jody Goldenberg had an RBI double and sophomore Sam Marglous added a double and a run scored for Sharon.

Taunton, 24 @ Durfee, 0 – Final (5 inn.) – Jordan Wade hit a pair of home runs, knocking in four runs to lead Taunton’s offensive outburst. Courtney Fisher improved to 6-0 in the circle, allowing just one hit and striking out seven. Amber Wainwright had three hits, including a triple and two RBI, Bailey Clapp had three hits and two RBI, Sarah Bagge reached base five times, with two hits and five RBI and Aimee Kistner had two hits and an RBI.

Cole Ginter won 6-0, 6-2 at first singles, Garrett Schneider won 6-2, 6-0 at second singles and Blake Ginter won 6-0, 6-1 at third singles. Ryan Colella and Ryan Gemelli won 6-1, 6-2 at first doubles and Justin Rohan and Marco DiStefano won 6-0, 6-1 at second doubles.

Boys Volleyball
Milford, 1 @ Taunton, 3 – Final – The teams split the first two games but Taunton followed up with two straight wins to get the victory with a 25-17, 23-25, 25-15, 25-19 decision. David Perry stepped up on senior night for Taunton with 12 kills and 14 digs. Lance law added 18 kills, an ace and 14 digs and Lens Esquil had 12 kills and a block.

King Philip, 0 @ Attleboro, 2 – Final – Senior Nate Tellier was masterful on the mound for the Bombardiers in a complete game shutout. Tellier struck out 13 batters while allowing just one hit to keep the Kelley-Rex leading King Philip Warriors at bay. At the plate Tellier had a pair of hits. Freshman Dakota Kirby was a perfect 3-3 for Attleboro, having an RBI single in the fifth inning that made it 2-0. Senior Tyler Stowe have Attleboro the lead two at bats prior, singling in Brent Cook.

Milford, 14 @ Canton, 6 – Final

Foxboro, 0 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final – Stoughton junior Ryan Sullivan had one of his best outings of the year on the mound for the Black Knights, striking out 10 in a complete game shutout. Sullivan scattered five hits with just one walk and didn’t allow a run. The Black Knights’ offense cashed in in the bottom of the third. After Doug Seaman singles and stole second, Jack Connelly knocked in his team-leading 16th run of the season with a two-out single. Seaman went 2-3 and Connelly reached base twice with a stolen base.

Taunton, 2 @ Franklin, 6 – Final – Franklin turned a two run lead in the fourth inning to a comfortable cushion in a league win over Taunton. Nick Santucci connected for a two-out RBI triple in the inning, finishing the game 3-4 with a run. Jake Lyons added two RBI while Joe Corsi was 2-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Josh Macchi added two hits, including a double, and scored a run for the Panthers. Sophomore Jason Ulrickson was solid on the mound in a complete game effort, scattering five hits while walking one to get the win. Ulrickson struck out four with just one walk. Taunton’s Kevin Griffin went 2-3 with an RBI while Luke Figueira (2-3) and Joe Manchester (1-3) each scored a run for the Tigers.

North Attleboro, 0 @ Mansfield, 2 – Final – North Attleboro’s Andy Katch had no-hit Mansfield through five innings but the Hornets were finally able to break through in the sixth inning. Aidan Cahill got the team’s first hit with a one out single and Mike Arnold was hit by a pitch to reach. A sacrifice fly from Tyrone Pascual advanced the runners and Jake Tryder connected for a two-RBI double to score the only runs of the game. Jake Neureuter got the win for Mansfield, allowing just three hits in a complete game shutout. Neureuter struck out three and issued three walks in the win.

Sharon, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 1 – Final (8 inn.) – Oliver Ames walked off with a win for the second straight game and seniors Josh Minuskin and Ryan Adams were right in the middle of it. After Minuskin’s home run tied the game on Friday against Mansfield, he led of the bottom of the eighth inning with a single. Two wild pitches later, Minuskin was at third and Adams, who scored the winning run on Friday, knocked in the winning run. Senior Zach Sato pitched a two-hit shutout complete game for Oliver Ames, striking out four. Sharon sophomore starter Max Tarlin pitched seven scoreless innings for the Eagles.

Softball
Attleboro, 0 @ King Philip, 3 – Final

Canton, 1 @ Milford, 12 – Final – Milford’s Ali Atherton carried a no hitter through the sixth inning before the Bulldogs’ offense broke through. Atherton finished with eight strikeouts in a complete game to get the win. Offensively, freshman Emily Hartman had his first career home run for the Scarlet Hawks, blasting a two run shot. Jess Tomaso was 2/2 with a pair of walks and two RBI while Kaitlyn DeCapua was 2-4 with an RBI.

Stoughton, 5 @ Foxboro, 4 – Final – Stoughton scored all five runs in the fifth inning and held off a Foxboro four-run rally in the seventh. Bri Fernandez, Karly Estremera, and Gina Carafa each had two hits for the Black Knights. Shannon Flaherty threw a complete game with six strikeouts to pick up the win.

Taunton, 6 @ Franklin, 2 – Final – The Tigers’ offense cashed in in the fifth and sixth innings to get the win over the Panthers. Taunton scored four runs in the fifth and then tacked on two more in the sixth inning while Franklin scored twice in the seventh. Aimee Kistner got her 11th win of the season, striking out five while scattering four hits in a complete game effort. Kistner also paced the offense, going 4-4 with a pair of RBI while Jordan Wade was 3-3 with a triple, a walk and an RBI. Jaime Brown went 1-2 for the Tigers with a sac bunt, a walk and an RBI and Kya Enos added a double and an RBI. Allie Shea went 1-2 for Franklin with a pair of walks and knocked in both of the Panthers’ runs.

Mansfield, 2 @ North Attleboro, 6 – Final The Rocketeers turned to small ball to get its offense going, plating all six runs in the fifth inning. With one out in the inning, North Attleboro had eight straight batters reach and it resulted in six runs. Big Red had a pair of infield hits and a pair of bunt singles to get the offense going. Kaylea Sherman and Megan Barlow each went 2-3 at the plate for North while Gina Miceli was a perfect 3-3. Amelia Murphy struck out nine in a complete game effort for the Rocketeers. Mansfield responded with its two runs in top of the sixth off of four hits. Marissa Staffier went 1-2, Megan Letendre was 2-3, Mady Bendanillo went 1-3 with an RBI and Maddie Letendre was 1-2 with an RBI. Maddie Letendre struck out 10 batters while allowing seven hits for Mansfield.

Oliver Ames, 14 @ Sharon, 10 – Final – The Oliver Ames Tigers belted out 17 hits on the day, using its offense to best Sharon. Victoria Ziner was 3-5 with two RBI, including a home run, and two runs scored, Katie Pursley went 4-4 with four RBI, including a pair of home runs and a triple and scoring two runs for OA. Jamie Gottwald was 3-5 with a triple an RBI and three runs scored, Rachel Han scored three runs and Dalene Gomes (2-5) and Emma Papargiris (1-4, two RBI) each had a triple and scored for OA while Caroline Mahoney (2-5) also had an RBI and a run scored for the Tigers.

Boys Lacrosse
Attleboro, 1 @ North Attleboro, 7 – Final

Canton, 11 vs. Abington, 8 – Final – Canton built a 3-0 lead and that was all the separation that the Bulldogs needed to beat Abington. Shaun Kirby was the driving force behind the offense, registering a hat trick and adding a trio of assists in teh win. Thomas Monagle and Kevin Albert returned to net a goal each while Dan Nadeau stretched his goal scoring streak to two games. Canton got a boost from sophomore Charlie O’Connor, who dominated at the faceoff X for the Bulldogs.

Foxboro, 3 vs. Wayland, 8 – Final

King Philip, 6 @ Franklin, 13 – Final

Milford, 0 vs. Nipmuc, 19 – Final

Taunton, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 13 – Final – Oliver Ames kept its playoff hopes alive, moving within two wins of a postseason berth with the shutout win. Senior attack Matt Gilson had three goals and three assists, senior Middie Max Bamford had two goals and one assist, senior middie Aidan Connly added a pair of goals and one assist, senior middie Connor Howe had a goal and an assist and senior middie Mike Sullivan scored once. OA Senior goalie Jake Aronson had the shutout in the cage.

Sharon, 14 vs. Westwood, 22 – Final

North Attleboro, 19 @ Attleboro, 3 – Final – It was a day of milestones for North Attleboro in a non-league win over rival Attleboro. Hana Caster found the back of the net for the 200th time in her career while teammate Erin Holley notched her 100th career goal in the win.

Canton, 13 @ Milton, 8 – Final – Canton head coach Chrissy O’Connor praised the defense of Lauren Peplau and Tessa Cudmore, saying they played excellent in the Bulldogs’ win. Lindsey Nolte paced the offense, potting four goals for Canton.

King Philip, 4 @ Attleboro, 1 – Final – The Warriors of King Philip took care of business in singles play and got another win at doubles to beat Attleboro. Cole Ginter won 6-0, 6-2 at first singles, Garrett Schneider won 6-1, 6-1 at second doubles and Blake Ginter took a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at third singles. Justin Rohan and Marco DiStefano won 6-1, 6-0 at second doubles for KP. Attleboro’s Zain Yusuf and Shaun Gordon battled for a 7-5, 6-4 win at first singles.

Foxboro, 5 @ Stoughton, 0 – Final

Taunton, 0 @ Franklin, 5 – Final – It was a clean sweep for Franklin, who won all five matches in straight sets. Rahul Herur won 6-2, 6-1 at first singles, Eli Brooks ton 6-2, 6-0 at second singles and Dan Barrow won 6-3, 6-2 at third singles. Cam Piana and James Johnston took home a 6-1, 6-1 win at first doubles and Tyler DiPalma and Derek Wu won 6-0, 6-1 at second doubles.

North Attleboro, 4 @ Mansfield, 1 – Final – Junior Zack Pfeffer handled his match at second singles and classmate Barsomo Nuay battled for a three set win at third singles to lead Big Red. Pfeffer won 6-2, 6-2 while Nuay got a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win. Doubles teams of Jeff Yao and Nick Lockavitch (6-2, 6-3) and Jake Fontes and Daniel Zhang (6-3, 6-3) each won at first and second doubles respectively. Mansfield junior Benny Lin earned a 6-4, 6-2 at first singles for the Hornets’ lone win.

Sharon, 4 @ Oliver Ames, 1 – Final – After a weekend at the MIAA individual tournament, Sharon had an adjusted lineup but still clinched a win. Andre Olivei won 6-1, 6-3 at second singles and Andrew Tarnoff won 6-2, 6-0 at third singles. Alex Romantz and Adam Dobbin swept 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles and Tilak Mehta and Danujan Thirumavalavan also swept 6-0, 6-0 at second doubles. Oliver Ames senior Thomas O’Leary won 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (10-7) at first singles.

Girls Tennis
Attleboro, 0 @ King Philip, 5 – Final – Becca Ricci won 6-1, 6-1 at first singles for KP, Emily MacDonald won 6-3, 6-1 and Meghan Sepich took home a 6-0, 6-0 decision at third singles. The team of Kelly Masse and Carly Adams won 6-2, 6-0 at first doubles and Molly Citarell and Andrea Li won 6-3, 6-0 at second doubles.

Canton, 3 @ Milford, 2 – Final – The Bulldogs of Canton got a pair of wins in singles play and clinched the victory with a win at doubles. Carly Scanlan won 6-4, 6-2 at first singles and Skyler Jabbour won 6-3, 6-1 at second doubles for the Bulldogs while the team of Tiffany Ha and Sarah MacQuarrie won 6-0, 6-2 at first doubles. Milford’s Kate Rosenblatt won 6-2, 7-6 at third singles and the team of Jess McIntire and Kayla Thongpul won 7-5, 6-4 at second doubles.

Stoughton, 0 @ Foxboro, 5 – Final

Franklin, 3 @ Taunton, 2 – Final – Franklin went on the road and extracted a bit of revenge by avenging an early season loss to the Tigers. The Panthers used a sweep in singles play to edge of the Tigers. Junior Hannah Sweeney won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles while senior Anna Humphreys won 6-0, 6-1 at second singles and junior Anja Deric swept 6-0, 6-0 at third singles. Taunton’s Ashleigh Eason and Emily Moor won 7-6 (7-2), 3-0 (forfeit) at first doubles and Caroline Hebert and Jillian Pagliuca won 6-2, 6-0 at second doubles.

Mansfield, 0 @ North Attleboro, 5 – Final

Oliver Ames, 1 @ Sharon, 4 – Final – Sharon singles players cruised through in straight sets to help the Eagles earn the win. Lulu Yuan won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles, Nupur Shulka won 6-2, 6-0 at second singles and Emily Wen won 6-0, 6-0 at third singles. Pooja Puttigampala and Michal Kondratiev won 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles for Sharon. Oliver Ames’ Claudia Ferrara and Rachel Stryke won 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 at second doubles.

Franklin, 8 @ St. Peter Marian, 4 – Final – Franklin rallied from a 4-0 deficit in the sixth inning, plating eight runs in the top half to take the lead for good. Senior Nick Santucci went 2-4 with a double, a run scored and a pair of RBI, Ryan Hodgkins had an RBI and a double and Mike Skaza was 2-4 with a pair of RBI and a run scored. Bryan Woelfel, who had a pair of strikeouts, earned the win after an inning and two thirds in relief. Ryan Morse struck out one in 1.1 innings of work for the save.

Softball
Foxboro, 2 @ Franklin, 14 – Final (6 inn.) – Junior Alexx Niss continued her hot streak for the Panthers, knocking in seven runs with a single, double and a three run home run. Olivia DiGiacomo went 2-3 with a double and two RBI and Maddie Connelly was also 2-3 with an RBI, scoring three runs. Allie Shea reached bases three times for Franklin and Rachel Cousineau went 2-2 with a pair of runs scored. Caroline D’Aprile struck out four, allowing just one hit in three innings of work for Franklin.

King Philip, 10 @ Sharon, 8 – Final (9 inn.) – Jon Rolfe had three hits and was the catalyst in King Philip’s ninth inning. Rolfe walked in the ninth and advanced on a sac bunt from Jack DiCenso. Ben Furfari had a sacrifice fly, Ryan Coulter doubled and Stephen Murray singled to put the Warriors up. Rolfe was a perfect 3-3 at the plate while Coulter and Will Weir each had two hits. Jake Lannigan allowed six runs in 3 1/3 innings while Rolfe allowed two runs in 4 2/3 innings of relief. Jake Cavanagh closed the game with a strikeout in the ninth.

Milford, 4 @ Franklin, 5 – Final – Each time that Milford made a move, Franklin seemed to have an answer on Friday. The Scarlet Hawks took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth only for the Panthers to match it in the bottom half of the inning. Base hits from Olivia Haba and Alyssa DaSilva as well as a sacrifice fly from Julia Arms knotted the game 3-3. Milford’s Jess Tomaso (3-3) belted a solo home run in the top of the fifth but once again, Franklin had an answer. Allie Shea walked and Clara DeCarvalho’s base hit put two on. Junior Alexx Niss connected for a two run double in the inning to put the Panthers ahead 5-4. Caroline D’Aprile struck out four while scattering six hits for the Panthers. Haba came up with three catches in the final innings to help Franklin preserve the win.

Mansfield, 3 @ Needham, 2 – Final – Mansfield cashed in early, scoring all three of the team’s runs on four singles in the first inning. Freshman Mady Bendanillo knocked in one run and Liz Mackin plated the other two in the opening frame. Maddie Letendre struck out five, allowing just four hits for the Rockets, whiling going 2-3 at the plate. Rachel Carafa and Megan Letendre each added a hit for the Hornets.

Oliver Ames, 10 vs. Walpole, 8 – Final – Oliver Ames erased deficits in both the fourth and sixth innings. After trailing 3-0, Oliver Ames rallied for four runs in the fourth to take a lead. Walpole responded with five runs in the top of the sixth to seize an 8-4 lead but the Tigers clawed back again. A one out single from Dalene Gomes (run) started the rally and Emma Papargiris (2-3, run) followed suit with a hit to put two on. A bunt single from Lizzie Miller (run) loaded the bases for the Tigers. Missy Krim (run, RBI) and Rachel Han (3-4, two runs, RBI) each had an RBI single for OA. Victoria Ziner (run, RBI) hit a sacrifice fly to score Krim to tie the game. With two on, Jamie Gottwald (3-4, double, two runs, three RBI) belted a two run home run to centerfield to give the Tigers a 10-8 lead.

Sharon, 10 vs. Ursuline Academy, 4 – Final – Sharon freshman Alli Small hit her first career home run and classmate Jody Goldenberg had an RBI double to lead the Eagles to a non-league win. Senior Clara Cook pitched a complete game for the Eagles, scattering six hits while fanning 10 batters. Senior Jenny Friedman added a pair of hits for Sharon.

Stoughton, 8 vs. Brockton, 6 – Final – The Black Knights raced out to an early 8-0 lead and were able to fend off the Boxers to get the win. Karly Estremera hit a two-run homer to start the scoring for Stoughton and Bri Ferrandiz and Nicole Bodette each racked up two hits. Jeni D’Andrea, Sam Tullis, Gina Carafa, Courtney Campbell, Shannon Flaherty, Bridgette Whalen each had one hit for Stoughton. Shannon Flaherty got the win, pitching seven innings and giving up just two earned runs.

With that, the Eagles have now won 37 straight league titles, dating back to 1980. Griffin Fein won 6-3, 6-1 at first singles, Fred Bondar won 6-1, 6-3 at second singles and Han Cui won 6-1, 6-1 at third singles. The team of Adam Dobbin and Alex Romantz won 6-2, 6-1 at first doubles and the pairing of Tilak Mehta and Andre Olivei won 6-2, 6-5 at second doubles.
