#KR2 Mansfield, 0 @ #D1 Oliver Ames, 3 – FinalOliver Ames scored once in each of the first two quarters and tacked on a fourth quarter insurance goal to secure a 3-0 win over Mansfield and advance to the Hockomock Cup final. Matt Nikiciuk blasted a free kick through traffic in the first to put Oliver Ames ahead. Anthony DaCosta doubled the lead for the Tigers, running onto a perfectly weighted through ball from Kevin Louhis and one-timing a shot into the net. Mathias Taylor iced the game, running onto a long ball from Hector Bucio and using his speed to race past the defense and finish to the far post. Bucio, Nikiciuk, Brady deVos, Jimmy Keane, and Ben Cohen played strong defense for the Tigers to limit the Hornets. Oliver Ames will take on Kelley-Rex division champion Milford in the Hockomock Cup final.

#D2 Canton, 0 @ #KR1 Milford, 5 – FinalReigning Hockomock League MVP Leo Coelho netted a first half hat trick to pace the unbeaten Scarlet Hawks past Canton and into the Hockomock Cup final. Lucas Da Silva (from Arthur Tome) and Coelho (from Da Silva) scored first quarter goals as the Hawks took a 2-0 lead through 20 minutes. Coelho converted a penalty kick, and then completed his hat trick on an another assist from Da Silva as Milford carried a 4-0 lead into halftime. Coelho then set up Eduardo Castro for a third quarter goal. Milford will take on Davenport division champion Oliver Ames in the Hockomock Cup final.

Consolation Rounds
North Attleboro, 1 @ Attleboro, 2 – FinalNorth Attleboro scored first but the hosts equalized less than a minute later and then found the winner in the fourth quarter to claim the Leach and Garner Cup. Connor Ward’s cross was tapped home by Eddy Mendoza to give North a first quarter lead but the Bombardiers equalized right off the kick off when Jackson Singer played Ben Fasoldt in behind the defense and the senior captain finished into the back of the net. In the fourth quarter, Justin Lurrsen laid off a pass for Emilio Ticas and the junior blasted a shot in the far corner for the game-winner in the 63rd minute.

Girls Soccer
Hockomock Cup

#D4 North Attleboro, 0 @ #KR3 King Philip, 1 – FinalJenny Montville scored six minutes into the third quarter and it proved to be enough for the Warriors to pull out the win. Montville ran onto a ball over the top by Ella Pisani and was able to lift it over the keeper for the game-winner.

Field Hockey
Hockomock Cup

#KR3 Attleboro, 1 @ #KR1 Franklin, 6 – FinalFranklin scored four unanswered second half goals to pull away from the upset-minded Bombardiers to secure its spot in the Hockomock Cup final. The Panthers pounced early as Amanda Lewandowski scored twice, unassisted at 3:04 and from Kaitlyn Carney at 8:47, to take a 2-0 lead after one quarter of play but Attleboro’s Madison Ellis cut the deficit in halftime with a second quarter goal. In the third, Stephanie Bell scored back-to-back goals to push the Panthers’ lead to 4-1, and Sara Carney and Jill Fenerty added fourth quarter goals to seal the win. Neilee Hess made six saves in net for the win. Franklin will host King Philip in the Hockomock Cup final on Tuesday at 4:00.

#KR2 King Philip, 1 @ #D1 Oliver Ames, 0 – FinalKing Philip scored the lone goal of the game midway through the fourth quarter to emerge victorious in a well-played game against Oliver Ames. A quick restart from Alli Beltramini found Grace Crocker, who was able to get past a defender and then raced from midfield, past an OA defender, and slid a low shot past the sliding keeper to put the Warriors in front. KP head coach Lisa Cropper praised Beltramini and Morgan Cunningham for their stellar defensive effort in front of Makenzie Manning (11 saves). King Philip will travel to Franklin in the Hockomock Cup final on Tuesday at 4:00.

Consolation Rounds
North Attleboro, 1 @ Canton, 2 – FinalMaria Femia and Audrey Koen each scored once as the Bulldogs finished the season with a 2-1 win over North Attleboro.

King Philip, 0 @ Attleboro, 0 – FinalClick here for a Photo Gallery from this game.King Philip goalie Makenzie Manning and Attleboro keeper Ava Haggerty both stood tall in net, denying any and all chances as the Warriors and Bombardiers battled to a scoreless draw. Both Manning and Haggerty finished with 13 saves apiece in the tie. KP senior Alli Beltramini hand a standout game defensively while the Warriors also had strong showings from Morgan Cunningham, Lauren Barreiro, Kayla O’Brien, and Kelly Holmes. Abby Nixon, Grace Crocker, and Isabelle Crocker created several scoring chances for the Warriors but couldn’t solve Haggerty.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Foxboro, 5 – Final

Mansfield, 0 @ Franklin, 7 – FinalFranklin poured in five goals in the first half and never looked back in a win over visiting Mansfield. Both Amanda Lewandowski and Kaitlyn Carney scored a hat trick in the Panthers’ win, each scoring twice in the first half and adding third quarter goals as well. Stephanie Bell (from Sara Carney) scored late in the second quarter to give Franklin a 5-0 advantage at the break. Neilee Hess made seven saves in net for the shutout.

Sharon, 0 @ Stoughton, 3 – FinalStoughton earned its first shutout win of the season, blanking Sharon in a victory at home. Zofia Bangs scored a pair of goals to the pace the Black Knights’ offense while Morgan Lessa scored once.

Attleboro, 174 @ King Philip, 153 – Final

Canton, 154 @ Oliver Ames, 157 – FinalCanton went on the road and earned a close win over Oliver Ames at Pine Oaks, securing its fourth straight outright Davenport division title. Will Gefteas and Owen Donovan led the way for the Bulldogs, each shooting a team-low round of 38 while Conor Hunter and Nate MacDonald chipped in with a pair of 39s in the win. OA senior Logan Domenico was the match medalist, shooting a low-round of 37 for the Tigers. Kosta Spiliakos and David Rogers each chipped in with a 39 for OA while Jo Jo Gaultier, Jake Kaplan, and Will Gianni each finish with a 42.

North Attleboro, 173 @ Foxboro, 163 – FinalJunior Jack Watts was the lone golfer to shoot under 40, earning match medalist honors and leading Foxboro to a win at home. Watts carded a match-low round of 39, Dylan Quinn added a 40, and both Jack Rounds and Luke Davies finished with a 42 for Foxboro. Tyler DeMattio paced the Rocketeers with a 40, Aidan Weir shot a 43, Sam Gallagher added a 44, and Dillon Harding came in with a 47 for North Attleboro.

Stoughton, 181 @ Sharon, 176 – FinalSharon earned a close win at home at the Cape Club of Sharon over visiting Stoughton. Nathan Daley earned match medalist honors with a low-round of 40 to pace the Eagles while Eric Carter added a 44 and Owen Kevorkian chipped in with a 45. Max Huminik led Stoughton with a 43 and Anthony Hern finished with a 44 for the Black Knights.

Wednesday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 01/22/20

Girls Basketball
Sharon, 40 vs. Cardinal Spellman, 45 – FinalKaitlyn Wallace led the Eagles in scoring for the second straight night, finishing with 13, but Sharon was unable to pick up a non-league win. Leah Fandel added 11 and Ally Brown scored nine in the loss. Sharon trailed by eight at halftime (32-24) and clamped down defensively in the second half to try and make a comeback. The Eagles allowed only 13 points after the break, but Spellman was tough on the defensive end of the floor as well to hold on for the win.

Boys Hockey
Attleboro, 2 @ King Philip, 4 – FinalKing Philip scored three goals in the opening period in a win over visiting Attleboro. Sophomore Nolan Feyler opened the scoring just over three minutes into the game with assists from Rocco Bianculli and Kyle Gray, and Bianculli doubled the last two minutes later (from Feyler and Joe Boselli) for an early 2-0 lead. Attleboro’s Liam McDonough scored (from Owen Dryjowicz) to cut the deficit in half just past the midway point of the first but KP’s Conor Cooke (from Bianculli and Gray) scored just over a minute later to regain KP’s two-goal advantage. The Bombardiers once again got within a goal when Nate Parker scored with 3:15 to go in the second but KP had an answer as Boselli (from Feyler) scored 31 seconds later to make it 4-2.

Stoughton, 8 @ Durfee, 2 – FinalDante Massaro led the way for Stoughton with a hat trick, leading to a big road win. Ryan Flannery and Cade O’Connell each scored twice and Joe McNulty wrapped up the scoring for Stoughton. Nathan Petti earned the win between the pipes.

Canton, 3 @ Medway/Ashland, 3 – FinalCanton rallied for a pair of goals in the final four minutes to earn a draw with Medway/Ashland.

Franklin, 2 vs. Medfield, 2 – Final

Stoughton, 2 vs. Wayland, 6 – FinalJill Parker scored and had an assist in a loss at home to Wayland. Parker and Morgan Lessa assisted on a goal from Haley Nelson while Parker scored the Knights’ second goal with Ava Buckley and Samantha Sherman recording assists.

King Philip, 2 vs. Dedham, 4 – FinalKing Philip’s Makenzie Shandley and Morgan Cunningham scored and Avari Maxwell had an assist but the Warriors fell at home to Dedham. Cristina Coleman made 12 saves in net for KP.

Wrestling
Canton, 18 @ North Attleboro, 48 – FinalNorth Attleboro earned seven of its nine wins by pinfall to secure a key division win over visiting Canton. Keysun Wise needed just nine seconds to get a pin at 220 while Ethan Smith (126, 1:23), Chris Galligan (132, 0:32), Jon Lozinski (145, 5:50), Michael Edmonds (170, 2:18), Alex Warsofsky (195, 2:34), and John Kummer (285, 0:57) also recorded pins. Andrew Faris (138) earned a 4-2 decision in overtime while Joe Shepard (182) won 11-6. For Canton, Yurii Leskiv (106, 2:31) and Eddie Marinilli (152, 0:27) won by pin while Zachary Peters (113) won 6-4 in overtime and Jobi Michel (160) picked up a 14-9 win.

Sharon, 46 @ Foxboro, 15 – FinalThe Eagles moved another step closer to bringing home its first ever league meet title with a strong performance against perennial power Foxboro. Adam Landstein, Amit Levin, David Gelman, Aaron Cashton, Max Pozner, Kirit Gosetty, Tyler Freedman, Philip Varvak, Rhamsez Thevenin, and Eric Rabkin all earned wins for Sharon. The Eagles will host North Attleboro next week with a chance to clinch at least a share of the Davenport crown.

Mansfield, 31 @ Franklin, 37 – FinalFranklin heavyweight Matthew Leofanti earned a pin in the final match of the night to give the Panthers a thrilling win over the Hornets in a hard fought match. Jake Carlucci, Kenny Sauer, and Dom Sackley also had pinfall victories for the Panthers.

Taunton, 51 vs. Keefe Tech, 19 – FinalThe Tigers picked up a non-league victory over Keefe Tech on Wednesday night, earning seven wins by pinfall. Both Jackson Mandeville (138, 0:40) and Ethan Harris (145, 0:57) pinned their opponents in under a minute while James Collins (106, 1:06), Xavier Sandoval (126, 3:14), Ben Mandeville (132, 3:39), Christian Balmain (152, 3:20), and Jackson Wellman (195, 2:39) also win by pin for Taunton. Peter Ye notched a 5-0 decision at 182 for the Tigers.

Freshman Molly Hurley (from Katelyn Brown and Maggie McCaffrey) and sophomore Emma Hunt each scored once in the first period while junior Katelyn Brown scored a pair of goals. Shaw Downing, Samantha Wong, Maggie McCaffrey, and Hurley had assists on Brown’s two goals. Libby Carter, Maddi Dolan, and Olivia Stoller also scored in the win for Franklin while Kelli Maple had a pair of assists. Gabby Colace made 16 saves for the shutout.

King Philip, 6 @ Walpole, 2 – FinalMakenzie Shandley and Morgan Cunningham each scored a pair of goals to lead the Warriors to a big win on the road. Sydney O’Shea and Avari Maxwell each scored once in the win.

Michael Albert had a goal and an assist while Xavier Abel and Connor McGrath each scored once in the win. Jack DeMoura, Brady Nichols, Noah Gravel, and Colton Scheralis each had an assist in the win. Ryan Morry and Nate Parker scored for the Bombardiers while Aidan Diggin, Sam Flynn, and Owen Dryjowicz each had an assist.

Franklin, 1 @ Foxboro, 1 – FinalFranklin senior Tom Tasker scored in the third period to help the Panthers overcome Foxboro goalie Espen Reager and earn a point on the road. Tasker scored just under five minutes into the third to bring the Panthers level, the only time Franklin could solve Reager (54 saves). Sophomore Jack Watts put the hosts in front with a goal in the first period.

Oliver Ames, 0 @ Bridgewater-Raynham, 4 – Final

Girls Hockey
Canton, 2 @ Waltham, 1 – FinalCanton put more than 30 shots on goal and came away with a win in the battle of unbeaten teams at the Bentley rink. Junior Faith Nelson opened the scoring in the first period and, after Waltham had tied it, freshman Olivia Maffeo scored the eventual game-winner on a second period power play.

Franklin, 2 @ Dedham, 5 – Final

King Philip, 5 vs. Medway, 1 – Final Makenzie Shandley scored twice to lead the Warriors to a win over visiting Medway. Morgan Cunningham, Sydney O’Shea, and Bridgett Nally each scored once in the win.

Stoughton, 3 @ Cohasset, 10 – FinalMorgan Lessa scored a pair of goals and Jillian Parker found the back of the net once but the Black Knights dropped the contest to Cohasset. Zofia Bangs had two assists for Stoughton.

Wrestling
Peckham Tournament – Four Hockomock teams competed in the annual Peckham Tournament with Sharon having the best team finish, taking second overall. Mansfield was third, Stoughton took sixth, host Canton was eighth overall, and all four schools had at least one individual champion. The Eagles had two first place finishes and 11 total wrestlers place fourth or better in the tournament. Adam Landstein (106) and Amit Levin (120) grappled their way to individual titles while Eric Rabkin (195) finished second overall for the Eagles. Mansfield had six wrestlers go to the finals with Antonios Sevastos (126) and CJ Glaropoulos (170) winning their brackets. Ciaran Connolly (160), Max Farley (132), Noah Jellenik (220), and Will Stratton (145) were second for the Hornets. Stoughton’s John Santos (113) and Canton’s Eddie Marinilli (152) also won individual titles.

Hingham Quad (Oliver Ames) – Oliver Ames earned one win on the day but suffered a pair of setbacks to finish 1-2. The Tigers pinned down a win over Sandwich (47-36) but fell to host Hingham (61-18) and Walpole (44-30). Junior captain Remi Creighton (126) and sophomore Giovany Juste (145) each went 3-0 on the day.

Wilmington Quad (Milford), 9:30AM

Durfee Quad (Taunton) – Taunton picked up a pair of wins at the Durfee meet, pinning down wins over the host Hilltoppers (60-12) and Everett (63-9). Brandon Mendes (113), Tyler Lima (120), Jackson Mandeville (138), Christian Balmain (152), and Jackson Wellman (195) each went 2-0 with two pins on the day for the Tigers.
