Attleboro, 0 @ King Philip, 1 – FinalKing Philip scored just minutes into the game and held Attleboro scoreless for 80 minutes to earn the upset at home. Matt Crago scored off of a pass from Brad Lynn in the third minute to give KP the early advantage. Jake van Hoosen made six saves to earn the shutout for the Warriors.

Foxboro, 1 @ Sharon, 1 – Final

Franklin, 1 @ Taunton, 0 – FinalFranklin broke a scoreless tie with just over 10 minutes to play to fend off an upset bid from a Taunton side that came to play. Junior Hansy Jacques set up classmate Michael Fernandez-Martin for the lone goal of the game in the 67th minute.

Milford, 2 @ North Attleboro, 2 – FinalNorth Attleboro scored tying goals just before halftime and again with under five minutes to go to earn a point against visiting Milford. The Scarlet Hawks went ahead first as Eduardo Santana latched onto a through ball from Johnny Castro and snapped Milford’s scoreless skid to make it 1-0. Just before half, a long throw from Jack Regan was played wide by Carson Dameron to Eliude Alcenat at the back post and he buried it to make it 1-1. Santana grabbed his second of the game, this time running onto a through ball from Rodrigo Lourenço to make it 2-1. In the final minutes, Givany Carney played a ball into the area and after it bounced around, Griffen Rodden pounced on it and buried it to make it 2-2.

Mansfield, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – Final

Stoughton, 2 @ Canton, 5 – Final

Girls Soccer
King Philip, 3 @ Attleboro, 0 – FinalEilish McGowen’s brace powered KP to a big road win, bouncing back after Friday’s loss to Franklin. McGowen opened the scoring after 15 minutes, finishing off an assist from Heidi Lawrence. The junior doubled the lead at the hour mark, this time tapping in after Danielle Gresham’s corner. Addisyn Lamothe-Vaughn wrapped up the scoring with a shot from 30 yards, assisted by Maggie Griffin, with five minutes to play.

Canton, 1 @ Stoughton, 1 – FinalCanton scored a pair of late goals to win the first meeting, but on Tuesday it was Stoughton’s turn to come from behind and get the result. After the Bulldogs took the lead in the 13th minute, the Black Knights were able to tie off a corner routing nine minutes into the second half. Makenzie O’Connor played a short pass to Emma Tran, who was able to find the back of the net and secure a big point.

Sharon, 0 @ Foxboro, 1 – FinalFoxboro scored inside the opening four minutes and carried that goal to a win and a split of the seasons series. Neve Taylor scored the game’s only goal. Erin Foley created the chance with a run to the corner off a throw-in and then an accurate pass to Taylor in the box. Laure Miley and Shea Dorney controlled the midfield for the Warriors, while Lindsey Resnick kept things solid in front of goalie Allie Sougaris. Sharon was shorthanded on Tuesday, including star midfielder Sofia Goclowski, but got strong performances from Claire Baur in defense and from freshman Jessica Li, who helped out in the midfield.

Taunton, 0 @ Franklin, 6 – FinalFranklin maintained its advantage in the Kelley-Rex with a strong win against Taunton. Hailey Baima and Mia Eglintine led the way for the Panthers, each with a goal in both halves. Kelly O’Connor opened the scoring and Bridget Leo added a goal for Franklin.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Milford, 2 – FinalDani Atherton’s second half goal pushed Milford to a home win. Serena Borges had put Milford ahead in the first half with a penalty kick, but Emma Pratt scored for North in the second half to tie it. Atherton provided the winner with about 20 minutes to play when she fired a 25-yard shot from a tough angle into the top corner. Chloe Murdock had an impressive game in goal for the Hawks.

Boys Cross Country
North Attleboro, 38 @ King Philip, 21 – FinalNate Sylven (15:55) won his second straight race to lead the Warriors to a big win over North Attleboro. North took second overall but KP had four of the next five runners with Owen McKenzie (17:54) and Max Miller (17:59) taking third and fourth, respectively, and Eliot Davis (18:14) and Ryan Taylor (18:34) crossing sixth and seventh overall.

Girls Cross Country
North Attleboro, 32 @ King Philip, 25 – FinalNorth Attleboro had two of the top three finishes, including first overall, but King Philip’s depth proved vital in a win at home. Kate Buban (20:04) was KP’s top runner at second overall. Leah Burke (21:27), Rachel Bailer (21:47), and Keira Evans (21:55) finished consecutively from fourth to sixth, and Bridget Sweezey (22:24) rounded out the Warriors’ scoring finishing eighth.

Wednesday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 09/07/22

Boys Soccer
King Philip, 3 @ Bishop Feehan, 0 – FinalBehind a pair of first half goals and a shutout defensively, King Philip opened the season with a win over Bishop Feehan. The Warriors opened the scoring just inside 20 minutes in as Dermott Amorim set up Brad Lynn to make it 1-0 in the 17th minute. KP went on to double its lead shortly before halftime as Will Bowen finished off an assist from Matt Crago. The Warriors put the game away in the 62nd mintue when Neel McGrath nodded in a service from Bowen.

Canton, 0 vs. Braintree, 1 – Final

Franklin, 2 @ Xaverian, 0 – FinalConnor Brown had a dream start to his senior season, scoring both goals for the Panthers and putting in a strong performance all game long. Junior Andrew O’Neill registered an assist on the second goal for the Panthers.

Mansfield, 0 @ Wayland, 4 – Final

Girls Soccer
King Philip, 1 @ Hingham, 1 – FinalKP started the season with a very impressive point on the road against top-ranked Hingham. With 11 minutes to play, Ella Pisani hit a long, diagonal pass to Ailish McGowen on the left and she hit a 35-yard shot over the keeper’s head. Makenna Norrman made eight saves, including several diving stops to preserve a point for the Warriors. Grace Lawler and Rihanna Mason had strong games in back for KP.

Mansfield, 0 vs. Bishop Feehan, 2 – FinalFeehan scored twice in the second half to pull out the win against Mansfield. A young Hornets roster battled with one of the highly-ranked teams in the state and showed that it can compete at that level. Goalie Olivia Salisbury made a handful of top-level saves and the center back pairing of Kara Santos and freshman Olivia Dunham also had a strong game against Feehan’s attack.

Milford, 2 vs. Norton, 2 – FinalMilford twice held a lead against Norton and walked away with a point in the season opener. Serena Borges put the Hawks ahead with a 30-yard free kick. Norton tied the game in the second half but Milford regained the advantage with 10 minutes play on Dani Atherton’s first goal of the season. With three minutes to play, the Lancers were able to score again to share a point apiece. Milford freshman goalie Chloe Murdock made 10 saves on her debut before leaving in the second half with an injury.




Field Hockey
North Attleboro, 3 @ Dartmouth, 3 – FinalNorth Attleboro found the back of the net twice in the opening quarter but needed a goal midway through the fourth to earn a tie on the road at Dartmouth. The Rocketeers opened the scoring just under five minutes in when Ava Spencer finished off a pass from Caroline Folan. After the hosts tied the game, Spencer returned the favor to Folan on a corner to give North the lead back with less than a minute to go in the quarter. Dartmouth tied the game in the second and took its first lead in the third but Folan’s second goal of the game (assisted by Julia Puccio) with 7:44 left brought the Big Red level. Gracie Leary made five saves in net for North, Francesca Spencer had a strong performance on the right wing, and both Ella Luistro and Ava Mckeon played well defensively.

Sharon, 0 @ Taunton, 5 – FinalCaelyn O’Leary registered four points and Sophia Cabral scored a pair of goals as Taunton rolled to a big win in its first game of the season. O’Leary opened the scoring (from Jillian Emond) and then assisted on goals from Olivia Reposa, Cabral, and Ayla Jackson. Cabral also netted an unassisted goal to make it 4-0. Jasmine Lucier had the shutout in net while Thal Nogueira, Caroline Vallarelli, and Sydney Moreton played well for the Tigers.

Attleboro, 169 @ Milford, 163 – FinalMilford got its season underway by earning a win over visiting Attleboro at Hopedale Country Club. Jacob Hipolito and David Fleming led the way for the Scarlet Hawks, each shooting a low-round of 40. Attleboro’s Leo Lombardo was the match medalist, carding a 37 on the day.

King Philip, 151 @ Oliver Ames, 146 – FinalOliver Ames won its second match in a row to start the season, this time knocking off a strong King Philip squad in a crossover contest. Seniors Michael McGinnis and Daniel Paul shared match medalist honors along with King Philip’s Cam Hasenfus as all three shot a 36 on the day. Juniors Lucas Riley and David Rodgers rounded out the scoring for the Tigers, each coming in at 37 for the day.

Franklin, 151 @ North Attleboro, 152 – FinalFranklin grabbed a pair of wins on the day, including a one-stroke win over North Attleboro in a huge division showdown. Tyler O’Brien hit back-to-back birdies on the final two holes to finish with a team-low round of 36 for the Panthers. Jack Hagerty and Brendan Collins both fired a 38 and CJ Steel and Liam Lewandowski both came in at 39 for the day. North Attleboro’s Tyson Laviano was the match medalist with a low-round of 35 at Wentworth Hills. Caiden Albergio added a 38 and Jordan Paradis shot a 39 for North.

Taunton, 184 @ North Attleboro, 152 – Final

Taunton, 184 vs. Franklin, 151 – Final

Stoughton @ Mansfield – Postponed to TBD.

Sharon, 184 @ Canton, 162 – FinalCanton broke into the win column by taking down visiting Sharon at Blue Hill Country Club. Sophomore Huck McCready had the best round of the day, firing a match medalist round of 38. Brendan Tourgee added a 40 for Canton while both Brian Middleton and Joey Ryan came in at 42. Sharon’s Dylan Cummings, Reid Nierman, Mihir Basil, and Patrick Dykeman all shot 46.
