Boys Basketball
Attleboro, 60 @ Oliver Ames, 55 – Final – Attleboro closed the third quarter with a big run to take the lead and held off a late push from Oliver Ames to get the win. Hayden Crowley, Connor Houle, and Jaiden Outland hit consecutive three-pointers and Justin Hanrahan added a bucket as the Bombardiers finished the third with an 11-0 surge, extending a two-point lead at halftime (24-22) into a 43-35 edge going into the fourth. The Tigers rallied to make it a four-point game at 55-51 but the Bombardiers were able to close it out. Crowley led a balanced scoring attack for the Bombardiers with a team-high 13 points while Neo Franco added 12 points in the win. Michael Beverly chipped in with nine points while both Outland and Hanrahan finished with eight points. Sophomore Cole Craffey paced Oliver Ames with 22 points while freshman Soren Lolonga added 21 points for the Tigers.

Milford, 46 @ Canton, 52 – Final – Canton’s Caden Mirliani and Jamaal McConnell had key back-to-back baskets midway through the fourth quarter to help the Bulldogs secure a win over Milford and a back-and-forth contest. The Hawks had a slim lead at halftime (27-24) and after three quarters (39-37) but the Bulldogs won the fourth quarter to win the game. Zaza Francoeur (team-high 18 points) drilled a three just under two minutes into the final frame to give Canton its first lead of the quarter but Milford freshman CJ Farrell (team-high 12 points) responded with a traditional three-point play to bring the Hawks level. Midway through the fourth, Mirliani sank a three, and after a stop defensively, found McConnell (nine points) for a bucket plus the foul, and after a made free throw, Canton had a six-point edge and the lead for good. Andrew Rivera chipped in with 11 points for Milford.

King Philip, 58 @ Foxboro, 50 – Final – King Philip erupted for nine three-pointers in the second half alone to overcome a 16-point deficit at halftime and beat Foxboro on the road. The hosts controlled the play in the opening two quarters, holding the visitors to eight points in each the first and second quarters. Senior Alex Penders shined in that same stretch, scoring 16 of his team-high 24 points in the opening 16 minutes to give Foxboro a 32-16 edge at the break. Grant Kinney (12 points) and Tommy McLeish (six points) each hit a pair of threes in the third and Tommy Kilroy (seven points) added another as KP outscored the hosts 17-7 in the third to shrink the deficit down to 39-33 going into the fourth. KP kept hitting from downtown in the fourth as Will Laplante hit one (and had nine of his 11 points in the final quarter) and Trevor Clyde hit two more and had all eight of his points in the fourth, and the Warriors finished with 13 three-pointers, and just five made two-point field goals.

Franklin, 78 @ Sharon, 51 – Final – Franklin had a dominant showing in the second half, pouring in 22 points in the third and 23 more points in the fourth to run away with a big win over Sharon. The Panthers established a 33-25 lead at halftime but the offense came to life with eight players finding the scoring column in the second half. Junior Sean O’Leary stayed hot on the offensive end with a game-high 25 points while senior Ben Harvey had a stellar game with 15 points – including 10 in the second half – along with 11 rebounds and 12 assists for a triple double. Justin Allen hit a trio of three-pointers on the game and scored 10 of his 13 points after the break and Geino Scaringello added a pair of threes and 10 points total. Jacob McLoughlin led a balanced scoring attack for the Eagles with 10 points while Matt Baur and Nate Katznelson each had nine points.

North Attleboro, 53 @ Stoughton, 55 – Final (OT) – Stoughton scored its only seven points of overtime in the final minute of play to pull out a win over North Attleboro. Stoughton’s Jayden Costa-Haywood (19 points) sank a free throw with 5.2 seconds left to give the Black Knights a 48-45 lead but North Attleboro’s Givany Carney (10 points) sank a three at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. The Rocketeers built a 53-48 lead with a bucket from sophomore Ryan Bannon (14 points) and a three from sophomore Jonnie Obuchowski. With under a minute to go, Stoughton had a three miss but Jarred Daughtry (10 points) wrestled the ball free under the basket and eventually finished a layup himself, plus the foul. A questionable technical foul led to a total of three free throws and Daughtry sank them all. The Black Knights got the ball back and Costa-Haywood was fouled, and he sank both of his free throws to take the lead. Stoughton was able to get a final stop to hold on for the win. North led 29-28 at half but a 15-point third quarter saw the Knights surge ahead going into the fourth. Liam Pearl added 15 points for Stoughton.

Girls Basketball
Oliver Ames, 50 @ Attleboro, 57 – Final – Attleboro scored 23 points in the fourth quarter, breaking open a tie game and pulling out a win that keeps the Bombardiers unbeaten in the league and alone atop the Kelley-Rex division. Kayla Goldrick finished with a game-high 19 points to lead the hosts, while freshman Avery Gamble led the Tigers with 18 points on 12-of-15 shooting from the free throw line. The Bombardiers got off to a strong start, jumping out to a 21-11 lead after the first. Goldrick scored eight points, Lily Routhier buried a pair of threes (her only points of the night), and Vanessa Ellis chipped in with five to put the home team in front. Gamble would score 13 points between the second and third quarters, matching Attleboro’s total by herself, to help OA climb back into the game, tying things at 34 apiece with eight minutes to go. The Bombardiers found another gear in the fourth, as Ellis scored nine of her 18 points in the frame, Goldrick added five more, and Avery James scored six of her nine points to help pull out the win. Kaydance Derba scored 14 points for OA and added two blocks and two steals, while Sarah Hilliard scored 11 points, 10 of them in the second half. Katherine Farley was big on the boards, grabbing seven rebounds in the first half for the Tigers.

Canton, 44 @ Milford, 50 – Final – Milford outscored Canton 15-9 in the fourth quarter to pull out its first league win of the season and second win its last three games. Brooke Ferreira led the way for the Hawks with 16 points, 11 of them in the first half as Milford led 24-22 at the break. Samya DaSilva was the game’s top scorer with 22. She scored 12 of Canton’s 15 points in the first quarter to keep things close. DaSilva added seven points and Erin Beatty scored six of her eight total in the third, as the Bulldogs managed to tie the game at 34-34 going into the fourth. Ferreira scored four points and freshman Katelyn Kearnan each scored four points in the final quarter to help seal the win. Emily Croteau added eight points for Milford and Han Hong chipped in with six points for the Bulldogs.

Foxboro, 86 @ King Philip, 41 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. Davenport-leading Foxboro surpassed the 80-point mark for the second straight game, putting together a 37-5 run between the opening two quarters to open up a big lead that it would never relinquish. Fresh off a new career-high on Friday night, Kailey Sullivan continued her hot shooting, burying four triples and scoring a game-high 27 points. Sullivan opened the game with 12 in the first quarter, as Foxboro went from 8-7 down to a 26-13 lead. The Warriors then opened the second by scoring the next 18 points before a Maddie Paschke three in the final minute of the quarter. Sullivan added another 10 in the third and Addie Ruter (20 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks) chipped in with eight points to keep pushing the lead. Camryn Collins finished with 19 points, including nine in the fourth, as well as eight rebounds, six assists, and six steals. Erin Foley also had a strong all-around game with seven points, eight rebounds, and five steals. KP was led by Emily Sawyer with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Jackie Bonner added nine points and three assists. Jessi Persky scored all six of her points in the fourth for KP.

Sharon, 31 @ Franklin, 73 – Final – Thirteen players got on the score sheet for the Panthers, who won for the second straight game. Franklin took a 29-15 lead into the locker room, but scored 44 points in the second half to pull away for a convincing victory. Katie Peterson scored 15 points for the hosts, including 11 of their 19 in the third quarter. Sasha Tracey had nine, all in the second half, and Bridget Leo, Caelyn Leonard, and Lizzie Newman each finished with eight points for Franklin. Jasmine Davis scored a game-high 21 points for the Eagles, continuing her impressive junior season. Carmen Leonardi chipped in with six, all in the third quatter.

Mansfield, 72 @ Taunton, 43 – Final – Mansfield’s offense clicked from the start on Tuesday and the Hornets, for the second time this season, matched a program-high with 72 points. The Hornets scored 41 points in the first half, including 24 in the second quarter, to open up a significant lead before the break and added another 31 after halftime to maintain that advantage. Abby Wager finished with a game-high 25 points and Kara Santos added 18 for the Hornets. The duo combined for 27 points in the first half, while Olivia Salisbury added seven before the break. Sophomore Franchesca Spagna came off the bench to score a career-high nine points, all in the fourth. Taunton got 11 points from freshman Taryn Campbell and 10 points from Skylar McCrohan. Cali Melo added seven of her nine points in the second half for the Tigers.

Stoughton, 31 @ North Attleboro, 42 – Final – North Attleboro jumped out to a 29-11 lead at halftime, using its full-court press to cause problems for the Black Knights, and pick up a win that moves the Rocketeers back above .500 in league play. Sam Faria helped North get off to a great start, scoring all of her game-high 16 points in the opening half, outscoring Stoughton on her own. Katie Corsetti added 14 points for the hosts. The Black Knights rallied in the second half, closing the gap with a little run, but North found the plays it needed to close out the win. Raina Tat was Stoughton’s top scorer with eight points. Kirsten McKay had seven points and six rebounds, Katrina Varnum finished with six points and 12 boards, and Leah McCarty added six points and six rebounds in the loss.

Friday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 12/16/22

Boys Basketball
Milford, 55 @ Attleboro, 63 – Final – Attleboro sank four of their nine threes in the fourth quarter to pull away from visiting Milford for their first win in their new gym. Jaiden Outland, who had a game-high 15 points, had one of those threes and scored seven points in the fourth while Hayden Crowley (nine points), Michael Beverly (14 points), and Neo Franco (10 points) also hit from downtown in the frame. Franco had a steal and a layup with just under two minutes to go to push Attleboro’s lead to 59-51 but a jumper from Andrew Rivera (at 1:26) and a layup from Luca Testa (with 45 seconds) brought the Hawks within four, at 59-55. Justin Hanrahan, Beverly, and Outland hit free throws down the stretch, and Spencer Sherck drew a charge to help the Bombardiers close out the win in the final minute. Attleboro head coach Mark Houle praised Sherck’s defensive effort against Milford, who were without two rotation players. Freshman CJ Farrell led Milford with 15 points, Ryan Franklin added 12 points, and Testa finished with 11 points.

Mansfield, 59 @ Foxboro, 50 – Final – Mansfield built a 12-point lead at halftime and opened the second half with a 12-0 run to surge past Foxboro in their first showdown as division rivals. After a back-and-forth first quarter that ended with a halfcourt buzzer beater from Trevor Foley (nine points, seven rebounds), Mansfield locked in defensively and limited the Warriors to just two field goals, outscoring the hosts 14-6 to build a 33-21 lead at halftime. Caden Colby (career-high 14 points) hit one of his four threes, Davon Sanders drove to the bucket for two, and Eddie McCoy (nine points) had back-to-back baskets, including a three, and Chris Hill (17 points, eight rebounds) finished a tough layup in transition as the Hornets pushed their lead to 45-21 with 4:30 to go in the third. Foxboro closed on a 13-0 run over the final three minutes to get to the final score. Alex Penders led Foxboro with 16 points while both Ryan Kelley and Sam Golub had eight points apiece.

Franklin, 58 @ King Philip, 50 – Final – Franklin finally pulled away in the fourth quarter, shaking an upset-minded King Philip squad, to grab a 58-50 win on the road. The Panthers led by two at the end of the first quarter (13-11) and halftime (24-22), and carried a three-point lead into the fourth quarter (40-37). Justin Allen hit a pair of key three-pointers in the fourth, Hansy Jacques had six of his 10 points in the frame, and the Panthers got a bucket each from Bradley Herndon, Ben Harvey (13 points), and Sean O’Leary (14 points) to close out the win. After a quiet first half, King Philip senior Will Laplante scored 15 of his 18 points in the second half while Tommy Kilroy added a career-high 12 points.

North Attleboro, 51 @ Taunton, 69 – Final – Buoyed by a 20-point second quarter and a 26-point third quarter, Taunton ran away with a big win at home over visiting North Attleboro. Chris Volcy exploded in the second half, netting 18 of his career-high 20 points to help the Tigers pull away. Senior Chris Perault added a career-high 19 points, knocking down all three of Taunton’s three-pointers. The Rocketeers and Tigers were locked in at 11-11 after eight minutes but Taunton established a 31-20 lead by the break as Troy Santos scored seven of his 11 points in the second quarter. Jonnie Obuchowski and Derek Maceda each scored nine points for the Rocketeers.

Stoughton, 45 @ Oliver Ames, 50 – Final – A see-saw back and forth battle ended with Oliver Ames holding on for a 50-45 win over neighboring Stoughton. With under two minutes to play and locked in a one-possession game at 43-40, Oliver Ames got a pair of big baskets from a pair of underclassmen. Sophomore Cole Craffey drove to the basket for a layup and freshman Soren Lolonga drained a three just before the minute mark to push the Tigers’ lead to 48-40. Stoughton freshman Aiden Wideout answered with a bucket down low off a feed from Liam Pearl, but Craffey was able to work his way through the defense with 20 seconds left to make it 50-42. Matt Greenspoon knocked down a three with 5.7 seconds left to close the gap to 50-45 but OA held on for the win. Chris Elias scored 10 of his team-high 15 points in the second quarter while Lolonga had all 15 of his points in the second half. Stoughton’s Jayden Costa-Haywood finished with a team-high 19 points while Greenspoon added 16 points for the Black Knights, who led 19-18 at halftime.

Girls Basketball
Attleboro, 56 @ Milford, 35 – Final – Attleboro had three players score in double figures and jumped out to a 20-point lead by halftime to secure its second straight win. Kayla Goldrick and Lily Routhier led the Bombardiers with 13 points apiece. Goldrick helped the visitors get off to a good start with six in the first and Routhier helped build a 36-16 lead at the break with a pair of threes and nine points in the second. Vanessa Ellis scored nine of her 11 points to help break the game open early. Merry Bosh added seven in the win. Milford was led by Erin Michelson’s nine points, all coming in the second half. Aliza Syed scored eight and Olivia Baglione chipped in with six for the Hawks.

Foxboro, 67 @ Mansfield, 31 – Final – Foxboro made it two straight wins to start the season with a dominant road win over fellow division title contender Mansfield. Camryn Collins powered the Warriors on offense with 24 points. Addie Ruter had 13 to continue her strong start to the season with another double-digit scoring night. Erin Foley chipped in with 10.

King Philip, 43 @ Franklin, 54 – Final – Thanks to a strong first half, Franklin picked up a second straight home win to start the season and kept alive its league win streak to 44 games. The Panthers jumped out to a 19-6 lead after one quarter and extended it to 31-15 going into the locker room. Sophomore Chloe Fales (career-high 16 points) and Katie Peterson (14 points) combined for 15 in the opening half and Caelyn Leonard buried a pair of threes and scored all eight of her points in the first. KP picked up its offense in the second half, and cut the lead to as little as seven points, but Franklin held on to secure the victory. Emily Sawyer scored 16 points, including eight in the third. Jackie Bonner had 13 points and Maddie Paschke added 11 in the loss.

Taunton, 46 @ North Attleboro, 32 – Final – Taunton put in a strong defensive performance to make it two wins from two games under first-year coach Gretchen Rodrigues. The Tigers held North to just 10 points in the first half (building a 13-point lead at the break) and then just six in the third quarter to pull away. Jillian Doherty led the way with 14 for the Tigers, including eight of the team’s 12 points in the first. Cali Melo added nine points, while sophomore Chelsea Bousquet had eight and freshman Taryn Campbell added seven. On a tough shooting night as a team, North was led by Ava McKeon’s 15 points. She scored 12 of North’s 16 in the fourth as the hosts tried to mount a late comeback. Freshman Ella McLaughlin added eight points in the loss.

Oliver Ames, 79 @ Stoughton, 42 – Final – OA carried over momentum from the second half of its opener against Franklin and exploded for 79 points on Friday to even its record after two games. The Tigers jumped out to a 21-5 lead after one quarter, extended it to 45-17 at halftime, and added another 22 points in the third. Freshman Kamryn Derba knocked down five three-pointers and finished with a game- (and career-) high 20 points. Classmate Avery Gamble added 14 points (on 9-of-11 from the line) and the duo combined for 25 points before the break. Freshman Maeve Horsman had 12 points, Kaydance Derba scored 11, and Annie Reilly had nine for OA. Stoughton also got an impressive performance from a freshman, as Kirsten McKay scored eight of her career-high 15 points in the third. She added five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Raina Tat chipped in with 10 points and Alyssa Edwards added eight. Katrina Varnum pulled down 14 rebounds for the Black Knights.

Sunday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 11/06/22

Girls Soccer
Division 2
#32 Ludlow, 0 @ #1 Oliver Ames, 4 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. Lucinda Li Cotter had a goal and an assist and OA had a convincing first round win over visiting Ludlow. The Tigers hit the post twice in the opening 90 seconds of the match, setting the tone for a first half that they dominated. Jenna Gilman, who missed the end of last season with an injury, got the hosts off to a strong start when her cross from the left went off a defender’s leg for the opening goal. The Tigers doubled the lead in the 16th minute. Laney Carroll was able to bring down a clearance from the Ludlow defense, took a touch, and fired a 25-yard shot just under the bar. Cotter would make it 3-0 when she stooped to meet a low cross from Taylor deVos and guided it inside the near post. She would then set up the fourth goal just a minute after the break. Cotter made a run down the left side, getting all the way to the end line, and then cutting it back for Emma Gavin’s powerful first-time hit. While OA had the majority of possession and chances, Janiya Matier was called upon to make a couple of first half saves, including one nice catch on a free kick that looked like it was headed for the corner. OA will face the winner of #16 Stoughton/#17 Marblehead in the next round.

Division 3
#23 Foxboro, 1 @ #10 Dedham, 2 – Final (2 OT) – Dedham scored late in the second half and then scored on a free kick late in double overtime to pull out a win in a thrilling rematch of last year’s Div. 3 state semifinal. Chloe Ostis put the Warriors in front in the first half, finishing off an assist from Erin Foley. Foxboro would hold onto that lead until the final 12 minutes of regulation. Allie Tuohey, Jaclyn Vecchione, Maddy Luck, and Lindsey Resnick played well in defense to limit the chances for the Marauders to test keeper Allie Sougaris. Sougaris did come up with several great saves when called upon. Foley, Grace Riley, Neve Taylor, and Shea Dorney patrolled the midfield for the Warriors, while Ostis and Lauren Miley worked up front to create scoring chances.

#19 Plymouth North, 1 @ #14 Oliver Ames, 2 – Final (OT)

Division 3
#28 Stoneham, 0 @ #5 Foxboro, 5 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. Ella Campbell’s hat trick led the way for the Warriors in a dominating performance to kick off the postseason. Foxboro took a while to get going against the visiting Spartans, but Campbell scored twice in the second quarter to finally give the Warriors a lead that their pressure deserved. A well-worked corner would give Foxboro a 3-0 lead. Mia DiNunzio passed it to Mary Collins at the top of the circle. She moved the ball to her right to Mya Waryas, who let fly with a hard shot through traffic. Kaelin Connors settled it on the end line and played a quick pass across the goal to DiNunzio for the tap in. Foxboro sealed the win in the fourth quarter. Stoneham goalie Gabby Stamps made nearly 20 saves to keep her team in it, but Campbell pounced on a rebound for her third and her team’s fourth. With two minutes to play, a rebound popped out to Collins, who was at the heart of everything for Foxboro, and she coolly slotted a shot into the bottom corner.

Sofia Goclowski had a goal and assisted on an Autumn Simon score that equalized. The Titans scored the winner in the final five minutes.

#42 Diman, 0 @ #23 Foxboro, 8 – Final – Foxboro rolled to a big win over Diman in the playoff opener. Chloe Ostis had two goals, Erin Foley had three assists, and Shea Dorney accounted for four points (one goal and three assists) to lead the Warriors. Grace Riley, Morgan Riley, Makayla Peck, and Neve Taylor also found the back of the net in Foxboro’s biggest win of the season. The Warriors will get a rematch with Dedham, which they played in last year’s state semifinal.

Foxboro, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 5 – Final – Oliver Ames junior Joey Carney and sophomore Casey Milliken each scored a pair of goals as the Tigers finished their league schedule undefeated, closing it out with a 5-0 win over Foxboro. Sophomore Jackson Mercieri notched his first career goal, Milliken and junior Ryan Linhares each had two assists, and sophomore Luke Churchill recorded his sixth assist of the year.

Sharon, 2 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final – Stoughton took the lead with just four minutes to play but Sharon rallied for a pair of goals inside the final three minutes to stun the Black Knights. Junior Kyle Grant broke the stalemate in the 76th minute to put the hosts ahead. A minute late, Miguel Vasconcelos brought the visitors level off of an assist from Tyler Goodman. And less than a minute later, Vasconcelos bagged the game-winner on a feed from Adam Eastman.

North Attleboro, 0 @ Attleboro, 1 – Final – A terrific second half goal from junior Billy Badger was the difference as Attleboro claimed the Leach & Garner Cup. Junior Alex Vecchioli found senior Steve Etienne with a ball up the middle. Etienne sprayed a pass wide, Badger cut into the area and blasted a shot top corner at the far post for the game-winner in the 73rd minute.

Franklin, 2 @ Milford, 3 – Final – After seeing a two-goal lead disappear, Milford found an unlikely game-winner with just minutes to go to earn a season sweep of the Kelley-Rex division champs. Following a scoreless first half, the Hawks built a 2-0 lead, opening the scoring in the 48th minute and doubling it in the 60th minute. Kaua Pereira finished off a corner from Arthur Tome to give the hosts the lead, and a deflected shot from Gabriel Machado — who was making his varsity debut — doubled the advantage. Franklin rallied for a pair of goals, the first coming with 15 minutes to play. A corner from Noah Cain went through a crowd and to the far end of the area where Max Tobin hit it on a half volley back to the opposite post to halve the deficit. With just under nine minutes left, the Panthers cashed in on another Cain corner, this time the ball finding the feet of Will Kryzak and he buried it. With under five minutes to go, Milford’s Andre Baiano smashed a ball from 60 yards out that caught the keeper off the line and bounced in for the game-winner.

Girls Soccer
North Attleboro, 0 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – Alexis Campbell made a save on the final penalty kick to lift the Bombardiers to the Blue-Red Cup title. After a scoreless regulation, the teams went to penalties to decide who would get the cup for the year. Campbell, who was named Most Outstanding Player for Attleboro, came up with a big stop on the final kick to secure a 4-3 shootout win.

Oliver Ames, 2 @ Foxboro, 0 – Final – Mary Cross and Lucinda Li Cotter each found the back of the net to lift the Tigers to the win, which clinched a second straight outright Davenport division title. Cross opened the scoring off a Sophia Byron corner in the first. Cotter doubled the lead in the second half off a feed from Emma Gavin. Foxboro senior Maddie Maher returned from injury to play goal for the Warriors, making several big saves. Neve Taylor and Shea Dorney played well in the Foxboro midfield, covering for Lauren Miley, who was out with an injury, and Erin Foley provided energy up top and in the middle of the pitch.

Milford, 2 @ Franklin, 5 – Final – Anya Zub and Olivia Costa each recorded three points, leading the Panthers to a win that clinches a third straight league title. Franklin finished a point above KP in the Kelley-Rex. Zub and Costa each scored twice and had an assist to pace the Franklin attack. Kelly O’Connor added a goal off an Avery Greco assist. Serena Borges and Dani Atherton (assisted by Borges) scored for the Hawks to put them up 2-0 before Franklin rallied with five straight goals. Milford was only the third team to score more than one goal in a game against Franklin this season.

Taunton, 1 @ King Philip, 3 – Final – King Philip closed out the regular season with a win over Taunton. Kylie Menendez and Brooke Noonan scored first half goals to put the Warriors in front and Ella Pisani finished off a cross from Eilish McGowen 15 minutes into the second half to make it 3-0. Taunton got one back with three minutes to play on a free kick from sophomore Amelia McQuiggan. Eighth grader Ashlyn Hebert had a strong game in goal for the Tigers, making 11 saves. Taunton will close out the season on Friday against New Bedford.

Stoughton, 3 @ Sharon, 3 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. Stoughton battled back from three goals down to secure a point in its regular season finale. Sharon took the lead with 17 minutes left in the first half. Sofia Goclowski played a pass into the run of Autumn Simon, who was able to keep possession under pressure and get the ball back to Goclowski on the edge of the box. The senior midfielder picked the bottom far corner to open the scoring. Sharon doubled the lead when Carly Pinnix made a nice move to open space on the right and dropped a pass behind the back line for Simon to run onto and finish first-time. Stoughton started the second half well, but the Eagles made it 3-0 against the run of play. Off a drop ball, Olivia Soby hit a nice pass out to Pinnix on the left and the senior hit a perfect cross through the box where Simon managed to get enough on it to redirect it inside the far post. Midway through the second half, Emma Tran got one back for the Black Knights with a 25-yard strike that dipped just under the bar. The Black Knights had a goal disallowed for a foul on the keeper and missed from the penalty spot but just kept going. Morgan Cook hit an angled ball to the right wing. Bianca Casna brought it down and then arrowed in a cross to the near post. Shayla Ford, who earlier had a goal disallowed, got in front of her marker and was able to knock the ball just inside the post. Five minutes later, Stoughton completed the comeback. Casna hit a ball in from the right side and, whether it was intended as a shot or not, it flew into the top corner.

Stoughton, 4 @ Foxboro, 3 – Final – Stoughton junior goalie Ben Shirey made a terrific one-handed stop on a point-blank header with just under five minutes to play as the Black Knights prevailed from a see-saw battle with a win on the road over Foxboro. Foxboro opened the scoring in the 11th minute as Pradyu Gubbala finished off a corner kick from John Hollis as the hosts staked an early lead. Stoughton equalized just before the half hour mark as Kyle Grant was fouled in the box and Matheus Groberio buried the pen to make it 1-1. Just minutes later, Groberio pierced the defense with a through ball that Grant was able to run onto and eventually tuck a shot into the corner. The Warriors equalized just before the halftime break when Alex Penders headed in a service from Jack Sullivan. The scoring continued in the second half as the Knights went back in front just a minute into the second half when a free kick from Alex Kozak was flicked on by Groberio in behind the defense and Anthony Damasio finished in alone on the keeper. Penders got his second, latching onto a pass from Timothy Kerzner-Greenwall and finishing at the near post to make it 3-3. Stoughton’s game-winner came in the 54th minute when Joao Marotti buried a header into the corner on a service from Kozak.

Taunton, 0 @ Attleboro, 4 – Final – Attleboro scored a pair of goals in each half to earn a shutout win at home over visiting Taunton. The Bombardiers took the lead just minutes in after Steve Etienne found the back of the net. A long throw from Zachary Diffenderfer was partially cleared by only as far as Lucas Marques, who nodded it back into the mix. Etienne was able to control it off of his chest, turn, and finish from in close for a 1-0 lead. With 10 minutes to go in the first half, Esvin Morales’ free kick from just outside the area smacked the crossbar and bounced out, Marques’ follow up header was denied by the keeper but Billy Badger pounced on the loose ball and buried it to make it 2-0. Taunton had a strong start to the second half but Attleboro cashed in after another failed clearance on a service into the area. This time it was Badger’s corner that bounced in the area and junior Alex Vecchioli was the first to it, burying a half volley for a 3-0 lead. Marques capped the scoring, taking down a centering pass from Morales, driving pass the Tigers’ defense, and finishing past the keeper to make it 4-0.

North Attleboro, 2 @ Franklin, 4 – Final – Franklin saw its two-goal first half lead disappear but the Panthers pounced for two more in the second half to secure two points. It took less than five minutes for Franklin to find the back of the net. Senior Trey Lovell sent a through ball in for junior Hansy Jacques, who was met by the keeper off of his line, and the rebound fell right to sophomore Garrett Scagliarini and he one-timed a shot that just made it across the line for a 1-0 lead. An interception from right back Ben Costa started a counter for Franklin just minutes later; Costa found Scagliarini, who quickly linked up with Andrew O’Neill and he played Hansy in behind the defense. Jacques took one touch to settle and then slid a shot under the oncoming keeper to make it 2-0 in the eighth minute. After a timeout from the visitors, they cut the deficit in half in the 16th minute when Carson Dameron intercept a pass, carried possession forward with speed and found Givany Carney streaking in behind the defense and his one-touch finish beat the keeper. North used a creative set piece in the 60th minute to equalize as Patrick Etienvre played Ethan Almeida short on the ground and his one-timer from just inside the box found the back of the net. Franklin regained the lead with just under 10 minutes to play as Noah Cain played a corner on the ground and Lovell latched onto it with a one-timer that snuck in at the near post. Jacques grabbed his second, running onto a long ball from Matt Honekamp, won a one-on-one battle and finished on a tight angle with five minutes to play.

Milford, 1 @ King Philip, 0 – Final – Milford finally unlocked a defensive-minded King Philip squad with just under 15 minutes to play to earn a key two points on the road with a 1-0 decision. Freshman Johnny Castro played in Eduardo Santana behind the defense and he smashed a shot off the crossbar and in for the lone goal of the game, and his third goal in the past two games.

Mansfield, 0 @ Sharon, 1 – Final – After a scoreless first half, Sharon’s goal just past the midway point of the second half was enough as the Eagles took two points in a win over the visiting Hornets. Diego Martinez set up Adam Eastman, who found the back of the net in the 26th minute for the winner.

Girls Soccer
Attleboro, 3 @ Taunton, 0 – Final – Freshman Tatum O’Brien continued her rich vein of form, scoring twice and assisting on the third goal, to get Attleboro back on track. Alexis Campbell earned the clean sheet with a couple of key saves. Jamie Davies added an assist for the Bombardiers, while Emily Dunlea, Bethany Alves, Ayla Santoro, and Presley Biller did their best to limit the chances for Taunton on a tough, physical game from both teams. Taunton had one of its best performances of the season, celebrating seniors Emily Calderon, Christina Da Costa, and Hayleigh Porter. Porter finished with 12 saves for the Tigers.

Foxboro, 0 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final – Morgan Cook’s penalty kick was the lone goal to lift the Black Knights to the win. Katrina Varnum made eight saves to preserve the clean sheet for Stoughton. Allison Touhey and Lindsey Resnick had strong performances for the Foxboro defense and Erin Foley worked hard in the midfield to try and creat scoring opportunities for the Warriors.

Franklin, 2 @ North Attleboro, 0 – Final – Franklin extended its lead back to three points at the top of the division with a win at North. Norah Anderson got the eventual game-winner, finishing off a pass from Bridget Leo. Leo would then get a goal of her own, assisted by Selene Hammad, to make it 2-0 before the break. Rachel Welch earned the clean sheet in the Franklin goal.

King Philip, 7 @ Milford, 0 – Final – A Heidi Lawrence hat trick led the way for the Warriors in a big road win. Lawrence opened the scoring 16 minutes into the game, finishing a through ball from Dani Lomuscio. Two minutes later, Lomuscio was on the end of a cross from Lawrence to make it 2-0. Lawrence added her second at the midway point of the half, this time assisted by Ally Smith. Ella Pisani wrapped up the scoring in the first half by getting on the end of a deft chip by Addisyn Lamothe-Vaughn. Lawrence completed her hat trick eight minutes into the second half, Lomuscio again providing the killer through ball. Rachel DeFlaminis would add a brace, scoring twice in less than a minute. The first was assisted by Pisani and the second by Eilish McGowen.

Sharon, 0 @ Mansfield, 4 – Final – Mansfield extended its unbeaten run to nine games by scoring four times within 15 minutes midway through the second half. Lyla Nappa, Kara Santos, Stella Moore, and Avery Hawthorne each found the back of the net for the Hornets. Santos, Nappa, Olivia Dunham, and Bridget Hanley had assists.




Field Hockey
Canton, 2 vs. Braintree, 1 – Final – Junior Maggie McCready gave Canton the early lead while freshman Carolyn Schiavo scored the game-winner with less than a minute to play as the Bulldogs took an exciting 2-1 decision over Braintree, a top 10 team in Division 1. McCready’s goal presented Canton with a 1-0 lead before the visiting Wamps leveled the game with a goal in the second quarter. After a nearly scoreless second half, Schiavo found the back of the net with just seconds left to earn the win.

King Philip, 1 @ Uxbridge, 3 – Final – King Philip put up a great right on the road but came up short to undefeated Uxbridge, who sits atop the Division 4 power rankings. Mara Boldy finished off a cross from Leah Santoro for KP’s lone goal while Haley Bright had a great game in net with seven saves.

North Attleboro, 6 @ Milford, 1 – Final – Holding just a one-goal lead at halftime, North Attleboro used a third quarter goal to extend its lead and three goals in the fourth quarter to pull away for good. Caroline Folan, who finished with a hat trick, opened the scoring for the visitors five minutes into the game, finishing off a pass from Emily Burnham off of a corner. Julia Puccio (from Kelsey Thompson) doubled North’s lead at 10:28 of the second quarter but Milford scored with under five minutes to go in the first half to make it 2-1 at the break. Burnham got her first varsity goal with 54 seconds left in the third off of an assist from Ava Spencer. In the fourth, Puccio got her second and Folan scored back-to-back goals in a two-minute span — both assisted by Puccio — to push the lead to 6-1.

Foxboro, 1 @ Sharon, 1 – Final

Franklin, 1 @ Taunton, 0 – Final – Franklin broke a scoreless tie with just over 10 minutes to play to fend off an upset bid from a Taunton side that came to play. Junior Hansy Jacques set up classmate Michael Fernandez-Martin for the lone goal of the game in the 67th minute.

Milford, 2 @ North Attleboro, 2 – Final – North Attleboro scored tying goals just before halftime and again with under five minutes to go to earn a point against visiting Milford. The Scarlet Hawks went ahead first as Eduardo Santana latched onto a through ball from Johnny Castro and snapped Milford’s scoreless skid to make it 1-0. Just before half, a long throw from Jack Regan was played wide by Carson Dameron to Eliude Alcenat at the back post and he buried it to make it 1-1. Santana grabbed his second of the game, this time running onto a through ball from Rodrigo Lourenço to make it 2-1. In the final minutes, Givany Carney played a ball into the area and after it bounced around, Griffen Rodden pounced on it and buried it to make it 2-2.

King Philip, 3 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – Eilish McGowen’s brace powered KP to a big road win, bouncing back after Friday’s loss to Franklin. McGowen opened the scoring after 15 minutes, finishing off an assist from Heidi Lawrence. The junior doubled the lead at the hour mark, this time tapping in after Danielle Gresham’s corner. Addisyn Lamothe-Vaughn wrapped up the scoring with a shot from 30 yards, assisted by Maggie Griffin, with five minutes to play.

Canton, 1 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final – Canton scored a pair of late goals to win the first meeting, but on Tuesday it was Stoughton’s turn to come from behind and get the result. After the Bulldogs took the lead in the 13th minute, the Black Knights were able to tie off a corner routing nine minutes into the second half. Makenzie O’Connor played a short pass to Emma Tran, who was able to find the back of the net and secure a big point.

Sharon, 0 @ Foxboro, 1 – Final – Foxboro scored inside the opening four minutes and carried that goal to a win and a split of the seasons series. Neve Taylor scored the game’s only goal. Erin Foley created the chance with a run to the corner off a throw-in and then an accurate pass to Taylor in the box. Laure Miley and Shea Dorney controlled the midfield for the Warriors, while Lindsey Resnick kept things solid in front of goalie Allie Sougaris. Sharon was shorthanded on Tuesday, including star midfielder Sofia Goclowski, but got strong performances from Claire Baur in defense and from freshman Jessica Li, who helped out in the midfield.

Taunton, 0 @ Franklin, 6 – Final – Franklin maintained its advantage in the Kelley-Rex with a strong win against Taunton. Hailey Baima and Mia Eglintine led the way for the Panthers, each with a goal in both halves. Kelly O’Connor opened the scoring and Bridget Leo added a goal for Franklin.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Milford, 2 – Final – Dani Atherton’s second half goal pushed Milford to a home win. Serena Borges had put Milford ahead in the first half with a penalty kick, but Emma Pratt scored for North in the second half to tie it. Atherton provided the winner with about 20 minutes to play when she fired a 25-yard shot from a tough angle into the top corner. Chloe Murdock had an impressive game in goal for the Hawks.

Boys Cross Country
North Attleboro, 38 @ King Philip, 21 – Final – Nate Sylven (15:55) won his second straight race to lead the Warriors to a big win over North Attleboro. North took second overall but KP had four of the next five runners with Owen McKenzie (17:54) and Max Miller (17:59) taking third and fourth, respectively, and Eliot Davis (18:14) and Ryan Taylor (18:34) crossing sixth and seventh overall.

Girls Cross Country
North Attleboro, 32 @ King Philip, 25 – Final – North Attleboro had two of the top three finishes, including first overall, but King Philip’s depth proved vital in a win at home. Kate Buban (20:04) was KP’s top runner at second overall. Leah Burke (21:27), Rachel Bailer (21:47), and Keira Evans (21:55) finished consecutively from fourth to sixth, and Bridget Sweezey (22:24) rounded out the Warriors’ scoring finishing eighth.

Boys Soccer
Attleboro, 2 @ North Attleboro, 0 – Final

Milford, 2 @ Franklin, 1 – Final – A strong first half resulted in a pair of goals for the visiting Hawks, and that proved to be enough to secure a key two points on the road to pull into a first place tie with Franklin. Nick Ribeiro’s cross found Eduardo Santana for the opening goal of the game, and Milford doubled its lead when John Borges played Jonny Tacuri Castro in to make it 2-0. Milford played the final 20 minutes down a man after a red card, and Franklin cashed in just moments later when Rex Cinelli finished a free kick from Noah Cain, but the visitors were able to play out the rest of the game with the lead. Lucas Fernandes had a strong game, including a massive second half save to preserve the lead.

Taunton, 1 @ King Philip, 2 – Final – King Philip rallied for a pair of second half goals to earn a win on its senior night. The visiting Tigers took the lead in the 12th minute on a penalty kick, and carried the 1-0 advantage into halftime. Just under 10 minutes into the second half, the Warriors pulled level as Matt Crago finished off a feed from Will Bowen on a set piece to make it 1-1. Just minutes later, Colin Dervin set up Bowen for what turned out to be the game-winner. Connor O’Reilly made six saves in net for the win.




Girls Soccer
Canton, 2 @ Mansfield, 2 – Final – Mansfield and Canton split four goals and each team walked away with a point. Mekhala Costello opened the scoring from the penalty spot, after drawing a foul in the box, but Kara Santos equalized for the Hornets off an Olivia Dunham corner. Alexandra Fernandes gave Mansfield the lead off a Meghan McCann assist, but Emily McCabe would score Canton’s second penalty of the game to level the score. Canton keeper Marissa Staffiere made a great save on a blast from Avery Hawthorne in the closing minutes to preserve the draw, and made several crucial stops throughout the afternoon. Canton coach Idris Senyonjo said it was a game that either team could have won and that a draw felt like a fair result in an even match.

Foxboro, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 4 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this match. OA scored three times in the second half, including a pair of Mary Cross goals, to earn its ninth straight win. In a first half with very few chances, Emma Gavin provided a moment of class to put the Tigers in front. Just three minutes before halftime, Gavin pressed the Foxboro defense, stole the ball, and fired a 25-yard shot off the bar and in. Jolie Diaz almost doubled the lead seconds later but Allie Sougaris made a nice save and Jenna Gilman hit the rebound over the bar. One minute after the break, OA grabbed a second. Diaz hit a cross from the right that landed in the six, took a bounce off a defender, and then appeared to go off Gilman’s face and in. Eight minutes later, Sophia Byron’s corner was knocked down in the box by freshman Caroline Bowers and Mary Cross pounced on the loose ball. In the 64th minute, Byron again delivered a great corner that dropped in the box. Cross was on hand to knock in the loose ball for her brace. Erin Foley came closest for the Warriors with a quickly taken free kick that went just over the bar.

Franklin, 3 @ Milford, 0 – Final – Franklin scored late in the first half and added a pair of late goals to pull out the road win. Caitlyn Bruno opened the scoring with three minutes left in the first half, from a Chloe Stavely assist. Olivia Costa had a brace in the second half for the Panthers. Anya Zub and Bridget Leo had the assists. Rachel Welch and Hailey Aniki combined for six saves and a clean sheet. Milford coach Lou Colabello praised his team’s performance against one of the league’s elite, taking a lot of positives from the game. He noted the play of freshman Kaleigh Tourtelot, who impressed in only her third varsity game in goal.

King Philip, 6 @ Taunton, 0 – Final – Heidi Lawrence and Makayla Thompson each scored twice to lead the Warriors to a big road win. Lawrence opened the scoring 13 minutes into the game, finishing off a diagonal pass from Ella Pisani. Thompson scored three minutes later on a corner from Danielle Gresham. Dani Lomuscio made it 3-0, taking a pass from Gresham and finding the net from 20 yards. Ilah Weiblen scored her first varsity goal with 15 minutes to go before the break. Kylie Menendez had the assist on the fourth goal. Lawrence got her second, again from Pisani, seven minutes after halftime and Thompson added a second goal from a corner, this time after a short pass from Addisyn Lamothe-Vaughn.

Oliver Ames, 3 vs. Bridgewater-Raynham, 0 – Final – Oliver Ames picked up its third win of the week, sweeping visiting Bridgewater-Raynham in straight sets, 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-20). Junior Rachel Fleischman gave the Tigers a big boost with a strong defensive effort (12 digs) while adding three aces. Sophomore Clare Kavoulis dished out 34 assists in the win with Sarah Hilliard (14 kills) leading the offense. Maddie Homer added 30 digs and sophomore Ava Barth added 10 digs and four aces.

King Philip, 3 vs. Medway, 0 – Final – King Philip made is nine in a row, defending home court against non-league foe Medway with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-12) win. Ahunna James had a strong all-around game with eight digs, seven kills, and four aces, both Emily Sawyer (seven kills) and Sami Shore (six kills) played well at the net, and junior Ava Kelley chipped in with six digs.

Stoughton, 1 @ Canton, 3 – Final – The Bulldogs secured their second win of the week, pulling out a close win in the fourth set to fend off a feisty Stoughton squad, 3-1 (25-18, 25-18, 21-25, 28-26). Jess Wright had a big day for the hosts, recording 17 kills to pace the offense while Sally Hoban added nine kills for the Bulldogs. Zoe Scibelli continued to anchor the Canton defense with 25 digs and added three aces. Charlotte Clyve gave the Bulldogs a big boost off the bench with a few big kills.

Oliver Ames, 171 @ Foxboro, 173 – Final – Oliver Ames tackled the tough course at Foxboro Country Club and a strong Foxboro squad to grab a close 171-173 win, clinching at least a share of the Davenport division title, the program’s first division title since 2018 and first Davenport crown since 2015. Junior Sean Kearns fired a 39 to lead the Tigers, sharing medalist honors with Foxboro’s Patrick Callahan (five pars, one birdie). David Rodgers added a 42, Daniel Paul chipped in with a 44, and Braden Shapiro capped his strong week with a 46. Reese Curreri and Louis Carangelo each shot a 44 and Mat Sullivan finished at 46 for the Warriors. Oliver Ames travels to Mansfield on Tuesday with a chance to clinch the division title outright with a win.
