Attleboro, 0 @ Milford, 3 – FinalMilford head coach Brian Edwards made a tactical change, moving Walisson de Oliveira up the pitch into a striker’s role and the sophomore responded with his first career hat trick. De Oliveira opened the scoring in the 10th minute on a feed from Anthony Salvador. The Hawks doubled the lead in the 60th minute when de Oliveira converted a chance from Joey Madden. The sophomore capped his scoring with a shot from nearly 30-yards out in the 75th minute. Edwards added that Filipe Da Silva also played a great game up top for the Scarlet Hawks.

Oliver Ames, 3 @ Foxboro, 1 – FinalOliver Ames set the tone early, scoring inside the first minutes, to take two points on the road at Foxboro. Matt Alvarado took a feed from Cam Vella to put the visitors ahead. Foxboro’s Shane VandenBoom tied the game 10 minutes later but OA went back ahead in the 23rd minute when Alvarado set up Mason Galbato. Jack Sheldon netted an olimpico – directly off a corner kick – in the 50th minute to give the Tigers a two-goal cushion.

Franklin, 2 @ Stoughton, 0 – FinalFranklin sophomore Donny Tappin factored into both of the Panthers’ goals, helping take two points on the road at Stoughton. Tappin opened the scoring on a feed from classmate Jacob Cummings and then set up senior Will Conley for the Panthers’ second tally.

King Philip, 2 @ Sharon, 1 – FinalJust two minutes after Sharon equalized the game, King Philip netted the game-winner to take two points on the road. Senior Tyler Mann opened the scoring in the 66th minute, netting a shot from outside the area to put the Warriors up 1-0. Sharon’s Spencer Hall leveled the match in the 73rd minute but Thomas Lugten found the winner for KP off a cross from Zac White in the 75th minute.

Mansfield, 0 @ North Attleboro, 1 – FinalNorth Attleboro senior Gabe Pinhancos scored the lone goal of the game just under five minutes into the second half to give the Rocketeers a berth in the MIAA state tournament. Ryan Pasquel played a low service on a corner, which was dummied by Zach Matracia. Pinhancos then latched onto the ball inside the area to beat the keeper.

Girls Soccer
Milford, 1 @ Attleboro, 1 – FinalJuliana France scored the goal for the Hawks to earn a point on the road.

Foxboro, 1 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – FinalJackie Mills scored a hat trick for the Tigers, while Sofia Masciarelli, Anna Tempestoso and Abby Reardon had assists for OA. Mackenzie Fraser scored the lone goal for the Warriors.

Stoughton, 0 @ Franklin, 5 – FinalMiranda Smith got the Franklin offense going with a pair of goals, while Anna Balkus added a goal and an assist for the Panthers. Halle Atkinson and Olivia Dellorco also scored in the win and Molly Duncan, Erin Quaile, and Calen Frongillo had assists. According to Stoughton coach Tara Daniels, Victoria Fallon had a “strong game” and showed off “her versatility and leadership as a center back.”

Sharon, 0 @ King Philip, 4 – FinalChloe Layne scored a brace and recorded an assist and Ally Stanton had a goal and an assist for the Warriors. Layne opened the scoring in the eighth minute off an assist by Hanna Balunos and then assisted on a goal by Avery Snead four minutes later. In the 55th minute, Layne scored her second on an assist by Stanton and then Stanton wrapped up the win with a 20-yard strike to the far post assisted by Abby Baker.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Mansfield, 1 – FinalAshlyn Gaulin opened the scoring for North Attleboro off a first half corner, but Emily Vigeant equalized with a 30-yard free kick in the second half to send both defending league champs home with a point apiece. “It was a great game,” said North head coach Bill Wallace. Wallace added that Rachel LaBonte and Sam Hawkins “played incredible in the back” for the Rocketeers while Haley Guertin had a strong two-way game. Mansfield coach Kevin Smith added that both defenses “played fantastic.”

King Philip, 1 vs. Algonquin, 1 – FinalKing Philip’s Alli Meehan scored the lone goal for the Warriors, converting an assist from Liz Furfari.

Taunton, 1 @ Canton, 3 – FinalAfter splitting the first two games, Canton earned two straight wins to get the 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-11, 25-19) win over Taunton. Rose Hazam had a strong all-around game with eight kills, six aces and 13 digs for the Bulldogs while Hannah Jerrier added 11 kills. Nicole Brown (four kills) paced the offense with 21 assists while Megan McDonough, Sofia Connor and Julia Minichiello had strong performances defensively for Canton.

Oliver Ames, 3 @ Foxboro, 0 – FinalThe Tigers picked up a sweep (25-14, 25-18, 25-16) on the road to grab the team’s fifth win of the season – all coming in the last six games. Sophomore Ally Kemp led OA with 25 assists, junior Sadie Homer added 13 digs, and senior Kayla Raymond finished with seven kills and a pair of blocks. OAHS head coach Chelsea Cunningham added that junior Caitlin Cavanaugh played a great game on the outside.

Franklin, 1 @ Stoughton, 3 – FinalAfter falling 25-27 in the first set, Stoughton’s Molly Turner started the second game with 10 service points, including four aces, and the Black Knights never looked back in rattling off three straight wins. Seniors Jordan Motley, Val Whalen and Vicky Ramos combined for over 30 kills for Stoughton. Lauren Lockhart led Franklin with eight kills while Meaghan Maguire (three blocks) added seven kills and Maggie Doyle (five blocks) had six kills. Lauren Bissanti finished with seven digs and three aces for the Panthers.

Mansfield, 0 @ North Attleboro, 3 – FinalNorth Attleboro was pushed to the limit for the first two games, but prevailed with wins in both and went on the complete the 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-16) sweep of Mansfield. Anna Caristi recorded a team-high 11 kills for the Rocketeers while Kezie De La Cruz had 10 kills, three aces and two blocks. Meg Hill led Mansfield with 13 kills, Julia Harrison added six kills and 10 digs and Jolie O’Neil had 10 digs and 11 service points for the Hornets.

King Philip, 3 @ Sharon, 0 – FinalKing Philip picked up a sweep on the road, leaving Sharon with a 25-12, 25-15, 25-13 win to improved to 11-1. Sydney Phillips had eight kills, four digs, three aces and 10 service points, Michaela Palumbo added five kills and Julianne Rando finished with seven digs and eight service points, including an ace. Both Elise Pereira (six digs, two aces, eight service points) and Rachael Veilleux (nine service points, five aces) had strong serving performances for KP.

Golf
Attleboro, 160 @ Oliver Ames, 145 – FinalOliver Ames improved to 8-0 with a win over visiting Attleboro in a Kelley-Rex showdown. Ryan McGarry earned match medalist honors, carding a low-round of 35. Nolan Donze (36), Thomas Walsh (37) and Mark Bissonette (37) also had strong days for the Tigers. Corey McKenna led Attleboro with a team-low round of 37.

Mansfield, 3 @ Attleboro, 0 – FinalMansfield senior Cullin Anastasia netted a pair of second half goals as the Hornets secured a shutout win on the road. Jackson Murphy opened the scoring for the visitors, converting a chance from Sean Lanzillo to take a 1-0 lead into the break. Murphy then set up Anastasia for Mansfield’s second goal and John Cooney recorded to assist on the final tally. Nick Ferraz recorded his third shutout in net.

Canton, 0 @ Milford, 2 – Final Milford junior Anthony Salvador scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the first half, and then drew a penalty late in the second half to help the Hawks record a shutout win over visiting Canton. Wallison De Oliveira converted the penalty kick to seal the win. MHS head coach Brian Edwards praised the defensive efforts of senior Jacob Balzarini.

Stoughton, 0 @ Foxboro, 8 – FinalHussein Kafel, Joe Cusack, and Nick Esposito each scored a brace for the Warriors. Shane Vandenboom had a pair of assists, Cam Cass had a goal and an assist, and Matt Rongione had the other goal for Foxboro. Click here for a photo gallery from this game.

Taunton, 1 @ Franklin, 4 – FinalOne senior and three juniors each recorded a goal for Franklin in the Panthers’ win at home. Senior Liam Kapples along with juniors Nitin Chaudhury, Nasir Brahimi and Sam Molloy each found the back of the net once for FHS.

King Philip, 1 @ Oliver Ames, 4 – FinalOliver Ames scored a pair of goals in each half in a key division win over visiting King Philip. Senior Michael Nikiciuk opened the scoring while classmate Brandin Osborne made it 2-0 by half. Mason Galbato converted a flick from Nathaniel Cardoza off a long throw in by Chris Lawrence to make it 3-0 and minutes later, senior Matt Alvarado made it 4-0. In the final minute of play, KP junior John Cullen played a through ball to freshman Camron Lawrence who played across to freshman Ajae Olsen for the finish.

North Attleboro, 2 @ Sharon, 1 – FinalNorth Attleboro took the lead inside the first 10 minutes and netted the game-winner midway through the second half to pick up a key division win on the road. Sophomore Dylan Corrigan opened the scoring in the sixth minute, converting a long goal kick from Zach Matracia. Gabe Pinhancos doubled the lead in the 63rd minute on a feed from Ryan Pasquel. Sharon sophomore Michael Baur converted a penalty kick in the 76th minute. NA goalie Brendan Matracia made three key saves down the stretch for the Rocketeers.

Girls Soccer
Attleboro, 1 @ Mansfield, 4 – FinalStephanie Kemp scored a brace and Cassidy McMahon had a goal and an assist for the Hornets, who stayed perfect on the season. Attleboro battled throughout and cut the Mansfield lead to 2-1 midway through the second half on a goal by Julia Reyes, assisted by Alison Wall. As the Bombardiers pushed forward for an equalizer, Mansfield scored two more to seal the two points. Madison Brown made 12 saves in the loss and, according to coach Steve Santos, Jordyn Forte and Julia Hayes played well on defense.

Canton, 3 @ Milford, 3 – FinalMilford got a pair of goals from Juliana France and one from Maggie Boyle to earn a draw against the Bulldogs. According to Milford coach Jay Mastaj, Ashleigh Starks also played well for the Hawks.

Foxboro, 4 @ Stoughton, 1 – FinalStoughton took the lead on the Warriors with a goal by Nicole Weir, assisted by Gabbi Diaz. Foxboro responded with four straight goals to get the win, including a pair of goals from Lily Sykes. Katelyn Mollica scored the eventual game-winner before halftime and Jordyn Collins scored early in the second half, before Sykes wrapped up the win with a shot from distance. According to Stoughton coach Tara Daniels, outside backs Cintia Khouzami and Sarina Hutchinson had “outstanding” games.

Franklin @ Taunton – Postponed to 9/20 at 4:00.

Oliver Ames, 2 @ King Philip, 1 – FinalChloe Layne scored a penalty kick to give the Warriors the lead in the fifth minute, but OA bounced back with two goals before halftime to hand KP its first loss of the season. Abby Hodges scored off an Sophia Cox corner kick to tie the game and Erin Holmberg bent a corner directly in for what turned out to be the game-winner. Regan Benton made 14 saves for the Tigers and drew praise from KP coach Gary Pichel, who said that Benton was “clearly one of the best goalkeepers in the state.” OA coach Britt Sellmayer said that Maeve Hogan played a strong game in the OA defense.

Sharon, 0 @ North Attleboro, 5 – FinalIt took North only 58 seconds to jump into the lead with a goal from Kayla Pasquel, assisted by Ashlyn Gaulin. Aine Mendonca made it two off another Gaulin assist and Leah Jette made it 3-0 off a Pasquel assist. Gaulin added a pair of second half goals, one off a Haley Guertin shot and the second on an assist by Mackenzie Rosenberg. Emma Noreck had the clean sheet for North and head coach Bill Wallace praised Aly Blaisdell, Felicity Monfils, Britta MacDonald, Haley Ferrin and Emma Gaulin for strong play on both ends of the field.

Field Hockey
Mansfield, 6 @ Attleboro, 1 – FinalSenior Ann Maher scored a hat trick to pace Mansfield to a win on the road. Heather D’Ambra, Brooke Downey and Haley Crawford each tallied once for the Hornets in the win.

King Philip, 5 @ Oliver Ames, 0 – FinalKing Philip’s Christina Hathaway scored and had an assist in the first half, helping the Warriors build a 2-0 lead at the break. Hathaway scored on a feed from Nicole Conor and then set up a goal by Liz Furfari. Furfari made it 3-0 of a pass from Alli Meehan and then Meehan netted the final two goals, one set up by Olivia Kulesza. Abby Campbell turned away three shots in net.

North Attleboro, 8 @ Sharon, 0 – Final

Mansfield, 3 @ Attleboro, 1 – FinalAfter splitting the first two sets, Mansfield rattled off two wins to earn the victory on the road (25-23, 19-25, 25-16, 25-16). Julia Harrison had eight kills while Mikayla Kearney had seven digs and eight service points. Emma Ascoli added 14 service points and 24 assists for the Hornets while Jolie O’Neil chipped in with 10 service points.

Milford, 1 @ Canton, 3 – FinalMilford earned a win in the first set but Canton rallied back to win the next three and take the victory (21-25, 25-12, 26-24, 29-27). Nicole Brown ran the Canton’s offense with 37 assists, Taylor Harris had 13 kills and four aces and Rose Hazam and Erin Devine combined for 14 kills. CHS head coach Pat Cawley said Theresa O’Brien provided a spark off the bench with 14 service points.

Stoughton, 3 @ Foxboro, 0 – FinalThe Black Knights stretched their unbeaten streak to six wins to start the season with a 25-14, 25-12, 25-14 sweep of Foxboro. SHS junior Hanna Holden had a strong game with 14 assists and 9 digs while senior Haley Stone and junior Mia Bennett were solid in the back row combining for over 30 digs. 

Taunton, 0 @ Franklin, 3 – FinalFranklin’s Ellie Wisniewski had a strong well-rounded game, leading the Panthers to a sweep at home. Wisniewski had seven kills, five aces and two digs while Meaghan Maguire added eight kills and Lauren McGrath finished with 24 assists, three digs, three aces and two kills.

Sharon, 0 @ North Attleboro, 3 – FinalNorth Attleboro survived a late push from visiting Sharon to complete a sweep (25-11, 25-12, 26-24) and move to 5-0. Senior Kezia De La Cruz had 13 kills and two assists, senior Amelia Murphy added nine kills and senior Leah Marceau paced the offense with 20 assists and four aces.

King Philip, 3 @ Oliver Ames, 0 – FinalKing Philip went on the road to pick up a sweep of the Tigers, 25-19, 25-11, 25-12. Alli Meehan had four goals while Christina Hathaway recorded two assists. Claire Lawler, Nicole Connors and Caroline Klim each scored once for the Warriors.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Canton, 7 – FinalMaggie Malloy netted a hat trick and Andrea McNeil registered four points as Canton picked up a key division win at home over North Attleboro. McNeil scored once and added three assists.

Foxboro, 6 @ Sharon, 0 – Final

Taunton, 1 @ Mansfield, 1 – FinalTaunton took the lead seven minutes into the second half but Mansfield found the equalizer less than two minutes later to settle for a draw. Diana Brens put Taunton ahead on an assist from Liana Duarte while Kristina O’Connell tied the game with the assist going to Ann Maher. THS head coach Liz Hathaway said Brens, Duarte, Mabel Smith and Jillian Pagliuca had strong performances for the Tigers while Emma Sheehan totaled seven saves in net.

Stoughton, 3 @ Milford, 4 – Final Milford’s Shannon Cormier scored twice and assisted on the game-winning goal to help the Hawks edge visiting Stoughton. The Hawks erased a pair of first half deficits and took a 3-2 lead into the break on Cormier’s second goal, assists by Kate Wimette. The Black Knights tied the game up at 3-3 but Cormier set up Danielle Fokas for the game-winner. Fokas also had an assist while Ashlyn Olivieri scored once on an assist from Bella Gonzalez. Alanna McCormick, Julia Russell and Jordan Lyons scored for Stoughton.

Milford, 182 @ Sharon, 171 – FinalSharon’s Corey Carter carded a match medalist round of 40 to lead the Eagles to a win over Milford. Zach Tammaro paced the Hawks with a round of 42.

Attleboro, 167 @ Stoughton, 186 – Final – FinalKyle DelSignore earned match medalist honors for the Bombardiers, shooting a low-round of 38. Taron Mills added a 42 and Ethan Johnson shot 43. Stoughton’s Brendan Campbell carded a team-low round of 39.

Foxboro, 166 @ Canton, 155 – FinalCanton’s Danny Powers and Joey Vaughan shared match medalist honors for the second straight day, each carding a low round of 38 in the Bulldogs’ win. Jack Goyetch added a 39 for Canton while Noah Hicks and Matt Lathrop led Foxboro, each carding a round of 41.

Taunton, 276 @ Coyle & Cassidy, 292 – FinalTaunton’s Jack Patneuade shot a team-low round of 38 to lead the Tigers to a win over rival Coyle in a match that counted six cards. Jack Giebel shot a 42 and Spencer Andrews carded a round of 45 for Taunton.

Canton, 2 @ Mansfield, 4 – FinalMansfield netted a pair of goals in each half in a win over visiting Canton. Senior Sam Hyland finished with a goal and three assists to pace the Hornets. Hyland opened the scoring 10 minutes into the match, taking a through ball from Luke Savoie. Five minutes later, Nick Wisnieski netted his first goal, finishing a throw from Hyland. Early in the second half, Wisnieski made it 3-0 off a cross from Hyland but Canton quickly made it a one-goal game. Junior Griffin Roach scored a pair of goals in a 10-minute span to make it 3-2 but Jared Gabrilowitz nodded home a throw from Hyland in the 79th minute to ice the game.

Foxboro, 0 @ King Philip, 1 – FinalKing Philip found the game winner in the final five minutes for the second straight game. Tony Bozza played a 1-2 combination with senior Thomas Lugten to get in behind the defense and the junior calmly finished in the 78th minute to give the Warriors two points.

Milford, 1 @ Franklin, 2 – FinalFranklin netted a pair of second half goals to erase a one goal deficit to earn its first win of the 2017 season. Milford’s Andre Oliveira put the visitors ahead in the first half but Franklin drew level midway through the second half. Sophomore Jacob Cummings made it 1-1 before the Panthers found the winner in the final two minutes. Sophomore Sam Stowell buried a penalty kick for the game-winner. Milford head coach Brian Edwards said Lucas Caetano had a strong game for the Hawks at left back.

North Attleboro, 2 @ Taunton, 2 – FinalTaunton netted the go-ahead goal with less than five minutes to play but North Attleboro found an equalizer with just two minutes to play to earn a draw. The Tigers took the lead in the fourth minute when Francois Hennaux capitalized on a ball over the top and scored on a breakaway. North tied the game in the 60th minute when Gabe Pinhancos volleyed home a cross from Connor MacIver. The Tigers regained the lead when Liam Crowley buried a penalty kick but Pinhancos netted his second, again on a volley, on a cross from junior Joe Hilf.

Sharon, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – FinalOliver Ames scored twice late in the second half to earn two points against Sharon. After hitting the post twice, the Tigers converted when senior Matt Alvarado’s cross found classmate Brandin Osborne, who buried his chance in front. Just before the halftime whistle, Alvarado found Nathaniel Cardoza, who rocketed his shot off the crossbar and in from distance for OA’s second goal.

Mansfield, 5 @ Canton, 3 – FinalCassidy McMahon scored a brace for the Hornets, including the eventual game-winner in the second half, to help the Hornets hold off Canton in what Mansfield coach Kevin Smith called “a great game.” Bryn Anderson opened the scoring for the Hornets and Emily Vigeant added a second off a free kick. Canton got one back before McMahon scored her first for a 3-1 halftime lead. The Bulldogs again cut the lead to one but McMahon’s second made it 4-2. With five minutes left, Canton made it a one-goal game, but Emma Oldow sealed the points with Mansfield’s fifth.

King Philip, 4 @ Foxboro, 2 – Final KP scored three goals in the opening 12 minutes of the second half to overcome a one-goal deficit and make it four wins in four games. Ally Stanton scored the opener for KP off an assist by Avery Snead. Foxboro took the lead before halftime as Jordyn Collins scored off a Lily Sykes assist and the returned the favor by assisting on a Sykes goal. Chloe Layne tied it four minutes into the second half off an Emma Corcoran pass and then assisted on a goal by Snead three minutes later to take the lead for good. Five minutes later, Makayla Griffin scored off an Abby Baker assist to wrap up the scoring.

Franklin, 1 @ Milford, 0 – FinalAccording to Milford coach Jay Mastaj, Brianna Braza, Rachel LeBlanc and Maddie Boyle played well on defense and Julianna France and Leeanne Kibbee had good games in what he called, “a strong team effort.”

Taunton, 0 @ North Attleboro, 4 – FinalNorth Attleboro’s offense clicked on Monday, creating 21 shots and 11 corners. Haley Guertin opened the scoring in the first half off an Emily Chiasson assist, then created a second goal for Leah Jette. Jette then set up Ashley Gaulin to make it 3-0 and Britta MacDonald closed out the scoring off an assist by Meghan Slaney. Rachel Labonte played well defensively to secure the clean sheet.

Oliver Ames, 4 @ Sharon, 2 – FinalJackie Mills scored a brace for the Tigers, while Briana Gibson and Abby Hodges each added a goal apiece. Ally Filipkowski scored on a header off a Bridget McManus pass and Sabrina Robbins scored her first varsity goal off an assist by Bella Berger. All six goals were scored in the final 25 minutes of the game.

Field Hockey
Attleboro, 7 @ Sharon, 0 – FinalAttleboro’s Grace Mayer and Alex Compton each recorded a hat trick in the Bombardiers win on the road. Abigail Boudreau added the other goal for Attleboro while Katie Pelletier turned away eight shots for the shutout.

King Philip, 2 @ Canton, 0 – FinalKing Philip finally broke through in the second half, netting a pair of goals to beat Canton on the road. The Warriors had a large advantage in shots in the game. Alli Meehan opened the scoring with 12 minutes left in the game and then Christina Hathaway added an insurance goal, finishing a corner on an assist from Dana Truini with less than three minutes to play. Canton senior goalie Riley Brown made 25 saves, including denying a penalty stroke.

Mansfield, 1 @ Stoughton, 0 – FinalMansfield’s Tori Farrington scored the lone goal of the game, finding the back of the net just before the midway point of the second half to help the Hornets earn a win on the road. Mansfield’s Kayla Hunter made four saves in the second half to preserve the shutout. Stoughton’s Gianna Barbosa made 15 saves in net for the Black Knights.

Taunton, 6 @ Milford, 1 – FinalTaunton senior Kya Enos found the back of the four times and registered one assist to lead the Tigers to a big win on the road. Enos scored Taunton’s first two goals, the latter on an assist from freshman Alana Tavares. Diana Brens made it 3-0 on a feed from Enos and then Enos scored two straight goals, the first from Jillian Pagliuca. Lauren Torres capped the scoring with an assist from Mabel Smith. Junior Emma Sheehan made seven saves in the win. THS head coach Liz Hathaway said Smith, Tavares and Kathryn Robinson had strong games for the Tigers.

Oliver Ames, 2 @ North Attleboro, 2 – FinalKayla Lozzi and Liz Nuss each scored for Oliver Ames while Caitlin Grant made nine saves to help the Tigers earn a tie on the road.

Stoughton, 3 @ Attleboro, 0 – FinalStoughton senior captain Val Whalen combined with juniors Molly Turner and Hanna Holden for 37 service points. SHS coach Erica Batchelder said solid defense from the entire Black Knight squad led the team to the win.

Canton, 0 @ Mansfield, 3 – FinalMansfield recorded a sweep over visiting, earning a key win in the second set to get the win (25-18, 29-27, 25-16). For Mansfield, Julia Harrison had 14 kills and eight digs, Lexi Gardner had 18 service points, Meg Hill added 11 kills and 12 service points and Jolie O’Neil had nine digs. CHS head coach Pat Cawley said sophomore Taylor Harris had a good all around game with great serving including four aces, three blocks, and four kills. Hannah Jerrier added four kills and five blocks for the Bulldogs.

Foxboro, 0 @ King Philip, 3 – FinalKing Philip earned a 25-10, 25-17, 25-6 sweep over the visiting Warriors of Foxboro. Rachel Veilleux led the way with 21 assists and 15 service points, Sydney Phillips added 11 kills and three digs, Michael Palumbo finished with five kills and five aces and Elise Pereira chipped in with four digs and three aces.

North Attleboro, 3 @ Taunton, 1 – FinalNorth Attleboro picked up a win on the road with a 25-17, 22-25, 25-10, 25-13 decision over Taunton. Kezia De La Cruz recorded a team-high 18 kills and added six aces for the Rocketeers while Amelia Murphy added seven kills and four aces.

Sharon, 3 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – FinalSharon pulled out its second straight five set win, this time on the road at Oliver Ames (14-25, 25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 15-6). Oliver Ames’ Sadie Homer had 19 digs and two aces, sophomore Ally Kemp had 33 assists and three aces, senior Katie Flynn had 10 kills, senior Jackie Kandar added eight kills and three assisted blocks and sophomore Jordyn Vella chipped in with seven blocks and four kills.

Canton, 155 @ Milford, 166 – FinalCanton’s Jack Goyetch earned match medalist honors, carding a low-round of 37 as the Bulldogs opened the season with a win. Joey Vaughan shot a 38 for Canton. Milford’s Riley Lynch had a team-low round of 39.

Senior Brandin Osborne netted a goal in each half while Matt Alvarado, Jack Sheldon, and Michael Nikiciuk each scored once. Sheldon, Nathaniel Cardoza, James Gillespie, Josh Melnick and freshman Matt Nikiciuk each registered an assist.

Field Hockey
Stoughton, 3 @ Attleboro, 4 – FinalAttleboro scored a pair of goals in each have and senior goalie Katie Pelletier turned aside nine shots to help the Bombardiers edge Stoughton. Grace Mayer scored a pair of goals for Attleboro in the first half, the latter on an assist from Eliza Sabilla. Alex Compton netted both goals in the second half for Big Blue, converting assists from Mayer and Abigail Boudreau. Allie Howe found the back of the net twice for Stoughton while Alanna McCormick scored once.

Canton, 4 @ Mansfield, 1 – FinalCanton junior Maggie Malloy scored a hat trick to lead the Bulldogs to a win on the road at Mansfield.

Foxboro, 1 @ King Philip, 4 – FinalAfter a scoreless first half, King Philip exploded for four goals in the second half. Nicole Connor opened the scoring off an assist from Alli Meehan just under three minutes into the second half and six minutes later, Meehan doubled the lead with an unassisted goal. Liz Furfari scored back-to-back goals four-minute span, the first off a feed from Christina Hathaway, the second from Meehan. Foxboro tallied with just under three minutes to play when Lily Daly finished a pass from Jackie Brion. KP finished with 19 shots and 14 corners.

Megan McDonough led the defense with 12 digs and was “a strong leader on the court,” according to Cawley. Cawley added Sofia Connor and Hannah Jerrier played strong all around games, combining for 10 kills.

Mansfield, 3 @ Foxboro, 0 – FinalMansfield opened its 2017 campaign with a 25-23, 25-16, 25-23 sweep on the road at Foxboro. Senior Meg Hill led the offense with 13 kills and senior Lexi Gardner chipped in with seven kills. Senior Emma Ascoli finished the game with 25 assists for Mansfield.

Taunton, 2 @ Sharon, 3 – FinalIn a back and forth match, Sharon emerged with a 22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 20-25, 15-11 win over visiting Taunton. For the Tigers, Sam Reaume had 10 kills and an ace, Kayli Fagan notched 26 assists, five aces and four kills and McKenzie Lucie played well in the back row according to head coach Toby Chaperon.

Attleboro junior Will Halben pulled one back but Canton’s Griffin Roach found the back of the week to make it 4-1. Brandon Lewis added a second strike for the Bombardiers.

Mansfield, 0 @ Foxboro, 0 – FinalMansfield senior Nick Ferraz made eight saves in net for the Hornets to earn the shutout.

Franklin, 2 @ North Attleboro, 3 – FinalNorth Attleboro twice erased a one-goal deficit and scored the game winner with just two seconds left to open the season with two points. Franklin senior Connor O’Rourke put the Panthers ahead in the sixth minute, finishing a shot from distance. North tied the game in the 28th minute when junior Joe Hilf put home a rebound on a corner kick. An own goal put Franklin back ahead but North Attleboro tied the match in the 61st minute. Senior Gabe Pinhancos broke through in alone on goal, touched around the keeper and finished into the net. Hilf scored the winner at the death, putting his shot at the back post with two seconds left.

King Philip, 1 @ Milford, 0 – FinalMilford pushed King Philip to the brink but the Warriors found the game-winner five just five minutes go. Senior Cam Koch provided the winner as his shot from outside the area hit off the crossbar and back off the keeper and into the net. Milford head coach Bryan Edwards played the effort of defender Joey Madden and goalie Josh Orellana.

Taunton, 1 @ Sharon, 2 – FinalLiam Crowley put Taunton ahead just before halftime but the Eagles netted a pair of second half goals to grab two points. Marques Benton leveled the match in the 52nd minute, heading in a long throw from Tyler Hippler. Isaiah Stessman netted the winner in the 66th minute with a shot from distance.

Girls Soccer
Canton, 2 @ Attleboro, 0 – FinalLilah Sullivan scored off a Riley Duserick assist to open the scoring for the Bulldogs and freshman Elisa Diletizia added a debut goal for Canton. Attleboro coach Steve Santos said that his team played well and created chances, but just couldn’t find the finish.

Milford, 0 @ King Philip, 4 – FinalChloe Layne scored a pair of goals and had an assist as KP scored four goals for the second straight game. Layne opened the scoring off a corner and Jenny Hinch made it two by finishing off a loose ball to the near post. Avery Snead scored off a Layne assist to make it 3-0 at halftime. Layne redirected an Emma Corcoran corner for her second and the fourth for the Warriors. Milford goalie Olivia Marshall made eight saves and Hawks coach Jay Mastaj said that Rachel LeBlanc had a solid game on defense.

Stoughton, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – FinalAbby Reardon, Sofia Masciarelli, and Erin Homberg scored goals for the Tigers and Sophia Cox and Abby Hodges had assists. Stoughton coach Tara Daniels said it was a “well-fought game” by the Black Knights. She added that senior Mia Greene created a number of chances from center midfield and goalie Emma Harrington played tough in goal.

Sharon, 0 @ Taunton, 2 – FinalEmily O’Gara had a goal and an assist for the Tigers. Maggie Sullivan had the other goal and Samantha Tichelaar had an assist. Grace Pimenta made three saves to earn the clean sheet.

Liz Nuss led OA with two goals while Hannah Stryke scored one goal. Caitlin Grant recorded 11 saves in net for Oliver Ames. Haley Apotheker and Allie Howe scored for Stoughton.

Taunton, 4 @ Sharon, 2 – FinalTaunton led 1-0 at the break and netted three more goals in the second half to pull away from Sharon and earn the win. Kya Enos scored a pair of goals while Diana Brend Lauren Torres each netted one goal for the Tigers. Senior Liana Duarte and freshman Alana Tavares each registered an assist in the win. Sharon head coach Andrea Vandette said goalie Lindsay Moses played an amazing first half, turning aside 20 shots.

King Philip, 9 @ Milford, 0 – FinalKing Philip raced out to a 6-0 lead in the first half and never looked back in a shutout win on the road. Alli Meehan had a hat trick and two assists to pace the Warriors’ offense while Claire Lawler scored twice and Caroline Klim had two helpers. Liz Furfari (goal, assist), Dana Truini and Raegan Simeone each scored once while Christina Hathaway and McKenzie Mazur each had one assist.

Ruben Gonzalez went 4-for-5 with a triple, three runs and two RBI, Pat Hagerty was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, three runs and two RBI and Jack Connelly was 3-for-4 with a run and three RBI. Luke Johnson (double, triple, 3 RBI), Ryan Sullivan and Nick Hardy each had two hits. Justin Hutchinson (3-for-3, 2 RBI) earned the win on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings with four earned runs. The senior struck out 10, including six straight, and scattered three hits.

Mansfield, 15 @ Canton, 0 – FinalMansfield scored in each of the first five innings, including six in the third inning to break the game open. The Hornets connected for 15 hits and reached base on 11 walks. Senior Matt Farragher led the way from the nine hole, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored, Anthony DeGirolamo went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored, Max Boen was 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored and Zach Peterson had a pair of hits, an RBI and a run scored. Foxboro, 1 @ King Philip, 2 – FinalSenior Kyle Guenthner initiated a game-ending 4-3 double play as the Warriors hung on for a 2-1 win over Foxboro. Foxboro loaded the bases in the seventh but Guenthner’s double play helped KP survive. Will Weir wen 2-3 with three stolen bases, scoring both of King Philip’s runs. First, Weir had a two-out single in the first inning, stole both second and third and then scored on an error. Weir scored again in the sixth, connecting on another two-out second, stealing second and then scoring on a single from Ben Furfari. Foxboro had tied the game in the fourth when AJ Bubencik singled, stole second and scored on two passed balls. Sophomore Jack Webster got his first career win, tossing two scoreless innings in relief with just two hits allowed. Junior Jackson Sheibler went 4.1 innings, allowing just one hit and one run and junior Jeremy Rhines got the save with a scoreless seventh inning.

Taunton, 3 @ North Attleboro, 2 – FinalNorth Attleboro seized the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth but Taunton responded, grabbing two runs in the top of the sixth to edge the Rocketeers. The Tigers cashed in on three walks and two hit batters to pushed across the tying and winning run. Taunton’s David Schofield earned the walk to draw in the game-winning run in the top of the sixth. Joe Manchester (1-for-3, run) and Jack Moynihan also had an RBI for Taunton, while Matt Machado had two hits. Moynihan tossed four scoreless innings while striking out five. Danny Keogh earned the win, throwing 2.2 scoreless innings with one strikeout. North Attleboro’s Nate Pearce (3-for-4, double, triple, RBI) allowed just one run in five innings of work. Zach DeMattio added two hits, an RBI and a run and Nick Crawley added a pair of hits for the Rocketeers.

Sharon, 2 @ Oliver Ames, 6 – FinalOliver Ames got its offense going early, scoring in the first inning for the second straight game and then adding four more runs in the third inning. Junior Mitch Goulet had a pair of hits in the win for the Tigers.

Softball
Attleboro, 2 @ Stoughton, 1 – FinalMcKenzie Bergdoll made an impact both in the circle and at the plate, leading the Bombardiers to a walk-off win over Stoughton. Bergdoll tossed a complete game, scattering six hits while striking out nine. Attleboro was the home team despite the change of venue, giving them the opportunity to bat last. In the bottom of the seventh, Bergdoll connected for a double, driving in MacKenzie Killough (2-for-4) for the winning run. AHS head coach Mark Homer said Jordyn Lako and Ashley Macia had strong games defensively for the Bombardiers.

Canton, 7 @ Mansfield, 14 – Final Megan Letendre pitched a complete game for the Hornets allowing six hits and striking out six batters. She also went 1-for-3 with an RBI at the plate. Kara Bendanillo went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI and Kerran Holmes went 2-for-3 and drove in four runs for Mansfield. Caty DeMassi had three hits and Hayley McGowan had two for the Hornets. Lillian Carrington and Samantha Keefe each hit a home run for the Bulldogs.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Taunton, 8 – FinalCourtney Fisher picked up the win with a complete game, allowing only one run on six hits, while striking out four. MacKenzie Handrahan powered the offense, going 3-for-3 with three RBI, and Kya Enos chipped in with two hits and two RBI and Katie Van Zandt hit a homer for Taunton. North Attleboro junior Amelia Murphy was 2-for-3 with a double.

Boys Lacrosse
Mansfield, 12 @ Attleboro, 5 – FinalMansfield raced out to a 6-2 lead and kept that pace up in the second half to earn the win over Attleboro. Mansfield junior Hunter Ferreira had his way, scoring eight goals while notching an assist as well. Midfield Joe Cox was a top distributor, recording five assists while finding the back of the net once. Cullen Murphy and Danny DeGirolamo each scored once and had two assists and Sam O’Connell scored once. Sean Powers made nine saves in net for the Hornets.

Oliver Ames, 0 @ Foxboro, 6 – FinalFoxboro goalie Jake Addeche turned away 11 shuts and Pat Stapleton had a strong game on defense with five groundballs as the Warriors blanked Oliver Ames. Foxboro scored three goals in each half, led by Trey Guerini’s two goals and one assist. Sophomore Pete Conley scored once and had two assists while Brendan Tully, Mike Collins and Sam Blake each scored once in the win.

North Attleboro, 6 @ Franklin, 7 – Final Franklin held a 3-2 lead at half, extended it to 7-3 early in the fourth quarter and then held off North Attleboro’s late charge of three straight goals. Franklin goalie Connor O’Rourke had 10 saves and came up big in the final minute as the Panthers held on to their one goal lead. Chase Tanner scored twice and had one assist to lead the Panthers, Kyle McEinry and Packie Watson each scored once and had an assist, Sam Arsenault had a pair of assists and Nitin Chaudhury and Jake Davis each scored once. North Attleboro’s Dan MacDonald made 15 saves to keep the Rocketeers in the contest while both Jack Dakin and Zach McGowan scored twice and had one assist. Tommy Lindstrom added a goal and an assist and Nick Moore also found the back of the net for Big Red.

Sharon, 6 @ King Philip, 14 – FinalThe Warriors opened the season with a win as senior Tim Watson accounted for eight points and classmate Paul Macrina made 13 saves in goal. Watson scored five goals and had three assists while sophomore Colin DeVellis scored twice and had three assists. John DeLuca scored twice and had one assist and Zach D’Amico had one goal, one assist and 11 groundballs for the Warriors.

Foxboro, 16 @ Oliver Ames, 4 – FinalOliver Ames goalie Ari Waldorf made 19 saves for the Tigers while head coach Abby Tepper said Sydney Hedrick had a strong game on defense.

North Attleboro, 7 @ Franklin, 13 – FinalNorth Attleboro took a 4-3 lead into the halftime break but Franklin’s offense came to life with 10 second half goals. Seven different Panthers found the back of the net, led by senior Kendall Reardon’s four goals. Annie Walsh, Erin Walsh and Kelsey MacCallum each scored two goals for Franklin. Freshman Gianna Cameron made nine saves in net while head coach Kristin Igoe Guarino said freshman Alex Field played well defensively and on the draw.

King Philip, 13 @ Sharon, 7 – FinalKing Philip raced out to a 8-2 lead at halftime and never looked back to open the season with a win over Sharon. Katie Crowther, Meg Wagner and Caroline Klim each scored a pair of goals in the for the Warriors while Alli Meehan, Angela Vellante, Dana Truini, Victoria Tormey and MacKenzie Mazur each scored once. Caroline Watson made 13 saves in net for KP.

Taunton, 12 @ Milford, 11 – Final (OT)Taunton won its second game in a row to start the season thanks to a game-winning overtime goal by eighth grader Alana Tavares, her sixth of the game and 11th in the first two games of her varsity career. Delaney Powell chipped in with three goals for the Tigers and Lorna Li made 12 saves. Emily Hayley had three goals for the Hawks, while Jordyn Lombardo, Taylor Dube, and Jill Burley each had two.

Boys Tennis
Stoughton, 2 @ Attleboro, 3 – FinalAttleboro’s Shawn Gordon and Abdul Khatib each won three set thrillers to help the Bombardiers edge Stoughton and pick up their first win of the season. Shawn Gordon won 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 at first singles and Khatib won 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 at third singles. The team of Eli Araujo and Ryan Gordon picked up a 6-0, 6-4 win at second doubles. Stoughton’s Tony Jordan won 6-1, 6-3 at second singles and the team of Jon Podesta and Erik Anderson won 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 at first doubles.

Canton, 0 @ Mansfield, 5 – Final

Foxboro, 3 @ King Philip, 2 – FinalFoxboro’s Andre Jabari won the deciding match, winning in a three-set thriller at second singles to help the Warriors edge King Philip. Jabari dropped the first set 6-7 (7-9) but battled back to win the next two 6-3, 6-3 to earn Foxboro the win. Foxboro swept doubles play for its other two points. The team Shawn McNamara and Matt Tierney won 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 at first doubles and Brandon Wasserman and Ben Dorman won 6-4, 6-2 at second doubles. King Philip’s Cole Ginter won 6-1, 6-1 at first singles and Blake Ginter won 6-3, 6-3 at third singles.

Milford, 0 @ Franklin, 5 – FinalFranklin picked up a sweep, winning all five matches in straight sets to beat Milford. Rahul Herur won 6-3, 6-4 at first singles, Eli Brooks won 6-3, 6-0 at second singles and Rohan Herur won 6-3, 6-2 at third singles. The team of James Johnston and Derek Wu won 6-0, 6-3 at first doubles and Tyler DiPalma and Rahul Hosdurg paired together for a 6-0, 6-0 win at second doubles.

North Attleboro, 5 @ Taunton, 0 – FinalNorth Attleboro etched its first tally into the win column for 2017 with a sweep on the road at Taunton. Senior Zac Pfeffer won 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 at first singles, senior Dan Zhang won 6-4, 6-2 at second singles and junior Alex Rinaldi won at third singles without dropping game, 6-0, 6-0. Junior Ben Pfeffer and senior Andrew Harris won 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles and senior Mayank Wadekar and sophomore Vikram Senthilakumaran won 6-3, 6-1 at second doubles.

Mansfield, 4 @ Canton, 1 – FinalThe Hornets of Mansfield took care of singles play, winning all three in straight sets and also grabbed a win in doubles to beat Canton. Paulina Martin won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, Sarah Doyle took second singles 6-1, 6-0 and Elizabeth Elsner won 6-1, 6-0 at third singles. Mansfield’s fourth win came from the team of Chloe Peters and Tessa Garufi, notching a 6-0, 6-1 victory at first doubles. Canton’s Jenna Paynter and Stelina Michaelidis won 6-1, 6-1 at second doubles.

King Philip, 2 @ Foxboro, 3 – FinalFoxboro swept singles play to edge King Philip on Wednesday afternoon. Sophia Prinos won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, Lexi Nelson didn’t lose a game in a 6-0, 6-0 victory at second singles and Julia Muise won 7-5, 6-1 at third singles to clinch the win for the Warriors. King Philip’s Corrine Palumbo and Carly Adams won 6-4, 6-1 at first doubles and the team of Lucy Barnard and Caitlin Gonser won 6-2, 6-3 at second doubles.

Franklin, 3 @ Milford, 2 – FinalFranklin won in straight sets at first and second singles and then used three-set win at second doubles to edge the Scarlet Hawks. Senior Hannah Sweeney didn’t drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles and classmate Anja Deric won 6-1, 6-4 at second doubles. The team of senior Julia Hogan and junior Jillian McLaughlin won the deciding point with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 decision at second doubles. Milford’s Caitlin Cafarella won 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) at third singles and the team of seniors Victoria Beyer and Daniella Arojo won 6-2, 6-4 at first doubles.

Taunton, 1 @ North Attleboro, 4 – FinalNorth Attleboro had to claw back at both first singles and first doubles to claim a win over North Attleboro in a rematch of last season’s epic playoff showdown. North’s Emily Chiasson dropped the first set 0-6 but rallied back to win the next two, 6-4, 6-1. The team of Gabby Duva and Azka Siddiq fell behind after losing the first set 2-6, but won a huge tiebreaker 10-8 to win the second set 7-6 and then took the third 6-3. Jordan Willis won 6-1, 6-0 at second singles and the team of Katie Demontigny and Hana Hershey won 6-0, 6-3 at second doubles for Big Red. Taunton’s Jillian Pagliuca won 6-0, 6-2 at third singles for the Tigers.

Oliver Ames, 1 @ Sharon, 4 – FinalSophomore Nupur Shukla and freshman Emily Zhang won in straight sets, at first and second singles respectively, without dropping a game as the Eagles picked up the win. The team of juniors Katie Merport and Emily Wen won 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles and sophomore Sachi Bhasin and Sydney Gordon won 6-0, 6-3 at second doubles. Oliver Ames freshman Maura Kiernan made her varsity debut with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win at third singles.

Boys Volleyball
Milford, 0 vs. St. John’s Prep, 3 – Final

Taunton, 3 @ North Quincy, 0 – FinalTaunton picked up its third straight sweep and second in a row on the road with a 25-14, 25-21, 25-21 win over North Quincy. The Tigers used a balanced attack with Lens Esquil leading the way with 12 kills and three blocks. Malik Charles added six kills and one block, David Fusiecki had six kills and four aces and Collin Hunter had five kills and two blocks.
