Attleboro, 1 @ King Philip 2 – FinalKing Philip senior Cole Breen completed his brace by scoring the game-winning goal in the 76th minute as the Warriors earned two points on Senior Night. Breen opened the scoring in the 17th minute when he tucked away a rebound chance after Evan McEvoy saw his shot smack off the crossbar. Attleboro sophomore Esvin Morales brought the visitors level in the 64th minute, scoring on a free kick from the top of the box. But Breen grabbed his second with under five minutes to play, finishing off a cross from Ajae Olsen. Aidan Lindmark made seven saves in net for KP.

Foxboro, 1 @ North Attleboro, 0 – FinalFoxboro senior Matt Angelini scored midway through the first quarter and that ended up holding up the rest of the way to give the Warriors a win on the road. Derek Axon had the shutout for Foxboro, making a pair of great saves in the second half to keep North off the board and preserve the win.

Franklin, 0 @ Mansfield, 2 – FinalMansfield scored just minutes into the second quarter and added an insurance tally with less than five minutes to play to earn a win over visiting Franklin. Tommy Lanzillo (from Ethan Scholes) scored on an indirect set piece on a shot from 25 yards out to put the hosts ahead in the 23rd minute. With just under five minutes to go, junior Matt Hyland sealed the win finishing off a flick from Colin True after the original service from Dan Rowe. Eric Sullivan and Jack Lansbury-Casey combined for the shutout, each making an outstanding save to preserve the shutout. Mansfield defender Evan Eames had a big stop to deny a goal in the second half as well.

King Philip, 2 @ Attleboro, 1 – Final

North Attleboro, 0 @ Foxboro, 1 – FinalClick here for a Photo Gallery from this game. Jordyn Collins got the slightest touch on an Aislinn Servaes cross from a corner and it was just enough to slip past the onrushing keeper for the game’s only goal. With the win, unbeaten Foxboro moved within one point of league-leading Canton.

Mansfield, 1 @ Franklin, 0 – FinalCarly Devine scored the game’s only goal to power Mansfield to a rivalry win, handing Franklin its first loss of the season. The goal came off a fourth quarter counter attack. Tarynn Smith’s first shot was saved by Rachel Welch but Devine followed up and knocked in the rebound for the game-winner, giving the Hornets the edge in an evenly-played match.

Sharon, 5 @ Stoughton, 0 – FinalWendy Wooden had a hat trick and Sofia Goclowski added a brace to lead the Eagles to their first win of the season. Cass Barbera recorded the clean sheet.

Golf
Mansfield, 233 @ Franklin, 235 – Final (6 cards)The battle between the top two teams in the Kelley-Rex certainly lived up to the hype, tied through both four and five cards before the Hornets prevailed on the sixth card to clinch at least a share of the division title. Mansfield’s Brian See and Nate Morreale each shot a team-low round of 36 to pace the visitors while Ryan Dow and Jason See each shot 39 in the win. Joe Gormley added a 41 to force it to a sixth card where Ryan Doherty and Cian Goulet helped earn the win, each shooting a 42. For Franklin, Nolan Norton was the match medalist with an even par round of 35. Jack paterson and Pat Dolan each shot 38 for the Panthers, Brian Sandham chipped in with a 39 and Jack Hagerty shot a 41 for the hosts.

Friday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 10/09/20

Boys Soccer
Mansfield, 0 @ King Philip, 1 – FinalAfter Mansfield earned a win in the first meeting this week with a late goal, King Philip returned the favor with a late-winner on Friday. After a scoreless 60 minutes of action, King Philip’s Matt Crago played a ball in for Alex Leon, who drew a foul a couple of yards outside the box. Senior Ajae Olsen deposited the free kick into the back of the net with just over 10 minutes left. KP head coach Mike O’Neill commended the play of keeper Aidan Lindmark for his control of the box, Evan McEvoy for a dominant performance in the midfield, and Colin Wesley for being “a rock in the center of the defense.” Mansfield coach Steve Sheridan noted his defense played well as well as a strong performance in net from Eric Sullivan.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Oliver Ames, 1 – FinalNorth Attleboro took the lead with a goal in the first half but the hosts found the equalizer early in the second as the teams split the points for the second time this week. Clara Giuliano put the Rocketeers ahead in the second quarter off an assist from Tess Collins. Lauren Sellmayer equalized for the Tigers with a goal in the third quarter. OA head coach Britt Sellmayer praised the play of Madeleine Taylor and Allison Evin while North Attleboro head coach Bill Wallace noted strong performances from Kaylah Seavey (16 saves), the defense of Summer Doherty, Katie Manning, and Jordyn Sullivan, and the performance from midfielders Lydia Santos and Ari Rice.

Stoughton, 1 @ Canton, 8 – FinalEliza Diletizia recorded a hat trick, as Canton scored eight goals for the second time this week. Gabriella Herivaux also had three points on a goal and two assists, while Sarai Costello (goal and an assist), Mia Gilmore (two assists), and Emily McCabe (two assists) had two points apiece. Alex Lopez, Han Hong, and Olivia Rodman also had goals for the Bulldogs. Mackenzie Manning had Stoughton’s goal, her second of the season, after a great individual play and following up her initial shot. Despite the loss, Stoughton coach Hermes Lima saw improvements from his team, but felt the team let up at the end of the first and second quarters and Canton took advantage. He praised Manning’s play in the attack and the defending of Nikki Anderson.

King Philip, 3 @ Attleboro, 2 – FinalKing Philip built a 3-1 lead by halftime but had to hold off a furious comeback attempt from the Bombardiers to get the win. Senior Owen Teixeira got the Warriors on the board in the 20th minute, Ajae Olsen scored just a minute later, and Andrew Robinson scored his first of the season in the 32nd minute. KP keeper Aidan Lindmark had a big second half, making two spectacular saves to keep the Warriors ahead. Grant Orzell also made a big save for KP in the first half. Michael Russo and Nathan LaPlume scored for Attleboro.

Milford, 1 @ North Attleboro, 0 – FinalClick here for a recap and photo gallery of this game.

Golf
Canton, 161 @ Sharon, 169 – FinalCanton sophomore Mike Leonetti fired a team-low round of 39 while Chris Lavoie and Andrew Middleton each carded rounds of 40 to help the Bulldogs pick up a key division win over Sharon. Conor Hunter added a 42 in the win. Sharon’s Ethan Skelly earned match medalist honors with a 38, and Eric Carter chipped in with a 43 for the Eagles.

King Philip, 153 @ Attleboro, 157 – Final

Mansfield, 166 @ Franklin, 156 – FinalFranklin had three golfers finish under 40 to pick up a big division win over previously unbeaten Mansfield. Brian Sandham earned match medalist honors, shooting a low round of 38 while both Jack Paterson and Quinten Faro finished at 39 for the Panthers. Nolan Norton chipped in with a 40 for Franklin. Mike O’Neil led the Hornets with a 40, Jason See finished with a 41, and Nate Morreale added a 42.

North Attleboro, 160 @ Stoughton, 178 – FinalNorth Attleboro’s Jillian Barend finished at an even par 36 at Easton Country Club, helping the Rocketeers pick up a win on the road. Jake Gaskin added a 38 for the Rocketeers while Patrick Smith (42) and Max Huminik (43) led Stoughton.

King Philip, 4 @ Sharon, 0 – Final King Philip scored twice in the final five minutes of the first half and then twice more in the final 10 minutes of the game to earn a win on the road over Sharon. Wes Orzell scored the game-winner, putting KP ahead 1-0 with an unassisted strike in the 39th minute. Three minutes later, Orzell set up senior Brian McCarthy to make it 2-0 just before half. In the 71st, Cam Lawrence deposited a free kick (earned by Evan McEvoy) into the net for a 3-0 advantage. Stephen Griffin added a fourth (assisted by McEvoy) in the final minute. Aidan Lindmark and Grant Orzell combined for the shutout in net for KP.

Field Hockey
Attleboro, 0 @ Canton, 3 – FinalLocked in a one-goal game, Canton freshman Ellie Bohane scored her first two varsity goals inside the final five minutes to secure the win for the Bulldogs. Meg Aldrich put Canton up 1-0 off a corner with 10 minutes left in the first half but the Bulldogs couldn’t solve Attleboro goalie Ava Haggerty (22 saves) until Bohane’s tally with four minutes to go.

Mansfield, 1 @ Foxboro, 1 – FinalClick here for a photo gallery from this gameFoxboro sophomore Kate Collins scored with five seconds left in the game to salvage a point for the Warriors in their season opener against Mansfield. Collins scored off a corner with Molly McElhinney and Ella Waryas factoring in before Collins got the final touch. Stori Rounds put Mansfield up with just under five minutes to play in the first half while Kayla Hunter made six saves for the Hornets.

Franklin, 13 @ Milford, 0 – FinalAmanda Lewandowski and Leila Frankina each scored twice in the first half as Franklin rolled to a win to start the season. Lewandowski finished with three points, including an assist on Elizabeth Clark’s first varsity goal. Neilee Hess earned the shutout for Franklin. Paige Reisman had 20 saves in net for the Hawks.

King Philip, 3 @ Sharon, 1 – Final

Oliver Ames, 6 @ Stoughton, 1 – FinalAfter a scoreless first half, Oliver Ames scored five minutes into the second half and tacked on five more to record a win on the road at Stoughton. Cassie Gennis and Georgia Costello (assist) each scored twice for the Tigers while Sofia Anestam and Hannah Stryke (assist) each found the back of the net once for the Tigers. Haley Nelson scored for Stoughton while Kayla Laboy had an outstanding game in net, making 10 saves.

Taunton, 3 @ North Attleboro, 1 – FinalTaunton went on the road and picked up a win in the season opener at North Attleboro. Kennedy Thielker scored twice for the Tigers, both assisted by Kat Robinson, while Alana Tavares added an unassisted tally. Emily Gannon made five saves in net for the win. Jocelyn Pagliuca and Kathryn Baptiste also had strong games for Taunton.




Volleyball
Attleboro, 0 @ Canton, 3 – FinalCanton opened the season with a 3-0 sweep (25-16, 25-19, 25-16) to give head coach Pat Cawley her 200th victory with the Bulldogs. Senior Taylor Harris led the offense with 15 kills while adding 12 digs and three aces in the win. Angie Elias also had a strong day with seven digs, six kills, and a pair of aces, Liz Bickett added four kills and 11 digs and Nikki Desjardins had a solid defensive showing. Attleboro junior Ana Leonardo dished out 11 assists and sophomore Delia Barthel had three kills and two blocks.

Mansfield, 3 @ Foxboro, 1 – FinalMansfield started the 2019 campaign with a 3-1 (25-11, 25-22, 23-25, 25-21) win on the road over Foxboro. Sam Sternburg paced the Hornets’ defense with 20 digs and added 12 service points while Olivia McGrath had 11 kills and Emily Dardinski added seven kills. Foxboro had a strong defensive game to keep the match close, with Pam Nelson (10 digs), Grace Fortune (nine digs), Sara Addeche (nine digs) and Kelsey Treweek (six digs) leading the way.

Franklin, 1 @ Milford, 3 – FinalMilford bounced back from dropping the first set to secure a 3-1 (24-26, 26-24, 25-20, 25-21) win at home against Franklin. Julia Riordan paced the Hawks offense, dishing out 28 assists. Lauren Corsini had a strong game in the middle with 11 kills and six blocks, Alyssa Williamson added six kills, and Sarah Brogioli anchored the defense with 15 digs.

King Philip, 3 @ Sharon, 0 – FinalKing Philip went on the road and picked up a win in its first game of the season, 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-13) over Sharon. Middles Catherine Waldeck (nine kills, three blocks) and Nicole Coughlan (nine kills, two aces) both had strong games for the Warriors, Kristen Masse added four kills, four digs, and three aces, and Emma Brooks chipped in with six digs and four aces.

Taunton, 0 @ North Attleboro, 3 – FinalNorth Attleboro defended home court with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-18) win over visiting Taunton. Haley Gaskin dished out 22 assists to pace the Rocketeers with Kylie Melanson (six kills) and Joanna Collins-Bilyeu (five kills) leading the offense. Alyssa Turcotte had five kills and a block for the Tigers while Sonya Fernandez added four kills and a pair of aces.

Oliver Ames, 3 @ Stoughton, 0 – FinalOliver Ames senior Allie Kemp dished out 27 assists to lead the Tigers to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-16) win over Stoughton. Kemp moved within two assists of the 1,000 mark. Junior Caroline Flynn added 10 kills while senior Ryley McNeeley added eight kills and five aces. OA senior Alison Barth had a strong game defensively with 21 digs, 23 serve receptions, and a pair of aces.

Golf
Oliver Ames, 151 @ Attleboro, 164 – Final – Oliver Ames bounced back with a win on the road over Attleboro at Stone-E-Lea. Sam Becker paced the Tigers with a medalist round of 35 while Brad Powers (38), Justin Shapiro (39), and Jo Jo Gaultier (39) all shot under 40 for Oliver Ames.

Stoughton, 194 @ North Attleboro, 156 – FinalNorth Attleboro’s Jillian Barend shot a one-under round of 34 at the middle course at Heather Hill to pace the Rocketeers to a win. Jake Gaskin added a round of 39, Aidan Weir carded a 40, and Brett Dusel and Sam Gallagher each finished at 43. Max Huminik led Stoughton with a round of 46.

Franklin, 158 vs. Nipmuc, 173 – FinalJack Paterson led the way for the Panthers with a team-low round of 38 while Quinten Faro was right behind him with a round of 39.
