Boys Basketball
North Attleboro, 58 vs. Bishop Feehan, 37 – Final North Attleboro limited Bishop Feehan to just 15 points in the opening half, building a 32-15 lead by the break and never looked back. The Rocketeers pounded the paint, using their size to their advantage, connecting on 26 two-point field goals. Jake Petersen had a team-high 14 points for North while Josh Montague added 10 points, sophomore George Ladd finished with nine points, and Nate Gonsalves chipped in seven points.

Taunton 72 vs. New Bedford, 66 – FinalNew Bedford raced out to a 24-14 lead after the first quarter, and had the lead up to as much as 15 before Taunton closed the gap with a big second quarter. Senior Lou Vendrell scored nine of his 11 points in the second quarter on three triples to help the Tigers cut the deficit to just two, 31-29, at halftime. Senior Mike Quinn scored 15 of his team-high 17 points in the second half, Wesner Charles added 14 points, and John Martins scored all 10 of his points in the second half to help the Tigers earn the win.

Girls Basketball
Canton, 57 @ Weymouth, 48 – FinalCanton got strong games from three of its freshmen to win on the road at Weymouth (where the Bulldogs clinched a playoff spot last season). Kiara Cerruti led the way for the Bulldogs with 19 points, including 6-of-8 at the line. Sydney Gallery scored 12 and her sister Fay chipped in with 11 points. Canton coach Jim Choquette credited the team’s defensive pressure and its transition game for the win, which moved the Bulldogs back to .500 on the season.

Foxboro, 54 vs. Walpole, 40 – FinalThe Warriors won a second non-league game in a row to stay unbeaten on the season. Katelyn Mollica was the top scorer for Foxboro with 14 points and the Warriors also got strong games from Yara Fawaz and Chelsea Gibbons, who each scored 13 points.

Milford, 19 @ Norwood, 61 – Final

North Attleboro, 61 @ Weston, 42 – FinalNorth went on the road and earned its first win of the season. Julia Feid scored 20 points to pace the Rocketeers and Eliza Dion added 12 points in the victory.

Sharon, 43 vs. Holliston, 49 – FinalThe Eagles stormed back into the game in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough to catch Holliston. Kaitlyn Wallace had 12 points, Evanjuline Elisma had 11, and Telishya Herbert had eight in the loss.

Boys Hockey
Attleboro, 0 @ Canton, 9 – FinalCanton senior Ryan Nolte scored a hat trick and six other players found the back of the net as the Bulldogs opened league play with an impressive win over Attleboro.

King Philip, 2 @ Foxboro, 1 – FinalKing Philip dominated in shots but had to kill five penalties and needed a late third period goal to earn a win over Foxboro. The Warriors, who had a 36-9 advantage in shots, went ahead in the first period on a goal from Jack Coulter, assisted by Luke D’Amico. Foxboro tied the game on a tally from Brendan Tully (unassisted) with 2:23 to go in the second period. KP sophomore Rocco Bianculli scored the game-winner on a feed from senior Brendan Shandley and junior Chris Daniels. with 2:36 to play. Foxboro had a power play over the final 1:39 but the Warriors’ best chance hit the post in the final moments and stayed out.

Girls Hockey
Franklin, 3 @ Canton, 2 – FinalClick here for a photo gallery from this game. – Franklin senior Regan Paterson scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to pace the Panthers to a key road win. Paterson opened the scoring just 53 seconds into the game, using a self pass off the boards to beat the defense and then finished with a nice shot. Franklin made it 2-0 with a power play goal with 3:10 left in the first. Tina Pisano played the puck behind the net, Paterson collected it, and found Jordan Dwyer open in front for a goal. Canton got on the board with 1:10 left in the second period as Leah McClellan found Katie Trerice, and her shot from just inside the blue line found its way through traffic and into the net. Franklin responded with a power play goal early in the third. Pisano found Cassi Ronan streaking into the area and she connected with Paterson right in front. Lauren Fitzpatrick scored with 1:18 on the power play to bring the Bulldogs within one. Gabby Colace made 33 saves in the win for Franklin.

King Philip, 1 vs. Dennis-Yarmouth, 3 – Final

Wrestling
Sharon, 37 @ Canton, 26 – FinalClick here for a Photo Gallery from this dual meet. – Sharon’s Vinay Chinnam (126) and Tyler Cashton (152) earned pinfall victories and the Eagles got 18 points from forfeits to earn a win over Canton. Huguens Pierre (138) and Max Pozner (145) also had wins for the Eagles. Canton’s Zach Peters (106, dec.), Jack Turano (113, pin), Mark Carstairs (120, dec.), Harry Carter (152, pin), Jordan Neundorf (160, dec.), and Cole Murphy (170, dec.) had wins for the Bulldogs.

Taunton, 24 @ King Philip, 53 – FinalSix Warriors won by pinfall and two more won by decision as King Philip picked up a win over Taunton. Conor Harrington (106), Michael Gorman (113), Sam DeBaggis (126), Jackson Kelley (138), Sean O’Brien (170), and Shawn Conniff (195) all won by pin for KP while Mohammad Lofti (145, 16-0) and Luke Fitch (182, 4-0) each won by decision without giving up a point. Taunton’s Tyler Lima (120, pin), Christian Balmain (152, dec.), Candido Santos (160, dec.), and Woudanly Danger (285, pin) picked up wins.

Mansfield, 33 @ Melrose, 39 – Final

Boys Swimming
Oliver Ames, 74 @ Franklin, 93 – FinalJunior Chris Carey took first in the 100 free and junior Pat Juszczyszyn won the 500 free to pace the Panthers to a win.

Girls Swimming
Oliver Ames, 93 @ Franklin, 74 – FinalFranklin senior Katie Cashin was a double winner, taking first in both the 100 free and 20 free.

Gymnastics
Oliver Ames, 130.4 @ Canton, 102.75 – Final Oliver Ames picked up its third straight win to begin the season, with junior Lauren Picanzi capturing his third straight first place finish in the All Around. Picanzi scored a 33.7 while OA sophomore Ashlyn Latham was second with a 32.8. Latham had a meet-best 9.0 on the vault.

Boys Basketball
Attleboro, 48 @ Durfee, 44 – FinalHolding a three-point lead with just over a minute to go, Attleboro junior Tim Callahan (12 points) hit a three pointer to give the Bombardiers a bit of a cushion. The Hilltoppers got within three with just under a minute to go but Bryant Ciccio (14 points) and Mason Houle (11 points) each hit a pair of free throws down the stretch to earn the win. Attleboro held a 38-20 advantage on the boards with Lorenzo Wilson (nine rebounds) leading the way.

Foxboro, 48 vs. Bishop Feehan, 36 – FinalFoxboro overcame a five-point halftime deficit, limiting the Shamrocks to just 13 points in the entire second half. Feehan led 23-18 at the break but Foxboro put up 20 points in the third and took a 38-31 lead into the fourth quarter. Foxboro junior Brandon Borde scored 13 of his team-high 19 points in the second half while junior Will Morrison added 11 points for the Warriors.

Franklin, 73 @ Catholic Memorial, 78 – FinalFranklin led 40-39 at halftime, and took a 59-55 lead into the final frame but Catholic Memorial was able to take the lead midway through. Trailing 72-64 with three minutes to go, the Panthers got within two, and then within one when Jalen Samuels (17 points) hit a three with 9.3 seconds left. But the Knights hit two free throws and thwarted a last bid from the Panthers. Junior Chris Edgehill had a team-high 27 points for the Panthers.

Mansfield, 73 @ BC High, 51 – FinalMansfield built a 10-point lead by halftime but doubled the advantage with a big third quarter in a win over BC High. The Hornets led 35-25 at half and then outscored the Eagles 20-9 in the third to pull away. Senior Damani Scott had a team-high 18 points for Mansfield while Tommy Dooling added 17 points and junior Sam Stevens finished with 14 points.

Milford, 59 vs. Westboro, 74 – FinalMilford trailed by just four at halftime, down 36-32, but Westboro outscored the Hawks 20-10 in the third quarter to create a double digit lead that it didn’t relinquish the rest of the way. Danny Corsini poured in a career-high 26 points for the Hawks, including 16 in the second quarter. Brendon Sailer and Jordan Darling each added nine points for the Hawks.

Stoughton, 64 @ Archbishop Williams, 58 – FinalStoughton outscored the Bishops 17-8 in the second quarter to build a double-digit lead by halftime, up 30-18. The Black Knights extended the advantage to 48-32 after three quarters and then withstood a strong fourth quarter from Archies to get the win. Junior Ajahn Rue poured in a career-high 22 points to pace Stoughton.

North Attleboro, 37 @ Bishop Feehan, 57 – FinalNorth had a lead at halftime, but the Shamrocks stormed back into the game in the second half and North coach Derek Herber said that the Rocketeers struggled to keep the offense going. Julia Feid was North’s top scorer with 14 points.

Stoughton, 42 vs. Brockton, 65 – FinalAliyah Wright paced the Black Knights with a team-high 21 points.

Wrestling
Oliver Ames Quad – Foxboro went 3-0 on the day, beating BC High 41-31, Oliver Ames 41-27, and Plymouth North 57-14. Adam Lanctot, Tommy Gallagher, Mike Sheehan, and William Ogbebor all went undefeated for the Warriors.

Boys Swimming
Canton, 62 @ Franklin, 102 – Final

King Philip, 88 @ Foxboro, 51 – FinalFoxboro’s Dimitri Davis took first in the backstroke in a time of 1:21.

Mansfield, 56 @ Sharon, 95 – Final

King Philip, 96 @ Foxboro, 68 – FinalFoxboro’s 200 relay team of Sarah Egan, Pam Nelson, Lindsey Nelson, and Gina Ouellette took first in a time of 1:58.

Mansfield, 65 @ Sharon, 106 – FinalSharon’s Cleo Zhou qualified for sectionals with the time of 01:07.60 in the 100 backstroke while Shruthi Kaveti, Procheta Gosh, Jyaleen Wu, and Muskan Kumar qualified for sectionals in the 200 free relay with a time of 01:53.28.

Canton, 55 @ Attleboro, 59 – FinalAttleboro built a 12-point lead by halftime but Canton chipped away in the second half, making it a one-point game late in the fourth quarter. Bombardiers junior Bryant Cicco (17 points) answered with a layup with less than a minute to play to extend the lead to 58-55 and junior Qualeem Charles (13 points) hit a free throw in the final moments to ice the win for Attleboro. Mason Houle added 13 points and Tim Callahan chipped in with 11 points with three three-pointers for Attleboro. Canton senior Devin Foster scored a game-high 27 points, including 16 in the second half, to help the Bulldogs get back in the game. Robbie Gallery added 11 points for Canton.

Milford, 29 @ Franklin, 64 – FinalAfter a slow first quarter for both teams (8-4 Panthers), Franklin built a 25-12 lead at halftime and kept that lead the rest of the way in a win over Milford. Franklin junior Chris Edgehill scored 17 of his game-high 25 points in the second half to keep the Panthers ahead while Jalen Samuels chipped in with 12 points. Franklin had five players score in a 17-point second quarter that helped create the separation. Senior Brendan White led the Hawks with 15 points.

North Attleboro, 48 @ Taunton, 73 – FinalTaunton had a strong start to both the first and third quarters to earn a win over visiting North Attleboro. The Tigers put up 26 points in the opening quarter with six players scoring a field goal, and took a 43-29 lead at halftime. Taunton opened the second half with an 11-2 run and never looked back. Tigers junior Dante Law scored 11 of his game-high 21 points in the third quarter to help Taunton pull away. Naz Kenion (12 points), Lou Vendrell (11 points), and John Martins (10 points) all scored in double-figures for Taunton. North Attleboro’s Josh Montague had a team-high 15 points, Nate Gonsalves added 13 points and sophomore George Ladd recorded 10 points in his varsity debut.

Stoughton, 39 @ Oliver Ames, 57 – FinalHolding a three-point lead at the break (25-22), Oliver Ames had a big third quarter to pull away from visiting Stoughton. The Tigers limited the Black Knights to just two points in the third quarter while scoring 15 points to take a 40-24 lead into the final quarter. Oliver Ames senior Ethan Eckstrom scored half of his career-high 16 points in the third quarter while Sean O’Brien and Jake Erlich each added 10 points in the win. Stoughton junior Myles Grigalunas-Powell scored a team-high 11 points for the Black Knights.

Girls Basketball
Attleboro, 39 @ Canton, 53 – FinalFreshman Kiara Cerruti scored 20 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and had five assists on her varsity debut and classmate Fay Gallery had 16 points on four three-pointers in her first varsity action to lead the Bulldogs to a season opening win.

Mansfield, 50 @ Foxboro, 59 – FinalKatelyn Mollica led the way for the Warriors with 21 points, including four three-pointers and 9-of-10 shooting at the free throw line. Yara Fawaz and Abby Hassman each scored eight points and Chelsea Gibbons pulled down 12 rebounds in the win. Maggie Danehy scored 11 points and Mady Bendanillo had 10 for the Hornets in the loss.

Franklin, 61 @ Milford, 20 – FinalFranklin jumped out in front early, leading 41-12 at halftime, and never looked back in both teams’ season opener. Ali Brigham scored 29 for the Panthers, who also got 10 points from Bea Bondhus and eight points from freshman Olivia Quinn in her varsity debut. Jillian Michelson scored seven points and Emma Lawrence had six for the Hawks.

King Philip, 49 @ Sharon, 39 – FinalShannon O’Connor scored 15 points for the Warriors in the season opener, despite sitting for a portion of the second half. Faith Roy added 13 points in the win and KP coach Amy Siggens praised Emma Glaser for her effort on the glass (nine rebounds) and on the defensive end.

North Attleboro, 41 @ Taunton, 44 – FinalTaunton got balanced scoring to earn the win in the leaguer opener for both teams. Lily Patneaude scored 13 points and grabbed six boards for the Tigers, while Kelsey White added 12 points and snatched eight steals. Sonya Fernandez had nine points and 10 boards, Jaelyn Fernandez had three points and 15 boards, and Alex White had seven points and five assists for Taunton. Julia Feid was the top scorer for the Rocketeers with 19 points.

Girls Swimming
Sharon, 80 @ Attleboro, 89 – FinalAttleboro’s Liz Salts qualified for states in a pair of events to help the Bombarders open the season with a victory. Salts qualified for states in both the 100 free and 200 free while Jackie Lynch-Bartek qualified for sectionals in the 100 breaststroke. The Bombardiers’ 200 free relay also qualified for states.
