Attleboro, 6 @ King Philip, 2 – FinalAttleboro senior James Weir shined on the mound, allowing just two hits with four strikeouts in a complete game effort. Weir earned the win with just one earned run allowed. Eoin Kelleher (double) and Dakota Kirby each had a pair of hits for the Bombardiers along with an RBI each. Jon Candiales added a pair of hits and three runs scored for Attleboro.

Foxboro, 3 @ Sharon, 8 – FinalSharon junior Noah Kamens tossed a complete game without allowing an earned run to help the Eagles pick up their first win of the season. Kamens stuck out four while walking three in the win. Senior Drew Naisuler went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI while junior Jared Reef added two hits, an RBI, and a run scored.

Canton, 2 @ North Attleboro, 6 – FinalNorth Attleboro broke open a tie game with three runs in the top of the fourth and then escaped a bases-loaded jam in the fifth to earn a win over Canton. In his varsity debut, senior Ben Arrighi came on with the bases loaded in the top of the fifth and induced a ground ball to get out of the inning. Arrighi then escaped another bases loaded jam in the top of the seventh to earn the save (2.1 IP, 0 R). Jeff Gale went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, including a triple, and had an RBI single in the sixth inning to put Big Red up 6-2. Nick Sinacola added two hits while Peter Cohen earned the win on the mound. Canton’s Matt Casamento had a two-run home run in the third that tied the game 2-2.

Taunton, 3 @ Mansfield, 1 – FinalMansfield took the lead in the bottom of the first inning but Taunton answered with three runs in the top of the second to earn the win. Jack Moynihan earned the win on the bump, scattering five hits with five strikeouts and just on unearned run allowed. Josh Lajoie didn’t allow a hit in two innings of relief, striking out four to earn the save. Offensively, Trevor Pietrzyk (2-for-4) knocked in one run and Jacob Crawford had two RBI. Moynihan also had a hit and scored a run. For Mansfield, Sam Nugent went 2-for-3 and Tyler Dalton had an RBI single. Sophomore John Carney struck out five without allowing a hit in 3.2 innings of relief.

Stoughton, 10 @ Milford, 3 – FinalStoughton’s offense exploded for seven runs in the top of the eighth inning to pick up a victory on the road. Sophomore James Genest went 3-for-5 (double, run, RBI), while Ruben Gonzalez (double, run), Robbie Seaman (double, two runs), and George Currier (run, RBI, SB) each had two hits. Sophomore Michael Nazzaro chipped in with a two-run double.  Zak Paquette started for Stoughton and went 5.1 innings, allowing three runs (1 earned) on five hits with seven strikeouts. Junior Evan Gibb got the win pitching 2.2 scoreless innings allowing just one hit.

Softball
King Philip, 7 @ Attleboro, 1 – FinalKing Philip’s Elise Pereira allowed just four singles and one run while striking out 12 batters to lead the Warriors to a win on the road. Brianna Lacy paced the offense with three hits, including a home run. Faith Turnese added two hits and Sydney Phillips had two RBI in the win.

North Attleboro, 20 @ Canton, 0 – FinalBella Erti (three innings, one hit allowed) and Jaclyn Buckley (two innings and two hits allowed) combined for the shutout for North, which has scored at least 20 runs in each of its two games this season. Ashley Cangiano and Olivia Capobianco each went 3-for-3 with a homer and two RBI, while Abby Warren went 3-for-3 with two triples and six RBI. Erti also went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in a pair and Emily Nardelli had one RBI and three runs scored. North coach Bill Wallace said Andrea Miceli had a great game in the field.

Sharon, 7 @ Foxboro, 18 – FinalFoxboro seniors Hannah Davis and Mandy Ryan, and freshman Nicole Theriault each had three hits to pace the Warriors to a big win at home. Junior Emma Rohan recorded 10 strikeouts for the Warriors.

Oliver Ames, 3 @ Franklin, 15 – Final (6 inn.)Franklin scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back to secure its first win of the season. The Panthers tacked on four more in the second, five more in the fourth and a single run in the sixth inning. Kylie Bouzan and Meg Caron finished with two RBI apiece while Emily Valentino earned the win, striking out four while scattering six hits. For Oliver Ames, Marissa Guarino was 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored, Kayla Georgeu added a double, and Katie Abreu scored a run.

Mansfield, 4 @ Taunton, 13 – FinalTaunton sophomore Jaylin Couto allowed just one earned run on four hits in four innings of work. Couto also struck out four while Kelsey White finished with three innings of no-hit ball with three strikeouts. McKenzie McAloon (3-4, two doubles, three RBI), Hanna Aldrich (2-3, two doubles, three RBI), Jaime Brown (2-3, double), Kya Enos (1-2, two RBI), and Kelsey White (triple, two RBI) paced the Tigers’ offense. Grace Benton went 2-for-3 on the game for the Hornets, recording half of the team’s hits on the day.

Milford, 4 @ Stoughton, 1 – FinalMilford rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh inning to escape Stoughton with a win. The Hawks put the bat on the ball but Stoughton played phenomenal defense to keep them off the board for six innings. In the top of the seventh, Emily Hartman (2-for-2, run) led off with a double, Shannon Cormier walked and Maddy Bonvino loaded the bases with a bunt single. Kelley Reichert gave Milford the lead with a two-run single and Sabrina Haarstick gave the Hawks insurance with another two-run single. Antonia Bonina had another strong day offensively, going 3-for-3 while Reichert earned the win, striking out seven with three hits allowed and just one unearned run. Stoughton took the lead when Nikki Coppola led off the bottom of the first with a walk, took second on an error and scored on a ground ball to short from Jordan Lyons. Gina Carafa tossed a complete game for Stoughton, allowing just six hits.

Boys Lacrosse
Franklin, 18 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final

Milford, 2 @ Canton, 14 – FinalCanton senior Charlie O’Connor made his season debut and didn’t lose a face off, scoring two goals as well, to help the Bulldogs pick up a win over visiting Milford. The Bulldogs had eight different players score a goal including junior Teddy MacDonald, who notched his first career goal. Freshman goalie Dylan Coyne had a shutout in net in the fourth quarter for Canton.

Stoughton, 1 @ Foxboro, 19 – FinalLouis Piccolo recorded six points while Andrew Whalen and Pete Conley each picked up five points as Foxboro improved to 4-0. Piccolo had three goals and three assists, Whalen scored once and had four assists, and Conley scored four times and chipped in with one helper.

Mansfield, 10 @ King Philip, 14 – Final

Oliver Ames, 7 @ North Attleboro, 17 – FinalNorth Attleboro senior Jason McNeany dominated the face off X (18-for-20) to help the Rocketeers pick up a win at home over OA. Sophomore Andy DeMattio scored five goals, Damien Curtis scored four goals, and McNeany added four points in the win. Nate D’Amico made eight saves in net for the Rocketeers. Eric LeBlanc had three goals for Oliver Ames while Shane Kilkelly found the back of the net twice.

Sharon, 14 @ Taunton, 0 – FinalBrothers Brett and Drew Litner each finished with six points to pace the Eagles to a win on the road. Brett had five goals and one assist while Drew had one goal and five assists. Kadin Nestler added three goals for Sharon while Johnny Greenberg posted the shutout.

Girls Lacrosse
Taunton, 2 @ Sharon, 15 – FinalSharon coach Shara Ginthwain called the Eagles’ win a “total team effort,” as eight different players scored goals. Sabrina Robbins had another strong overall game with three goals, three assists, and six ground balls, while Emma Eberhardt also finished with a hat trick and three assists and added 10 draw controls as well. Freshman Jenna Goldstein made it a hat trick of hat tricks for the Eagles and Cass Barbera chipped in with six ground balls. Taunton’s Hannah Moniz and Alana Tavares each scored once while Lorna Li made 11 saves in net.

Attleboro, 3 @ Franklin, 20 – FinalHalle Atkinson and Shannon D’Arcangelo each recorded three goals to pace the Panthers to a win at home. Alex Field scored her goal of the season while Victoria Quinn had a strong game in midfield with four draw controls. Grace MacCallum anchored the defense with three ground balls.

Canton, 7 @ Milford, 6 – FinalMaggie Connolly scored a first half hat trick to help the Bulldogs pull out their first win of the season and first under new coach Laurie Chabot.

Foxboro, 10 @ Norwell, 11 – Final

King Philip, 12 @ Mansfield, 8 – Final KP made it three wins in three games to start the season with six different players finding the back of the net. Katie Crowther and Caroline Klim each scored three goals for the Warriors, while Alli Meehan added two goals and an assist, Dana Truini had a pair of goals, Jess Sullivan had a goal and an assist, and Olivia Tormey scored in the win. Caroline Watson made 13 saves in the win.

North Attleboro, 18 @ Oliver Ames, 10 – FinalFor Oliver Ames, Ella Hogan and Olivia Piazza each netted three goals while Chloe Kilkelly and Sofia Masciarelli added two goals apiece.

Boys Tennis
King Philip, 5 @ Attleboro, 0 – FinalKing Philip lost a total of three games in singles play on its way to a sweep on the road at Attleboro. Marco DiStefano won 6-2, 6-0 at first singles, Nick Putney didn’t lose a game in a win at second singles and Jack Cannon took a 6-0, 6-1 decision at third singles. The team of Nick Ihley and Nate Ihley registered a 6-0, 6-1 win at first doubles and Zak Ryan and Jake Mager made their varsity debuts with a 6-2, 6-2 win at second doubles.

North Attleboro, 5 @ Canton, 0 – FinalNorth Attleboro picked up its third win of the season, sweeping Canton on the road. Senior Richard Bermudez won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles and Christian Bermudez won with the same score at second singles. Freshman Jonah Manso won 6-0, 6-0 at third singles. The team of Ben Pfeffer and Vikram Senthilkumaran won 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles and Alex Pfeffer and Sam Gallagher teamed up for a 6-2, 6-0 win at second doubles.

Sharon, 5 @ Foxboro, 0 – FinalSharon picked up its third win of the season with a sweep on the road against division foe Foxboro. Fred Bondar notched a 6-1, 6-2 win at first singles, Andre Olivei picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at second singles and Danujan Thirumavalavan didn’t lose a game at third singles. Junior Max Brody and senior Russell Rapaport won 6-0, 6-2 at first doubles while Sharon’s pairing of Ashwin Sreevatsa and Arie Chinnappan, won 6-0, 6-0 at second doubles.

Oliver Ames, 0 @ Franklin, 5 – FinalFranklin earned a clean sweep, dropping just one game in the five matches. Rohan Herur and Saketh Saripalli each won 6-0, 6-0 at first and third singles, respectively. Liam Marr recorded a 6-0, 6-1 win at second singles for the Panthers. The team of Tyler DiPalma and Derek Wu (first doubles) and the pairing of Tony Calderone and Dan Angermeier (second doubles) each won 6-0, 6-0.

Mansfield @ Taunton, 3:45

Milford, 0 @ Stoughton, 5 – Final – Stoughton picked up its first win of the season, sweeping Milford. Freshman Waseem Sablon picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at first singles, junior Erik Anderson recorded a 7-5, 6-1 win at second singles and LJ Fernandiz won 6-3, 6-3 at third singles. Stoughton’s team of Hassan Khan and Andrew Chiang won 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles and the pairing of sophomores Brendon Buckley and Mike Veliotis won 6-0, 6-3 at second doubles.

Girls Tennis
Taunton, 5 @ Mansfield, 0 – FinalTaunton won in straight sets in all five matches to notch a victory on the road. Jillian Pagliuca won by default at first singles, senior Vanessa Rosa won 6-1, 6-3 at second singles, and freshman Jocelyn Pagliuca earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at third singles. The team of juniors McKenzie Lucie and Sam Martin won 6-3, 6-3 at first doubles for the Tigers and senior Amanda Pugh and junior Brianna Fevrier won 6-1, 6-0 at second doubles.

Canton, 1 @ North Attleboro, 4 – FinalNorth Attleboro picked up a pair of wins in both singles and both doubles to beat Canton. Senior Jordan Willis won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles and senior Katie Ovoian won 6-1, 7-5 at second singles. The team of seniors Leah Marceau and Shurobhi Nandi won 6-0, 6-3 at first doubles while juniors Mae McLaughlin and Tara Nair emerged with a 6-3, 6-1 win at second doubles. Canton freshman Rachel Kupferman won 6-0, 6-1 at second singles.

Foxboro, 2 @ Sharon, 3 – FinalSharon emerged with a 3-2 victory in a showdown with division rival Foxboro. The Eagles picked up wins at second singles and both doubles matches. Lulu Yuan won 6-0, 6-0 at second singles, Katie Merport and Emily Wen prevailed with a 6-2, 6-1 win at first doubles and Rithika Neti and Sophia Fein teamed up for a 6-2, 6-2 win at second doubles. Foxboro’s Sophia Prinos won 6-2, 7-5 at first singles and freshman Pam Nelson earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at third singles.

Franklin, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 5 – FinalOliver Ames defended its home court with a sweep of visiting Franklin. Sarah Leger won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles, Tate Hadges took a 6-0, 6-1 decision at second singles and Maura Kiernan didn’t lose a game in a win at third singles. The team of Kristin Bloumbas and Emily Yu recorded a 6-2, 6-0 win at first doubles while Rachel Stryke and Olivia Groebe prevailed 6-1, 6-1 at second doubles.

Boys Soccer
Attleboro, 2 @ King Philip, 3 – FinalReigning Hockomock League MVP Tyler Mann netted a hat trick to lead the Warriors past Attleboro. Attleboro opened up a 2-0 lead in the first 15 minutes but King Philip rallied to cut the deficit in half before the halftime break and netted two in the second half. Aidan Lancaster converted the opener on an assist from Will Halben in the fourth minute and Mike Russo doubled the lead on a feed from Devin Andre in the 15th minute. Mann opened his 2017 account in the 25th minute on an assist from Tony Bozza. Mann tied the game in the 52nd minute and then finished off a feed from Connor Mullins in the 67th minute for the winner.

Canton, 1 @ North Attleboro, 1 – FinalCanton opened the scoring in the 29th minute when junior Paul Corcoran buried an assist from Griffin Roach to go up 1-0. But North Attleboro responded just a minute later, tying the game when Jeff Gale hammered home a rebound off a shot from Gabe Pinhancos.

Foxboro, 1 @ Sharon, 0 – FinalFoxboro scored the game-winning goal in the final minutes of the game to earn a key division win on the road. Junior Shane VandenBoom finished off a cross from Cam Cass for the winner.

Franklin, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – FinalOliver Ames senior Brandin Osborne continued his strong start to the season, scoring a pair of second half goals to lift the Tigers over Franklin. After a scoreless first half, Osborne scored twice, assited by Cam Vella and Nathaniel Cardoza. Jack Carroll earned his third shutout of the season and OAHS head coach John Barata said Vella, Mason Galbato, Colin Evin, Matt Campell and Chris Lawrence played great in the back for the Tigers.

Taunton, 1 @ Mansfield, 5 – FinalMansfield built a 5-0 lead in just over a half hour of play in a big win over visiting Taunton. John Cooney opened the scoring in the 5th minute, converting a throw in from Sam Hyland. Junior Luke Savoie buried a shot from distance to double the score, and two minutes later, Sean Lanzillo nodded home another Hyland throw. Austin Ricker made it 4-0 on a feed from Jake Tuleja and Connor Eames netted his first career goal off an assist from Colin Caridi. Taunton’s Jake DeAndrade picked the upper corner from distance in the 32nd minute to get the Tigers on the board.

Stoughton, 1 @ Milford, 2 – FinalMilford scored once in each half to build a 2-0 lead and held off a late Stoughton push to earn the two points. Wallison Tavares opened the scoring for the Hawks, heading home a corner from sophomore Jordan Borges to put Milford up 1-0. Anthony Salvador doubled the lead in the second half on an assist from Joey Madden. MHS head coach Brian Edwards said Brayan Traya played well in the midfield for the Hawks.

Girls Soccer
King Philip, 4 @ Attleboro, 1 – FinalKP scored two goals in the second half to break open a one-goal game at the break. Attleboro trailed 2-1 at the half with a goal by freshman Isabella Salviati and head coach Steve Santos said the Bombardiers came out strong to start the second half, but KP was able to get the third goal and extend its perfect start to the season.

North Attleboro, 3 @ Canton, 3 – FinalThe Bulldogs rallied from a 3-1 deficit to get the draw. Morgan McCabe scored off an Olivia Rodman cross to cut the lead to one and Sarah Connolly finished off a corner from Sarah Collins with about four minutes to play to earn Canton a point. Canton’s first goal was by Collins from another Rodman cross. North goals were by Leah Jette, Aine Mendonca, and Kayla Pasquel.

Sharon, 1 @ Foxboro, 4 – FinalThe Warriors earned their first win of the season and the first win for head coach Katie Stalcup. Foxboro got goals from Jordyn Collins, Lizzy Davis, Shaina Abbott and Grace Ferguson to bring home its first two points. Ally Filipkowski got the lone goal for the Eagles and Lydia Chase had a great game, according to Sharon coach Brad Furnival, making more than a dozen saves in the loss.

Oliver Ames, 1 @ Franklin, 2 – FinalMolly Duncan scored the winner with a long-range shot in the final eight minutes of the game to earn the win for the Panthers. Abby Reardon gave OA the lead seven minutes after halftime, but Anna Balkus tied it for Franklin six minutes later. Regan Benton made seven saves for the Tigers and Cat Robbins made 10 for the Panthers.

Mansfield, 4 @ Taunton, 0 – FinalEmily Vigeant scored a pair of goals, as the Hornets continued their unbeaten start to the season. Sydney Mulkern and Amanda Mangano also scored for Mansfield.

Milford, 3 @ Stoughton, 1 – FinalCassie Probert, Hannah Martin, Maddie Boyle each scored goals for Milford, which has won back-to-back games. Freshman Mackenzie Manning scored the lone goal for the Black Knights.

Field Hockey
Foxboro, 3 @ Hopkinton, 2 – Final

Oliver Ames, 7 vs. West Bridgewater, 1 – FinalWest Bridgewater scored first but Oliver Ames scored seven straight goals to rout the visitors. Liz Nuss and Emily Han each scored two goals while Meaghan Rockey, Maura Kiernan and Brenna Woods each found the back of the net once. Sarah Stevens had three assists while Kayla Lozzi, Rockey and Nuss each had one helper.

Stoughton, 7 vs. Brockton, 0 – FinalAllie Howe and Kamryn Oliveira each netted a pair of goals for the Black Knights. Lisa Ramanauskas, Jordan Lyons and Alanna McCormick each scored once in Stoughton’s win.

Volleyball
Attleboro, 0 @ King Philip, 3 – FinalKing Philip defended home court with a dominant sweep (25-17, 25-8, 25-4) over the visiting Bombardiers. Kat Kmetz rattled off 21 service points for KP, including two aces. Sydney Phillips (12 kills), Michaela Palumbo (six kills) and Grace Ely (three kills) paced the Warriors’ offense.

Canton, 1 @ North Attleboro, 3 – Final North Attleboro notched a key division win over visiting Canton, 25-14, 25-12, 23-25, 25-8. Kezie De La Cruz (two aces) and Amelia Murphy (five aces) each had 14 kills in the win for the Rocketeers while Leah Marceau finished with 26 assists. CHS coach Pat Cawley said Nicole Brown had a great night for the Bulldogs, finishing with 21 assists while Hannah Jerrier finished with 13 kills.

Foxboro, 0 @ Sharon, 3 – Final

Franklin, 3 @ Oliver Ames, 0 – FinalTrailing 9-17 in the third set, Franklin’s Lizzie Boynton went on a 10 point serving run, including four aces, to put Franklin ahead and help the Panthers finish the sweep. During the Panthers’ comeback, Emma Clifford played strong defense and added two kills. Ellie Wisniewski finished with nine kills and an ace.

Taunton, 0 @ Mansfield, 3 – FinalMansfield bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 25-12, 25-19, 25-12 sweep of visiting Taunton. Julia Harrison paced the Hornets’ offense with 13 kills and 13 service points. Meg Hill added 12 kills and Olivia McGrath finished with 17 service points.

Stoughton, 3 @ Milford, 0 – FinalStoughton notched its fifth straight win to open the season, sweeping Milford 25-11, 25-18, 25-13. SHS junior Molly Turner controlled the offense with 21 service points and 10 assists while senior Val Whalen had a strong game with 15 kills, 12 digs and eight service points. Milford head coach Dan Seaver said Emily Piergustavo and Julia Riordan played well from the setting spot and Sydney Sutton had a good day in the back row.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Canton, 7 – FinalMaggie Malloy netted a hat trick and Andrea McNeil registered four points as Canton picked up a key division win at home over North Attleboro. McNeil scored once and added three assists.

Foxboro, 6 @ Sharon, 0 – Final

Taunton, 1 @ Mansfield, 1 – FinalTaunton took the lead seven minutes into the second half but Mansfield found the equalizer less than two minutes later to settle for a draw. Diana Brens put Taunton ahead on an assist from Liana Duarte while Kristina O’Connell tied the game with the assist going to Ann Maher. THS head coach Liz Hathaway said Brens, Duarte, Mabel Smith and Jillian Pagliuca had strong performances for the Tigers while Emma Sheehan totaled seven saves in net.

Stoughton, 3 @ Milford, 4 – Final Milford’s Shannon Cormier scored twice and assisted on the game-winning goal to help the Hawks edge visiting Stoughton. The Hawks erased a pair of first half deficits and took a 3-2 lead into the break on Cormier’s second goal, assists by Kate Wimette. The Black Knights tied the game up at 3-3 but Cormier set up Danielle Fokas for the game-winner. Fokas also had an assist while Ashlyn Olivieri scored once on an assist from Bella Gonzalez. Alanna McCormick, Julia Russell and Jordan Lyons scored for Stoughton.

Milford, 182 @ Sharon, 171 – FinalSharon’s Corey Carter carded a match medalist round of 40 to lead the Eagles to a win over Milford. Zach Tammaro paced the Hawks with a round of 42.

Attleboro, 167 @ Stoughton, 186 – Final – FinalKyle DelSignore earned match medalist honors for the Bombardiers, shooting a low-round of 38. Taron Mills added a 42 and Ethan Johnson shot 43. Stoughton’s Brendan Campbell carded a team-low round of 39.

Foxboro, 166 @ Canton, 155 – FinalCanton’s Danny Powers and Joey Vaughan shared match medalist honors for the second straight day, each carding a low round of 38 in the Bulldogs’ win. Jack Goyetch added a 39 for Canton while Noah Hicks and Matt Lathrop led Foxboro, each carding a round of 41.

Taunton, 276 @ Coyle & Cassidy, 292 – FinalTaunton’s Jack Patneuade shot a team-low round of 38 to lead the Tigers to a win over rival Coyle in a match that counted six cards. Jack Giebel shot a 42 and Spencer Andrews carded a round of 45 for Taunton.

Oliver Ames, 5 @ Mansfield, 1 – FinalOliver Ames senior Sam Burr allowed just four bases runners in six innings of work, striking out two to earn the win. The Tigers did the majority of their damage in the first inning, scoring four runs and adding one more in the fourth. Mitch Goulet went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored and Alden Newman had two hits, a stolen base and an RBI for OA.

Sharon, 2 @ North Quincy, 0 – Final (8 inn.)

Softball
Attleboro, 1 @ Taunton, 11 – FinalTaunton belted out 16 hits as a team and senior Courtney Fisher struck out a season-high 11 batters as the Tigers secured a win under the lights at Jack Tripp Field. Eighth grader Hannah Aldrich led the way with four RBI on two hits, including a triple, while Jaime Brown, Liana Duarte, Kya Enos and MacKenzie Handrahan all had two hits and an RBI in the win. Katie Van Zandt drove in two more runs for the Tigers. Fisher allowed just three hits in the win.

Foxboro, 1 @ King Philip, 10 – FinalWith the win, KP clinched the outright Kelley-Rex division title. It is KP’s 10th league title in the past 11 seasons. Click here for photos from the game.

Franklin, 0 @ Bishop Feehan, 1 – FinalFranklin junior Jackie Cherry and sophomore Ally Shea both played well for the Panthers according to FHS coach Kate Fallon-Comeau.

Mansfield, 4 @ Holliston, 0 – FinalSarah Cahill gave up only four hits to pick up the shutout. Mackenzie Burke drove in the first run in the first inning and Mady Bendanillo made it 2-0 scoring on a dropped third strike. In the seventh, Mansfield doubled its lead when Mady Bendanillo sinlged home her sister Kara and Megan Letendre scored on a groundout. Kara Bendanillo went 3-for-3 on the day to lead the Hornets offensively.

Oliver Ames, 6 vs. Walpole, 9 – FinalOliver Ames jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning but were forced to bring around a sixth run in the fourth inning to knot the game 6-6. Walpole went on to score one run in the sixth and two more in the seventh to secure the win. Victora Ziner had a double and a run scored while Katie Abreu, Caroline Mahoney and Kayla Georgeu each knocked in a run and scored. Katie Mills added two RBI and Lexie Campbell plated Lizzie Miller for OA’s sixth run. Click here for photos from the game.

Olivia Capobianco cleared the bases with a double, Liz Morehouse and Kristina Murphy had two hits apiece and Ashley Cangiano and Katherine Munley each scored a pair of runs. Karly Estremera, Bri Ferrandiz, Shannon Flaherty, Jordan Lyons, Nikki Coppola, and Haley Stone had hits for the Black Knights and head coach Tim Norton said Loffredo had a good game in the field as well.

Sharon, 0 @ Milford, 6 – Final (3 inn.)Milford’s Jess Tomaso connected for a pair of singles and knocked in a run as Milford notched a win at home as the away team. Emily Piergustavo added a triple, an RBI and a run scored and Kate Irwin had two RBI. Ali Atherton struck out four in two innings of work.

Stoughton, 1 @ North Attleboro, 14 – FinalNorth Attleboro’s Andy DeMattio deposited a hat trick and added one assist to lead the Rocketeers to their final league win of the season. Jack Dakin, Nick Ward, Jason McNeany (12 face off wins), Jack Connolly and Tommy Lindstrom each had two points, scoring once and recording an assist. Dan MacDonald scored once and had two assists while Damien Curtis, Owen Costello, Hunter Sarro, Zac Doucette and Ramssey Francois each scored once.

Taunton, 13 vs. Coyle & Cassidy, 1 – FinalDelaney Powell capped off the season for Taunton with five goals and an assist to lead the Tigers to a seventh win on the season. Abbey Kingman added two goals and two assists and Bre Conlon and Annie Tate also had a pair of goals apiece. Hannah Moniz and Rosemary McGrath also scored for Taunton.

Boys Tennis
King Philip, 3 @ Franklin, 2 – FinalKing Philip’s second doubles pairing of Aidan Ignatius and Marco DiStefano rolled to a straight set win over Franklin just this past Friday. Trailing 1-4 in the second set against a new Franklin duo, the pair rallied and earned a 6-2, 6-4 win and clinching the Warriors at least a share of the Kelley-Rex title. It marks KP’s first league title since 2013. Cole Ginter (first singles, 6-4, 6-1) and Martin Matous (third singles, 6-2, 6-0) also picked up wins for KP. Franklin’s Eli Brooks won 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 at second singles and James Johnston and Derek Wu earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at first doubles.

Sophomore Brett Beaulieu won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, junior Mike Briggs recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win at second singles and senior Eric Gwozdz prevailed 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 at third singles. The team of sophomores Dylan Kullas and Charlie Fiske capped the win with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at first doubles.

Milford, 0 @ Foxboro, 5 – FinalFoxboro lost a total of three games in singles play and just five in doubles play in a clean sweep of the visiting Scarlet Hawks. Sophia Prinos (first singles) and Lexi Nelson (second singles) both won 6-0, 6-0 while Julia Muise took a 6-0, 6-3 decision at third singles. The team of Kayla Prag and Olivia Dantona won 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles and sophomore Kendall Milender and senior Jacey Nicklas notched a 6-4, 6-0 win at second doubles.

Franklin, 1 @ King Philip, 4 – FinalKing Philip didn’t drop a game at second or third singles and swept doubles play to earn the win and set up a winner-take-all situation on Wednesday against Taunton for the Kelley-Rex title. KP’s Erin Regnier (second) and Meghan Sepich (third) won 6-0, 6-0 in their respective singles matches. The team of Megan Davenport and Carly Adams won 6-2, 6-2 at first doubles and Corinne Palumbo and Lucy Barnard won 6-1, 6-0 at second doubles. Franklin senior Hannah Sweeney earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles.

Oliver Ames, 1 @ Mansfield, 4 – FinalMansfield is tournament bound following a 4-1 win over Oliver Ames. The Hornets swept singles play with Paulina Martin earning a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles, Sarah Doyle taking a 6-2, 6-0 victory at second singles and Elizabeth Elsner notching a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 win at third singles. Chloe Peters and Tessa Garufi earned Mansfield’s fourth point with a 6-2, 6-3 win at first doubles. The team of Olivia Groebe and Kristin Bloumbas picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at second doubles for OA.

Sharon, 3 vs. Martha’s Vineyard, 2 – FinalSharon scored an impressive win over two-time defending D3 State Champion Martha’s Vineyard to move to 17-0. The Eagles will look to complete a perfect regular season on Saturday against Milford. Nupur Shukla won 6-0, 6-3 at first singles, Emily Zhang took a 6-0, 6-2 win at second singles and Lulu Yuan prevailed 6-4, 6-4 at third singles as Sharon swept singles matches.

Attleboro, 1 @ Taunton, 9 – FinalTaunton grabbed the lead with two runs in the third inning and then broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning and a three-run sixth inning. Tyler Medeiros and William DaRosa each knocked in three runs to pace the Tigers offense while Medeiros earned the win on the mound. Medeiros pitched six innings, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while fanning nine batters. Chris Gomes added three hits and three runs and Jacob Crawford had two hits and three runs scored for the Tigers.

Canton, 0 @ Stoughton, 7 – FinalStoughton senior Ryan Sullivan pitched five scoreless innings to earn his third win of the season. Justin Hutchinson went 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple, two runs scored and two RBI. Matt Gallagher and Jack Connelly each pitched a scoreless inning of relief for the Black Knights.

Foxboro, 2 @ North Attleboro, 5 – FinalNorth Attleboro plated three runs in the third inning and added two more in the fourth inning to beat Foxboro. Junior Zach DeMattio had a big day at the plate, knocking in four runs and scoring the fifth. In the third, Nick Sinacola (infield hit) and Nate Pearce (single) reached before DeMattio brought both home with a double. DeMattio scored the third run when John Brennan drew a bases loaded walk. In the fourth, Sinacola had another single and DeMattio launched a two-run home run. Sinacola earned the win on the mound, striking out five in four innings of work with just two hits allowed. Peter Cohen allowed one run on two hits and two walks in three innings of relief.

Franklin, 5 @ King Philip, 0 – FinalFranklin junior Jake Noviello tossed a complete game shutout, striking out three while scattering five hits and three walks to earn the win. Offensively, Cam Lupien had a team-high three hits and added an RBI while both Tyler Gomes and Alex Haba had two hits and two runs scored. Franklin clinched the Kelley-Rex division title outright with the win.

Stoughton, 10 @ Canton, 5 – FinalStoughton took a 5-0 lead in the opening innings only to have Canton rally to tie the game in the fourth. The Black Knights regained the lead in the top of the sixth when Alessandra Loffredo beat out an infield single on a two-out grounder that plated Taylor Levine. Karly Estremera went 3-for-4 for Stoughton, scored three runs, and drove in a pair. Brianna Ferrandiz and Jordan Lyons each had two hits and Gina Carafa picked up the win with six strikeouts.

North Attleboro, 11 @ Foxboro, 12 – Final (8 inn.)North Attleboro’s Meg Barlow (three hits) and Bella Erti (two hits) each had a double and home run but the Rocketeers fell in extra innings. Olivia Capobianco also had three hits and Kristina Murphy and Sam Courtemanche each had two hits for North Attleboro.

King Philip, 6 @ Franklin, 2 – FinalFranklin took a 2-1 lead heading into the final inning but KP rallied for five runs to earn the win. Ally Shea scored both runs for the Panthers while Alexx Niss and Clara DeCarvalho each recording an RBI. Olivia DiGiacomo added two hits for Franklin.

Mansfield, 8 vs. St. John’s Shrewsbury, 19 – FinalMansfield was within two at halftime, trailing just 7-5, but the Pioneers pulled away in the second half. Cullen Murphy and Josh London played well defensively in front of Jack Munroe, who played well in net. Sam O’Connell and Hunter Ferreira paced the Hornets’ offense.

The team of Julia Burkowsky and Jena Moyle prevailed 6-4, 6-4 at first doubles. The second doubles match did not finish due to rain.

Franklin, 4 @ Attleboro, 3 – FinalFranklin senior Steve Ferguson scored what turned out to be the winning run on a squeeze play in the top of the seventh and the Panthers held off a late surge from Attleboro to earn the win. Franklin scored two runs in the top frame to go up 4-1. Jake Noviello went 6.1 innings for Franklin, striking out nine with four hits allowed to earn the win. Bryan Woelfel picked up the last two outs to earn the save for Franklin. Offensively, Jake Lyons had two hits, including a double, and scored a run, Ryan Hodgkins belted an RBI triple and scored a run and Cam Lupien knocked in a run. Attleboro’s Matt Callahan had two hits, scored a run and drove in two, Dylan Maskell had two hits and an RBI and Tyler Davis reached base four times, stole two bases and scored once. Tyler McGovern was the tough luck loser on the mound, tossing a complete game. “He pitched well, made it tough for us,” said FHS head coach Zach Brown.

Foxboro, 9 @ Canton, 7 – FinalColin Thoener did it all for the Warriors, tossing a complete game and knocking in a team-high four RBI in a close win over Canton. Thoener scattered seven hits, walked two and struck out five to earn the win while going 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBI. AJ Bubencik also had a strong day offensively, going 3-for-4 with three runs and a stolen base and sophomore Anthony Mollica had two hits, three RBI and two stolen bases.

Mansfield, 8 @ King Philip, 5 – Final (8 inn.)Kevin Dow (2-for-4) knocked in Cullin Anastasia (2-for-3, RBI) for the winning run in the top of the eighth and Aidan Cahill brought in two more insurance runs — Max Boen (2-for-2, RBI) and Matt Farragher — as Mansfield escaped with an 8-5 win in extras at King Philip. Mansfield took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first but KP responded with two in the bottom half. The Hornets tacked on single runs in the second and third to make it 5-2, but KP cut into the deficit with a run in the third and tied the game with two runs in the fifth. Mansfield’s Kyle Moran earned the winning, tossing 3.1 innings in relief with just two hits allowed and two strikeouts. Stephen Murray knocked in two runs for KP while Will Weir (2-for-4, two runs) and Ben Furfari (2-for-4) each knocked in one.

Milford, 2 @ North Attleboro, 9 – FinalNorth Attleboro junior Peter Cohen shined in his first ever varsity start, allowing just one run on four hits and no walks, striking out five to lead the Rocketeers to a big division win. Offensively, the Rocketeers had nine hits, scoring two runs in the first, five in the second and tacking on single runs in each the third and fifth innings. Zach DeMattio (three RBI) belted a two-run home run in the first and John Brennan had a solo home run in the third.

Oliver Ames, 5 @ Taunton, 8 – FinalTaunton junior Christin Simoes had two hits, including a home run, and knocked in a pair of runs as Taunton prevailed against OA. OA took a 1-0 lead in the first, only for Taunton to respond with two runs in the bottom half. Taunton added three more in the third to take a 5-1 lead. OA didn’t go quietly, tying the game with four runs in the fourth but Taunton added three more in the sixth to get the win. Jacob Crawford added two hits and Matt Machado had one hit and an RBI for Taunton. Tyler Medeiros earned the win on the mound, tossing a complete game with seven strikeouts and four earned runs allowed. Oliver Ames’ Cam Johnson went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI and Sam Burr added two hits as well.

Sharon, 3 @ Stoughton, 4 – FinalStoughton overcame a one run deficit with the tying run in the third and then the go-ahead run in the fifth to edge out the Eagles and clinch their second straight Davenport title. Senior Josh Roos delivered the big hit for the Black Knights, connecting for a one-out triple in the fifth and came on a sac fly from Ruben Gonzalez for what turned out to be the winning run. Gonzalez also scored the tying run in the third, scoring on a passed ball after singling and stealing second. Stoughton took the lead with two runs in the first on Luke Johnson’s two-out two-run triple. Johnson also earned the win on the mound, going six innings with three runs allowed on eight hits, three strikeouts and one walk. Evan Gibb pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the save.

Softball
Attleboro, 0 @ Franklin, 3 – FinalFranklin got all three of its runs within the first two innings and junior Jackie Cherry did the rest in the circle, tossing a complete game shutout. Franklin freshman Anna Balkus singled, stole second and used two wild pitched to come home. Ally Shea also scored in the first inning for the Panthers. In the second inning, Cherry helped her own cause, reaching in the second and having courtesy running Emma DiPhilippo scoring the Panthers’ third run. In the circle, Cherry allowed just two hits, issued two walks and struck out five.

Canton, 5 @ Foxboro, 10 – Final

King Philip, 4 @ Mansfield, 0- FinalKing Philip Elise Pereira allowed just one hit while fanning 10 batters in a complete game shutout. Jenn Hutnyan paced KP’s offense with three hits, an RBI and a run scored while Hailey McCasland added two this and Faith Turnese contributed with a key pinch hit double. Mansfield’s Sarah Cahill had three strikeouts while giving up eight hits while Megan Letendre had the lone hit of the day for the Hornets.

North Attleboro, 3 @ Milford, 6 – FinalNorth Attleboro cut into MIlford’s 3-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third but the Scarlet Hawks had an answer, tacking on two runs in the bottom of the fourth to pick up the win. The teams traded single runs in the sixth inning. Junior Emily Piergustavo paced Milford’s offense, going 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI and two runs scored. Kate Irwin (1-for-3) added three runs, Jess Tomaso had two hits and an RBI and Maggie Farrell reached twice and knocked in one run. MHS head coach Steve DiVitto said Maddy Bonvino “played an exceptional defensive game at second base.” Kelley Reichert picked up the win, going six innings, scattering five hits and striking out one. Ali Atherton earned the save, striking out two in one inning of work. For North Attleboro, Meg Barlow had two hits and a a run scored and Ashley Cangiano drove in pinch runner Kat Munley.

Canton, 18 @ Taunton, 0 – FinalCanton senior CJ Martin netted first career goal and then went on to add two more to record a hat trick in the Bulldogs’ big win. Brian Albert and Alec Raguso also scored their first career goals while Connor Proctor and Matt Mackay found the back of the net for the first time this season.

Foxboro, 5 @ Franklin, 9 – Final – Franklin raced out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter and used that strong start to take down Foxboro. The Panthers gained a 7-3 edge by halftime but were blanked in the third quarter by Foxboro’s defense and the Warriors cut the deficit to three at 7-4 entering the fourth. But Franklin recovered and won the fourth quarter 2-1 to prevail with a win. Eric Civetti had three goals and three assists, Packie Watson also netted a hat trick and had one assist and Nitin Chaudhury had one goal and one assist. Chase Tanner and Jake Davis each added one goal while sophomore Jacob Alexander notched 15 wins at the face off X.

North Attleboro, 12 @ Mansfield, 6 – FinalNorth Attleboro built a commanding 7-2 lead by halftime and never looked back to notch a key road win and clinch the Davenport division outright. Jason McNeany won 10 of the 15 face offs he participated in to help give Big Red the possession edge. Jack Dakin scored a team-high five goals and added two assists, Zach McGowan (two goals, two assists) totaled four points and McNeany finished with a pair of goals and one assist. Owen Costello also recorded four points for the Rocketeers while Colin Young scored once and had one assist, Tommy Lindstrom added two assists and Hunter Sarro notched one helper.

The Tigers were led by Abbey Kingman’s five goals and four from Alana Tavares, while Lorna Li made 17 saves.

Cole Ginter prevailed 6-1, 7-5 at first singles and Martin Matous recorded a 6-0, 6-0 at third singles. KP’s team of Ryan Gemelli and Marco DiStefano earned a key 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win at first doubles to seal the win. Mansfield’s Luke Nickerson won 6-0, 6-1 at second singles and the team of Gus Daganhardt and Stephen Zenack won 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 at second doubles.

Zac Pfeffer won 6-1, 6-3 at first singles, Alex Rinaldi moved up a spot and earned a 6-2, 6-1 at second singles and Alex Pfeffer prevailed from third singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win. The team of Daniel Zhang and Ben Pfeffer won 6-1, 6-4 at first doubles and Andrew Harris and Vikram Senthilakumaran notched a 6-1, 6-0 win at second doubles.

Taunton, 5 @ Oliver Ames, 0 – FinalTaunton’s first doubles of sophomores Dylan Kullas and Charlie Fiske emerged victorious from a 10-set super tie breaker to complete the Tigers’ clean sweep. Kullas and Fiske won 6-7, 7-5, 11-9 while the team of junior Kyle Dennehy and freshman Alex Pugh won 6-2, 6-4 at second doubles. Taunton swept singles as well with sophomore Brett Beaulieu (6-1, 6-1), junior Mike Briggs (6-2, 6-2) and senior Eric Gwozdz (6-2, 7-5) all winning in straight sets.

Senior Matt Farragher (3-for-4, run) delivered the biggest hit of the game, knocking in three runs with a bases clearing double in the third inning.

Taunton, 3 vs. New Bedford, 2 – Final (9 inn.)Taunton sophomore Jack Moynihan drove in the game-winning to hand the Tigers a walk-off win over New Bedford. Moynihan launched a double to bring in senior Matt Machado for the game-winning run. Machado and Tyler Medeiros each knocked in a run in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead before New Bedford tied the game with two runs in the sixth. Danny Keogh earned the win, tossing three scoreless innings in relief with just one hit allowed, no walks and two strikeouts. Owen O’Gara went six innings, striking out five with two earned runs allowed on one hit.

Stoughton, 10 @ Brockton, 0 – FinalAlessandra Loffredo was a single shy of the cycle for the Black Knights who totaled 11 hits on the day. Gina Carafa tossed a three-hit shutout, striking out five to get the win. Megan Eosco drove in the winning run with a first inning double and Jordan Lyons and Bri Ferrandiz each had a pair of hits for Stoughton.

Mansfield, 6 vs. Barnstable, 11 – FinalMansfield trailed by just two at halftime, down 5-3 to the Red Raiders but couldn’t rally. Cullen Murphy led the Hornets’ offense with five points, scoring twice with three assists. Sam O’Connell, Joe Cox and Brad Grant each scored once and had an assist and Danny DeGirolamo scored once. Tommy Donnelly had a strong defensive performance in front of goalie Sean Powers (19 saves).

Gage Kingman had a big day for the Tigers with 11 digs, nine kills and one ace and Mike Fernandez had seven kills and four blocks. THS coach Toby Chaperon said Jason Khang and Alex Tavares both provided the Tigers with a spark.

Christian Simoes went 2-for-3 for the Tigers with an RBI and a run scored while Matt Machado (run) and Tyler Medeiros (RBI) each went 1-for-3 for the Tigers.

Mansfield, 3 @ Sharon, 5 – FinalSharon junior Max Tarlin impressed on the bump, tossing six innings with just four hits allowed to earn the win. Tarlin allowed two unearned tuns, walked just one and struck out six for the Eagles. Sharon scored once in the second and then exploded for four runs in the third inning. Aiden Arnold (RBI, run) and Jake Teven (run) each had two hits for the Eagles while Spencer Singer (RBI, run), Drew Naisuler (run), Ben Schwartz (RBI), Danny Emerman (two RBI) and Jake Marglous (run) each had one hit. Mansfield’s Zack Peterson (two RBI) and Kevin Dow (home run) each went 1-for-3 for the Hornets.

Oliver Ames, 2 @ Milford, 1 – FinalOliver Ames sophomore Matt McCormack made an immediate impact in his varsity debut, coming on in relief to pick up the win for the Tigers. McCormack came on with the bases loaded and just one out, but escaped the jam with a pair of strikeouts. The sophomore threw 3.2 innings, collecting the win by allowing just one hit while striking out four. OA head coach Joe Abarr praised the defensive work of sophomore Chris Pearsons (six putouts, run) at third base. OA took the lead in the fourth inning when Kyle Gagliardi singled with two outs, stole second and came home on an outfield error. Milford tied the game in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single from Alex Coady. OA scored the winning run in the sixth, with Pearsons scoring on a passed ball. Alex Macek threw a complete game for Milford, allowing just four hits with seven strikeouts and two unearned runs allowed.

Softball
Foxboro, 1 @ Taunton, 12 – FinalTaunton scored in every inning and picked up a seventh win of the season. Courtney Fisher went the distance in the circle, striking out three. Jaime Brown, Liana Duarte, Kya Enos, and Hannah Aldrich each had three hits for the Tigers and Hailey Medeiros had two hits. Duarte drove in three runs and Medeiros and Aldrich each had two RBI.

Stoughton, 0 @ King Philip, 14 – FinalElise Pereira tossed six shutout innings for the Warriors, striking out 11 in the process. KP hit three homers and pounded out 13 hits on the day. Meghan Gorman went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI, Betsy Walsh went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI, and Paige Kuchy went 2-for-3 with a solo homer. Stoughton only managed three hits – a double by Jordan Lyons and singles from Gina Carafa and Alesandra Lofredo.

Mady Bendanillo started the rally with a walk and Liz Mackin reached on an error. Sarah Cahill, who picked up the win an struck out nine, singled in the first run and Marissa Staffer followed with a single that plated two and tied the game. Caty DeMassi had an RBI on a fielder’s choice to give the Hornets the lead and Megan Letendre doubled home two runs. Mady Bendanillo came up for a second time in the inning and capped the scoring with a three-run homer.

Cormier also had a stolen base while Emily Piergustavo went 3-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base. Kelley Reichert (1-for-3, home run) earned the win, tossing a complete game with no earned runs allowed. OA’s Katie Abreu went 2-for-3, Lexie Campbell was 2-for-4 and Victoria Ziner had a hit and scored a run for the Tigers.

Lance Law had a team-high 12 kills as well as six digs, two blocks and an ace, David Fusiecki had nine kills, 10 digs and an ace and Nick Sorm chipped in with 11 digs, seven assists and four kills for the Tigers.
