Taunton, 2 @ Attleboro, 5 – Final – Attleboro erased a two-run deficit with four runs in the fifth inning and tacked on an insurance run in the sixth to hand Taunton its second loss of the season. Big Blue scored on a bases-loaded walk, a two-run error and Dylan Maskell came through with an RBI single to give Attleboro a 4-2 lead. Matt Callahan (two hits) delivered an RBI triple in the sixth inning for Attleboro. Sophomore Eoin Kelleher earned the win with a complete game effort, allowing five hits while retiring five batters on strikes.

Softball
Taunton, 11 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – Taunton senior Courtney Fisher tossed a perfect game, retiring all 21 batters that she faced, in the Tigers’ win. Fisher struck out eight and made a terrific play, snagging a line drive up the middle with one out in the seventh, to preserve the perfect game. THS head coach Dave Lewry said Hannah Aldrich also made a great play in the first, playing a bad hop grounder off her chest and gunning the runner out at first. Jaime Brown was 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBI, MacKenzie Handrahan went 2-for-3 with an RBI, freshman Jaylin Couto went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a home run and eighth grader McKenzie McAloon had two hits, a stolen base and an RBI for the Tigers.

Boys Tennis
Taunton, 4 @ Attleboro, 1 – Final – Taunton sophomore Brett Beaulieu didn’t lose a game at first singles to lead the Tigers to a win on the road. Junior Mike Briggs won 6-1, 6-1 at second singles, senior Eric Gwozdz notched a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 win at third singles and the team of sophomores Dylan Kullas and Charlie Fiske won 7-5, 6-4 at first doubles.

Canton, 5 @ Stoughton, 0 – Final – Canton junior Jake Wolicki didn’t lose a game at first singles and the Bulldogs won all five matches in straight sets to beat Stoughton. Wolicki won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, Jeevith Chandrasekar won 6-1, 6-1 at second singles and Josh Diep notched a 7-5, 6-1 win at third singles. The team of Aidas Jakubenas and Dillon Anderson won 7-5, 6-1 at first doubles and Jake Troderman and Charles Malloy recorded a 6-0, 6-4 win at second doubles.

Girls Tennis
Attleboro, 0 @ Taunton, 5 – Final – Taunton lost just a total of four game, winning all five matches in straight sets to earn a win at home over Attleboro. Olivia Sweeney (first singles), Jillian Pagliuca (second singles) and the team of Ashleigh Eason and Emily Moor (first doubles) all won 6-0, 6-0. Vanessa Rosa won 6-1, 6-0 at third singles and the team of Callie Hebert and Jordan Martin took a 6-1, 6-2 win at second doubles.

Stoughton, 0 @ Canton, 5 – Final – The Bulldogs won all five matches in straight sets to earn their second win of the season. Emma Sokolovsky won 6-4, 6-0 at first singles, Jamie Cree recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles and Kiki Karavas prevailed with a 6-2, 6-1 win at third singles. The team of Julia Burkowsky and Caitlin Matthews won 6-2, 6-3 at first doubles and Sarah Hernandez and Stelina Michaelidis teamed up for a 6-2, 6-1 win at second doubles for the Bulldogs.

Canton, 43 @ Sharon, 93 – Final – Canton’s John Guenthner qualified for states and finishes first in the 400M hurdles, crossing in 59.7. Riley McDonnell had a pair of second place finishes, clocking in at 1:01.4 in the 400M hurdles and 24.1 in the 200M. Canton’s 4×400 relay team (Amico, Milne, Guenthner, Graham) finished fist.

Canton, 40 @ Sharon, 95 – Final – Canton’s Sarah Collins was a double winner, taking first in the 400M hurdles (1:11.1) and in the 800M (2:33.5) Erika Lum was first in the high jump (4-10) and second in the 100M (13.1) and Bronwyn Mahoney took second in the discus (77-1.5) and second in the shot put (30-9.5) for the Bulldogs.

Milford, 66 @ Foxboro, 70 – Final

Mansfield, 55 @ Franklin, 81 – Final – Mansfield junior Madison Haughey was a double winner, taking first in the high jump (4-9) and the 100M hurdles (16.8), junior Angela Corkery finished first in the triple jump (32-4) and second in the long jump (15-2) and freshman Lindsey Goulding won the javelin (78-9). Mansfield’s 4×100 team (Olivia Horn, Emily Quitzu, Angela Corkery, Alexis Kiyanda) and its 4×400 team (Cassidy McMahon, Emma Oldow, Audrey Martin, Caitlin Whitman) both came in first.

Monday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 05/01/17

Baseball
Milford, 9 @ Attleboro, 5 – Final – Attleboro held a pair of leads, up 4-2 and then again up 5-4 but Milford stormed back to get the win. Kevin Cambrola earned the win in relief for the Scarlet Hawks, shutting down the Bombardiers’ offense. Ryan Goncalves, Alex Macek and Luke Allegrezza each had two hits for Milford while the Hawks capitalized on five Attleboro errors and seven walks.

Canton, 0 @ Taunton, 15 – Final (6 inn.) – Taunton scored five runs in the first inning to set the tone and tacked on runs in all other innings except one to beat Canton. Christian Simoes had an impressive day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four runs scored and three RBI to pace the Tigers’ offense. Jimmy Hoye was 4-for-4 with two RBI and two run scored, Joe Manchester was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, Billy DaRosa had two hits and two RBI and Matt Machado had two hits and two runs scored. Sophomore Griffin Tomaszycki tossed a six inning shutout in his first career start, allowing six hits while recording six strikeouts.

Foxboro, 2 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – Final (8 inn.) – Oliver Ames rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to send the games to extra innings and won with an infield hit an inning later. Senior Cam Johnson came through with the tying hit, driving in Mitch Goulet (walk) and Kyle Gagliardi (single) to tie the game. In the bottom of the eighth, Alden Newman led off with a single, moved to second on a hit batter, moved to third on a sacrifice and beat the tag at home on an infield hit from Gagliardi.

Stoughton, 3 @ Franklin, 4 – Final – Franklin sophomore Jake Macchi delivered a double in the bottom of the sixth inning, knocking in classmate Alex Haba for the go-ahead run to break a 3-3 game and give the Panthers the lead. Bryan Woelfel earned the save with a scoreless seventh inning. Junior Jason Ulrickson earned the win following a tremendous outing, striking out 10 while allowing just four hits and two walks. Jake Lyons added a double and a run scored for Franklin. Ruben Gonzalez was 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored an RBI and Evan Gibb had a two-run double to tie the game for Stoughton.

Sharon, 4 @ King Philip, 10 – Final – King Philip’s offense erupted for six runs in the sixth inning to break open a tie game. With the Eagles and Warriors knotted at 4-4, King Philip’s bats came to life to plate the go-ahead run and tacked on five more. Chris Wing tossed a complete game, striking out six with three earned runs allowed. Wing also collected two hits at the plate while Stephen Murray went 3-for-3 and Will Weir went 2-for-2.

North Attleboro, 3 @ Mansfield, 5 – Final – North Attleboro got off to a good start wtih a run in the top of the first inning but Mansfield with three runs in the bottom half and never surrendered the lead. Big Red came back to tie the game in the top of the third, but Mansfield plated what turned out to be the game winning run in the bottom half. The Hornets tacked on an insurance run in the sixth. Kyle Moran (2-for-3, run) doubled in Colin Gibbons (two runs, RBI) for the game-winner. Zack Peterson also went 1-for-3 with two RBI for Mansfield. Nolan Dousa earned the win, striking out eight with three earned runs allowed.

Softball
Attleboro, 0 @ Milford, 12 – Final (5 inn.) – Milford junior Emily Piergustavo continued to dominate at the plate, collecting three hits for the third straight game to pace the Hawks. Piergustavo was 3-for-3 with a double, home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Kaitlyn DeCapua (1-for-2) had two RBI, two runs and a walk, Kelley Reichert also knocked in two runs, Maddy Bonvino (double) reached base three times and Shannon Cormier knocked a run in for Milford. Ali Atherton allowed just two hits while striking out six in a complete game effort to earn the win.

Taunton, 15 @ Canton, 0 – Final (5 inn.) – Courtney Fisher retired nine consecutive hitters, including four on strike outs, as the Tigers defeated Canton. Jaylin Couto allowed two hits, but struck out six over her two innings in relief. Jaime Brown (triple, RBI), Liana Duarte (three RBI), and MacKenzie Handrahan (double, RBI) each had two hits, while Couto blasted a three-run home run to lead Taunton’s offensive attack.

Oliver Ames, 10 @ Foxboro, 5 – Final – Katie Mills, Victoria Ziner and Katie Abreu each had multiple hits and played a big role in Oliver Ames’ offensive outburst to beat Foxboro. Mills went 4-for-5 with three RBI scored, Ziner went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a home run and Abreu was 3-for-4 with a run scored for the Tigers. Lizzie Miller added two hits and a run scored, Caroline Mahoney had two hits and Rachel Han went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Kayla Georgeu earned the win, allowing seven hits while striking out five.

Franklin, 12 @ Stoughton, 2 – Final – Franklin junior Jackie Cherry retired the final six batters on strikes and notched a career-high 12 strikeouts to help the Panthers earn a win on the road. Offensively, Tara Hartnett had three RBI, Meg Caron had a pinch-hit two-run single and Alexx Niss went 2-for-4 with a triple and scored three runs. Taylor Levine and Alessandra Leffredo each drove in a run for the Black Knights and Nikki Coppola had a pair of hits.

King Philip, 12 @ Sharon, 0 – Final (5 inn.) – King Philip junior Elise Pereira made her mark on both sides of the ball in the Warriors’ win. Pereira allowed just two hits in a complete game effort while striking out 10 batters. At the dish, she had two hits, including a three-run home run for KP. Meg Gorman (double) had three hits while Betsy Walsh and Sydney Phillips each had two hits apiece.

Mansfield, 4 @ North Attleboro, 7 – Final – North Attleboro freshman Bella Erti scattered seven hits, struck out five and walked two, while allowing no earned runs to earn the win for Big Red. At the plate, Erti had a solo home run and a double, finishing with two RBI. Sam Courtemanche was 3-for-3 while Meg Barlow and Kristina Murphy were both 2-for-3. Abby Gallagher added three RBI for the Rocketeers and Ashley Cangiano picked up an outfield assist, throwing a run out at home from center. Kara Bendanillo drove in the first Mansfield run with a bases loaded walk in the fourth and Megan Letendre singled in a second. The Hornets added two more in the fifth on an overthrow and a wild pitch. Letendre and Marissa Staffer each had two hits for Mansfield, which finished with eight as a team.

Oliver Ames, 7 @ Attleboro, 11 – Final

Canton, 4 vs. Medway, 13 – Final

Foxboro, 13 @ Bishop Feehan, 12 – Final (OT)

Franklin, 10 @ King Philip, 4 – Final – Franklin limited King Philip to just one goal in the first half and scored five goals in each frame to pick up a key division win. The Panthers raced out to a 5-1 lead after the first two quarters. Eric Civetti scored a game-high four goals and had one assist, Sam Arsenault scored once and had three helpers, Packie Watson notched two goals and one assist, Chase Tanner found the back of the net twice and Nitin Chaudhury had one goal and one assist for Franklin. FHS head coach Lou Verrochi praised the work of sophomore Pat Morrison, saying “he was a beast in close defense.” Connor O’Rourke made eight saves in net and sophomore Jacob Alexander won 13 of 18 faceoffs for Franklin.

Foxboro, 13 @ Hingham, 12 – Final (OT) – Sophia DiCenso scored six goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead the Warriors to a non-league road win. Meghan Curran scored a hat trick and Sara Addeche made eight saves in the win.

James Johnston and Derek Wu won 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles and Tyler DiPalma and Rahul Hosdurg notched a 6-0, 6-1 win at second doubles. Rahul Herur won 6-2, 6-3 at first singles, Eli Brooks didn’t lose a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at second singles and Dan Angermeier won 6-1, 6-1 at third singles.

King Philip, 0 @ Sharon, 5 – Final – It was another strong performance for the Eagles, who won all five matches in straight sets. Senior Griffin took a 6-2, 6-0 decision at first singles, junior Fred Bondar notched a 6-3, 6-0 win at second singles and junior Andre Olivei recorded a 6-4, 6-4 win at third singles. The team of senior Alex Romantz and Alberto Olivei won 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles and sophomore Danujan Thirumavalavan and senior Sammy Kirshenbaum won 6-3, 6-3 at second doubles.

Mansfield, 3 @ North Attleboro, 2 – Final – Mansfield edged out Big Red by sweeping all three singles matches. Senior Benny Lin won 7-5, 6-1 at first singles, sophomore Luke Nickerson took a 6-0, 6-4 decision at second singles and senior Gus Daganhardt prevailed with a 7-6, 6-1 win at third singles. North Attleboro won both doubles matches with senior Daniel Zhang and junior Ben Pfeffer taking first doubles 6-2, 6-2 and Andrew Harris and Vikram Senthilakumaran winning 7-5, 6-2 at second doubles.

Milford, 5 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – All matches were competitive but Milford prevailed with a sweep, winning all five in straight sets. Julie Rabinowitz won 6-0, 6-2 at first singles, Allison Buckenmaier won 6-3, 7-5 at second singles and Caitlin Carafella won 6-1, 6-3 at third singles. The team of Victoria Beyer and Daniella Arojo won 6-4, 6-4 at first doubles and the team of Ashlyn Oliveri and Angela Pillarella won 7-5, 6-1 at second doubles.

Canton, 0 @ Taunton, 5 – Final – Taunton first singles player Olivia Sweeney won her 58th career match, setting a new program record as the Tigers swept Canton. Sweeney won 6-0, 6-4 while Jillian Pagliuca won 6-3, 6-0 at second singles and Vanessa Rosa won 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 at third singles. The team of Emily Moor and Ashleigh Eason won 6-1, 6-0 at first doubles and the team of Jordan Martin and Caroline Hebert won 6-1, 6-1 at second doubles.

Foxboro, 5 @ Oliver Ames, 0 – Final – Foxboro won all five matches in straight sets to bounce back from just its second loss of the season. Junior Sophia Prinos won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, senior Lexi Nelson won 6-0, 6-2 at second singles and junior Kayla Prag took a 6-3, 6-4 decision at third singles. The team of juniors Morgan Krockta and Olivia Dantona won 6-3, 6-1 at second doubles and sophomore Kendall Milender and senior Jacey Nicklas earned a 7-5, 6-0 victory at second doubles for the Warriors.

Stoughton, 1 @ Franklin, 4 – Final – Franklin seniors Madison Derby and Julia Hogan won a tightly contested match at first doubles in a 10 set tiebreaker to punctuate the Panthers’ win over Stoughton. Derby and Hogan won 7-5, 5-7, 10-6 while juniors Hailey Strier and Jillian McLaughlin won 6-3, 6-1 at second doubles. Hannah Sweeney didn’t lose a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles and senior Anja Deric won 6-0, 6-2 at second singles. Stoughton senior Ally Swartz won 6-4, 6-0 at third singles for the Black Knights.

Sharon, 5 @ King Philip, 0 – Final – Sharon’s three singles players didn’t lose a single game in a dominating performance on the road. Nupur Shukla (first singles), Emily Zhang (second singles) and Lulu Yuan (third singles) each won 6-0, 6-0. The team of Katie Merport and Emily Wen won 6-3, 6-1 at first doubles and Rithika Neti and Sophia Fein teamed up for a 6-2, 6-1 victory at second doubles.

North Attleboro, 5 @ Mansfield, 0 – Final – North Attleboro won all five matches in straight sets with its first doubles pair winning without dropping a game. Katie Demontigny and Azka Siddiq won 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles for Big Red. Emily Chiasson won 6-1, 6-1 at first singles, Jordan Willis won 6-0, 6-1 at second singles and Gabby Duva recorded a 6-2, 6-4 win at third singles. Hana Hershey and Shiobhi Nandi capped the win with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at second doubles.

Baseball
Taunton, 4 @ Foxboro, 1 – Final – Taunton’s offense plated its first run in the top of the first inning, added two more in the fourth inning and tacked on another insurance run in the seventh inning to record a win on the road. Christian Simoes went 2-for-3 for the Tigers with an RBI and a run scored while Matt Machado (run) and Tyler Medeiros (RBI) each went 1-for-3 for the Tigers.

Mansfield, 3 @ Sharon, 5 – Final – Sharon junior Max Tarlin impressed on the bump, tossing six innings with just four hits allowed to earn the win. Tarlin allowed two unearned tuns, walked just one and struck out six for the Eagles. Sharon scored once in the second and then exploded for four runs in the third inning. Aiden Arnold (RBI, run) and Jake Teven (run) each had two hits for the Eagles while Spencer Singer (RBI, run), Drew Naisuler (run), Ben Schwartz (RBI), Danny Emerman (two RBI) and Jake Marglous (run) each had one hit. Mansfield’s Zack Peterson (two RBI) and Kevin Dow (home run) each went 1-for-3 for the Hornets.

Oliver Ames, 2 @ Milford, 1 – Final – Oliver Ames sophomore Matt McCormack made an immediate impact in his varsity debut, coming on in relief to pick up the win for the Tigers. McCormack came on with the bases loaded and just one out, but escaped the jam with a pair of strikeouts. The sophomore threw 3.2 innings, collecting the win by allowing just one hit while striking out four. OA head coach Joe Abarr praised the defensive work of sophomore Chris Pearsons (six putouts, run) at third base. OA took the lead in the fourth inning when Kyle Gagliardi singled with two outs, stole second and came home on an outfield error. Milford tied the game in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single from Alex Coady. OA scored the winning run in the sixth, with Pearsons scoring on a passed ball. Alex Macek threw a complete game for Milford, allowing just four hits with seven strikeouts and two unearned runs allowed.

Softball
Foxboro, 1 @ Taunton, 12 – Final – Taunton scored in every inning and picked up a seventh win of the season. Courtney Fisher went the distance in the circle, striking out three. Jaime Brown, Liana Duarte, Kya Enos, and Hannah Aldrich each had three hits for the Tigers and Hailey Medeiros had two hits. Duarte drove in three runs and Medeiros and Aldrich each had two RBI.

Stoughton, 0 @ King Philip, 14 – Final – Elise Pereira tossed six shutout innings for the Warriors, striking out 11 in the process. KP hit three homers and pounded out 13 hits on the day. Meghan Gorman went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI, Betsy Walsh went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI, and Paige Kuchy went 2-for-3 with a solo homer. Stoughton only managed three hits – a double by Jordan Lyons and singles from Gina Carafa and Alesandra Lofredo.

Sharon, 3 @ Mansfield, 9 – Final – The Eagles held a 3-0 lead into the sixth inning before the Hornets rallied with nine runs to pick up the victory. Mady Bendanillo started the rally with a walk and Liz Mackin reached on an error. Sarah Cahill, who picked up the win an struck out nine, singled in the first run and Marissa Staffer followed with a single that plated two and tied the game. Caty DeMassi had an RBI on a fielder’s choice to give the Hornets the lead and Megan Letendre doubled home two runs. Mady Bendanillo came up for a second time in the inning and capped the scoring with a three-run homer.

Milford, 9 @ Oliver Ames, 1 – Final – Shannon Cormier collected a pair of hits and knocked in three runs to pace Milford to a win on the road. Cormier also had a stolen base while Emily Piergustavo went 3-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base. Kelley Reichert (1-for-3, home run) earned the win, tossing a complete game with no earned runs allowed. OA’s Katie Abreu went 2-for-3, Lexie Campbell was 2-for-4 and Victoria Ziner had a hit and scored a run for the Tigers.

Taunton, 5 @ Mansfield, 18 – Final – Mansfield used eight different goal scorers to pick up a division win. Ann Maher led the way for the Hornets with five goals and Maire Foley added four. Hannah Sternburg made 10 saves for Mansfield. Alana Tavares had a hat trick and Delaney Powell a pair of goals for the Tigers.

Stoughton, 0 @ King Philip, 5 – Final – King Philip dropped just a total of four games across five matches to earn a win over visiting Stoughton. Blake Ginter won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles, Martin Matous won 6-0, 6-1 at second singles and Marco DiStefano took a 6-0, 6-0 decision at third singles. The team of Ryan Gemelli and Aidan Igantius won 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles and Jake Webster and Tim Costanzo won 6-2, 6-0 at second doubles.

Sharon, 5 @ Mansfield, 0 – Final – The Eagles won all five matches in straight sets and dropped just three games in doubles play to pick up a win on the road. Senior Griffin Fein won 6-2, 6-3 at first singles, junior Fred Bondar won 6-4, 6-0 at second singles and junior Andre Olivei won 6-2, 6-3 at third singles. Ashleigh Eason won at second singles, taking the first set 6-3 before Foxboro retired due to injury. Jillian Pagliuca won 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 at third singles for the Tigers. The team of Emily Moor and Callie Hebert won 6-2, 6-0 at first doubles and Vanessa Rosa and Jordan Martin won 6-1, 6-1 at second doubles. Foxboro’s Lexi Nelson won 6-2, 6-3 at first singles.

Oliver Ames, 3 @ Milford, 2 – Final – Oliver Ames’ Claudia Ferrara battled through a three set thriller and its second doubles team rallied from an 0-5 deficit to help the Tigers prevail with a win at Milford. Ferrara won 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 at second singles and Olivia Groebe and Emily Gordon battled for a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) win at second doubles. OA’s first doubles team of Tori Wyman and Kristin Bloumbas notched the team’s first win with a 6-1, 6-3 decision at first doubles. Milford’s Julie Rabinowitz won 6-3, 8-6 at first singles and Caitlin Cafarella won 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 at third singles for the Hawks.

Taunton, 3 vs. Quincy, 0 – Final – Taunton punched its ticket to the postseason for the first time since 2013 with a sweep of Quincy, 26-24, 25-19, 25-18. Lance Law had a team-high 12 kills as well as six digs, two blocks and an ace, David Fusiecki had nine kills, 10 digs and an ace and Nick Sorm chipped in with 11 digs, seven assists and four kills for the Tigers.

King Philip, 8 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – King Philip broke open a close game with six runs in the seventh inning to pick up a win on the road at Attleboro. The Warriors took the lead with two runs in the second inning but didn’t breakthrough again until the top of the seventh. In the top of the second, Ryan Coulter singled, stole second and then scored on a base hit from Chris Wing. Wing came across to score on a double by Patrick Limerick. Wing got the win on the mound for the Warriors, tossing a complete game with six hits allowed. The senior struck out eight batters in the win. In the seventh inning, Will Weir tripled in Kyle Guenthner, Weir came across on a single from Ben Furfari, Collin Cooke knocked in Furfari with a base hit and Jack Webster and Cooke scored on a double from Wing. Attleboro’s Tyler McGovern tossed five solid innings for the Bombardiers with two runs allowed.

North Attleboro, 11 @ Canton, 2 – Final – North Attleboro scored a pair of runs in each of the second and third innings and really created separation with a five-run fifth inning. Big Red added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Junior Nick Sinacola had a standout performance, both at the plate and on the mound for the Rockteers. He tossed six innings, scattering five hits with just one walk allowed while striking out eight. At the plate, Sinacola went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a triple, a run scored and three RBI. Kyle McCarthy added two hits, two runs and two RBI, John Brennan had a pair of hits and Zach DeMattio hit a solo home run.

Oliver Ames, 0 @ Franklin, 1 – Final – Franklin emerged from a pitcher’s duel with a 1-0 win, scoring the lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Franklin lefty Jason Ulrickson went the distance, tossing a complete game shutout with just four hits allowed. He walked just one batter while striking out three. Ulrickson also had a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-3. Oliver Ames sophomore Tom Parker also had a strong performance, going five-plus innings with just three hits against and two walks. The sophomore struck out a pair while allowing just the one. Franklin senior Ryan Hodgkins scored the lone run of the game, coming home on a sacrifice fly to right field from Josh Macchi. The Panthers had a strong game defensively, led by sophomore shortstop Alex Haba, who had eight putouts.

Mansfield, 0 @ Taunton, 2 – Final – Junior Tyler Medeiros shined in his first start of the season, striking out four while allowing just three hits and one walk in six scoreless innings. Trevor Pietrzyk and Danny Keogh (save) combined for a scoreless seventh inning to close the game. Taunton junior Joe Manchester singled in the fourth inning and came around to score after an errant pickoff attempt and a misplay in the outfield. Taunton tacked on a second run in the fifth. Billy Emerson singled, advanced to second on a sacrifice by David Schofield, advanced to third on a single from Matt Machado and scored on a single to left field from junior Jacob Crawford. “Tyler threw the ball exceptionally well today,” said first year head coach Blair Bourque. “He threw strikes and let his defense make plays for him. After the first inning he really settled in. He was mixing his pitches up and hitting corners.” Mansfield’s Nolan Dousa struck out six in six innings of work, scattering six hits. Max Boen had two hits for Mansfield.

Milford, 0 @ Stoughton, 15 – Final (5 inn.) – For the second time in three games, Stoughton’s offense has reached double figures in hits and runs scored. The Black Knights belted 16 hits while coming across to score 15 runs. Stoughton senior Justin Hutchinson (3-for-4 at the plate with a double, two runs and an RBI) got the win on the mound, tossing four shutout innings with just two hits and one walk allowed, all while striking out seven batters. Sophomore Evan Gibb (2-for-3, three RBI, run) tossed a scoreless 1-2-3 fifth inning with a pair of strikeouts. Also hitting well for the Black Knights were Ruben Gonzalez (3-for-4, three runs, RBI, three stolen bases), Jack Connelly (2-for-2, double, home run, three runs, three RBI), Pat Hagerty (2-for-3, triple, RBI, three runs), Nick Hardy (2-for-3, double, run, two RBI), Matt Hadley (triple) and Ryan Sullivan (run, RBI).

Canton, 0 @ North Attleboro, 21 – Final (5 inn.) – Bella Erti was perfect through five innings to pick up the victory for North Attleboro, striking out five of the 15 hitters she faced. Olivia Capobianco went 4-for-5 and Liz Morehouse went 3-for-4 for North. Also for the Rocketeers, Meg Barlow, Amelia Murphy (3-for-3 on the day), and Stephanie Inglese each had two-run homers.

Franklin, 13 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – Final – Franklin turned a 2-0 deficit into a big lead, plating 10 runs in the fourth inning and then adding three more runs in the sixth inning. Ally Shea had a hit and knocked in two runs for the Panthers while Meg Caron and Olivia Haba each knocked in three runs. Sophomore Emily Valentino tossed a complete game, striking out one to earn her first varsity win.

Taunton, 5 @ Mansfield, 0 – Final – Courtney Fisher went the distance for the Tigers, tossing a three-hit shutout with six strikeouts. Hannah Aldrich went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored a pair of runs for Taunton, while Jaime Brown had a pair of hits and Kya Enos drove in a pair of runs. Sarah Cahill made her first varsity start for the Hornets and went five innings, allowing just five hits.

Stoughton, 2 @ Milford, 10 – Final – The Scarlet Hawks broke the game open with a five-run third inning, turning a one-run deficit into a lead. Jess Tomaso (3-for-4, double, six RBI) had a three-run homer run and three batters later, Kelley Reichert (2-for-4) had a two run single to put Milford up 5-1. Shannon Cormier drew three walks and came around to score each time for Milford. Reichert got the win in the circle, tossing a complete game with five strikeouts.

Boys Lacrosse
Attleboro, 17 @ Stoughton, 4 – Final

Canton, 6 @ Scituate, 12 – Final – The Bulldogs finally played their first game of the season, but fell on the road to a tough Scituate team. Sophomore Mike Shaw led the Bulldogs with three goals and one assist while Kevin Albert added three asses. Ryan Lodge scored a pair of goals, Dan Cohen netted one tally and Nick Allen chipped in with two assists. Freshman Jack Connolly played with in goal in his first varsity game, making 12 saves.

Franklin, 7 vs. BC High, 8 – Final

King Philip, 8 @ Bishop Feehan, 7 – Final – King Philip overcame a plethora of penalties to edge out Bishop Feehan. The Warriors were down a man for over 16 minutes in the game but a great defensive effort and a stellar performance from Paul Macrina in goal helped KP hang on. Macrina made 16 saves in net while first year head coach Jamie Stefanini said Michael Curtain, Connor Khung, Zach D’Amico (goal), Wes Bishop and Garrett Maxwell all played outstanding. John DeLuca scored a pair of goals for KP while Tim Watson had one goal and two assists, Colin DeVellis had one goal and one assist and Ben Palmer and Robert Tartagulla each scored once.

Oliver Ames, 4 @ Silver Lake, 5 – Final – Oliver Ames shut out Silver Lake in the fourth quarter and scored three unanswered goals but fell just shy of completing its comeback against the Lakers. Senior Liam Brown, juniors Owen Gallagher and Eric LeBlanc and freshman Shane Kikelly each scored once for OA.

Girls Lacrosse
Foxboro, 7 @ Walpole, 8 – Final – Sophia DiCenso and Caroline Boudreau each scored hat tricks for the Warriors and Meghan Curran added one. Freshman goalie Sara Addeche made six saves, as Foxboro held the defending Div. 2 state champions scoreless in the second half.

North Attleboro, 8 @ Mansfield, 4 – Final – Katie Lindstrom, Erin Holley and Kenzie Rosenberg each scored two goals for the Rocketeers and goalie Kayla Moulin made 12 saves in the win.

Oliver Ames, 7 @ Whitman-Hanson, 9 – Final – Emalyn Duvall recorded a hat trick and Sofia Masciarelli found the back of the net twice but the Tigers fell on the road at Whitman-Hanson. OA goalie Ari Waldorf made 14 saves for the Tigers.

Boys Tennis
Attleboro, 0 @ King Philip, 5 – Final – Cole Ginter didn’t drop a game at first singles, the team of Ryan Gemelli and Sam Collela did the same at first doubles and KP won all five matches in straight sets to beat Attleboro. Ginter won 6-0, 6-0 at first while brother Blake Ginter won 6-1, 6-0 at second singles. Martin Martous won 6-0, 6-1 at third singles for KP. Gemelli and Collela won 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles while Jake Webster and Marco DiStefano won 6-0, 6-1 at second doubles.

Canton, 1 @ North Attleboro, 4 – Final – North Attleboro dominated in both doubles matches and took wins at second and third singles to pick up a win over Canton. Senior Barsomo Nuay win 6-2, 6-3 at second singles and junior Alex Rinaldi won 6-1, 6-3 at third singles. The team of senior Daniel Zhang and junior Ben Pfeffer won 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles and senior Andrew Harris and Vikram Senthilakumaran won 6-1, 6-0 at second doubles. Canton junior Jake Wolicki won 6-1, 6-4 at first singles for the Bulldogs’ lone win.

Franklin, 5 @ Oliver Ames, 0 – Final – Franklin’s Tony Calderone and Dan Angermeier both made their varsity debuts, teaming up at second doubles and won in straight sets without losing a single game. Milford, 3 vs. Nipmuc, 1 – Final – Milford picked up its third win of the season, beating Nipmuc 25-21, 25-20, 16-25, 25-19. Outside hitter Jack Winship had 18 kills and 18 digs, middle Joao Boaventura had 10 kills, 11 digs and four blocks and setter Danny Zwonik finished with 37 assists, a block and an ace.

Taunton, 3 vs. Durfee, 1 – Final – The Tigers defended home court with a 25-20, 25-16, 14-25, 25-21 win over the Hilltoppers on Monday. Lens Esquil had eight kills, three blocks and an ace, Lance Law had seven kills, a block and an ace, Collin Hunter added five kills, two blocks and two aces and David Fusiecki had six digs, two blocks, two kills and an ace.

Stoughton, 8 @ Mansfield, 9 – Final – Mansfield scored all nine of its runs in the first three innings and then held off a last inning rally from the visitors to get the win. The Hornets plated three runs in the first, four in the second and two more in the third while Stoughton scored twice in the first, once in the second, twice in the third, and once in the fourth. Stoughton pushed across two more runs in the seventh inning and had the bases loaded but the Hornets escaped the jam for the win. Kevin Dow was 2-for-3 with two RBI and earned the win on the mound in relief, tossing 3.1 innings with two runs allowed and three strikeouts. Colin Gibbons also went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored while both Max Boen and Aidan Cahill had two hits and two runs scored each. Stoughton’s Justin Hutchinson went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run while Ruben Gonzalez, Pat Hagerty, Luke Johnson, Evan Gibb and Nick Hardy each had one RBI for the Knights.

Mansfield, 2 @ Stoughton, 10 – Final – Gina Carafa went the distance in the circle for the Black Knights, scattering 11 hits while striking out 11 Hornets, while also going 2-for-4 at the plate. Shannon Flaherty went 3-for-3 with two doubles, scored a pair of runs and drove in two others, Val Whalen had a pair of hits, and Nicki Coppola had three RBI for Stoughton, which scored seven runs in the first inning to take control. Stoughton, 1 @ Mansfield, 15 – Final – Nine different players found the back of the net for the Hornets as Mansfield beat Stoughton in the Black Knights’ first ever varsity game. Joe Cox (three goals, one assist), Hunter Ferreira (two goals, three assists), Sam O’Connell (two goals), Aidan Sacco (two goals) and Cullen Murphy (two goals) paced the offense. Haig Megerdichian (assist), Brady Kessler, Josh London and Liam Carey each scored once. Mike Zampine and Mike DuBreuil both had strong games defensively for the Hornets. Stoughton’s David Cellucci scored the program’s first ever goal in the first quarter.

Milford, 2 @ Oliver Ames, 13 – Final – Oliver Ames junior attack Eric LeBlanc led the way with four goals for the Tigers, while both junior midfielder Jack Lang and senior midfielder Liam Brown registered a pair of goals. Senior Robbie Almeida, junior Owen Gallagher, sophomores Colin Bourne and Cullen Gallagher and freshman Sam Stevens each scored once for OA.

Oliver Ames, 16 @ Milford, 5 – Final – Oliver Ames sophomore Olivia Piazza scored a career-high six goals to pace the Tigers on the road. Junior Emalyn Duvall added a hat trick while juniors Sofia Masciarelli and Chloe Kikelly each registered two goals. OA goalie Ari Waldorf made 13 saves in the cage.

North Attleboro, 16 @ Taunton, 7 – Final – Julia Dakin scored three goals and recorded two assists for the Rocketeers. North also got hat tricks from Kenzie Rosenberg and Camille Pizarro and a goal and three assists from Chloe Olsen. Alana Tavares and Bre Conlon each scored a pair of goals for the Tigers and Lorna Li made seven saves in the loss.

Taunton, 3 vs. Greater New Bedford, 1 – Final – Taunton overcame a one-set deficit to pick up a win over previously unbeaten Greater New Bedford Voke Tech. GNBVT entered the match ranked #3 overall in the state by Mass Boys High School Volleyball while the Tigers were ranked #25. The Bears won the first set 25-15 but Taunton rallied to win the next three, 25-16, 25-17, 25-21. Lance Law led the way with a team-high 17 kills and added a block. Lens Esquil had 11 kills and six blocks, Malik Charles added seven kills and a block and Collin Hunter chipped in with six kills and a block.

Attleboro, 5 @ Stoughton, 14 – Final – Stoughton’s offense exploded for 20 hits with seven players registering at least two hits for the Black Knights. Ruben Gonzalez went 4-for-5 with a triple, three runs and two RBI, Pat Hagerty was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, three runs and two RBI and Jack Connelly was 3-for-4 with a run and three RBI. Luke Johnson (double, triple, 3 RBI), Ryan Sullivan and Nick Hardy each had two hits. Justin Hutchinson (3-for-3, 2 RBI) earned the win on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings with four earned runs. The senior struck out 10, including six straight, and scattered three hits.

Mansfield, 15 @ Canton, 0 – Final – Mansfield scored in each of the first five innings, including six in the third inning to break the game open. The Hornets connected for 15 hits and reached base on 11 walks. Senior Matt Farragher led the way from the nine hole, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored, Anthony DeGirolamo went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored, Max Boen was 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored and Zach Peterson had a pair of hits, an RBI and a run scored. Foxboro, 1 @ King Philip, 2 – Final – Senior Kyle Guenthner initiated a game-ending 4-3 double play as the Warriors hung on for a 2-1 win over Foxboro. Foxboro loaded the bases in the seventh but Guenthner’s double play helped KP survive. Will Weir wen 2-3 with three stolen bases, scoring both of King Philip’s runs. First, Weir had a two-out single in the first inning, stole both second and third and then scored on an error. Weir scored again in the sixth, connecting on another two-out second, stealing second and then scoring on a single from Ben Furfari. Foxboro had tied the game in the fourth when AJ Bubencik singled, stole second and scored on two passed balls. Sophomore Jack Webster got his first career win, tossing two scoreless innings in relief with just two hits allowed. Junior Jackson Sheibler went 4.1 innings, allowing just one hit and one run and junior Jeremy Rhines got the save with a scoreless seventh inning.

Taunton, 3 @ North Attleboro, 2 – Final – North Attleboro seized the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth but Taunton responded, grabbing two runs in the top of the sixth to edge the Rocketeers. The Tigers cashed in on three walks and two hit batters to pushed across the tying and winning run. Taunton’s David Schofield earned the walk to draw in the game-winning run in the top of the sixth. Joe Manchester (1-for-3, run) and Jack Moynihan also had an RBI for Taunton, while Matt Machado had two hits. Moynihan tossed four scoreless innings while striking out five. Danny Keogh earned the win, throwing 2.2 scoreless innings with one strikeout. North Attleboro’s Nate Pearce (3-for-4, double, triple, RBI) allowed just one run in five innings of work. Zach DeMattio added two hits, an RBI and a run and Nick Crawley added a pair of hits for the Rocketeers.

Sharon, 2 @ Oliver Ames, 6 – Final – Oliver Ames got its offense going early, scoring in the first inning for the second straight game and then adding four more runs in the third inning. Junior Mitch Goulet had a pair of hits in the win for the Tigers.

Softball
Attleboro, 2 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final – McKenzie Bergdoll made an impact both in the circle and at the plate, leading the Bombardiers to a walk-off win over Stoughton. Bergdoll tossed a complete game, scattering six hits while striking out nine. Attleboro was the home team despite the change of venue, giving them the opportunity to bat last. In the bottom of the seventh, Bergdoll connected for a double, driving in MacKenzie Killough (2-for-4) for the winning run. AHS head coach Mark Homer said Jordyn Lako and Ashley Macia had strong games defensively for the Bombardiers.

Canton, 7 @ Mansfield, 14 – Final – Megan Letendre pitched a complete game for the Hornets allowing six hits and striking out six batters. She also went 1-for-3 with an RBI at the plate. Kara Bendanillo went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI and Kerran Holmes went 2-for-3 and drove in four runs for Mansfield. Caty DeMassi had three hits and Hayley McGowan had two for the Hornets. Lillian Carrington and Samantha Keefe each hit a home run for the Bulldogs.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Taunton, 8 – Final – Courtney Fisher picked up the win with a complete game, allowing only one run on six hits, while striking out four. MacKenzie Handrahan powered the offense, going 3-for-3 with three RBI, and Kya Enos chipped in with two hits and two RBI and Katie Van Zandt hit a homer for Taunton. North Attleboro junior Amelia Murphy was 2-for-3 with a double.

Boys Lacrosse
Mansfield, 12 @ Attleboro, 5 – Final – Mansfield raced out to a 6-2 lead and kept that pace up in the second half to earn the win over Attleboro. Mansfield junior Hunter Ferreira had his way, scoring eight goals while notching an assist as well. Midfield Joe Cox was a top distributor, recording five assists while finding the back of the net once. Cullen Murphy and Danny DeGirolamo each scored once and had two assists and Sam O’Connell scored once. Sean Powers made nine saves in net for the Hornets.

Oliver Ames, 0 @ Foxboro, 6 – Final – Foxboro goalie Jake Addeche turned away 11 shuts and Pat Stapleton had a strong game on defense with five groundballs as the Warriors blanked Oliver Ames. Foxboro scored three goals in each half, led by Trey Guerini’s two goals and one assist. Sophomore Pete Conley scored once and had two assists while Brendan Tully, Mike Collins and Sam Blake each scored once in the win.

North Attleboro, 6 @ Franklin, 7 – Final – Franklin held a 3-2 lead at half, extended it to 7-3 early in the fourth quarter and then held off North Attleboro’s late charge of three straight goals. Franklin goalie Connor O’Rourke had 10 saves and came up big in the final minute as the Panthers held on to their one goal lead. Chase Tanner scored twice and had one assist to lead the Panthers, Kyle McEinry and Packie Watson each scored once and had an assist, Sam Arsenault had a pair of assists and Nitin Chaudhury and Jake Davis each scored once. North Attleboro’s Dan MacDonald made 15 saves to keep the Rocketeers in the contest while both Jack Dakin and Zach McGowan scored twice and had one assist. Tommy Lindstrom added a goal and an assist and Nick Moore also found the back of the net for Big Red.

Sharon, 6 @ King Philip, 14 – Final – The Warriors opened the season with a win as senior Tim Watson accounted for eight points and classmate Paul Macrina made 13 saves in goal. Watson scored five goals and had three assists while sophomore Colin DeVellis scored twice and had three assists. John DeLuca scored twice and had one assist and Zach D’Amico had one goal, one assist and 11 groundballs for the Warriors.

Foxboro, 16 @ Oliver Ames, 4 – Final – Oliver Ames goalie Ari Waldorf made 19 saves for the Tigers while head coach Abby Tepper said Sydney Hedrick had a strong game on defense.

North Attleboro, 7 @ Franklin, 13 – Final – North Attleboro took a 4-3 lead into the halftime break but Franklin’s offense came to life with 10 second half goals. Seven different Panthers found the back of the net, led by senior Kendall Reardon’s four goals. Annie Walsh, Erin Walsh and Kelsey MacCallum each scored two goals for Franklin. Freshman Gianna Cameron made nine saves in net while head coach Kristin Igoe Guarino said freshman Alex Field played well defensively and on the draw.

King Philip, 13 @ Sharon, 7 – Final – King Philip raced out to a 8-2 lead at halftime and never looked back to open the season with a win over Sharon. Katie Crowther, Meg Wagner and Caroline Klim each scored a pair of goals in the for the Warriors while Alli Meehan, Angela Vellante, Dana Truini, Victoria Tormey and MacKenzie Mazur each scored once. Caroline Watson made 13 saves in net for KP.

Taunton, 12 @ Milford, 11 – Final (OT) – Taunton won its second game in a row to start the season thanks to a game-winning overtime goal by eighth grader Alana Tavares, her sixth of the game and 11th in the first two games of her varsity career. Delaney Powell chipped in with three goals for the Tigers and Lorna Li made 12 saves. Emily Hayley had three goals for the Hawks, while Jordyn Lombardo, Taylor Dube, and Jill Burley each had two.

Boys Tennis
Stoughton, 2 @ Attleboro, 3 – Final – Attleboro’s Shawn Gordon and Abdul Khatib each won three set thrillers to help the Bombardiers edge Stoughton and pick up their first win of the season. Shawn Gordon won 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 at first singles and Khatib won 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 at third singles. The team of Eli Araujo and Ryan Gordon picked up a 6-0, 6-4 win at second doubles. Stoughton’s Tony Jordan won 6-1, 6-3 at second singles and the team of Jon Podesta and Erik Anderson won 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 at first doubles.

Foxboro, 3 @ King Philip, 2 – Final – Foxboro’s Andre Jabari won the deciding match, winning in a three-set thriller at second singles to help the Warriors edge King Philip. Jabari dropped the first set 6-7 (7-9) but battled back to win the next two 6-3, 6-3 to earn Foxboro the win. Foxboro swept doubles play for its other two points. The team Shawn McNamara and Matt Tierney won 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 at first doubles and Brandon Wasserman and Ben Dorman won 6-4, 6-2 at second doubles. King Philip’s Cole Ginter won 6-1, 6-1 at first singles and Blake Ginter won 6-3, 6-3 at third singles.

Milford, 0 @ Franklin, 5 – Final – Franklin picked up a sweep, winning all five matches in straight sets to beat Milford. Rahul Herur won 6-3, 6-4 at first singles, Eli Brooks won 6-3, 6-0 at second singles and Rohan Herur won 6-3, 6-2 at third singles. The team of James Johnston and Derek Wu won 6-0, 6-3 at first doubles and Tyler DiPalma and Rahul Hosdurg paired together for a 6-0, 6-0 win at second doubles.

North Attleboro, 5 @ Taunton, 0 – Final – North Attleboro etched its first tally into the win column for 2017 with a sweep on the road at Taunton. Senior Zac Pfeffer won 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 at first singles, senior Dan Zhang won 6-4, 6-2 at second singles and junior Alex Rinaldi won at third singles without dropping game, 6-0, 6-0. Junior Ben Pfeffer and senior Andrew Harris won 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles and senior Mayank Wadekar and sophomore Vikram Senthilakumaran won 6-3, 6-1 at second doubles.

Mansfield, 4 @ Canton, 1 – Final – The Hornets of Mansfield took care of singles play, winning all three in straight sets and also grabbed a win in doubles to beat Canton. Paulina Martin won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, Sarah Doyle took second singles 6-1, 6-0 and Elizabeth Elsner won 6-1, 6-0 at third singles. Mansfield’s fourth win came from the team of Chloe Peters and Tessa Garufi, notching a 6-0, 6-1 victory at first doubles. Canton’s Jenna Paynter and Stelina Michaelidis won 6-1, 6-1 at second doubles.

King Philip, 2 @ Foxboro, 3 – Final – Foxboro swept singles play to edge King Philip on Wednesday afternoon. Sophia Prinos won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, Lexi Nelson didn’t lose a game in a 6-0, 6-0 victory at second singles and Julia Muise won 7-5, 6-1 at third singles to clinch the win for the Warriors. King Philip’s Corrine Palumbo and Carly Adams won 6-4, 6-1 at first doubles and the team of Lucy Barnard and Caitlin Gonser won 6-2, 6-3 at second doubles.

Franklin, 3 @ Milford, 2 – Final – Franklin won in straight sets at first and second singles and then used three-set win at second doubles to edge the Scarlet Hawks. Senior Hannah Sweeney didn’t drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles and classmate Anja Deric won 6-1, 6-4 at second doubles. The team of senior Julia Hogan and junior Jillian McLaughlin won the deciding point with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 decision at second doubles. Milford’s Caitlin Cafarella won 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) at third singles and the team of seniors Victoria Beyer and Daniella Arojo won 6-2, 6-4 at first doubles.

Taunton, 1 @ North Attleboro, 4 – Final – North Attleboro had to claw back at both first singles and first doubles to claim a win over North Attleboro in a rematch of last season’s epic playoff showdown. North’s Emily Chiasson dropped the first set 0-6 but rallied back to win the next two, 6-4, 6-1. The team of Gabby Duva and Azka Siddiq fell behind after losing the first set 2-6, but won a huge tiebreaker 10-8 to win the second set 7-6 and then took the third 6-3. Jordan Willis won 6-1, 6-0 at second singles and the team of Katie Demontigny and Hana Hershey won 6-0, 6-3 at second doubles for Big Red. Taunton’s Jillian Pagliuca won 6-0, 6-2 at third singles for the Tigers.

Oliver Ames, 1 @ Sharon, 4 – Final – Sophomore Nupur Shukla and freshman Emily Zhang won in straight sets, at first and second singles respectively, without dropping a game as the Eagles picked up the win. The team of juniors Katie Merport and Emily Wen won 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles and sophomore Sachi Bhasin and Sydney Gordon won 6-0, 6-3 at second doubles. Oliver Ames freshman Maura Kiernan made her varsity debut with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win at third singles.

Taunton, 3 @ North Quincy, 0 – Final – Taunton picked up its third straight sweep and second in a row on the road with a 25-14, 25-21, 25-21 win over North Quincy. The Tigers used a balanced attack with Lens Esquil leading the way with 12 kills and three blocks. Malik Charles added six kills and one block, David Fusiecki had six kills and four aces and Collin Hunter had five kills and two blocks.

Franklin, 11 vs. Falmouth, 6 – Final – Franklin coach Lou Verrochi said junior Eric Civetti was unstoppable and sophomore Jacob Alexander dominated in the face off X to pace the Panthers past a senior-laden Falmouth side. Civetti scored five goals and had two assists while Alexander won nearly 80% of the draws. Junior Connor O’Rourke made 10 saves in goal and Verrochi said Wyatt Arsenault, Patrick Morrison and Spencer Briggs played very well defensively. Verrochi added LSM Jack Platner, short stick defensive midfielder Will Harvey and Aaron Mallo all played well. Chase Tanner scored twice and added an assist, Sam Arsenault had a goal and an assist, Packie Watson notched two heklpers and Kyle McEniry, Nitin Chaudury and freshman Jake Davis each scored once.

Girls Lacrosse
Franklin, 12 vs. Needham, 7 – Final – Franklin led by just a goal (6-5) at halftime but had a very strong second half to open the season with a win over the Rockets. Freshman Erin Walsh impressed in her debut, netting a team-high four goals to pace the Panthers. Classmate Gianna Cameron also had a solid debut in goal, registering 10 saves in net. Halle Atkinson added three goals and Kendall Reardon notched two goals and an assist. Head coach Kristin Igoe Guarino said senior Grace McDermott played well defensively with five caused turnovers.

Taunton, 4 @ Coyle & Cassidy, 1 – Final – The Tigers opened the 2017 campaign with a victory over rival Coyle, taking wins at first and second singles and both doubles. Sophomore Brett Beaulieu won 7-6, 6-2 at first singles and junior Mike Briggs took a 7-6, 6-0 decision at second singles. The team of sophomores Charlie Fisk and Dylan Kullas won 6-4, 6-0 at first doubles and sophomore Trevor Hart and junior Kyle Dennehy teamed up for a 6-4, 6-3 win at second doubles.

Taunton, 5 vs. Coyle & Cassidy, 0 – Final – The Tigers started the season with a clean sweep of rival Coyle at home on Thursday afternoon. Olivia Sweeney (first singles) and Jordan Pagliuca (second singles) both won 6-0, 6-0, while Jillian Pagliuca won 6-0, 6-1 at third singles. The teams of Emily Moor and Caroline Hebert (first doubles) and Jordan Martin and Vanessa Rosa (second doubles) each won 6-1, 6-0.

Taunton, 3 vs. Braintree, 0 – Final – Taunton picked up the sweep (25-22, 25-19, 25-21) over the Wamps to begin the season. Junior Lance Law paced the offense with nine kills, four aces and two blocks while adding 11 digs. Nate Grant finished with 20 assists and three kills and Lens Esquil had six kills, an ace and a block for the Tigers.

Senior Thomas McCormick iced the game for the Tigers, finding the back of the net in the final minutes of the match. Junior Cam Vella assisted on both of the goals while Jack Carroll earned the shutout.

Franklin, 2 @ Xaverian, 1 – Final – Franklin rallied from a one goal deficit with a pair of second half goals to earn the win. Farley Asmath scored off an assist from Cam LeBlanc to tie the game while Kevin Hall scored the game winner for the Panthers.

Girls Soccer
Sharon, 1 @ Oliver Ames, 5 – Final – Francesca Calabraro scored four goals for the Tigers. Julia Roy had the other goal for Oliver Ames. Alex Rabb scored the opening goal of the game for the Eagles, who trailed 2-1 at halftime.

Volleyball
Attleboro, 0 @ Stoughton, 3 – Final

King Philip, 3 @ Foxboro, 0 – Final – The Warriors of Foxboro gave the Warriors of King Philip a big test but KP emerged with a 25-19, 26-24, 28-26 win, one head coach Kristen Geuss described as “hard earned.” Sydney Phillips led KP’s attack with 13 kills while Emma Lopez chipped in six kills.

Franklin, 1 @ Milford, 3 – Final – Milford won 29-27, 25-15, 21-25, 25-13. Kelley Reichert led the Hawks with 11 kills and Ally Zagami had seven kills and 17 digs in the win.

Attleboro, 2 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final – Attleboro scored once in the first half and once in the second half, while keeping the Black Knights off the board until the final minutes of the game to get the win. Kate LeBlanc put the Bombardiers in front with an unassisted goal in the first half. LeBlanc doubled Attleboro’s lead in the second half on assists from Eliza Sabilla and Ally Pierce. Jackie Evangelista scored her first varsity goal for Stoughton.

Mansfield, 1 @ Canton, 0 – Final – Caitlin Whitman had the lone goal of the game for the Hornets, scoring an unassisted tally midway through the second half.

King Philip, 1 @ Foxboro, 0 – Final – King Philip followed the game plan they set in place and executed across the field in a big 1-0 league win over Foxboro. Caitlin Donahue scored the lone goal of the game off of an assist from Liz Furfari.

Franklin, 5 @ Milford, 1 – Final – Senior Alex Sullivan and senior Brayden Downing found the back of the cage in the first half as the Panthers built a 2-0 lead by halftime. Junior Kate Morse had a pair of goals off of corners with assists coming from Maddie Hinkley (her second) and Cassi Ronan. Caroline Lounsbury capped the scoring off an assist from freshman Maeve Ledwith. Senior Sam Hertzberg made a pair of saves, including one on a breakaway, to earn her first win. Shannon Cormier scored Milford’s goal in the game.

Taunton, 0 @ North Attleboro, 2 – Final – Taunton’s defense had a strong showing but couldn’t convert on the offensive end as North Attleboro picked up the win. Taunton received strong performances from Katie Van Zandt, Annie Tate, Liana Duarte, Bre Conlon, Jillian Pagliuca and Kya Enos.

Oliver Ames, 7 @ Sharon, 0 – Final – Oliver Ames continued to roll to start the season with a big win on the road. Sarah Stevens and Dimitra Efremidis each netted a pair of goals for the Tigers with Kendall Clifford, Rachel Stryke and Shannon Cahill each scoring once. Kayla Lozzi had two assists in the win while Liz Nuss and Efremidis each had one helper.

Oliver Ames, 148 @ Stoughton, 181 – Oliver Ames picked up its second win of the season, defeating Stoughton at Easton Country Club. Brady Allbritton led the Tigers with a 36 while Nick Lombardi and Eric LeBlanc each shot 37, and Mark Bissonette and Matt Kelley each carded a round of 38. Stoughton’s Brendan Campbell shot a 43.

King Philip, 157 @ North Attleboro, 144 – Final – North Attleboro senior Robbie Congdon shot a one under par 34 at Heather Hills to lead the Red Rocketeers, who moved to 3-0 on the season.

Milford, 175 @ Foxboro, 182 – Final – Ryan Tomaso shot 37 to lead Milford, while Matt Tierney lead Foxboro with a 41

Taunton, 175 @ Attleboro, 170 – Final – The Attleboro Bombardiers picked up their first win of the season in their home opener at Highland Country Club. Ethan Johnson led Attleboro, shooting a 40 while Kyle DelSignore and Corey McKenna each registered a round of 42. Taunton’s Mike Volkmann was the match medalist, shooting a 39.

Milford, 2 vs. Hopedale, 1 – Final – Freshman Juliana France off an assist from junior Leeanne Kibbee and Kristen Franzini from an assist by freshman Ashleigh Starks scored the Milford goals. Hawks coach Jay Mastaj said Nicole Dahlgren stood out defensively.
